John congratulates his teammate, "excellent swordsmanship Yelek!"

He picks up his dropped sack and the end of the rope, offering to hold it steady again for his allies as they move to dry land. Afterwards he will coil it up as he walks up to where the grapple is secured and returns the whole set to Pavo. As he walks past the body he squints at it, "anyone know what that thing was?"

When he gets near the dry area he casts detect magic, scanning the other half of the room for auras.

As you travel to the dry region of the room, nothing else attacks you. John begins scanning the region for magical auras and finds something glowing in the roots near the ceiling. There's a faint aura coming from a satchel caught about 15ft up.
As amusing as it would be to watch you try climbing and fall repeatedly, I'm going to assume you manage to somehow get the satchel down

Satchel:

Contained within is a weathered parchment with a hastily scrawled note. In common, it reads "“We lost Gavreth, Kehm, and Nars in the Hall of the Flesh Eaters. Before he died, the wizard claimed the horror is a work of necromancy. I know it at least responded to holy water, so that means we should be able to—“

The rest of the note is smeared with a mix of blood and ink. It's illegible. A pair of sandals rest underneath the note.

A panel opens in the wall, and a clay abomination slips out into the hallway. Eyeing the scaled man, the creature turns to the closed door. Glancing back to you, it reaches out and pushes the door open.

This cathedral-like hall has a vaulted ceiling supported by eight square pillars. Dominating the middle of the hall is a huge mound of undulating gray-green flesh covered with weeping scarlet boils. The entire mass stinks of a weeks-old corpse.

Several abominations stand near the mass, slurping the fluid weeping from the boils. Glancing towards Yelek, one of the things grunt. An opening in the southern part of the west wall is choked off with debris and unpassable. To the northend another closed door beckons you.

Four of the creatures have long, sharp teeth. Their pallid flesh stretches tightly over their starved frames.

The other two creatures are hideously malformed, hairless, pustule-covered corpses. Standing on all fours, they seem more like undead hounds than men.

John casts a spell and prepares for the battle.

Pavo eyes the beasts and tries to figure out what they can do, recognizing all of them...including the polyp mass. Nice rolls! Setting up to capitalize on their superior tactics, he waits.

Egg fires another arrow, missing by inches, and moves away.

The pistol weirder holds his ground, sure this tactic will work favorably.

Yelek too eagerly awaits their opponents.

The ghouls scurry towards you, funneling into the cramped hallway. Quint pops off a shot, blowing apart of cinderblock. Pavo tries to capitalize on his extended reach, but his blade catches the corner of the wall. Ready for the foul creature, Yelek slashes it, dropping the first through the door way.

The two ghouls in tow skid to a stop and slip behind the doorway. Meanwhile the festrog nods to the mass in the middle of the room and dodges behind a pillar.

Pavo:

For clarification, your readied action was to brace if they charged, yes?

Due to the hard corner Yelek, you had to move one more step forward to hit the ghoul, so I took the liberty of moving you forward.
Egg, the hard corner also prevents you from shooting at the enemy from your location. At later levels, that won't be an issue for a Zen Archer. Turned your attack roll into a readied for you.

John and Pavo hold to their tactical, certain the foes will tire before they do.

Egg moves forward, but holds back in the hallway. Not wanting to give them easy access, he readies an arrow to shoot the first mobile undead that comes into site.

Reloading Quint prepares to prove himself vs the undead beasts.

Yelek proves the nagaji's infamous lack of patience as he rushes forward and cuts down another ghoul.

The remaining ghoul lashes out at the scaled man in a sea of gnashing teeth and ripping claws. Though its claws bounce off his tough skin, the pointy teeth find their mark.

Charging forward, the festrog tries to taste the mans flesh. Just as it reaches Yelek, an arrow flies of the nagaji's shoulder and impales the beast. "RAWggrrr" screams the undead. One of it's boils explodes all over Yelek as it buries its teeth deep into the man.

They stole Quint's good rolls... :P

posting by phone so hope someone can move me in the room with Yelek at least 5ft away from an opponent. My move is 30 if I have to take a double move or suffer an AoO to get in position I do it.( that is end my movement at least 5 ft away from an opponent in the room with the undead) Quint moves quickly into the room with the undead to assist his scaled friend. He tries to avoid snapping jaws and reaching claws as he navigates into firing position. When satisfied he's reached a good spot he levels his gun and fires. gun: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4dmg: 1d8 ⇒ 4 As his gun clicks only a small click can be heard and a small puff of smoke comes out of Quint's barrel.Gods be damned ! Disgusting ..but, fascinating. John now has ghoul fever - grats? And the reason you have to roll 2x on the ghoul fever is because of the mass. You have to roll 2x and take the worse anytime ghoul fever disease demands a roll while you are within a mile of it.

Quint, none of those help with the massive thing. Pavo knows what it is though (Religion roll)

Combat Over

I'm beat --> will push us onward in the morning
In the mean time - you have a hallway full of debris and a closed door - the hallway would require you to dig out the debris to gain access to the next room. Profession miner or something similar would reduce the time required. The digging tools supplied would also help with this

If you decide to dig it out now, I'd need 6 survival rolls as you work vs exhaustion -- You can roll perceptions for the room as well (or I'll roll them in the morning)

Assuming Pavo shares the information beneath the GM's spoiler about the living mass of flesh before us.

I say Pavo, have you ever seen it's like in your days...or ever studied about such horrid things? I mean it's flesh is rotting and dead... Quint plugs his noise to emphasize the point. But the mass still squirms...something undead? Do you have any idea?

when/if Pavo reveals what the mass is::
You don't say? A necrotic Polyp huh? Can't say I've ever heard of such a thing..And you need not worry...I had no plans of touching the retched thing!...But, the part about dying a mile or closer away from it...as I mentioned before, I'm not one to give the afterlife much thought but,...running around as an undead flesh hungry monster after my demise... Quint wipes some sweat from his brow, well it's a little, disconcerting ...to be sure Quint swallows a large lump in his throat.

Quint examines the collapsed passage and says, Well I'm no engineer but that looks like it's going to take some time to dig through! I imagine this is one of the collapsed passages that Captain Bennary spoke about. Quint un-ties the pick from his backpack. After hefting it on his shoulder he says, Seeing how this is the only way forward..and we've only three days to complete our mission...best to get started.. With that Quint sets down his pack holsters his gun and sets to work on clearing the passage.

Quint pulls out his pick and starts whacking at the debris. Meanwhile the others take a quick look around the room. Yelek, Pavo, and John suddenly notice some sigils on the wall. A crack near the floor shows some flickering light from behind it.

Grats! You three found a secret door! Marked with a red 'S'

Limited stats given on the polyp so we'll say it fails all the will saves. This thing is a beast to kill, but as long as no one physically touches it as Pavo has already warned you, it can't do anything on it's own to hurt you

John looks at the options available and shrugs, "I think we should certainly kill this thing first." Then he looks at the large chunks of flesh missing from his body and thinks, I should definitely ask Pavo to help me out after this thing is dead.

As Pavo runs up to touch it his brow furrows, "didn't you say not to touch it? Was that to protect us or are you just trying to take all the glory? He says this last part with an obvious sarcastic glee then casts a quick spell and points at the blob, a dollop of acid zipping towards it.
