Olaf Lodbrok |

Perception: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 11
Olaf looks over the orchard, distracted slightly by a horrible son the voices in his head were singing.
"I see apples, wonderful. No hobs to smash, sadly."

Carthas Brambleroad |

Perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (12) + 8 = 20
"No hobs, perhaps, but look there," Carthas points towards the wasp nest. "There appears to be a massive wasp's nest in there - you'll have a hard time smashing them as they sting us to death. Let me see if I can think of a way to drive them off."
Knowledge (nature): 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (15) + 8 = 23
Craft (alchemy): 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (7) + 8 = 15
To see what I know about wasps and if I know how to drive them off.

Carthas Brambleroad |

Hmmm...I was hoping for an alternative solution like "smoke them out" or "make this alchemical concoction that repels wasps, but I guess I can just shell the wasp's nest with bombs.

Olaf Lodbrok |

"Wasps! Bah, I can't smash them and the ghosts have given me no magic against them."
Looking speculatively at the alchemist.
"You have fire, do you not? Let's burn them then get these apples."

Carthas Brambleroad |

"I do, yes. But first, you and Otho should light torches. The smoke and fire may help if the swarm comes for us."
Once Olaf and Otho have done so, Carthas will mix up an explosive formula, along with some plant matter for an extra kick, then throw a bomb at the wasp's nest.
Bomb: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (15) + 4 = 19
Damage: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9
I'm using my briar bombs ability, which adds the tanglefoot bomb property to my bombs (DC 14 Reflex save or be entangled).

GM R0B0GEISHA |

1d20 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 11
1d20 + 2 ⇒ (19) + 2 = 21
1d20 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 2 = 11
1d20 + 1 ⇒ (9) + 1 = 10
The flask explodes upon impact with the hive. Rather than blanketing the nest and surrounding branches with fire, vines erupt from the glass, wrapping the hive tightly like a parody of an Osirian mummy.
Surprise round is over and the swarm is entangled! How do vines entangle thousands of wasps? Who knows? Pathfinder rules can be weird sometimes. Everybody may now act.

Carthas Brambleroad |

Carthas mixes up the same compound sans plant material and throws it at the nest.
Bomb: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (16) + 4 = 20
Damage: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5
No briar bomb this time, since they are glued in place, as per the tanglefoot bag alchemical item.

Otho Goodbarrel |

Otho pulls back the bow string and lets an arrow fly towards the nest, hoping to do some damage to it.
Ranged Attack: 1d20 + 2 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (13) + 2 + 3 + 1 = 19 (+2 BAB, +3 Dex, +1 Size)
Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 2

Olaf Lodbrok |

That nest looks pretty dry, light it on fire!... bah, I do not want to dig a torch out right now... No, try this...
Lacking a better idea, Olaf follows his head ghosts suggestion and makes several motions and gestures and a few strange words, hoping it was not a ploy to make him look foolish.
Gonna try spark on the nest/entangled bees. DC 11, but I'm not sure if it counts as unattended

GM R0B0GEISHA |

1d20 + 1 ⇒ (9) + 1 = 10
1d6 ⇒ 1
2d6 ⇒ (4, 3) = 7
wasp-
I'll allow it, Olaf.
Olaf's spell lights the vine and tar covered nest, which begins to slowly burn. Similarily, Otho's arrow jabs into the hive, killing a few of the wasps. It is Carthas's bomb that does real damage, the explosion tears hunks of burning paper and wax from the construction and destroying the nearby drones lucky enough to escape the briar bomb.
The swarm remains entangled and cannot move. Everybody can now act!

Carthas Brambleroad |

Carthas again mixes up the same compound sans plant material and throws it at the nest.
Bomb: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9
Landing: 1d8 ⇒ 8
Carthas tosses his bomb, but his aim is off and it lands short and to the right of the nest, only splashing it.
I missed the target, but I'm only 1 range increment away, so it falls short and to the right based on that roll, dealing splash damage (4) to the nest since it's adjacent (see diagram).
X N X
X X B
N=Nest
B=Bomb
X=Empty Space

Otho Goodbarrel |

Seeing that the arrow managed to do some damage, Otho fires another at the nest.
Ranged Attack: 1d20 + 2 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 2 + 3 + 1 = 10 (+2 BAB, +3 Dex, +1 Size)
Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 1

Olaf Lodbrok |

Seeing Othos arrows having more effect than his magic, Olaf grabs a throwing axe from his belt and hucks it at the nest.
Attack: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6
Damage: 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6

Carthas Brambleroad |

The Wasp's nest dealt with, Carthas says, "Now, let's see about gathering up those apples."
Spend the day gathering apples. Can we just take 20 for that?
