Anzath |

Anzath gives Vael a grin over the fallen spider, yet her eyes go wide only in time to see the other spider advancing on the tiefling. Before she can shout a warning, she feels the pain of a pair of fangs sinking into her back. She feels the venom course through her veins and going straight to her head. The grogginess offsetting Tragershen’s magic, she can only turn on her heel and introduce Kritfisher to her new foe.
Kritfisher+Haste-light blindness: 1d20 + 9 + 1 - 1 ⇒ (6) + 9 + 1 - 1 = 15

Anzath |

le sigh... that could have been three attacks... at least I’m rolling high on damage. Next level, Vital Strike, for these very occasions.

Vael Dahl |

Returning the grin the temperamental Anzath gives her. Twisting around at the noise and flinching at the sound of her battle companion being stabbed by overly large fangs.
Twisting to lash out at the massive spider
scimitar + haste: 1d20 + 9 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 9 + 1 = 14 What the hell?

GM Parrot |

Scimitar of Hasty Vael: 1d20 + 9 + 1 ⇒ (16) + 9 + 1 = 261d6 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5
Vael's blurring speed allows her to recover from her miss with a well-aimed backhand.
Talathel staggers back 30 feet towards the caravan.

But then, she takes another massive bite and dose of poison. Her duration extends, and her DC goes up by 2.

Vael dodges her spider again.
Gelver Longsword: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (20) + 5 = 251d8 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4
Gelver hacks a chunk out of his.

Fort Save: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (6) + 8 = 141d3 ⇒ 3
And it finally crunches through his armor, though his burly frame processes the poison, no problem.

Tragershen |

Tragershen scans the battle scene and determines Azath needs a reprieve.
I would like to cast web in such a way that it ensnares the spider facing off with Anzath. Can I stretch it from one side of the road to the other at an angle that doesn't catch any PCs? Or from the ground to branches overhead? I know it isn't at all likely, but if he could try to catch two spiders in it, it would be awesome! If Anzath's spider is not in such a position, perhaps he can target a different one and free up someone to help Anzath.

Aurora Fallowarc |

Aurora takes a moment to consider how horrible Talathel and Anzath are looking. She sighs and, uttering a prayer under her breath, invokes Nethys to give her a little extra magic sooner rather than later.
Using Magical Epiphany to prepare Delay Poison in one of Aurora's empty 2nd level slots as a standard action.

GM Parrot |

Confirm?: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10
Dang, Gelver doesn't confirm! Somehow I missed his nat 20--you can tell I'm not the player right there. Trag: I think a narrow forest path is the perfect environment for a Web spell. Anzath and Vael's spiders are both next to each other, so:
Ref: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (18) + 3 = 21
Ref: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (20) + 3 = 23
Ok, then! Spiders clearly at home in a Web.

Thanks. Hate to do tht to Vael, but at least I can stick out the fight a little bit more before having to abandon her yet again!

Bedlam Bottomland |

Bedlam takes out a flask, applies it to his heavy pick and swings for the fences!
heavy pick, Ghast retch flask: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (7) + 8 = 151d6 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 = 9
PFS Legal Ghast retch flask
Source Ultimate Equipment pg. 107 (Amazon)
Price 50 gp; Weight 1 lb.
Category Alchemical Weapons
Description
Harvested and concentrated from the remains of slain ghasts, this foul-smelling powder is kept in tightly sealed flasks. It is thrown as a splash weapon and the flask breaks on impact, releasing noxious dust. The target is nauseated for 1 round and sickened for 3 rounds after that. A successful DC 12 Fortitude save prevents the nauseated condition, but not the sickened condition. Creatures within 5 feet of where the flank hits are sickened for 1 round. This is a poison effect. Crafting this item is a DC 20 Craft (alchemy) check.

Craft (Alchemy) DC 20

AOO for drawing a flask: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (7) + 6 = 13

Tal's Fort Save: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 2 = 91d3 ⇒ 1
Tal continues to fade. He has less CON than a common toad.
Anzath, Vael, and Talathel may act!

Vael Dahl |

Life is insane at the moment. I forgot the extra hit from haste and was that 13 dmg to Vael?
Growling in agitation at the whole situation and lashing out with her blade at the spider in-front of her.

Anzath |

Anzath continues to face off with her spider. Still under the effects of the venom in her blood, she steadies herself and focuses on her foe, waiting for it to expose a weakness.
Taking a move action to Study Target. Sigh.

Tragershen |

Tragershen raises an eyebrow at Bedlam's engagement with the spider, truly impressed at whatever he did to rock the spider onto its back legs.
Seeing that the spiders are not truly restrained by the webbing and still attacking the Anzath and Vael, Tragershen acts.
Moving with amazing speed, he closes the distance to the melee. He moves to one side of his two allies, enough to be able to get a spell past them. In the hissing tongue of ignan, he utters an arcane syllable and a gout of flame shoots from his outstretched fingertips, engulfing the spiders and setting the web ablaze.
Move action to get 60' up to the melee. He'll go to the side of Anzath and cast burning hands, catching the spiders that are facing the two of them.
Damage 5d4 + 0 ⇒ (4, 2, 3, 1, 3) + 0 = 13, DC 15 reflex save for half damage.
Plus, he sets the web on fire, dealing 2d4 ⇒ (4, 1) = 5 damage to the two spiders (I don't believe there is a save on that part of the damage).

Aurora Fallowarc |

Aurora reaches over to set a hand on the spear-wielding elf's shoulder, murmuring softly, "Sorry, Talathel."
With that, she turns and darts over to whatever Anzath-adjacent square is safest from spiders, taking her holy symbol in hand and uttering an incantation while her fingers trail through the air over Anzath before finally tapping her. She smiles wanely at the half-drow.
Delay Poison — The subject becomes temporarily immune to poison. Any poison in its system or any poison to which it is exposed during the spell’s duration does not affect the subject until the spell’s duration has expired. Delay poison does not cure any damage that poison may have already done.

Anzath's spider shudders in the flames, but it remains in the fight.

Bedlam Bottomland |

Bedlam looks the big, hairy, ugly vermin in its eyes.
Be reminding me of ma cousin, Gnarl Oakstone.
The dwarf then applies an Alchemists Fire to his heavy pick, grinning and swinging!
Aim fer da whites of its eyes!: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (19) + 8 = 271d6 + 6 + 1d6 ⇒ (1) + 6 + (5) = 12
At 2nd level, a grenadier can infuse a weapon or piece of ammunition with a single harmful alchemical liquid or powder, such as alchemist’s fire or sneezing powder, as a move action. This action consumes the alchemical item, but transfers its effect to the weapon in question.
The alchemical item takes full effect on the next creature struck by the weapon, but does not splash, spread, or otherwise affect additional targets. Any extra damage added is treated like bonus dice of damage, and is not doubled on a critical hit. The alchemical treatment causes no harm to the weapon treated, and wears off 1 minute after application if no blow is struck. At 6th level, a grenadier can use her alchemical weapon ability as a swift action. At 15th level, this ability becomes a free action.
This ability replaces poison resistance

GM Parrot |

Bedlam: I'm curious about the order of operations here. Move action to draw the flask, move action to apply, standard to attack looks like three to me, and probably you soak one AOO for the move to draw. For now I'll run the attack as without the flask (7 damage).

Bedlam's spider tries to bite him:

It can't seem to latch on the the dwarf.

Anzath |

Anzath quickly looks over her shoulder at Aurora as she suddenly feels the effects of the spider venom clear. But, her eyes are pulled beyond Aurora, to Talathel, still staggered, still standing, somehow. Determination set, she returns her attention to the spider and its extermination.

Bedlam Bottomland |

I am under the impression that drawing the alchemical item is part of the Move Action to use the ability; similar to drawing spell components for casting a soell. No AoO.

Anzath |

Oh! I thought that ran out already. So, +1 to those rolls, and...
Kritfisher+ST+Haste: 1d20 + 7 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 7 + 2 + 1 = 14
dmg: 1d6 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 4 + 2 = 8
So does that extra attack suffer from TWF penalties? If not, please add +2 to the attack roll.

Anzath |

Ah Light Blindness >.< Deduct 1 from all those attack rolls.

GM Parrot |

I am under the impression that drawing the alchemical item is part of the Move Action to use the ability; similar to drawing spell components for casting a soell. No AoO.
I read through a long argument on the forums and was convinced by the all-one-action team, particularly because the "free action" evolution would make zero sense if it was constrained by having to take a move every time you pulled a flask of something to jam it into your next attack. Damage reinstated. The AOO is not an issue, either, Su doesn't provoke.

Vael Dahl |

I do not think I am close enough to hit twice, sadly.
The flames lick up the overly large arachnid in-front of her and smiling when it stops moving. Twisting and rushing towards the spider harassing Anzath.
scimitar + haste: 1d20 + 9 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 9 + 1 = 17
dmg: 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10

GM Parrot |

Vael puts down the spider, chopping its skull neatly in half.
Gelver lashes out with his longsword, growling and grumbling and shrieking:
Longsword: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 101d8 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4
...but it ricochets of the monster's carapace. She responds by trying to inject him with poison:
Bite: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (12) + 6 = 181d8 + 6 ⇒ (7) + 6 = 13
...but she can't get through Gelver's steel carapace any more than he could get through her chitin.
Tragershen, Talathel, Aurora, and Bedlam may act! Two spiders remain, and Bedlam's is teetering...

Bedlam Bottomland |

Bedlam charges the remaining spider.

Aurora Fallowarc |

With her immediate patient taken care of for the moment, Aurora returns to the expectant one. Poor Talathel. I never want to see another spider again in my life. She sets a hand against his shoulder and winces at the sudden feeling of exposure as the magic of her faith leeches off into him. "The others have it handled, now, I'm sure..."
Resistant Touch — As a standard action, you can touch an ally to grant them your resistance bonus for 1 minute. When you use this ability, you lose your resistance bonus granted by the Protection domain for 1 minute. Take that +2 to saves, Talathel.

Tragershen |

Tragershen weighs his options. He does have some powerful magic in reserve, but he does not know what these woods yet hold for them. He opts for a minor spell, hoping it will be enough to tip the balance against the remaining spider.
Acid Splash.
Ranged touch to hit 1d20 + 5 + 1 - 4 ⇒ (19) + 5 + 1 - 4 = 21

GM Parrot |

The final spider shudders and falters, but it does not yet fall.
I think this means Tal gets to shoot one arrow before... before we see what happens.
These forest spiders are very tough. In one of my old Rappan Athuk games we rolled them once and they killed 5/6 of us. The rogue survived by luck of the draw--when the party agreed to scatter, there were three spiders and four PCs left. We were also level 2, I think, when the random table decreed our deaths.

As soon as her spider falls, Anzath turns to see Tal loose an arrow. She rushes to the elven warrior’s side as fast as her feet can carry her.
