Dustfingers, you go to check underneath. As you kneel down, you catch the sight of glowing eyes and writhing tendrils on a rodent-like face. You hear three loud hisses before whatever is underneath the boiler rushes out at you!

It looks like Devram is between us in the Initiative order. Is he up, as well?

"Aaagh! I don't think rat-things are related to boiler function!" Renlo exclaims, as whatever it is rushes into view. Lightning crackles at Renlo's fingertips then zaps from his hand towards the creature.

Damage: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5

I'm currently behind Dustfingers. Could you describe proximity of enemies to me, as well as the size of the room? I gather there's one in front of Dustfingers, but are there others?


Yes! Devram is as well, just mis-posted.

All three are in front of Dustfingers but have yet to move into melee range with him. They room is about 20 feet north to south and about thirty east to west. So they're easily within point blank range of you.

Are you firing at the tendril-faced one or one of the others?

We'll go with the tendril-faced one. It's the one you described in the combat start post. That room description is very helpful.


By the by, you all may make Knowledge Nature and Knowledge Planes checks to identify the creatures if you are trained in those skills (or may make them untrained for some reason).

Crying out in surprise, by instinct Dustfingers lashed out with his hands, the flesh of his fingers splitting as claws extended from the tips.

Full-round attack to try and hit with both claws.

Devram's eyes go wide when sees the tendril faced creatures. "Watch out!" Before he can really register what he's doing, He steps forward and brings the long-handled hammer around and down in a swift attack on one of the creatures.

Attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 6 = 10
Damage: 1d12 + 7 ⇒ (10) + 7 = 17

Devram has 10 foot reach with his lucerne hammer


Dustfingers, both attacks are successful, as is Renlo's blast. Devram, your attack does miss, though it comes quite close and breaks the tile on the ground as the powerful hammer impacts the ground. Fifteen and Luccia?

The non-tendril rodents are definitely Dire Rats, Renlo.

Fifteen stares at the tentacled thing, now dropped by repeated blows. Her mind proceeds slowly to recall information about the creature.

She's so absorbed by this fact that she barely remembers to draw her dagger...

I think I struck out at the "zoog" on my first attack, so I'll do it again.

Dodging the wild swing of Devram, Dustfingers' claws made to strike again.
