It's cool. I think I'm not going to have be as much of a trickster.
I do want to be the knowledge monkey though, so I may still do the bardracle since skill points to invest in those and knowledge as a class skill.
Edit: Would you believe that Color spray isn't on the bard spell list? Sadly it's not on the oracle list either.

edit: ninja'd
@LL- sounds like you're clear to be tricksy. also, I'm fairly knowledgeable about gestalt combos if you want to bounce any ideas around.
@Adam- heavens oracles get it from their mystery (unless you take an archetype that trades that away). If you're just going after knowledges I'm not sure switching to bard is worth it... oracles already have 4+ skill points per level, so you're giving up an awful lot to just get 2 more... if you're looking to make them all class skills, the prophet archetype does that and fits nicely with where you seem to be headed with you character (and it doesn't lose color spray).
AdamWarnock
Well, it seems like I've got my build now. Thanks for helping me out with that. I didn't know about the Prophet archetype. Also, forgot about the mystery spells, so I can just get extra revelation and get both Divining Dance and Awesome Display at 1st. :D
So, before I dive into story, what do you guys have in mind?
nate lange RPG Superstar 2012 Top 32
I don't want to speak for LL but we were PMing a bit and I think she's leaning towards a ranger/warpriest... so she'd have 2ndary divine casting, probably scouting/exploration skills, and pretty solid combat ability.
To round things out, I'm thinking I'll take a 2ndary arcane caster and also pair it with something with some combat ability... I'm guessing that with investing heavily in knowledges you're probably not taking the face skills (Adam)? I'm kind of waffling between bard and magus but if I take the latter I'll a spend a trait (or traits) to make some face skills Int based.
There's a bunch of fighting stuff that is specific to Desna or at least connected... most of this probably won't mean anything to Adam but for LL and my reference:
- the divine fighting technique feat has a style for Desna (titled "Way of the Shooting Star" on that page).
- ranger's have a combat style they can pick called "faithful (Desna)"
- the "startoss" style feats aren't specific to Desna, but they have potential with a starknife
- the starry grace feat isn't specific to Desna, but really its specific to Desna...
- the guided star feat is specific to Desna (and builds off starry grace)
edit: actually, Adam, with a medium BAB and (presumably) a super high Cha, it might be worthwhile for you to think about taking divine fighting technique at 3rd... it lets you use your Cha for attack and damage rolls with a starknife (in case you ever need to fight)
Lady Ladile
Yep, unless something else really awesome catches my fancy in the 11th hour or something, I think I'll go ranger/warpriest. No idea yet on personality or anything like that but at least now I've got a good starting point. Thanks for the help, Nate (and apologies if the idea-bouncing kept you up a bit late)!
AdamWarnock
Cool. I think I will do that. I need to see if there's a way to wrangle proficiency with a starknife, but yeah, I like that a lot as an option for if I'm running low on spells.
Not planning on it at first, no. As I level and get more of the knowledges filled out, I'll probably invest some into them. since Cha is going to be sky-high for me anyways, why not be the face. I'm going to be squeezing every skill point I can out of the build, so Int is also going to be fairly high. Throw in Faithful Artist and make her an Azata-blooded aasimar, and her perform skills are going to be bananas. +6 untrained with a +4 in Cha and +11 in Perform(Dance) for Divining Dance with a rank and the bonus from Faithful Artist. It's almost a shame I'm not going with Bard, She could really take advantage of Versatile Performance.
So, are we going with a 20-pt buy, or are we going to go with 25-pt? I think I'll start finalizing my character's build when I get home tonight. Not going to be using HeroLab for once. I don't have the package with the Prophet archetype, and I don't want to open up that drain on my pocketbook right now.
So, here's what I have so far:
- Heavens Oracle(Prophet)/Dreamspun Sorcerer
- Race: Aasimar(Azata-blooded)
- Feats: 1st - Extra Revelation?, 3rd - Divine Fighting Style (Desna)
- Traits: Faithful Artist, Touched by Divinity
- Mythic Path: Dual Path(Hierophant/Archmage)
- Stats: STR 8, DEX 16 (+2 Racial), CON 10, INT 14, WIS 12, CHA 18 (+2 Racial)
As far as character background and personality go, I've got a fairly firm idea, but the background is going to be influenced by what y'all cook up. I think I'm going to go with Astra Vale as her name.
Background
Astra Vale was born the daughter of Galen Vale, a prominent priest of the Desna in Kenabres. There were big obvious signs that she was special and connected to Desna in a big way. When she was just a girl, she started having prophetic dreams and everyone thought it'd be best to keep a close eye on her. Some baddies managed to nab her despite the precautions, but after a few days, she was rescued. From then on she was always with a guard that steadily got beefed up as more attempts were made to get at her.
Naturally, she chafed under the restrictions, and would often try to sneak away. After a while, it became like a game, which helped lift her spirits and exasperated the other clergy. Still there were some that were there to be friends with her as well as protect her. All in all, it was not a bad childhood, though she was sheltered throughout it. Lately she's been having nightmares filled with scenes of death, destruction, and desecration. Some think she is going mad while others say that the stress she's under is proving too much. After all, with the Wardstones in place, how can the demonic horde cause so much mayhem.
Personality
Ever bubbly and optimistic, Astra is one of those rare souls that takes things as they come in stride, no matter how jarring they are. Her whimsical attitude and somewhat childish behavior lead many to underestimate the sharp mind she has. A sheltered childhood and a pull she can't explain have lead her to want to take a more active role in the crusades, something which all of the high clergy in Kenabres vehemently disagree with.
I think that's good enough for the moment. She'll be getting fleshed out as we play, so I don't want to get too detailed with her personality since that's going to develop more as we play.
So, how do you want to be in this?
nate lange RPG Superstar 2012 Top 32
With only 3 of us, and (most of us) needing the stats to pull off two different classes, I kind of feel like maybe we should go with a 25 point buy? I’ll go with the consensus if you guys prefer 20, that’s just my 2cp. Also, if at any point I’m giving too much advice please feel free to say so- I love making characters, and talking to people about making characters, and obsessing a little bit about how to tweak characters...
speaking of which...
@Adam- prophet makes perform a class skill, so faithful artist only gives you a +1 to dance and no other benefit... you’d have to take the scion of humanity variant but you could switch faithful artist for the Varisian Tattoo trait and that would give you +1 to saves vs charm/compulsion and starknife proficiency. Also, I know that +2 to perform from musetouched is nice but if you’re going for knowledges you might want to consider peri-blooded... the +2 Int might be better in the long run?
AdamWarnock
I'm all for a 25-pt buy.
And no worries. As much as I know about Pathfinder, I wouldn't say I have system mastery. I also tend to focus more on the character than the mechanics which sometimes results in less than optimal choices. I like playing characters that are fun and interesting to play and interact with (at least I hope Joanna and Tera are fun for you guys to interact with.) I find it more fun to build a character to fit thematically than to build one that can murder a CR10 encounter at level 2.
So, speaking of thematic appropriateness, musetouched seemed to fit the concept I had better, so that's what I went with. Emberkin seem more thematically tied to Sarenrae, so I honestly didn't give them much thought. I think I will take the Scion of Humanity though because the +1 isn't really worth spending a trait on, at least not compared to getting proficiency with a starknife. I hadn't realized that Prophet also made Perform a class skill.
Any thoughts on the background stuff? I tried to keep it vague enough that there's room for y'all to insert yourselves how you wish.
AdamWarnock
Forgot to ask, but do we have a link the Gestalt rules we're using? I know that there's the Unearthed Arcana rules that I am pretty sure are here, but I don't know if there's another ruleset out there that you'd rather use.
Lady Ladile
I want to think that I've seen one linked somewhere on the forums in the past but I can't seem to find it. Also, not ignoring your questions Adam - work has been keeping me busy the past couple of days and when I get home at night it's all I can do to get posts out for all of my current games before getting some sleep. I've got Saturday through Monday off though and aside from a few short-term commitments on Saturday and Sunday I should hopefully have plenty of time to give your questions and proposed background some thought - and do a little work on my own character :)
AdamWarnock
Cool, and I understand about getting home and not really being able to do more than post in your games. I try to be patient, but I tend to get antsy when I get excited about something.
On a somewhat unrelated note, I realized that if Tera and Joanna ever met, it'd be chaos. The two of them are fairly silly on their own, Tera more so than Joanna, but they'd probably feed off each other.
Lady Ladile
Oh, I definitely understand. I'm excited too, even if it might be hard to tell via text :)
And it's funny...I've actually got a warpriest of Desna in a Carrion Crown game that, as a minor (for that game) part of her background, used to be Briana's bestie. And she's similar to Jo in that she can be rather reckless and headstrong, too! Maybe that's part of why Briana seems to be the closest to Jo out of all the other women in the party? Jo may remind her of Hazel on some level.
There are some other amusing parallels to Shattered Star to be found across some of my other games. In my Mummy's Mask game my healer witch is being crushed on/kinda-sorta-courted by the party's scholarly wizard...which makes me smile for obvious reasons, though those two characters have their definite personality differences from Briana and Teldon so it's not like the same relationship all over again.
Er...sorry to wander way off-topic but I definitely agree that putting Tera and Joanna together would be the height of entertainment :3
(Also why am I still up? Go to bed, me!)
nate lange RPG Superstar 2012 Top 32
Yeah- I'm excited too, and working on things... I kind of purposefully picked my role(s) last so I could try to shore up any weaknesses we have as a party (because I like the mechanics stuff as well as the story stuff), but I think that does make it just a little bit harder to get a complete package where you really like the build and the fluff. It doesn't necessarily help that I try to develop the two side by side either... so for each idea I come up with I'm trying to look at how much I like the build, how much I like the fluff, and how smoothly those two lock together... it makes it kind of a slow process.
I should have some free time today, though, so I'll try to post some thoughts/ideas tonight.
AdamWarnock
One thing I have stated is I like world building for characters. My characters also tend to grow as I play them, but I like having something solid to build off of. When we started the Shattered Star game, Joanna's stepmother was just some vague antagonist that I wanted her to face down at some point. Everything beyond the basics in Joanna's background came as we started playing. Joanna's self-doubt and look w self esteem became products of an abusive relationship with her stepmother. To be honest it wasn't until the scene in the room that had the suggestion effect that I had how bad it was nailed down.
And since I'm blabbing away about her, I've got something cool planned for when she levels. I hope that I've got the writing chops to pull it off. :)
Oh, and if you're interested, there's some interesting analysis of what kind of a player I am by the GM of the GURPS game I'm playing in. You can find it here.
nate lange RPG Superstar 2012 Top 32
Alright- I'm not fully decided on anything yet but I have an idea developing... I'm thinking about combining Order of the Star cavalier (probably with some kind of archetype) and bard. There's a bard archetype called Impervious Messenger (which stacks with faith singer) and part of their deal is that they can memorize information so that it can be preserved and transmitted safely (and secretly). He would have been assigned to Astra to protect (and keep an eye) on her, but also to secretly preserve her oracles for whichever church leader assigned him. Thoughts?
Also... any ideas about how we want to handle prestige classes? Outlaw them; free reign; one side only? If I do go with a bard the spheresinger PrC looks like it has potential (it’s a specifically Desnan bard basically). And, if I go cavalier I’d probably stick with that, but if went with a fighter or something I might look at the sentinel PrC...
@Adam- I’m planning on trading out bardic knowledge, so we won’t have two know it alls ;)
nate lange RPG Superstar 2012 Top 32
Sorry for the double post. I just wanted to add that it occurred to me that I’ve actually never played an archer PC in Pathfinder (some NPCs, mostly short-lived, but never a PC)... I’ve been looking at that too... I’ve come up with a couple ideas that I think are pretty cool mechanically, but I’m having some trouble coming up with fluff that I’m excited about, and that really ties him to the theme [ooc]and it would be extra important for his fluff to really tie him to the theme because none of the classes I’ve been looking at have really any divine archetypes [ooc]
nate lange RPG Superstar 2012 Top 32
The bard guy would be a Desnan, yeah. And appointed by actual Desnans. You had mentioned in your thoughts on your background that you were kidnapped once because there are some people who hope to exploit your gift... if we wrote down whatever oracles came to you those writings would be a target (and if anyone got them there could be things in them they could exploit), so I quietly memorize things and periodically recite them back to my ‘handler’ for the church to record and do withnas they see fit. If I do go with that guy.
AdamWarnock
Not writing down her prophetic musings makes a lot of sense. I like the bard idea.
I would like to note that many Ulfen and Kellids worships Desna, and a good chunk of them are barbarians and rangers. I've played more than a few fighters that were followers as well. Actually, I think over half my characters have been Desnans.
Lady Ladile
^Yes, I'd read that too. It's funny, I've kinda sorta got two different character ideas. Both would use the same chassis (ranger/warpriest) and both would basically be acting as guard for Astra, along with Nate's character. They diverge from there; one option would be for a ranger/warpriest of Desna that is likely either a childhood friend of Astra's or maybe a relative like a cousin. This version would most likely be a human (maaaaybe a half-elf) if I went with the blood ties thing but if she's just a friend then that opens the race options a little more - she could be human, half-elf, or maybe even a halfling. If I went with this option I could also explore the Ulfen/Kellid thing and maybe do a small nod to the Sarkoris thing, too.
The second option would be a dwarven ranger/warpriest of Torag; maybe Galen's got some friends among Torag's faithful and called in a favor to have them assign one of their people to help keep his daughter safe. This could be interesting because of the likely age/personality clashes and also because I've never actually tried playing a dwarf before. Thoughts?
AdamWarnock
1 person marked this as a favorite.
The dwarven ranger/warpriest of Torag sounds like fun. There's a sky citadel in the Worldwound that the dwarves are trying to reclaim with little success. I can see their desire for completing that goal conflicting with their duty in protecting Astra. Given Astra's personality, she's going to be seen as a flighty, childish nuisance by your typical Pathfinder dwarves. There's lots of story potential there and a lot of room for growth from both characters.
As an aside, since there's three of us, I thought I'd just point this out: Trio Tropes.
And speaking of Torag, I've got a character that I'd love to play, but they need to be in the right game. One that allows for lots of crafting time and has some room for them to deal with being marked by the Forge Father and what it means that he's taken such an interest.
Lady Ladile
That was kind of my line of thought too; sure, being a typical dwarf might be seen as a bit of a stereotype but those stereotypes can still be a lot of fun as long as you don't let yourself be bound too tightly to them. Of course I mean she'd still be pretty young by dwarf standards but still old enough to have seen more than Astra's seen and thus be a bit put out by her flighty charge :)
Related to the above, how long have we had our trio arrangement by the time the game starts? Is it a pretty new setup or have we spent enough time together that we more or less work together well enough but might still have some in-group bickering about how to handle certain things?
@Adam - I'm not familiar with a lot of the standard Paizo APs but a character like that sounds like they could potentially have a place in a Kingmaker game. If nothing else, there's lots of downtime for crafting and even time gaps of years between some of the books.
nate lange RPG Superstar 2012 Top 32
So, I (hopefully, obviously) think you should play the character you’re most excited about. Personally, I’m the opposite of Adam- I like the Desnan idea better. They both seem like interesting characters but I happen to prefer the idea of a party of people with different backgrounds and sometimes different aims who nevertheless find unity in singing the hymns they all know and praying together under the stars to the idea of sort of the odd-man out setup with one non-Desnan. If you prefer the Torag plan I’m totally onboard, but that’s my 2cp.
Also, I kind of have more of an idea about an archer now...he’d be a born and raised Desnan from the Kenabres area who became an archer sort of out of necessity. He also studied magic because it seemed to him connected to shaping luck/fate (which is part of Desna’s portfolio). He’d be part of the party because he witnessed one of Astra’s oracles and became sort of a disciple of hers (he’s convinced the Starsong chose her as a mouthpiece and literally follows her to hear her prophecies and protect her). Mechanically he’d be a magus with the Eldritch Archer and Hexcrafter archetypes (which I just discovered I could stack)- the hexes he’d take Would all focus on luck (like fortune and misfortune), and I’d combine that with probably some kind of slayer but I’m not completely settled on that. Any thoughts from you two on which idea you’re more drawn to right away?
Lady Ladile
Oh, of course - both ideas came to me pretty quickly but wanting to stick to the theme is why I gave a little more thought to the original Desna idea than the Torag one. I'm happy to stick with Desna (since I obviously do like the idea) and file the Torag idea, or at least the bare bones of it, away for another time :)
As far as your two character ideas, hmm...I actually kind of like your archer idea that you just proposed. The bard option is definitely interesting as well, but I think there could be a lot of RP potential by having a contrast between one character that's convinced Astra is all that and a bag of chips and another that (due to some previous familiarity) mostly agrees with the first assessment but that maybe has a little more insight into Astra the Person and not just Astra the Prophet. Does that make sense? Both our characters care about her safety and well-being but our respective reasons for it initially start off being a little different.
I realize that it may seem like I tend to not have particularly strong feelings about a lot of the particulars regarding the campaign and character-building, but I promise that isn't due to lack of interest or enthusiasm. I've always tried to be a 'go with the flow' sort of person largely because I really dislike conflict and to be truthful, there's not a great many things that I consider to be important enough to kick up a big fuss about, least of all something like Pathfinder. Just playing a game I enjoy with cool people is generally enough to make me happy and the rest is just minor details.
That being said, if there were ever something that I really wasn't interested in or not feeling, I would speak up. I say all of this because I've had situations come up in the past where people have worried that they were inadvertently pushing me around or not allowing me to voice my own opinions or do as I saw fit and so I just wanted to head anything like that off at the pass now.
AdamWarnock
@ Lady Ladile: Nate has a good point actually. The Desnan would make more sense. I just focussed on the Toragite (Toragan?) because I thought it'd make for an interesting contrast and some friction to add something to the group dynamic.
@ Nate: I'm liking the Archer, too, and I agree with Lady Ladile that it would be interesting to have two characters that had different perspectives on her. When the character that sees her in a more idealistic light, finds out she's not all they thought her to be, it could cause some interesting conflict (in the story sense, though if it's really bad, it might come to blows!) I like the bard idea, but this one has some interesting twists to it.
I tend to be the same way in regards to conflict, though I'm a "I want everyone to get along" person and that has caused me a lot of grief in the past few years with some of my family. I am a passionate man about somethings and not so much about other things. I do worry that I hog the spotlight too much sometimes. I even apologized during the game I was in today for spending the first 30 minutes of the session being the only one talking and moving things forward. It seemed like the others didn't mind but it bothered me because I felt like I was steamrolling over everyone.
To be honest there are times I feel like that in the Shattered Star game too.
(On a side note, I do have the session recorded and where you can listen to it. It's a raw recording with no editing and we had some technical issues. Just putting that out there if you want to take a listen.)
Lady Ladile
@Adam - Yep, it definitely makes more sense. I deserve to be beaten with a wet noodle for participating in all this chatter and planning and then suggesting something that doesn't fit! *hangs head in shame*
Also if either of you are feeling lazy, you can shorten Lady Ladile to Lady, Lady L, or Ladile, whichever suits you. If it's in the same ballpark I'll answer to it, same as I do with my real name which a lot of people somehow get wrong.
I think it would be different if you were insisting that everything be about your character and trying to horn in on things that primarily concern other PCs - like if, for instance, Joanna were to suddenly decide that she wants Teldon, for whatever reason. Something like that very early on might've made for some entertaining inter-party drama but at this stage it would seem strange and a bit forced unless there was a really, really good reason/catalyst for it. But I don't see you doing things like that. You post often, partly because you have the time and partly because you're clearly invested in the games you're playing in, at least the ones that I share with you. There's nothing wrong with that - if other players and the GM are clearly enthusiastic and enjoying a game then it creates a positive-feedback loop wherein people are excited to post and look forward to the next development.
Regarding Shattered Star specifically, I think it might seem/feel that way to you because of the six players, you, Nate, and myself are generally the most frequent posters and have been for some time now. Based on that alone, things tend to end up with the three of us pushing a lot of the plot and action forward. It's also easier (and quicker) to interact with each other for those same reasons. I'd love to try and have Briana do some more stuff with some of the other players, but it's tricky because I don't want to bog things down too much. And even with doing stuff in flex-time spoilers, if a scene takes long enough I sometimes start to lose the thread of it if I'm trying to respond to that and to the stuff that's actually currently happening.
(And if you're comfortable in sharing the audio of your game session, then go for it!)
AdamWarnock
@ Lady L: (Why do I now want to call you Ellie?) It's alright. Sometimes I start to suffer form the "OOOH SHINY!" syndrome too. All is forgiven. :D Besides if you really wanted to play a dwarf who worships Torag, I'm sure we could have come up with a good story as to how they wound up on guard duty guarding a silly young woman. :)
This is the raw, unedited file, which is the only file. ^^; Session really starts about 12 minutes in. One of the players was having issues. There was some audio issues on Mailanka's (the GM) end throughout. I'm the one playing Nal Aldru, so yes, that's what I sound like. :)
I really should learn to not be so paranoid about things like this. One of the other players said I was the most entertaining player in the game. I guess it's one of those things that's tied to having a low opinion of myself. I just can't help it sometimes.
Lady Ladile
Well, you had to be up early for work today right? Pretty sure you made the right decision there!
@Adam - That's why I said I'd file the character idea away for another time! When I've had characters end up not selected for a game in the past I just looked at the silver lining that I still had a (hopefully) pretty cool character concept that I could maybe pull out at a later time.
Believe me, I get it. Sometimes it's really hard to see myself as others see me and it's something that I'll probably always struggle with to one degree or another - but I'm better about being able to tell that part of my brain to shut it than I used to be.
(Also nice recording! I obviously didn't listen to the whole thing but what I did listen to was entertaining. Fair is fair, so maybe I'll try to make some sort of audio recording to share at some point - though the content would probably just consist of me rambling into my phone.)
@Nate - It's cool and while I always try to keep in mind that 99% of the time such advice is being offered in good faith, I still appreciate the qualifiers. Sometimes I get a little frustrated when I'm being backseat-gamed but that largely seems to happen to me IRL and not here on the forums. And even then it's generally been like, 95% good intentions and maybe 5% 'durr girls can't strategy' garbage.
Anyhoo, I've got to run but I'll check in later this evening with some stuff that's actually related to character building ;)
AdamWarnock
As a person who works with some very competent women, whose mother managed to raise two kids as a single parent, and who plays a lot of characters that are women and rather capable adventurers, I've got no sympathy for that 5%.
But anywho, yeah, it's always good to have a stack of ideas ready for when you need a character. Speaking of, I need to get back to mine's character sheet.
At 4 hours, I wouldn't expect anyone to listen to all that in one go. And no need to record yourself. I'm just happy you found it entertaining.
I struggle with telling that part of myself that too. It's not easy and there are times I've felt like I've not made progress at all.
But, I think that's part of living. We just learn to deal with it. :)

Do you guys know which campaign traits you’re taking? With only 3 of us we probably really shouldn’t double up on any of them... there’s like 4 of them that could fit with the background and mechanics I’ve been working on, I just need to know which ones you guys want? And, actually do we want to discuss mythic paths at all? I’m planning on taking dual path, as I believe Adam is as well... do we want to try to cover all 6 paths between us, or is that too much? Adam was looking at archmage/hierophant... if we tried to cover all 6 that would probably leave one of us (Lady) as champion with either trickster or marshal, and the other as guardian with marshal/trickster...
If we’re not worried about trying to cover all 6 I would probably do archmage for half of mine (maybe champion/archmage for an archer/caster), and purely mechanically most ranger/warpriest builds would probably be best off with hierophant and champion or guardian... but there aren’t really any bad mythic paths and if we want to hit all 6 I’m sure we can make it work well. With Lady as our primary/only melee it would probably make the most sense for her to take guardian which would leave me as champion... we both have 6+ skill points per level (most likely, I haven’t completely finalized slayer yet), so either of us could do trickster, and we both have some options that could mesh with marshal (eg I can take an archetype that gives me the cavalier tactician ability)... of course, marshal really is better the more people you have (maybe we’ll have to get Astra some summon spells). I don’t know, what do you guys think?
Lol- or we could go the total opposite direction: 3 players with dual path and still only have 3 paths (archmage/hierophant; archmage/champion; hierophant/champion)
edit: after reading over the traits again I kind of feel like Astra should really have the touched by divinity trait... she probably benefits the least from a SLA but the fluff just seems so perfect. Also, the fluff for chance encounter works really well with our theme (if we do end up with someone heading for trickster)
nate lange RPG Superstar 2012 Top 32
Sorry if that bit about the trait came across as pushy, Adam, I just got really excited when I saw how much it lined up with the background stuff you had talked about.
@Lady- do you have any thoughts on paths? Did you have a path or paths in mind? Do you have any interest in/concern about trying to cover all of them?
Lady Ladile
Okay wow, lots to take in. Let me see...
(1) Dual Path for Me = Very yes. Like, why wouldn't anyone take Dual Path right away unless their GM outright bans it? Mixing and matching options seems very appropriate for a mythic character.
(2) As far as whether we should try to cover all 6 of the paths between the three of us or not, I'm not especially worried about it - I think we'll be fine even if we end up doubling up on one or two things. But I can also see how it would be fun for the sake of completion, so I can go either way.
(3) From looking over the paths, it does seem like from a fluff standpoint that Guardian with Dual Path of Hierophant would probably make the most sense for my character. So, I'd be taking the Exposed to Awfulness trait in that case. On the other hand, the Champion path looks like it offers more offensive powers so either one would work well. I suppose it depends on what we think would be the most useful.
Some other random stuff since I never got around to it yesterday is that I decided to go for a blood relative route re: my character's connection to Astra, so congrats - you've got a cousin! We're already in two games together where our totally unrelated characters have developed something of a sibling bond so I figured why not tackle this one from a slightly different angle? :P
I did a little poking around on the forums regarding build and such and it seems like going TWF would be the most effective option as far as fighting style goes - one of the relevant posts I found on the subject was actually one Nate made in a gestalt thread like two years ago, lol. So, that'll probably be a thing though of course she should have enough feats and the like to be able to use a bow decently as backup as well.
None of the warpriest archetypes that I saw really spoke to me right off the bat but I'll probably take the Divine Tracker ranger archetype since it's fitting and also trades out the nature bond for more warpriest blessing goodness. Combined with my actual warpriest half, I'll have blessings for days!

Nah it's cool. It was the only trait that made sense besides Chance Encounter, but Astra isn't taking the Trickster path, so there's no reason to take that trait.
Besides I get excited too. I know what it's like to go "Oh man! This is so cool!!" I don't think you came off pushy, though in hindsight my reply was too brusque. Like I said, it's cool. :)

Got ninja'd by Lady Ladile. :P
Re: Familial relations
If we're going that route, I've been wanting to play a set of twins almost since I've started playing Pathfinder. Do you think we could work that out? Musetouched might not be the best for a melee build though, so it might not work out without some changes on my end.

Hmm, what about names? I picked Astra because it means star and it fits given the whole Desnan theme we've got going. Do you have any ideas on names that fit for Lady L's character? I was thinking maybe Aria. It fits with the meaning and the sounds it has. I'm open to suggestions though. If you've already got a name, then we can just say nevermind to that and forget I wrote this. ^^;
Also, what about appearance? Are we going for full identical or just mostly? I was thinking that it'd be cool to have black hair that twinkles and shimmers as if it were the night sky. I don't really have any strong feelings on anything else, though I will note that Musetouched are supposed to be considered among the most beautiful by human standards as seen here. If you want to go a totally different direction, then hey, why not. :)
And the last question, do we want to be tall, average, or short?

@Nate - A world of pain and aggravation? :)
As far as names go, I'd originally thought about Luna since I think it also fits the Desnan theme (the night sky, not just the stars) but Aria also works. Any preferences?
I was actually going to ask you about the appearance thing too, since we could either be true identical twins or fraternal twins (who also usually look pretty similar but not completely identical). A thing I sometimes do when the Paizo avatar I select still isn't quite what I envision the character to look like is go poking around on Pinterest and DeviantArt for alternate character art. Before we'd come up with the twin thing I was kinda leaning towards something like this except obviously without the pointy elf ears and maybe slightly more practical armor (though what's depicted in the art isn't bad at all, looks like she's got chainmail or something on under that shirt).
Height...I don't really have a preference, so I'll leave that one up to you :)

I like Luna, and it does fit better than Aria, so let's go with that. If you're cool with it, let's go for identical twins. I can think of some funny ways to use that.
Btw, Nice picture, though the part of me that's constantly looking at things through a lens of realism is going "Ow! Those rings must pinch without any padding between them and skin!" You're right though, that's far from the worse I've seen.
1-Tall, 2-average, 3-short: 1d3 ⇒ 2
Okay, so we're about average, maybe a little short of average, Average for a human woman in pathfinder is 5 feet 6 inches. That seems a little tall to me. A quick Google search says that a human woman is 5 feet 2 inches in height.
You know, there's already a way to do this. Why not use that?
Height: 53 + 2d10 ⇒ 53 + (1, 7) = 61 inches, which is 5' 1"
Why do I have the feeling our nickname is the Imps? :P
Okay, so short, probably slender given our heritage. Black hair that twinkles with starlight and porcelain skin that glows with moonlight. Eyes that look like sapphires filled with stars and an otherworldly grace, like the auroras come to earth to dance.
Er, sorry. Forgive the purple prose. I know finding an image to fit that description is going to be hard. Any thoughts on it?
