@Merisiel: I don't see Quickdraw in your stats and you don't have Shot on the Run either; do you wish to pull dagger as a move action and throw as a standard, with a 5-foot step before or after these actions? or do you wish to revise to melee attack from your position on map (teal would gain cover then). Please repost your actions. Thank you!
Orange, who had surrendered in a prone position and begged for mercy, is impacted by Geo's missile and now lies very still.

I'm assuming here that blue is unconscious? If not Kranzer will strike out with his shortswords again.
Kranzer sheathes his swords and flicks out his shortbow. He steps forward past the disabled Asmodean and fires an arrow at the first newcomer in the doorway.
shortbow: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (20) + 4 = 24
DMG: 1d6 ⇒ 3
crit confirmation: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5
Kranzer lashes out with both of his shortswords but will pull up once he's unconscious.
mwk shortsword, flanking: 1d20 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 4 + 2 = 23
DMG (slashing), sneak attack: 1d6 + 3 + 2d6 ⇒ (4) + 3 + (2, 5) = 14
mwk shortsword, flanking: 1d20 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 4 + 2 = 17
DMG (slashing), sneak attack: 1d6 + 1 + 2d6 ⇒ (4) + 1 + (4, 1) = 10
Kavor Doan
"He had surrendered! Focus on the ones we are fighting!"
Kavor Doan is revolted by the elf's cruelty. Fortunately, he had hit Orange with non-lethal damage earlier, so the man is hopefully still alive - if Geo doesn't CdG him.
GM PDK
@Kranzer: Blue is NOT unconscious, but disabled as per the post above i.e. at zero HP. I'll let you decide if you strike him or not, and let you know the results; let me know if my bookkeeping is unclear: I list the combatants by color, followed by damage taken, followed by condition; when they are dying I stop tracking HP.
@Kavor: please keep the OOC comments under OOC tags; thank you!
Kranzer Kraken-Mouth
No worries, I just saw the 'X' on the map and was somewhat confused, but am clear now, thanks for clarifying. Kranzer would attempt to put down blue before stepping forward to his current position.

Round 3 - Initiative 20 redux
Merisiel tumbles to the west side of the door, opposite Shrec. Let them come through the door and we've got them flanked!
Previous rolls can stand (acrobatics) and attack if you allow the melee attack with rapier through the door. If not, no attack this round and she will ready an attack instead for someone coming through the door in range of her sword. Apologies for the error in the dagger throw, was trying to be dramatic. If only there was a quick draw feat!
GM PDK
The feathered creature blasts another fiery spell, this time at Kavor, burning the dwarf badly!
Ranged Touch, vs. Touch AC of 9: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (11) + 5 = 16 for 4d6 ⇒ (6, 3, 6, 5) = 20 fire dmg. [HIT!] Not that it matters now, but your Touch AC is listed as 11 on your character sheet, with a Dex of 13 - a penalty of 4 pts. of Dex brings you to Touch AC 9; if this is otherwise please clarify actual character Dex on character sheet; thank you!
Purple, Teal and Black stand firm with Total Defense +4 AC, with Purple filling the hole left by his fallen comrade.

Dex is 14 this level with the floating +1 from Transmuter applied to Dex. But Touch AC in armor is 11, not 12, due to the max Dex of +1 for fullplate. -4 Dex results in a -1 to Touch AC. I fixed the sheet and profile. And I specified my earlier damage to Orange was non-lethal, written on both the attack roll and damage roll, taking the -4 to hit as you can see. Is he still dying? Is that a Heal or Perception check? If so, what type of action?
Merisiel Silthanon
Round 4 - Initiative 20
Merisiel dives directly between teal and purple in a roll, coming up behind purple in a flank with Shrec.
Acrobatics to avoid AOO 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (5) + 11 = 16
She slices at purple from behind and prepares to disrupt any spellcasting from the feathered creature in the back.
Melee Attack with Rapier on Purple, Flanking 1d20 + 8 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 8 + 2 = 18 Damage, Sneak Attack 1d6 + 3 + 2d6 ⇒ (4) + 3 + (3, 6) = 16
"Yeesh!" She cries out. "You all just won't see logic will ya?"
Kavor Doan
Oh yeah, you're fine Schrec, those are bad guys. I was talking to Geoclunicus but not using his name because we are theoretically undercover. He attacked an enemy that had surrendered rather than the ones to the north that are trying to kill us. Or is there another point of confusion?
GM PDK
@Kavor: orange is unconscious - not dying.
@Merisiel: Acrobatics to go through opponent squares fail, so you lose your move action and you are currently in front of teal with a standard action left (no AoOs provoked as they are in Total Defense mode)
@Shrec: of course the guys up north are bad - they've almost roasted Kavor alive!
Merisiel tries to dive between the two defenders but they'll have none of it! their defensive line holds!
Shrec, however, almost cleaves purple in two, leave an open road ahead.

Round 4 - Standard Action
Merisiel uses her action to walk past the defenders, stepping over their falling purple comrade as she does, and gets directly behind the flying caster in back. Why do I keep doing things the hard way?
"Thanks for clearing the path." Merisiel says to Shrec as she goes past the line that does not hold.
GM PDK
Sorry Merisiel, but your standard happened before Shrec cleared that path... pick something to do immediately after your failed tumble. Thanks!
AoO 1 vs. Meri: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4 for 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3 bludgeoning dmg. [MISS!]
AoO 2 vs. Meri: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (10) + 3 = 13 for 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8 bludgeoning dmg. [MISS!]
Merisiel Silthanon
Good grief. Who knew I was so terrible at this game. Also, who is AoOing me? Aren't they in full defense?
Merisiel executes a very standard stab in the direction of teal.
Standard Stab: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (9) + 8 = 17 Clean Hit, Hopefully: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6
Kavor Doan
Kavor Doan moves up (at half speed), charges his bola with Arcane Strike, and readies to throw it to interrupt the feathered creature's spellcasting.
Damage, Arcane Strike, Non-lethal: 1d4 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 3 + 1 = 8
Kranzer Kraken-Mouth
Kranzer huffs, seeing the clogged hallway and runs over to where Merisiel was standing. "I ain't no graceful elf but I'll give rolling in a shot, soon as...ugh...catch my breath."
Andracar
Andracar does a whole lot of nothing as his path was blocked by an elf, whereas he had hoped to swiftly end the encounter. Stupid stubby gnome legs.
GM PDK
Merisiel cleanly shivs Teal in a major organ.. he bends over in pain as his blood sprays out! No there was no AoO against you - I shouldn't post after 11pm...
The feathered creature attempts to cast a spell, but Kavor's bola catches her square in the mouth! "OOOMMPH!!!"
Concentration DC 20: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7 [SPELL FIZZLES HARMLESSLY!]
She casts a hateful glare at Kavor, spits blood to the floor below, and with a powerful beating of her wings, flies north and around the corner, retreating!
The men in front of you throw their weapons to the ground and put their hands in the air, kneeling in front of you...
COMBAT OVER
What do you do?
Kavor Doan
"Probably just business, my friend. They were here to guard the ones we came to collect."
He addresses the surrendering men.
"We have a job to do as well. We're taking Forvian Crowe and his men and leaving. You showed good sense throwing down your weapons. Keep showing good sense and find another town, another line of work, or another employer. Thrune's days in this town are numbered, and you don't need to die for them. If you report this, they'll send you after us to make up for your failure. That would end badly for you. So just disappear. I think you need to move fast - that feathered creature might rat you out."
GM PDK
"Huh... ok!" say the two leftover goons, almost in unison, agreeing with Kavor. They depart immediately.
Sleeping, dying, and dead fools everywhere.
Forvian Crow sluggishly lifts himself up and comes over to clasp Kavor across the forearm, "I don't know who sent you, but thanks are in order. But first.... do you happen to have water? I think I'm dying from thirst and feeling my eyeballs shrivel..."
Merisiel Silthanon
"Yes, we have supplies for you out front" Merisiel says. "This way!"
The elf will gather up her knives quickly and move to the front door to open it. The food, drink, and blankets from the wagon should help them. Let's make sure there are no surprises waiting there for us..
Assuming that the horse and wagon are still there, Merisiel will encourage the men to get in the back. She has the following stashed there: 4x Bread (8cp), 4x Cheese (4sp), 4x Jug (1sp 2cp), 3x Blanket (1gp 5sp). The jugs contain drinking water.
GM PDK
The men jump in the wagon post-haste, as fast as their exhausted bodies will allow them. They start gorging themselves with water, some showering themselves with some, as if a miracle just happened. They keep their voices low not to attract the guards patrolling the city walls just above, but they are incredibly happy.
Anything else before you leave?
Kavor Doan
Kavor Doan will use his wand of Disguise Self to take the appearance of a short human tinker. It will last 10 minutes, and he can re-up it when needed.
"Anybody else want this?"
Andracar
Andracar takes the weapon that was used to bludgeon him, leaving the rest behind. "Gentlemen, it would be best if we didn't have to come back. I trust your discretion outweighs your sense of duty."
Social: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (11) + 4 = 15 Your choice if it's diplo, bluff, or intimidate.

As the men drink in the cart, Forvian says, "Thanks for the rescue guys. It I were you, I'd take advantage of those bastards sleeping and rob them blind... I think the dwarf was skimming from Thrune's operations here... he kept counting his money in the office."
Andracar
Andracar gets to the cart. "I'm not going back, these legs don't carry me near fast enough. Merisiel or one of you tallfolk, leg it."
Kavor Doan
Kavor Doan will attempt to activate his wand of Cure Light Wounds.
Using the Showmanship boon from Exchange faction card with four goals checked; 1/adventure use any Craft or Profession skill in place of Disable Device, Knowledge (Engineering), or UMD.

"I can go back in there and take a look."
Kranzer Kraken-Mouth
"Can't leave coin behind!"
Kranzer rushes back in and takes a look in the office for any traps or dangers first, then a safe or somewhere to hide coin.
Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (7) + 7 = 14
Merisiel Silthanon
I'll help you Kranzer and Kavor. Thanks for the tip.. Forvian I assume? Merisiel says. "We are the silver ravens. We can fill you in on our trip to a safe place."
She climbs out with the others and will move to head back in. First order will be to make sure the sleepers have no weapons available for when they do wake up.

@TeamGold --> VIRTUAL IN-MODULE LOOT (not to be confused with actual chronicle-sheet-granted loot)
-lockbox in the front office: contains red bearded dwarf's profits thus far from selling salt on the black market: 67 gp and 423 sp.
- BLUE: potion cure moderate wounds x2, mwk chainmail, heavy steel shield, composite longbow (+2 Str) with 18 arrows, mwk heavy mace, 28 gp
- GOONS: (studded leather armor, light mace, manacles, bronze Thrune pendant worth 30 gp, 4 gp) x6
What are you guys planning to do in general? what's next? I can fastrack or slowtrack RP for rescuing Forvian and your guys, if you like - I'm good either way.
Merisiel Silthanon
1 person marked this as a favorite.
See discussion page for proposed breakdown of the loot. Thanks for posting the list, keeps things moving along. We have the space to throw all that in the back of the cart.
Merisiel will send out a Silver Raven message to Laria once they are safely away from the saltworks. "The rescue succeeded, we are planning to return to you with them." She will wait for the raven to return, and listen for any message that comes back with it.
"I think we can bring them back to base so we can talk things out with Forvian and his team" Merisiel says to the group meanwhile. "What a rush! I feel like we did something good today!"
I am ok if you want to fast-track to the next event. If that means we are back at the coffeehouse or wherever I would recommend you let us know the next scene location and we can pick up any RP from there. Really it would be the next location where there is NPC dialogue or an event that we need to respond to.
GM PDK
Ok Merisiel - I will move things along in time, and reveal the next event. Always remember that you are also free to investigate leads you have uncovered in the past. For now, I will assume you return to Coffeehouse, rehabilitate/heal/care for the rescued men, and start next week's Rebellion Sheet actions. My next post will be tonight after 9:00 PM (Eastern Time); PS: from now on expect my posts to come up in the evening. I will check during daytime from time to time but assume the majority of my long posts will be done in the evening.
The Silver Raven returns with a small note attached to its leg, and deftly lands right on Merisiel's lap, awaiting the note to be taken off. Merisiel takes the note, and the silver seagull returns to its miniature figurine form. The note reads, "Understood. Thanks for saving these fine ladies from Janneece's boring book club. I will prepare some hors d'oeuvres for their arrival. I'm sure our Sisters will love the company! Well done friends! These fine ladies will be a great addition to OUR book club membership! To be in full compliance of curfew laws, praise be our Mayor and Savior, and due to the advanced age of some of the fine ladies, I shall set aside and prepare a few guest rooms for them, in case return travel would take them past our glorious Mayor's curfew time. May his soul be forever and ever cherished and fully appreciated by The Dark Prince."
Kavor Doan
Kavor Doan appreciates the discretion in the message. "Ah, a good reminder. Messages can be intercepted."
He is quiet on the journey, only opening up to the rescued mercenaries once safely inside the Coffeehouse.
"We're doing what good we can here without drawing too much attention. But we need to find out what happened to the previous Lord-Mayor, Jilia Bainilus. She is either captive or in hiding. If you have any contacts that can help us, I think that an important task to focus on."
I am assuming these mercenaries form another team of ours?
GM PDK
"I've heard no scuttlebutt on our true Mayor's whereabouts, alas. Have you investigated all the leads we've discussed thus far?" says Laria, before busily returning to the tables, coffee jug in hand.
Kavor Doan

A couple of days later, Kavor Doan comes in, sweating and breathing hard. "That was a close one! But our new recruits helped save our eyes and ears on the ground. They street performers will need some rest, and some bribes to make a few problems go away, but we'll be okay."
He turns to the party. "The Night of Ashes. Let's follow up on that. The Silver Star musical store (itself a cover for the church of Sarenrae), the Thrashing Badger (a tavern known to cater to rebels and their ilk), and the Victocora estate. Burned to the ground. I assume all the buildings are in ruins, but there could be something left behind that we would do well to find. Or, we could try to investigate Hocum’s Fantasmagorium and the Opera House, which were also taken over that night. The Opera House I get - it was a base for the Silver Ravens. But the Fantasmagorium? A long-closed museum? What's in there? Anyway, I am happy to investigate any of those sites."
GM PDK
To speed things up - if you go during the day there's no trouble.
You find nothing at Rexus' burnt down house, and nothing at the Thrashing Badger either. However the Silver Star's fire has destroyed load bearing beams which resulted in the whole burnt establishment to collapse into the underground basement.
You realize that it sits right in between Castle Kintargo and the Temple of Asmodeus... so the retribution on this shop must have been swift.
The site is now a sinkhole filled with scorched rubble—the building collapsed into the chambers below when it burned. Investigating the site can be tricky, as loose beams and debris can shift.
Perception and Knowledge Engineering check please
Merisiel Silthanon
Merisiel pokes around within the Silver Star's ruined establishment, carefully avoiding spots that look unsafe. She kicks ashes from her new boots, cloak sweeping through soot. Nearby, horse and cart are carefully hitched out of the way of foot traffic in the shade of the temple.

Kavor Reflex DC 15 for half damage: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (10) + 4 = 14 FAIL for 3d6 ⇒ (2, 3, 5) = 10 dmg from the collapsing rubble.
While pulling Kavor out of the wreckage, Merisiel notices a glint of metal! investigating, she pulls out an iron coffer containing a small cache of potions and scrolls that survived the fire. The scrolls in the coffer are a scroll of cure moderate wounds, a scroll of daylight, a scroll of remove blindness/deafness, and a scroll of remove disease. The potions include three potions of lesser restoration and four potions of cure light wounds.
You climb out of the crater unnoticed... what do you do?
Kavor Doan
"Anybody see any sign of bones? If there were good folk here who perished, we should try to get them a proper burial. Other than that, I think we've found enough here and should move on - would be dangerous to keep poking around the rubble."
Merisiel Silthanon
"What tunnels are you thinking of checking out Kavor?" Merisiel replies. She readies to head back to the horse. "You aren't too hurt are you?"
She loads the iron case into the back where the others presumably sit waiting. She knocks on the solid wood and watches the street while Kavor gathers himself.
"We can send a raven over to our host to ask if she has any news. Discretely, this time" she says, grinning.
