hit points gained: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4 well joy
1 additional spell slot for lvl 1; total 3 (able to prepare 5 spells for use + domain)
New Abilities
Channel Divinity (1/rest)
[i]At 2nd level, you gain the ability to channel divine
energy directly from your deity, using that energy to fuel
magical effects. You start with two such effects: Turn
Undead and Perserve Life
Channel Divinity: Turn Undead (DC13)
As an action, you present your holy symbol and speak a
prayer censuring the undead. Each undead that can see
or hear you within 30 feet of you must make a Wisdom
saving throw. If the creature fails its saving throw, it is
turned for 1 minute or until it takes any damage.
A turned creature must spend its turns trying to move
as far away from you as it can, and it can’t willingly
move to a space within 30 feet of you. It also can’t take
reactions. For its action, it can use only the Dash action
or try to escape from an effect that prevents it from
moving. If there’s nowhere to move, the creature can use
the Dodge action.
Channel Divinity: Preserve Life (10hp)
[i]Starting at 2nd level, you can use your Channel Divinity
to heal the badly injured.
As an action, you present your holy symbol and
evoke healing energy that can restore a number of hit
points equal to five times your cleric level. Choose any
creatures within 30 feet of you, and divide those hit
points among them. This feature can restore a creature
to no more than half of its hit point maximum. You can’t
use this feature on an undead or a construct.

1d10 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 2 = 11
I'll take Duellist Style for +2 damage -I'll update my character later
Andrei Brightblade |
I'll rest using my 2nd HD to heal.
1d10 ⇒ 7
That brings me up to full. I have 5hps of Lay on hands for those who may need it.
GM Niles |
Honestly, not much changes. There is no increase in BAB, Saves or skills. Its just HP and abilities most of the time...
In fact during this entire module (which runs levels 1-5) you will only increase your proficiency bonus (attacks/saves) once at level 5.
At level 4 you get either a +2 to one ability score OR a feat.
Duncan Esteros |
I could use a bit of healing Andrei, if no one else is in need. It will bring me closer to full, and I think we are returning to the town now, so I hope we can rest once there as well!
GM Niles |
I'll be in meetings tomorrow most of the workday. Don't expect much from me until after 2PM CST.
Also, Bec needs to level up.
GM Niles |
Bec, its been 10 days and you still haven't leveled up. I need you to do that, and I need you to post in gameplay once per 24 hour period.
GM Niles |
I have drill this weekend so probably not much from me until Sat afternoon when I make it to my hotel.

In meetings all day today, I'll try to move us forward sometime this afternoon

Niles forgot to add in Dwarven Toughness bonus of +1 so hp should be 17. Not 16 as listed.
Morgran Frostbeard |
Stonecunning. Whenever you make an Intelligence (History) check related to the origin of stonework, you are considered proficient in the History skill and add double your proficiency bonus to the check, instead of your normal proficiency bonus.
ok, clarification please, if I am considered proficient I would now get a +4 to those checks even though my intelligence bonus to checks currently is now a 0.

will be on business travel for the next 24-48 hours.
Bot me as needed and don't forget to give me an extra D4 to hit. If the hobgoblin comes I'll use my advantage to attack him.

Do you have any uses left?
Morgran Frostbeard |
nope, used that after fight with the king....only once per rest....
Channel Divinity:Preserve Life - 10hp.
Duncan - 3hp
Lyle - 3hp
Andrei -3hp
Morgran -1hpTo the group as they begin to stir,
good thing is as level 3 that's now 15hp to split up :-)
@Bec, feel your pain have spent the last 2 nights arguing with my laptop, luckily didn't have to completely reload it.
Level 3 updates:
after last level rolling a '1' I'll take the '5' so 5+3+1=9hp or 24hp total
+1 1st level spell slots = 4 total
+2 2nd level spell slots = 2 total - some 1st level spells may be cast as 2nd level for bonus
able to prepare 6 spells per day not counting domain spells
Life Domain increases"
additional domain spells: lesser restoration, spiritual weapon
Preserve Life increases from 10hp per use to 15hp per use.
@Niles as I understand it I can't change my spell list until I take advantage of a long rest, so will the additional spell slots and domain spells be available until that same long rest, or after the short rest
Also thought I could recover some spells after a short rest but can't seem to find that information this morning."
GM Niles |
Short rest will let you use your new class abilities, long rest will let you change your spell list.
But its all a moot point since the Grick was the last enemy in the castle.
Morgran Frostbeard |
Oh, well that being the case... :-)
Will update my stat sheet this evening when I get home.
Thanks for the info though.
Will be picking up healing prayer for a 2nd level spell any other suggestions?
Andrei Brightblade |
I am thimking of going heavy armour mastery for the DR3/- it gives. I cn use my high hps and reduced damage to have the monsters wail on me first and allow Bec to pound on them as the hammer to my anvil when we get to 4th lvl
GM Niles |
You guys were supposed to be level 3 BEFORE the Keep...at least that is what the module assumes.
Andrei Brightblade |
After we loot this place I'll go and see if I can tally up all the gold we found and divvy it out. Depending on what this place yields we may have about 60-70 gp each.

Total 308gp before sale of found weapons - not bad. Enjoying this game!
Gundred still owes us 10gp each

Find Gundred - done
Get his map - done
Return Blue lion goods - done
Orcs at Wyvern Tor - TBD (http://paizo.com/campaigns/GMNiles5EExperiment/gameplay&page=7#350)

Andrei Brightblade |
http://paizo.com/campaigns/GMNiles5EExperiment/gameplay&page=14#655 - 120gp. Potion of healing, scroll of silence, scroll of revifivy.
Total gp before Gundred? 428gp - without the weapons sales.
85gp each with 3gp left in the kitty for drinks. Mark it down.
We now have 5 potions of cure wounds. I suggest everyone take one. As I already have one and can lay on hands I suggest Bec take the one that would have gone to me in this round, giving him 2 potions.
Our cleric can take both scrolls.
Andrei Brightblade |
The morning stars and Longswords both are worth 15gp apiece. We'll keep the quarterstaff and give the Javelins to Bec?
Whats the resale on weapons? Half book value? There are 5 Longswords and 3 Morningstars so at half? Thats 60gp.
The funny thing is, I am loving the wealth mechanics so far. Its not enough to throw the game out of whack but I get the feeling that as individuals we are considered (now at any rate) to be quite well off. Assuming we were not in hicksville I would be moving towards a purchase of splint mail but as it is thats likely unobtainable.
GM Niles |
5E is a much much much lower wealth game...none of the game's math assumes ANY magic items. It's probably my favorite thing about the new edition vs. 3.5/PF
I think that Phandalin would have anything in the PHB for sale...
GM Niles |
As a general rule, undamaged weapons, armor, and other equipment fetch half their cost when sold in a market. Weapons and armor used by monsters are rarely in good enough condition to sell.
So, with that being said, the only weapons that can be sold are the ones found on the wall.
