Np, honestly I had to hurry up to post or everyone would be finishing first book already... Dayum.

By the way, if you see any writing mistakes or something that could be worded better, tell me. I'm trying to do my best but I may lack some vocabulary at times. Anything helps, and don't worry about hurting my feelings.

Male Human Expert 4/ Geodesic Crafter 3

You are doing great Zamdoc - me habla no Espanol, so I can't imagine how badly I'd do...

And don't worry, I wont hesitate to let you know, I'm blunter than Harness' flail...

Giantslayer Combat Map

@I would never have known you were operating in a 2nd language if you had not said :) I am currently trying to learn Dutch, as sister in law is Dutch and living in Holland my nephew speaks better Dutch than English, and it is a real struggle.

@GM Sphen Elery is a reach build with 3 attacks of opportunity a round, it makes most sense to me for me to post a contingent action when it seems likely an enemy will provoke. If nobody provokes then that attack of opportunity would just be null and void and the spoilered contingent reaction ignored. If it does occur then you can react the spoilered action in your post, either having the for dodge, or get injured, etc. Is that alright?

If an unexpected attack of opportunity comes up please just roll it for me to keep the game going.

If that does not work please just let me know how you would like to handle it and I will go with that, but I like that way as I still get to make the rolls which is more satisfying :)

@PoD, If Elery is equipped for that many AoO, I'd prefer to have you do the extra work (GMing is enough to keep track of already). So go ahead and roll an attack each round and put it in spoiler. I'd suggest having the text for it in your profile so you can just copy and paste it each time:

[spoiler=Attack of Opportunity][dice=Attack]1d20+3[/dice[/spoiler

And that way I'll look at it if I need it, and I'll take care of any more that might need to happen. Sound fair?

Giantslayer Combat Map

Sounds good :) I'll add it at the bottom of her profile.

Giantslayer Combat Map

LOL, well that mounted goblin is going to be really dead.

Yeah, he's probably a bit toast by now... Anyways, you all managed to make a perfect blocking diagonal line for the rest of the party :P I'll see what I can do this turn

Giantslayer Combat Map

You can always move up and delay an attack for when they come up to you. Worst case you are positioned to charge next turn.

Giantslayer Combat Map

I always used to give out the monsters basic stats so that PCs could post whether they hit, etc., with confidence. Then combat can be resolved in post order and dead foes can be removed from the map, etc. The only times I would refrain from doing this were with weird unknown monsters or foes for which such information might be obscured - say if a Wizard was disguised as a Warrior or some such.

Certainly not for everyone, and a lot of GMs do not like to do it, but since most of us are likely able to ballpark the figures anyway it might help.

I prefer a player to know if they have killed a baddie and be able to describe an appropriately brutal attack, etc. I guess the downside is opening up for meta gaming, but that seems a pretty small issue to me in most circumstances.

I would just stick enemy stats in a little spoiler and repost with each of my posts.

I have to pay for anything I draw using Pack Rat. Can't find a cost for a pickle jar. GM?

I must admit I laughed hard when I saw the pickle jar in the map. Hope whatever you have in mind works.

My goal is that eating the pickles will soak up some of their actions.

If you mean the pickle jar from the goblin companion, they are 4 sp.

@GM Sphen shouldn't the third goblin be dead, assuming a normal gobbo? Elery hit AC 19 for 8 damage. Only her attack of opportunity was vs the rider.

Yes, yes it should have been. I misunderstood due to the flavor text which one you were attacking. Normally I'd do some retcon to fix this, but you guys are doing great. So in this case I'll just award extra exp. for the fight. Sound fair?

Fela, remember ranged touch attacks like ray of frost can crit, unless I'm mistaken!

How's that for a confirmation?

Giantslayer Combat Map

Very nice! But shouldn't you get double damage? 2d3? I thought that was how it worked for spells, though I am a bit rusty and have not looked it up.

Sounds more than fair, and lets Fela get off a tasty crit after so much savouring of the dubious joy that is low level caster crossbowery ;)

G!! d*$n, two crits, two failed confirmations, that's frustrating. At least the goblin's toast.

Good job everyone......but your not done yet. The raid continues.

Good idea Harness - running. As far as I can determine you only loose your Dex while actually running, unlike charge - as in you would only loose Dex during the actual movement. But that seems wrong and it may be a case of the rules simply not having been explicit so Elery is potentially down 2 AC.

Male Human Expert 4/ Geodesic Crafter 3

It's an underused option... I generally use it to get closer to combat, rather than further away. ;)

Harness adamantine body modification counts as heavy armor, and his Dex mod/bonus is therefore necessarily low. I'm not really worried about the goblins shooting me. Yet.

I'm not sure what square the goblin above me is. Can you please tell me?

Who did move Elery a 5ft step to her lower left corner? Now I can't flank... And seems like she did no action this turn yet.

Male Human Expert 4/ Geodesic Crafter 3

I'm not sure who moved Elery - maybe Elery? Maybe some size adjustment?

I only moved Harness north 4 squares, in part Harness is trying to pull the mounted goblin into the battle, and is setting himself up for a charge if that doesn't work. Moving only 20' is certainly limiting...

Male Human Expert 4/ Geodesic Crafter 3

@Zamdoc: I think the goblin above you is in the square adjacent to you.

GM - maybe you could shrink their icons down in hieght to fit into a square - they are Small after all...

I shortened the goblins and color coded them for clarity

SkaTalon wrote:

While I do appreciate both what you did and why you did it, don't ever do it again. At least, not without my permission.

understood.

So, can I get my questions answered? I have no idea about what is going on, honestly.

Okay now I'm totally lost. Am I the only one that saw Elery adjacent to the three goblins and then someone moved her 5ft to the lower left corner, and she just took her turn? I am confused.

I moved Elery, tried to post this morning several times but Paizo kept giving me that goblin tangled up in computer innards page. I could preview, but not get the actual post through very frustrating! I think I moved her first and just forgot about it after 20 minutes of trying to post.

I had the text saved via copy and just reposted it once I got home. Sorry for the confusion!

Zamdoc wrote:

If someone else moved you, then move back to where you should be. Obviously don't worry about attacks of opportunity.

Giantslayer Combat Map

I think I moved me someone moved me back and then I moved me again? Its all good :) Just a tad confusing.

Could be internet issues. Make sure to wait for the saved message before leaving the page.

I believe diagonal movement is 5, 10, 5, 10, etc. So odd squares are 5 ft.

Fire Drake wrote:

That is correct. And stairs are difficult terrain.

Sphen, didn't Elery attack that goblin with her spear? Or am I confusing turns? I thought AFTER the burning hands and my attack, Elery hit the last goblin with her spear for 12 damage.

Okay, edit: I re-read the fight, and that's how it went as far as I'm seeing (By all means, correct me if I'm wrong):

There was three goblins in front of us:

Fela used burning hands for 8 dmg. Two goblins made their saves, and the last one died because he didn't.
I stood in front of Fela and hit one while fightning defensively and killed it.
Elery hit the last one with her spear for 12 dmg and killed the last of the three.

Is this correct, or the last one is really alive?

Male Human Expert 4/ Geodesic Crafter 3

From reading the posts, it looks like Elery killed the last one of the three HERE...

You guys are correct. I just missed that part of the turn. Third goblin is dead.

Giantslayer Combat Map

To clarify is Snyk actually injured? The arrow did not seem to hit his 18 AC, but he was described as being cut?

Snyk is not actually injured. The original post had a higher roll for the attack, but I lost it because of the site. Luckily I had ctrl+c most of the text and just kept it in there as flavor.

As for order, I don't mind what order people post in. The important thing is that everyone goes before the enemy does. When we get into bigger battles and the enemy has multiple places in initiative, then all PC's who have turns between enemy turns need to go. So I kind of take it in chunks. Make sense to everyone?

Makes perfect sense.

Giantslayer Combat Map

Yup, a common and generally expedient way of handling things I am all for - anything that speeds up PBP is great :)

I'm fine with that way of taking turns. But remember folks, try to let someone go before you if he can take advantatge of it! (Elery didn't let me flank last turn, shame on her D: )

Heads up for the future guys. I am getting a new job. "But why do we care?" you ask. It is going to affect my posting schedule. I will still be on every day, and I'll be on after work like I have been. But "after work" will be changing from around 9 pm local time to 2 pm local time for a few months, then 1 am local time for a few months, and then 9 am local time for a few months. This shouldn't affect to much, but I wanted to let you guys know.

Male Human Expert 4/ Geodesic Crafter 3

Thanks for the heads up GM. Congratulations on getting a new job.

Giantslayer Combat Map

Congrats, good luck with the new job :)
