Jeffrey heads up to the floor above, fumbling his way in the dark. He slams his foot into a barrel loudly but eventually makes his way to the stairs that lead to the top deck. It's full dark out and all he can see is the outline of a a dark-haired, muscular woman standing on the pier and approaching the ship with a shambling humanoid creature. As Jeffrey watches, they both board.

GM ShadowLord |

Jeffrey, still crouched in the stairwell sees an average height middle aged woman steps on the deck and continues to yell, “I’m bringing a crew in tonight and we’re sailing this thing out of here tomorrow. You better not be down there beating my slaves to death!"
The rest of the party files in behind Jeffrey, standing in the stairwell.

"Undead? Really?" Jeffrey tries to see the undead, but it's too dark for him to see anything.
"Bring those dancing light and that torch up, if you will," Jeffrey whispers to those behind him. "I'd rather save the daylight spell on my wayfinder now we have other light sources up anyway."

Watkins stands up. "May Iomedae grant your soul Mercy!"

Watkins stands up and announces his presence, trusting in his diety to guide his shot. The aim is quite good and he lets his arrow fly but the darkness was decieving as he actually aimed at a shadow instead of the actual undead creature itself. His arrow slams into the deck behind him. He corrects his aim for the second shot and finds his arm as the arrow strikes home and the creature howls.
The woman screams, "What WHAT WHAT is this?! Get them!"

"Blast this darkness!"
I will delay till hopefully a light source comes up or untill its Undead's turn.

Jeffrey delays until everyone else has had a chance to move, not wanting to mess up the aim of the ranged attackers by moving in too early.

Jeffrey sees Moumoku's about to cast a spell and comments on it: "If you're thinking of giving me offensive support with your spell, use it on Watkins instead. I'm not going for offense right now."
After everyone's gotten their attacks in Jeffrey takes a double move to end up next to the woman.

GM ShadowLord |

Kimiya hits the woman with the broad side of his weapon, preventing any serious injury to the woman. Despite not suffering a lethal blow she spews forth a volley of obseneties at him. She takes a step back and blast Jeffrey and Kimiya with a wave of negative energy 2d6 ⇒ (2, 4) = 6 damage. DC12 Will save for half.
Party is up!

Jeffrey drops his shield on the ship's deck and takes hold of his longsword with both hands. Benny and Kimiya put the woman on the edge of tottering. Jeffrey's two handed weapon sends the woman nearly to her deathbed. The woman flies backwards onto the deck as a tremendous wound tears into her neck. She flops the ground like a doll in a bloody pulp, death only seconds away.
Out of initiative.

![]() |

"Is this the person the captives were talking about?"
Jeffrey sheaths his sword, takes his rope, and ties the woman up. "If someone else could stabilize her while I tie her up, that'd be nice."
He searches the woman for a spell component pouch, which he'll remove, and makes extra sure her hands are tied in a way she can't use spells with somatic components.
Afterward Jeffrey retrieves his tower shield, which he puts on his back. "Moumoku, after the woman's stable, could you heal me with my wand?"

CLW Wand: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 1 = 9
Moumoku knows nothing of non-magical healing arts, so can CLW the woman but do little else for her, beyond an untrained check?

Go ahead and use another charge of my wand on the woman. She's close to bleeding to death so it'll have to happen fast.
"Thanks, Watkins, but it seems Moumoku beat you to it."

![]() |

Jeffrey pokes he woman with his boot. "Sooo... any signs she's waking up after the healing? I want to start the interrogation."

GM ShadowLord |

The woman is still very injured. While not on deaths door anymore she awakens in obvious pain, cradling her injury and rocking back and forth on the deck. She stares up at Jeffrey and spits on him, "I'll tell you nothing!"
She's obviously hostile towards you, you're going to need a diplomacy check to bring her down.

Jeffrey draws his longsword and puts the tip against the woman's throat. His big smile's as bright as ever when he threatens the woman. "There will be no further healing. You're not in a position to demand anything. Tell us what you know, and be glad you'll get to live another day when you do."

GM ShadowLord |

"Alright, alright. I'll talk. A cleric named Dalirio Teppish has spent the last several years recruiting a small cult of followers. He even traveled deep beneath Cassomir, wandering Cassomir’s Locker and then the Darklands and found the derros in Corgunbier, their city deep beneath northern Taldor. Somehow he convinced them to step up their kidnapping in Cassomir to create further confusion and chaos. Dalirio presently leads a sizeable band of miscreants. Anyway, your friend was caught up in the kidnapping, to be sold a slave."
