Anzath's Alchemist's Fire burns up the spiders in one shot. As you look into the gloom beyond them, you hear strange squeaky noises: somewhere in the darkness bats are lurking.

Bat Swarm

Talathel sees a swarm of tiny bats in the air ahead--his charge peters out as he realizes he'd have thousands of spearthrusts ahead if he was going to take down the creatures.

They envelop the elven lore warden and start biting any exposed flesh:

Swarm Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 5

Distraction: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (20) + 4 = 24

He takes five damage and has this going on, too: Any living creature damaged by a bat swarm continues to bleed, losing 1 hit point per round thereafter. Multiple wounds do not result in cumulative bleeding loss. The bleeding can be stopped by a DC 10 Heal check or the application of a cure spell or some other healing magic.

Invisible Demons:
The pestilenzi are disappointed in the spiders. The one who lost the bugs starts dialing up another swarm from the Abyss. The other maintains concentration on the bats--it flutters over to keep an eye on its swarm.

Anzath, Vael, and Talathel are only aware of the bat swarm that is now chewing on Tal. All may act. The rest of the party will arrive after this round due to short legs and dawdling.

Tragershen sees two invisible pestilenzi demons hovering just behind Vael, Anzath, and Talathel. They seem to be concentrating on keeping their summons up, but they are also grinning.

No matter how much Tal and Anzath flail at the swarms, they can't seem to meaningfully diminish the numbers of the tiny little beasts. Bats splatter, spiders squish, but more replace them. It'll take something more decisive than weapon damage to defeat the swarms.

I'm trying to target it behind the demons so it falls short of catching any of my allies in the blast radius.

That would have worked eventually (by the third round you get locations of the evil auras aka you'd have them aura-pinpointed about now, but they might have moved when they noticed the Detect) but Tragershen's dust has made it a moot point. Anzath chuckles to herself as she applies bandages to the bat wounds, or is she suppressing the zombie cough?

Does the original pestilenzi vanish or does the body remain?

Oh yeah

The natural pestilenzi is lying on the ground in a pool of blood. As Anzath kicks it over, its eyeballs fall out and rattle on the floor. After a moment's grossness, she notices that each eyeball is a valuable gemstone.

Anzath takes the gemstones and spits on the demon remains. She then hands the gemstone eyeballs to Tragershen, to see how valuable they REALLY are.

"Diz iz summoned demon, no?" she asks, referring to the summoning ritual book they found.

Instinct forces a step back and then as she moves forward towards the bats they are gone, because magic is painful for the brain. Sighing and wiping her blade off. Looking up from her task, "You trying to double up on plagues Anzath?"

Seeing that the fight is over and landing back on Vael's shoulder. Nipping at her ear again. Be nice!
