Galadan Teresthin |
"I concur. We have too many things to do before the next part of the trial. And little time to rest between them."
If we stop by a temple, we can probably be healed of our fatigue for a small donation. Paladin's mercies or other religious classes might have spells to dispel fatigue.
Galadan Teresthin |
Galadan recalls that he might have something to help recover from his current predicament, and he shuffles through his backpack to find the vial.
"I have this potion, but only one, for those who are grossly fatigued. Should we discuss who might most need it for the coming events."
Still have my potion of lesser restoration from Haunting.
Wren the FeatherMage |
Thod, can you confirm how much sleep we're getting after meeting with Stitches? And what the travel time/method to the next location is? I feel very time-disoriented here.
Wren yawns and looks around as if she is confused about where she is and what time it is.
When I'm this tired, I lose all track of time and place.
Thod |
Getting closer to Hergstag you notice that the wilderness starts to reclaim what once must have been farm land. Crops have gone to seed and high corn has grown everywhere.
Even following the path seems difficult.
Survival DC 15 anyone?
Wren - you are concentrating on the wrong issue. Fatigue (and maybe even exhaustion) might hamper you - but it is only an inconvenience. Aldous had shown you enough ways how to get around it. Remember why you are going here is more important.
About how much sleep to expect - well - depends what you encounter tonight and next night.

Target
1 - Hastur , 2 Kevin
1d2 ⇒ 2
Attack 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (8) + 10 = 18
Trying to figure out the best way - Hastur and Kevin lead the way. The thick grass is disguising the right path - but it seems it disguised more than that.
Kevin suddenly jerks up with a shout. Sharp jaws have shut around his ankle making him immobile.
Damage 2d6 + 3 ⇒ (6, 4) + 3 = 13
A bear trap shouldn't have been left so close to the path you think.
Kevin Darlok |
Kevin snarls as he tries to work his way out of the trap. "I didn't see you up front wiggiling your fingers and such to clear all of this grass. Can't be careful if I can not see where I am going. Got a spell for that?"
The tired fighter looks over at Hasture and shakes his head. "Next monster we face, shover our dear Andrea to the front and let her nagg it to death.
Andrea really needs her beauty rest....she is starting to look like a hairy dwarf.
Thod |
After a while you manage to get Kevin out of the bear trap find the road again. Three run down and abondoned houses are the first sign you have managed to get close to the village.
It looks like some small stream encircles the village. You see a bridge nearby. A second one seems to cross 250 feet further down the stream.
Let me know from where you want to enter. You are currently coming from the East. The second bridge is North-East.
Wren the FeatherMage |
Wren thanks Andrea for the touch of the wand.
"I feel much better, much more refreshed. I could almost fly." Wren flaps her arms a bit, feeling the rush of positive energy cancelling out the fatigue from the last few days.
Wren is tempted to ask for a touch for Plume, her bird friend, but resists the urge.
Wren the FeatherMage |
"Let's cross here," Wren points to the closes bridge (East), "and maybe we'll find some new friends inside."
I bet small teeny villages like this just love it when adventurers come to town.
Galadan Teresthin |
Survival (tracking?)
1d20 + 8 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 8 + 2 = 11 Wow, we really were doomed. Oh well, at least it wasn't an attack roll.
Galadan shows gratitude for his exhaustion being removed.
"My thanks, Mistress Andrea. I was uncertain how much longer I could have continued without rest."
Nym Vallidorn |
Shot in the dark...Untrained Survival: 1d20 ⇒ 3Oh yeah...I beat you all
"Most kind of you Andrea." Nym says, creaking his neck to the side with an audible pop.
He remains quite, but the sword scholar isn't quite so optimistic as his feathery friend.
Wren the FeatherMage |
Wren looks around, following Mr. Hastur, as they search.
"Careful now, Mr. Hastur. This doesn't feel right."
1d20 + 6 ⇒ (17) + 6 = 23 Perception
Wren draws her new wand, clutching it protectively.

You wander past a large house with stables. Nature seems to start reclaiming the house. The dirt road - or what once must have been a dirt road as it is partly overgrown already - splits at the house.
One part of the road meanders west. You notice another house around 150 feet away and further in the distance at the center of the village a building that looks like the former church.
The other road bends south-west towards another house.
You spot towards the Southwest something that looks like a fallen scarecrow at the side of the road.
GM count = 3 ignore me ;-)
Andrea Greenholt |
After Andrea uses the wand then heals his leg, Kevin just stairs at the young with as if thinking of something. After a few seconds he fishes his flask from his pouch and turns taking a long swig as he walks away.
Andrea just shakes her head sadly at the fighters retreating back then follows on.
"This isn't the place is it?" she asks.."I mean it was supposed to be inhabited wasn't it? Something isn't right here my friends be on your guard"
Thod |
Indeed - it seems Barrister Kaple wasn't up to date about what has happened here.
Too late you might rue that you didn't ask The Beast or the Witnesses for tomorrows trial for any clues or explanations.
But even for someone not aligned to nature it is clear - this place hasn't been abondoned yesterday - unless some strange magic would speed up plant growth a hundred fold.
At least you have a little bit of sunlight left - about just enough to scan most of the village.
Galadan Teresthin |
"This place does indeed seem abandoned. We should have asked for more information before coming, but the states of our minds and bodies were not up to such a task."
Galadan looks over the village from their vantage point, trying to determine if there are any buildings which are taller or which stand out from the others.
Kevin Darlok |
Kevin raises his hands in the air as he turns towards the fallen scarecrow. "There it is everyone! A scarecrow! Now we are getting some where, I am sure it can tell us answers we seek! Hey scarecrow, where are all the iceholes that used to be here?" The fighter holds his hand up to his ear and turns his head in what looks like an attempt to hear better. "What? Can you repeat that? I cant seem to hear you, because your a fargin scarecrow! Kevin kicks the ground again sending a cloud of dirt and rocks down the road in the direction of the scarecrow.
Nym Vallidorn |
Just to be super clear, the man still has a bear trap attached to his leg...is the bear trap chained to anything or is it loose? IE, does it look like he got caught here, or did he get this far before bleeding out?
Thod |
The mans clothes are now little more than rags. He wears a turquoise worth 100 gp on a leather thong around his neck, and carries 12 gp, 22 sp, a small silver pocket knife worth 25 gp, and a set of masterwork thieves' tools in his pockets.
Galadan hasn't to search long until he finds another bear trap disguised through the high grass. This one also is fixed to a wooden pole driven into the ground.
It seems there was a hunt for a large beast here in the village. Rust on the bear traps shows they might be here as long as the village got abandoned.
Andrea Greenholt |
"Hmmm..perhaps the villagers set the traps for Stitches should he return..but then why abandon the village..there is something most strange going on here."
Heal to attempt to determine cause of death 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (3) + 9 = 12
Oh well looks like CSI:Herstag isn't that good
