Professor Henry Lainor |

Sounds good to me.
Is there anything I need to roll to find someone to share a few formulae with me, or should I just start rolling Spellcraft?

Ila Indigo |

Itinerary for Ila:
Put out word that she'd like to meet with the judge: She's not going to just show up at her doorstep. ROOD!
Head to the college, and find a friendly person to help her in her search. Diplomacy: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (17) + 12 = 29 Her main interests include Powerful Werewolves, Local Vampire legends, Seasage Effigy, and Raven's Head, in that order. If there are any missing books, she'll try to find out how long, and if they're well-overdue offer aid in recovering them.
I figure that's most of the first day.
Tomorrow morning, she'll pack up the breakfast she gets at the inn and take it to share with the woman who looks like she hasn't been eating right at the church, and just be friendly, asking about local customs that she's observed as being unusual compared to back home.
Itinerary after that varies quite a bit based on what she's found and done!

Tassa Bokrugscu |

Ila, I've been using the Paizo tools this is the first time extension for a long time (and love it) but hadn't ever used custom avatars.
Just took advantage of the two you linked. Thanks.
leinathan, I want to craft a mithral guantlet while we're here. Would I be able to find a small amount of mithral for sale somewhere?
NOTE TO ALL, if you would like armor crafted, Tassa crafts to calm herself (which she can reveal in-game soon in a post). Dunno what we'll have time for during this downtime, but she's happy to help. Her main experience has been with darkwood (such as her shield) but she's happy to work metals as well (such as the bizarre tentacle-covered adamantine guantlet on her right hand).

leinathan |

@ Henry - there are other alchemists who work at the University who are happy to share their formulae with you.
@ Ila - sounds great! Roll Knowledge (local, history, history) and Perception. The Knowledge checks get a +4 bonus due to use of a library, and you can roll them untrained if you have to. Also, post in Gameplay :)
@ Tassa - 1d100 ⇒ 44 No, there is no mithril available at the moment.

Professor Henry Lainor |

Henry will pick up: Aid, Cure Moderate Wounds, False Life, Lesser Restoration, See Invisibility, Spider Climb, and Resist Energy.

Ila Indigo |

But I'm at work and it isn't my turn! :o
I'll get you the knowledge rolls tonight. :)

Professor Henry Lainor |

Henry will try to do them in the evenings and mornings when he can and divide them up as necessary. He should be able to do 2 or 3 at a time and get them all done over the next two days. That way he has time during the day to do other things if anyone needs him. Like a student wanting to talk or someone interested in research looking for help for example.

Krishakhar the Hunter |

Ugh, having a hell of a time trying to figure out something to buy 'Khar. With what he got now he's at 1964gp, but I just can't find any items that really strike me as interesting.
Y'all have any ideas?

Ila Indigo |

A shirt that changes sizes with him?
A decent pair of pants?
Something to deal with a DR type you can't bypass?
A really nice vintage alcohol?
Climbing gear to help others?
A bag to carry all your money in for something bigger later?

Ila Indigo |

The efficient quiver is amazing if you use rods or wands or the like in addition to carrying sharp things that couldn't normally be put into a bag of holding. :)
The question is: Can you apply a rip-cord so that it pulls the item back in if you just drop it? ;)
Oh, and also! Ila should have put her armor back on on the stairs of the church. She'd not have forgotten, even though I did. :)

leinathan |

Here is Lepidstadt's city statblock. As you can see, the base value is 6,000gp, which means there is a 75% of finding an efficient quiver (or any other item that you wish to purchase under 6,000gp). Go ahead and roll when you go to make your purchases.

Ila Indigo |

I believe you can also retrain a maneuver, if you're interested in that. :)

Tassa Bokrugscu |

That was actually my L4 retraining. I'll get a new one at L5.

Urick Tirrell |

I think someone mentioned it a while back, but I'd completely forgotten. With Elephant in the Room, whould my Rapid Reload feat apply to (crossbows) in general?

Tassa Bokrugscu |

Ugggghhh. I'm quite sorry. I had a wave of busyness at work that I expected to pass...and then 'normal' never really came back. That plus a string of visitors + family commitments has had me stretched thin.
I haven't been able to post RP posts as much as I'd like recently...but hadn't realized I'd let it go so long.
Thanks for the nudge. I really am engaged in this story and in Tassa as a character...just a bit overwhelmed. :-/

Tassa Bokrugscu |

off camping for the next few days.
have fun and see you Friday or over the weekend.

leinathan |

Hey guys, I just wanna break down this quest for you so that you can make informed decisions. Also, I feel like maybe my other descriptions weren't clear?
OK, for one, you get to choose when each crime gets debated in court (assuming that you can return to Kaple within a reasonable amount of time before the trial, so that he can organize the proper procedures and let the judges know), but only one crime gets debated on each day.
It is currently 11a.m. on Day 1. The trial is at 7p.m.
Theoretically, in order to totally exonerate the Beast, you must visit each location and find evidence that proves he wasn't responsible. Then, you have to return to Lepidstadt in time to debate what you found in court.

Professor Henry Lainor |

Sorry, it completely slipped my mind to answer this.
I suggest that we have the cases discussed in the order that we're planning to investigate them. So that would be Sanctuary first, then the two villages, starting with the closer one. That way we can go out, investigate the sites, and come back with the evidence to present it in the same order we gather it. If there's one charge discussed a day, we can in theory do each investigation, present the case, sleep as little as possible and start investigating as early as possible the next day so we're back in time to present the next case.

Ila Indigo |

We were talking about this elsewhere, but I'd like a final answer on it: What are your thoughts on Phantom Steed having a 10 minute cast time? Mount, its little brother, has a one round cast time, for comparison. Should we stick with the ten minute cast time?

Ila Indigo |

Alrighty. Ila don't need no horse, then. Her goddess provides. :3

Ila Indigo |

Ha, so:
Mount provides a light horse, which is statistically superior in all ways but AC until caster level 6, and it has fewer HP even then.
Mount normally takes 1/100 the time to summon.
Mount normally lasts twice as long.
Mount doesn't say only one rider allowed.
Mount can actually carry a decent amount of stuff.
I love phantom steed thematically, but like... no effort went into a spell normally two levels higher being in any way better, until you've picked it up 'at a higher level because it's now mount, but better.' :P
I still have no regrets on the front of spell selection, though!

Tassa Bokrugscu |

Agreed. It could've used a bit more development I suspect...and I agree it's a cool spell thematically.

Ila Indigo |

As a side note: It's not steal stamina that would be employed, but Glued Boots. This means that she like... wouldn't be able to five foot step or withdraw on the horse, if it were used. Which is a fairly interesting work-around. :P
I'm alright with using my other phantom steed, but then we -must- be wary of the time we spend here; any longer than a little over two and a half hours, and we have no horse. :O

Tassa Bokrugscu |

I'm solo parent for the next couple days, and then hosting a summit for several teams from different offices at work...and then off to Alaska for two weeks!
All good stuff...but my posting will be (even more) scarce.

Professor Henry Lainor |

Hey guys.
I'm making a quick post in all of my games to tell people that I'm going on vacation early tomorrow morning and will be away for a week. I should still have internet access and will try to post in the evenings or if I have free time, but if I post more slowly than usual or seem to miss a day or something, it's just because I'm away and probably busy.

Tassa Bokrugscu |

Hi from Talkeetna, Alaska. I don't have any mobile internet here, so can only check in when I'm near wifi. Sorry to see that I'm holding up combat!
I'll post momentarily...but feel free to DMPC me after this if I'm not able to post in a timely manner. I'll be back in the lower 48 on the 16th.
---EDIT---
I guess it's time for me to read up on how crits work in this system, eh? I seem to remember them being particularly nasty...

Tassa Bokrugscu |

leinathan, I think you're applying that differently than I'd imagined it would work.
Let’s use the blow Khar just took as an example. Someone with a 2x multiplier had a confirmed crit that would have dealt 16 HP damage...if this were a universe where HP existed.
Instead, I’d assumed it would deal 16 Vigor + 2 Wound. Is that right? It looks like you kept it at 16 dam, and just dealt 2 Wound off the top, with the rest (16-2=14) going to Vigor...which also seems reasonable. If that's the case then I subtracted 2 too much from Tassa's vigor.

That's not quite true. For 'Khar, I rolled 1d6+3 for the normal damage and 1d6+3+2 for the additional crit damage. I do understand how it's meant to work. Thanks for checking on me, though!

Ila Indigo |

Is there much debris in the room that weighs five pounds or less? Asking for a friend. :)
Also, would telekinetic projectile provoke from paralyzed Ila from attacking, even after a successful concentration check? :P

Ila Indigo |

Yeah, with a move action to remove that -10. :)
I'ma throw the book at them. :)

Tassa Bokrugscu |

Ha! I like that Ila can keep attacking despite being paralyzed.

leinathan |

These effects can typically be healed with a regeneration spell. Rapid-Onset Ghoul Fever can be healed with remove disease before nightfall. If she becomes a ghoul she can be restored with raise dead.
Ila's Trauma Table:
d100 | Effect
_____________
01-15: Eye Loss. Ila takes a -4 penalty on sight-based perception checks and on ranged attacks due to the loss of depth perception and her perceptual field.
16-30: Ila's face and head are so terribly and permanently scarred that it becomes difficult to relate to her. She takes a permanent reduction of 2 Charisma.
31-45: Ila gets permanent brain damage from the claws scraping at her brain. She takes a permanent reduction of 2 Intelligence.
46-60: Ila's nose is totally wrecked. She takes a -4 penalty on Diplomacy checks, a -2 penalty on scent-based Perception checks and gains a +2 bonus to Intimidate checks.
61-75: One or both of Ila's ears are permanently damaged. She takes a -4 penalty on hearing-based Perception checks.
76-80: Both Eyes Lost. Ila is permanently blinded.
81-85: Ila's face is scarred and she suffers from brain damage. She takes a penalty of 2 to her Intelligence and Charisma.
86-90: Ghoul Fever. Ila gets a rare strain of ghoul fever that cannot be cured with remove disease and cannot be cured via saves.
90-95: Ila's mouth and tongue are permanently damaged from deep claw and bite wounds. Her speech always comes out garbled, and she takes a -4 penalty to Charisma-based rolls using speech. She suffers a 20% arcane spell failure chance when casting spells with verbal components.
96-99: Rapid-Onset Ghoul Fever. Ila falls into a deep coma which lasts until nightfall. Over the course of the day, Ila's body shrivels and shrinks, and at midnight she awakens as a ghoul.
100: Ila's injuries are too great, and she dies.

Tassa Bokrugscu |

Gang, remember that the six ghouls within 10' of Tassa can't take 5' steps (due to her writhing tentacles making the terrain difficult for them).
That means if you take a 5' step away from them, they'll provoke when they move back toward you...and have to spend a move action to do so (preventing them from full attacking).
It also means it's worth getting into her radius...if you don't mind being near writhing otherworldly tentacles.
ALSO: Yay, Ila's not dead (yet)!

Ila Indigo |

Ila is not invisible. She's at 1 wound with no vigor and unconscious.

Tassa Bokrugscu |

Oh! In that case I'd have gone for plan A, and would have grabbed her. I'm on my phone now but should be able to post a modification to my post shortly.
Short version: Ila is outside, doc still in.

Ila Indigo |

I am utterly incapable of pushing the scene forward at this time (I can take one move action a round, and searching is a standard action). So it's up to you guys to look around and find worthwhile information. I'll be over here waiting.

Professor Henry Lainor |

Sorry. I was waiting to see if anyone had more healing or what not to contribute before doing anything. I'll have Henry start poking around and looking for signs of anything interesting.
Also, there's a few new feats in Blood of the Ancients that Henry might be interested in. They basically make mundane/skill based healing way more useful so you have options other than straight up magic healing. I'm curious how the first one would interact with the Vigor and Wounds system though. And if I could use Knowledge (Nature) in place of the Heal requirements since I use it in place of Heal.
They're Incredible Healer, Pathologist, and Acupuncture Specialist.

Tassa Bokrugscu |

Hey leinathan, after posting my taking 2 CLW, I went back and counted Vigor loss. I might well be missing something, so please keep me honest. That said:
7/1 - Tassa takes a crit, knocking her to 34/48 Vigor, 28/30 Wounds
Following that, in each of my 7/12, 7/13, and 7/17 gameplay posts, Tassa used Martial Power to get 6 THP.
I think that that means she takes:
7/13 - 12-6=6 dam (28/48 Vigor)
7/14 - 7-6=1 dam (27/48 Vigor)
7/17 - 7-6=1 dam (26/48 Vigor)...and gets paralyzed.
Am I missing something? If not, someone else can take those two CLWs and will happily stay at 26/48.
Either way, sorry for not tracking this better earlier (and thanks for tracking health on our behalf)!

Krishakhar the Hunter |

Sorry y'all, been passed out sick for the past couple days. Gettin' around to posting now.

Ila Indigo |

My vote is to try to get a cart to carry the evidence/loot/rogue back to town.
