Dotting, 15 pt buy is a challenge, But I reckon it adds to the scary factor you're going for :P
Yes. For the theme I'm going for, the PCs will be heroes but not super heroes. The first time I ran this campaign I think I did a 20 pt buy and the PCs were able to steamroll through certain encounters. I'm not against 20 or 25 pt buys in the right setting but for this setting I think 15 points fits best.

I've decided I'm going to post my Wizard anyways, maybe you'll like the character enough that you'll accept it. I suggest using the Heroic array for NPCs, it's done on 15.
As to leadership, the archetype changes how it works, but it isn't something I do take, it's something I may take, as may any other 7th level character with GM permission, but quick question would you mind me bumping the character up an age category? I'd envisioned him as a life long academic who decides to take adventuring up after his protoge is kidnapped.
| GM Peachbottom |
Korak, go for it. I honestly like your concept. I was worried about the followers but if you keep it to the one cohort, it could work. As for the age category, I'd prefer no old or young templates, but you may be able to persuade me to allow a middle-age character if you present it the right way. Definitely no older than that though.

Middle aged is exactly what I was going for, I'm thinking polarized into action partly from mid life crisis, apprentice being kidnapped, and framed for murder, so somebody very very pissed off with Mr. Lamm. Like I said the character is a life long academic, he's spent the bulk of his time studying but never making the breakthroughs that equal heroic levels. He has however proven effective at teaching and as such was employed at Anomanexus College to teach the basics before being drummed out in shame because of the proven false murder charge. All this as well as I want the bonus mental stats and want to have been alive long enough to grow a decent wizard beard. (think billy Gibbons but brown}

Poking in again, Crunch is done, apart from really spending starting gold( I just wrote a few things down on combat gear thus far) . I went with the 'Framed' campaign trait so I'll update in the next day or two with a backstory that ties it all together, and a good description of the character. I'm imagining his fetish-mask will be that elaborate animal-headed head-piece he's wearing and it'll grow progressively more twisted and unnatural looking as he grows in power. He's not evil, but he's not seen much good in the world, and the good people he has encountered have tried to frame him for murder, driven him from villages, etc. As such, he'll begin the game with a fiercely independent attitude

What's your ruling on firearms in the campaign? Got a couple of different ideas floating around: One is a Spellscar Drifter exiled from Alkenstar, and the other is a Slayer native to Korvosa, and the Spellscar Drifter uses firearms for his class. If it's no on firearms, then I'll definately go for the slayer.

I have been trying to get this poor little guy into a game somewhere, so I'm gonna try this AP again and see if I can't do him right this time. I'll rework him with the 15 point buy and submit him.
Short version: he's a kobold who used to toil under him, beaten and left for dead, promptly discovered he has sorcery in his blood and now swears revenge on Lamm and become so mighty that nobody will ever mistreat him again. He's garish, brash, and zealously proud of every bit of it.

Well, here is Grognar Mal-Nek, Half-Orc Slayer.
...And was promptly captured by a Hobgoblin slaving party. Sold to another Orc tribe as slave labor, he toiled for several years until a slave rebellion gave him the opportunity to escape. Along the way, he joined up with a Half-Elf woman, who asked that he accompany her back to her family in Korvosa. He agreed, and carefully dodging their Hobgoblin pursuers, spent months journeying together.
...And fell in love along the way. When they finally arrived in Korvosa, her parents were overjoyed at the return of their only child, though less than pleased at the man with her. Grognar pledged himself to the woman's family, though it didn't help her father learn to like him any more. They spent three years together happily, even with the father's snide comments, until one fateful day...
Grognar came home from work at a nearby lumber yard to find the walls of his home covered in blood, his wife's still warm body stripped and covered in various bodily fluids. She had been raped and tortured for what looked like hours, until her attackers killed her by slicing her neck and wrists, nearly cutting off her hands with their efforts. Carved into the flesh of her stomach was a crude drawing of a lamb.
He now dedicates himself to tracking down any and all connections to Gaedren Lamm to exact his revenge.
So, whatcha think?

With so many good applicants already, I'm going to cut off new applications at the end of the day today, 8/17. Anyone who's already applied or dotted will still have until Friday the 21st to finalize their characters. I hate having to cut quality applicants but I'm still sticking to only a four character party so it's already going to be a hard decision. But that's just the nature of the beast I suppose.
The Friday deadline will give me the weekend to start the gameplay thread and anything else I might need to do and then we'll start next Monday the 24th.

Deko, the slayer looks good too.
Iff, GMT is fine. It doesn't have to be EST time. Anywhere in the US, Canada, etc. is fine actually. I live in New York. I'm just saying, if someone was on the other side of the world, we'd be out of whack, but I'm not going to be a big stickler on this point. It's mostly just a preference.

Strongly interested!
@GM Peachbottom: Before I submit my character, I would like to know if that "experience" you mention in the first post must be specifically with PbP campaigns or with Pathfinder campaigns and adventure paths in general. The reason is that I can consider myself "expert" only in the latter.

I don't think I wrote anything about requiring any players to have any specific experience. I listed some of my own experience. I've played/run Rise of the Runelords, Curse of the Crimson Throne, and Legacy of Fire. Also numerous campaigns in the Forgotten Realms, Greyhawk, and Dark Sun setting.
Your backstory and character sheet will give me the best indication if I think you'll fit in this campaign I'm starting. Experience with PbP campaigns is not a factor. Like I mentioned, this will be my first campaign run on the Paizo.com website, so who am I to judge.

Thank you! Guess I misunderstood that "mature players".

Here I am, ready to protect you and our city in these dark times if the Gods will choose me.
2. I've chosen the missing sibling trait, but the benefits are written for 3.5 (gather information). I assumed I could just switch it with Diplomacy, even though that has no impact on the game (Diplomacy and Sense Motive are alredy class skills for my character)
3. I've not chosen any archetype: I'll do it later if I get selected, based on other party members choices.
4. Sorry if the text contains some errors: English is not my mother language (I'm Italian, actually one of the italian translators of the Pathfinder products)

2. Yes, Gather Information is now part of Diplomacy. This campaign was written in 3.5 format so there is a little tweeking required.
3. Archetypes are not required but are allowed. Not a problem.| GM Peachbottom |
Here's all the entries received so far I believe. If I missed someone, let me know. I know there were a few people who dotted the thread but didn't specify the character they are submitting yet. There are enough good choices here that I'm closing new applications. Those listed below still have until Friday 8/21 to finalize their submissions. I pretty much am going to pick one character from the four categories, Martial, Arcane, Divine, and Support, to make a balanced party. Good luck everyone.
Martial
Rorek55 - Ranger (Sable Company Marine)
Talin Moonscar – NG Human Ranger (Sable Company Marine)
Grognar Mal-Nek – CG Half-Orc Slayer
Hurley – Human Swashbuckler
Lucien Endrin – LG Human Paladin
Flyn Rider – Bloodrager (Rage Shaper)
Arcane
Nadya Dimineata – CG Samsaran Witch (Cartomancer)
Dikembe – CN Half-Orc Witch (Scarred Witch Doctor)
Korak – Wizard (Instructor)

I'm sorry Lily Charis and Azzeriz Wyrmclaw but kobolds just don't fit what I'm looking for. I feel it's best to let you know now.
