I want to break free
I want to break free
I want to break free from your lies
You're so self satisfied I don't need you
I've got to break free
Aroden knows, Aroden knows I want to break free
I've fallen in love
I've fallen in love for the first time
And this time I know it's for real
I've fallen in love, yeah
Aroden knows, Aroden knows I've fallen in love
It's strange but it's true
I can't get over the way you hate me like you do
But I have to be sure
When I break down your door door
Oh how I want to be free, baby
Oh how I want to be free
Oh how I want to break free
But life still goes on
I think I can get used to living without, living without
Living without you in my side
I don't want to live alone, hey
Aroden knows, got to make it on my own
So Thrune can't you see
I've got to break free
I've got to break free
I want to break free, yeah
I want, I want, I want, I want to break free

Ok, now I can't get the picture of Freddy Mercury in drag out of my head. Just a little too on-the-nose for my character. :)

great, now that's stuck in my head.

"I can cover you while you make your escape"
there are only two thugs left correct?
Farrina the Fabulous |
When the bard bursts out in some elaborate song venerating a dead god Sagar rolls his eyes, "Let's leave the moron. All sensible people should retreat."
"As should we," Farrina agrees.
Beorn the Divine |
All together now! PUT YOUR BACKS INTO IT!
Beorne grabs a handle of the ram and charges with the crowd.
DM Ragnarok |
And then the forums didn't work yesterday!
Sagar, your attack landed and drops your foe; you all have put a few of the thugs into unconsciousness, and the remaining ones are wary of your prowess. Instead of continuing to engage, they drag away their wounded members, eyeing you with caution but offering no further combat.
The crowd parts around you, many of them fleeing due to your words and actions, and you know that for now discretion is the better part of valor. You retreat from the chaos of the park.
As you head through the city of Kintargo, using back alleys and side-streets, you do hear the clash of steel on steel in one of the side alleys. Stopping to investigate, you all see a chaotic melee.
Four thugs, wearing the same armbands as the group you just fought, lie on the ground, seemingly unconscious. A well dressed Human male with dark hair, a mustache and goatee falls unconscious amidst five other thugs. Some of you notice that he is wearing one glove...
The thugs move around, all raising their maces for what's sure to be a final blow.
What do you do?
They are intent on their victim and have not noticed you; you have a surprise round. They are thirty feet away and all within ten feet of each other at most.
When you post your surprise round action, roll initiative as well. I will roll initiative when you and an enemy group roll at the same time.
Sagar Faraux |
Seeing the man being assaulted by four thugs and then seeing the one glove, Sagar does not hesitate. "We have to save that man."
He then rushes of, blade drawn.
Initiative: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (9) + 4 = 13
Standard (surprise) Charge a thug (-2 on AC for me)

Crit confirm: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (13) + 7 = 20 Extra Damage: 1d10 ⇒ 6
14 damage total

Seeing the man being assaulted by four thugs and then seeing the one glove, Sagar does not hesitate. "We have to save that man."
He then rushes of, blade drawn.
"We!? When did 'I' become a part of 'We'?" Farrina exclaims after the charging half-elf. "I am getting the f$~~ out of here, that's what I am doing."
No, he's right - we need to rescue him.
"Says who? What we need to do is save our asses."
Farrina takes a half step away from the melee.
We're not leaving him there alone.
"You've gotta be ... arrgghhh!"
The Colorful One turns back to the five thugs moving towards the one-gloved man on the ground. Reaching into her cloak, she grasps the amulet hanging at her neck.
"We are so going to be discussing this later," she says as her face grimaces in concentration.

Dayne Garrion |
Initiative: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6
Dayne dives headlong into another melee. Shield first, he pushes into a thug (one who isn't asleep, if any) in an attempt to push them away and out of range of their floored victim.
Bull Rush at the end of a Charge, hoping to push them out of striking distance.
Bull Rush: 1d20 + 3 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 3 + 2 + 2 = 16
or 14 if you think the charging bonuses don't stack. See here. If they are flat-footed, I don't provoke.
DM Ragnarok |
Sagar, you drop one of the men outright.
Dayne, your bull rush attempt is successful; they are currently flat-footed.
Farrina, assuming the DC is 15 (please list in the future :)) three of the remaining four thugs fall asleep!
Tilorean Vashnarstill |
Looking for this kind of trouble is not going to go well . . .. Worrying about the consequences even as he acts, Til charges the last remaining standing opponent.
Charge Attack: 1d20 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 4 + 2 = 9
Damage vs Flat-Footed: 1d6 + 1 + 1d6 ⇒ (5) + 1 + (3) = 9

Beorne points at the remaining thug
Did you hear the one about Abrogail's bad habits?
Casting Hideous Laughter DC 13
his spell afflicts the subject with uncontrollable laughter. It collapses into gales of manic laughter, falling prone. The subject can take no actions while laughing, but is not considered helpless. After the spell ends, it can act normally. On the creature’s next turn, it may attempt a new saving throw to end the effect. This is a full round action that does not provoke attacks of opportunity. If this save is successful, the effect ends. If not, the creature continues laughing for the entire duration.

Beorne points at the remaining thug
Did you hear the one about Abrogail's bad habits?
Even though the setup line wasn't directed at her, Farrina can't help but respond.
"What? That the stitching's tearing, the color is fading, and it only takes a casual wink to get her out of them?"
She doesn't wear a habit.
"Shelyn's tits, Francis. That's why it's funny! No wonder you couldn't hack it on stage."
DM Ragnarok |
The remaining thug begins laughing uncontrollably.
You all have one round to act while three thugs are helpless and one is prone, cackling at Beorn's wit.
Rather than roll into initiative, you have one full round in which you all may act.
What do you do?
Dayne Garrion |
Dayne moves to pick up the mysterious mustachioed man and get him to safety.

Dayne moves to pick up the mysterious mustachioed man and get him to safety.
"Fine, so we've now saved Mr. One-Glove. Can we get the f*@+ out of here now?" Farrina asks. Although it's not entirely clear whom she's asking, there's little doubt about what answer she'd prefer.
also curious if Farrina knows who the fellow is

"I didn't think there'd be any Victocoras left in the city. Let get out of here. Do you know anywhere we could lie low? My shop is clear on the other side of town."
Sagar Faraux |
Sagar keeps his blade ready to strike any of the thugs while the other carry his wounded contact away.
Once they are in the clear and Dayne mentions looking for a hiding place Sagar nods, "I know a spot. Follow me."
Once all are in the clear Sagar leads them to an empty Empty Quiver.

"Hmm. I didn't know they locked this place down." He sighs before turning around to the others, "The owner of this place is somewhat of an acquaintance of mine. He was arrested during the Night of Ashes. He'd be quite fine with supporting those that went against Thrune and helped the people."
Dayne Garrion |
"What are the chances someone is home?"
Farrina the Fabulous |
"What are the chances someone is home?"
"Let's find out, shall we?" Farrina says as she steps forward and briskly knocks on the door.
"Hello?" she calls out in a cheery voice. "Anyone home?"
Farrina the Fabulous |
"We'll I hope nobody expects me to try something like that," Farrina says, crossing her arms defensively in front of herself.
"I'm a performer," she adds, as if that explains everything.
Dayne Garrion |
"Do we know whose property this is?"
Tilorean Vashnarstill |
"Doesn't matter, it is off the streets, which is where we need to be. Here. Help hold him up." as he pushes his share of the limp form at the performer.
Then he pulls a little rope out of his backpack and tries to feed it between the clasp and the door . . .. If he gets it through, he'll pull the rope even(ish). "Everybody who can, grab hold and let's see if we can't pull the clasp off together."
DM Ragnarok |
Beorn, with your mighty pull, the lock breaks and the door opens!
There doesn't seem to be anyone or anything inside. A thick layer of dust is immediately evident; clearly, it has been some time since anyone has been in this place. It does seem to have been thankfully untouched by any looters or other unsavory types.
You can easily close the doors again, and it is still light out so you don't exactly have to worry about a light source; enough ambient sunlight filters through the shuttered window to count as dim light.
What do you all do?
Tilorean Vashnarstill |
"C'mon, let's get inside. We can worry about those details after we're not obvious targets for the thugs." Til gathers his rope back, and then pulls the doors closed behind him as the last one into the space.
Then he starts looking around . . .. "So, where are we,anyway?"
Dayne Garrion |
Picking up a dusty menu from the bar, Dayne reads "The Empty Quiver. Empty is...accurate."
"We need to give this guy some space." Dayne carfully lays out the man we rescued. will try and provide First Aid/ assess the damage.
