Focused on Anara and the warriors, Tunuak does not notice 'Katiyana' slipping into the background. The old shaman blinks in urged concentration as he listens to the sorceress, The last I remember, was... Tunuak goes on to describe the ritual chanting he'd been doing (which was heard from below). It turns out, he's been conducting almost marathon sessions just about every night for the last three months. Some nights are so draining he confesses to needing to consume several cups of what he refers to as invigorating tea - an herbal remedy his master past down to him. When I was younger, it was so much easier. Thank the winds Katiyana's been here. Without her brewing the traditional tea, keeping my energy up, things may be much worse than they are now for Iqaliat. The shaman shakes his head at the absurdity of this statement. I still don't understand what's happening.
According to the old man, there are actually several chants he'd successfully conducted this night, each building upon the other. As he speaks the weight of Iqaliat's troubles seems to lift and there is a sense of energy that comes from having a good day. Tonight, I was making real progress for once! Then... the confusion returns, I'm not sure. Darkness. Being shaken, then... Tunuak looks anxiously in Draeven and Rennyn's direction then quickly at the ground.

Yes, feel free to post multiple questions.

Tunuak groans as only an old man can when getting up, Katiyana grew up here. I remember her parents well. Sadly, they were lost during a hunting expedition just over a year ago; their daughter returned alone miraculously. She confided to me that one of the spirits guided her back and instructed her to pledge herself as my apprentice. Tunuak sighs, To be honest, her connection with the spirits is weak. It'll be a long time before she's ready. But she's young and proven capable of the rudimentary spells I've shown her. The old man scratches his chin before quietly reflecting, Course her style of casting is unconventional. Chuckling Tunuak adds, But don't we all walk differently? Tunuak has probably known Katiyana from birth in a basic way, enough to vouch for her as a citizen of Iqalait. He has not really known her as a person until she pledged herself.

My view on spellcasting:
Tunuak is referring to the numerous different forms spell casters adopt when casting. Among the various classes, a shaman's incantation utilizes noticeably different forms when compared to a sorceress or a wizards gestures, even though the same spell is being cast. Wizards for example, cannot easily or comfortably manifest a spell using a sorcerers methods and gestures and vice versa. Wizards learn from other wizards, sorcerers from sorcerers and cleric through their gods. However, it doesn't stop there. Differing styles can even emerge within classes. One sorcerers source of power and their way of calling upon it isn't the same as the next sorcerer. Among wizards, each develops their own way of understanding a spell's formula and how to use it to cast a spell. These differences are revealed in spell books which must be interpreted by other wizards in order to understand the author's formula. Usually, somatic and verbal components share enough similarities, or basic foundations of arcane manipulations, so as to be identified across classes.
That's more than a copper's worth of opinion and worth less than that.

Katiyana inherited her parent's quarters, but she spends most of her time with me fulfilling her obligations throughout Iqalait.

Draeven is likely correct as there is no evidence of a teapot or drinking vessels in this area.

No. The old Shaman submissively averts his eyes when addressing Rennyn's questions, but answers promptly with confidence. Spirit works in mysterious ways. It is not the first time one of Iqalait's own has had a single transformative vision in their lifetime and little more. Katiyana's journey has begun. While she has difficulty connecting with Spirit's words, her ability to manifest is promising. By manifest he of course means casting spells. Putting some thought into the last question, Tunuak tells Rennyn Katiyana has been his apprentice for nearly nine months while Iqalait's troubles began six months ago. Looking cautiously about Tunuak says, I'm certain Katiyana was here a minute ago...

~Elf Champion (Paladin) 8~ Perc +11 (+2 to init) AC 28 HP 110 Fort +14 Ref +12 Will +13 PATHBUILDER Link

Not suspicious? Your judgement continues to impress only in its utter and complete failure. She did not merely have a "transformative vision". She survived whatever befell her parents and managed to return across what can only be described as an extremely hostile and dangerous environment. As a young girl I might add. This doesn't sound suspicious to you? Your lack of detail leads me to believe you don't even know what happened to her parents. Or you took her word for it without question.

And I assure you her ability to manifest is far more developed than you seem to know.

Oh? Three whole months after she returned? Well that clearly means she couldn't be involved in the troubles in any way...

And yet we walk into town six months after the troubles begin and you immediately attempt to blame us?

What is miraculous is that Iqualiat has managed to survive this long with you as its primary defender.

Perhaps you aren't evil afterall. Just grossly incompetent.

Sense Motive check please to discern if Tunuak is under a charm or compulsion effect.

It seemed clear to her that he had not considered what was so obvious to the Paladin. She chose this moment to start spinning her web. We saw Katiyana before heading up here, she was headed down with a clanking bundle of items when we spoke to her briefly and she begged us to help her "fallen master".

The paladin's words strike Tunuak like a slap in the face. The old man stands before Rennyn, averted eyes darting to and froe in a struggle to put unseen pieces together, I...I never. If that's...but how did I not see?
Rennyn cannot discern any form of charm or compulsion about this man. The only source of odd behavior remains his fickle mood swings which does little to explain the confusion.
If the paladin's words stung, Anara's recounting of their encounter with Katiyana is like a bucket of cold water poured over his head. Eyes wide, the old man's thoughts come to a full stop. Then a twinkle of clarity returns to the shaman's eyes and Tunuak's cheeks flush red. Sounding stern he asks, Where is Katiyana?

I know Sharadei has discreetly escorted Fenra out of sight, but there's really nothing to hide behind out here. A quick look around will spoil the ruse.

The shaman's eyes, looking much clearer than before, glance in 'Katiyana's' direction, Indeed. Looking back to Anara, I may be an old fool Anara, but I am not blind. At least, not anymore. Tunuak shakes his head, I will admit to feeling lost, my judgement clouded. Had you told me this yesterday, I fear I would not have believed you. Yet now I'm asking myself, had I truly 'fallen', why did Katiyana not lead you to my aid? Had I merely dropped off to sleep, why not simply wake me? It would certainly have been far more pleasant.

Tunuak looks up to the dark sky then to the inuksuk, Coming here to commune with the spirits has been paramount for Shaman of Iqalait for generations. What has been revealed has caused a nagging feeling to grow - this is perhaps not the first time Katiyana has left my side without my knowledge or instruction. Leaving in the middle of the ceremony is more than folly...it is a sign she never intended to complete her apprenticeship.
As to the charge of consorting with demons, Tunuak looks away from the inuksuk to hang his head dejectedly, I swear that until now, I knew not of, nor suspected her nature. To be honest, part of me still questions the validity of your charge. So I ask again, where is Katiyana?

~Elf Champion (Paladin) 8~ Perc +11 (+2 to init) AC 28 HP 110 Fort +14 Ref +12 Will +13 PATHBUILDER Link

Fenra has been "discretely escorted out of sight" because Stacy is not posting. It is not part of some grand plan. If Stacy is not continuing, then this needs to be addressed.

Vision distances have been inconsistent at best. Described as total blackout "not even starlight penetrates the layer of cloud looming over the region" one moment and then "white plain of ice and snow stretches out as far as the eye can see" the next. Not sure which it is. Fenra could be just out of light or behind the 10' tall stone...

Additionally, confusion continues to mount, for me at least. Has Tunuak now made the connection that Katiyana herself is a demon? Based on what exactly? We have not levelled the accusation directly. We have been explicitly vague on purpose to see if he would self incriminate.

Childish Quasit...Rabble-Rousing +28| Fluff +25 ....| RAW -29 | Poor form +33 Watch order: Draeven, Rennyn, Anara, Fenra, Sharadei

Anara had cast light. As far as the eye can see? Between 40 and 60ft for those with dark vision. Ok, so for now she's no where in sight.

Regardless, Tunuak did see 'Katiyana' at one point, he hasn't forgotten she's there. Rennyn also meted out punishment upon Tunuak for consorting with demons - if that's not a direct accusation...

What is being said is:
- Tunuak's 'eyes' are opening. His clouded vision of what's been going on is clearing. Something's happened to begin lifting this confusion.
- Consequently he's putting the pieces together; Katiyana's questionable actions and the consorting with demons thing. He is not certain if Katiyana was a demon. By seeing Katiyana, (not the one he noticed standing with the group earlier but the one Anara told him stayed behind on the trail) Tunuak will be able to affirm his suspicions and accept whatever role he may have played.
- Tunuak is claiming this has happened without his knowledge.

Self-incrimination? What use would incrimination serve? To kill him again? Why beat around the bush? Just show him the body/hard evidence. Unwitting pawn or active participant, his role as Iqalait's Shaman is shot. Yes, his downfall is in line with the AP.

News of Katiyana's death does not exactly surprise Tunuak, he seemed to expect this. The worried creases appearing upon his forehead (appearing as Fenra speaks) tell of Tunuak's concern for how his late apprentice attacked the group, Demons in Iqalait. This revelation is troubling, Tunuak slumps sorrowfully to the ground shaking his head. I must ask, what form Katiyana hid beneath that coif?
To speed things up I will monologue with the understanding someone in the group tells Tunuak of Katiyana's true nature.

She was fiendish then. Tunuak looks angered by this but his emotions soon return to despair. After a few moments of quiet grief he collects his voice, I know. I have no position with you. Nor will you believe what I say. But do not mistake my despair as for Katiyana. No. My pain is for my people. I have been ignorant of her nature. Iqalait has suffered by my ignorance. This is no atonement. Katiyana was my apprentice. This alone makes me culpable to what has happened. Still seated Tunuak straightens, intent upon accepting the blade which he expects to fall for his actions.

Turning to Fenra's request to know about the spirits, Tunuak's eyes take on a glimmer of reverence, Iqalait's spirits. They have watched over us for generations. My mentor, Ahnah, showed me the way to talk with them before her passing. Often, they are silent. Tunuak shrugs, They probably don't have much to say. Yet, always they warn of dangers to Iqalait. For two generations they spoke to me of bad weather or poor hunting. At the mention of bad weather, Tunuak's eyes shifted towards the stone lantern. Occasionally, an offering is made and they express contentment.

When they told me one such hunt was at risk, I went to search for the party. I found Katiyana alone three days from here. She was barely alive. I sheltered her, stayed by her side. It took a week to return to Iqalait. Along the way she told me of her parents, the peril they faced, wondering lost on the high ice and her vision there. A miracle she made it so near to Iqalait, yet my relief was, selfish. Until then, none in Iqalait have shown interest to succeed me. I'm tired. Tunuak confesses, My days as Shaman are numbered. As an aside Tunuak adds, The peril, was a Chimera. We have not found it.

Since Katiyana pledged her apprenticeship, she has stayed by my side. She watched everything, asked little. Content with her duties she progressed in her way. I was proud to be her mentor. I looked forward to each day. So eager was I for her progress, that long meetings with counsel upset me for even an hour's delay felt wrong.

Times were good! Yet the spirits were restless. They spoke of danger, but I could see none. Nothing happened for months. Hunters grumbled yet I did not worry. Hunting can be fickle. When our huntsmen began to disappear, I was alarmed. I communed for hours. I asked why? Where? For many long hours I spoke to them, often until my strength failed. The message was the same. Danger for Iqalait. I directed my strengths to warding Iqalait, but without knowing what to ward against... The old shaman eyes betray hopelessness. The tea helped, but the message became confusing. The spirits spoke only of danger here. I did not understand their meaning. Many days I would wake filled with confusion. What danger?

Our people started disappearing from their homes. But I still did not know how? From where did this danger come? Months past, exhaustion and age has caused me to also became forgetful. At that time Katiyana joined in the chants. Following my lead she told me she could hear some of what the spirits said. She helped clear some of the confusion and I could remember what to do. I was hopeful.

Then the spirits began acting like children. They would ask for offerings and be content for a time. Then they would be unsettled and more of our people would disappear! So much has been lost, so much given and I didn't know why! Shame stains Tunuak's expression, In the past, it is change which has upset the spirits. When the balance between the village and the ice shifts, troubled times always follow. I did not want you here. A large group such as yours threatens the fragile harmony I have been struggling to hold. Knowing what little I did, it was too easy to blame the new comers. Tunuak bows his head in apology, Never did I think Katiyana could be the cause.

As Rennyn deduced, the troubles started when Katiyana returned to Iqalait. Of note is the fact that since Tunuak rescued Katiyana, he has been in her presence and never once suspected her. In his eyes, Katiyana was the one person offering him, and Iqalait, hope for a skilled shaman to take his place for future generations.

There is nothing about Tunuak's tone, or the way he expressed himself, to lead Fenra to question his sincerity. Rennyn's decision to return Tunuak to the village however, visibly troubles the old shaman - there is obvious dread and shame in his demeanor.

Anara's question about the lantern provides a welcome distraction. Yet even with something to talk about, each step the shaman takes fills Tunuak with emotion.

The stone lantern is called Adlartok and has stood here for over five generations. Adlartok was the work of the Shaman who taught Yura, Ahnah's master. His name was the great Na'nook, our most revered shaman. Na'nook was very wise and his connection to spirit immense.

The story goes, long ago one of our hunters returned with a valuable prize, a great orb of pure ivory. The hunter believed the orb would bring him, and by his hand, Iqalait, great power. But when he brought the prize before the chief to challenge for the right, Na'nook, who was a still quite young, immediately recognized the hunter's foolishness. What the hunter had found was not an orb of power, but the egg of a white dragon. Knowing such a thing would bring certain destruction to Iqalait, Na'nook scolded the hunter and compelled the man to reveal where he found this 'prize'. Together they crossed the high ice, travelling many days.

There are many tales of their journey. Of all that they encountered along the way, the story which concerns Adlartok occurred when the two became lost. Briefly, somewhere near the center of the ice stand tall spires said to the home of morozkos. What Na'nook saw in these spires I cannot say, but they were the inspiration for Adlartok.

The two returned the egg to the dragon who was very angry. Na'nook begged the dragon's forgiveness and vowed to never again intrude upon her territory. In retribution she scarred the hunter then cast them out as food for morozkos. Fortunately, spirit guided Na'nook and the hunter to safety.

Upon his return, Na'nook set to work creating Adlartok. He made it tall, like the spires. He cast a light into it to guide our people home. Lastly, he empowered it to protect Iqalait from morozkos. To this day, when morozkos threatens, our shamen have chanted the sacred words before Adlartok and it has withstood morozkos wrath. A great sadness fills Tunuak at this point, I wonder, who will say the sacred words now?

As Tunuak recounts Na'nook's work, the group returns to Katiyana's fall. The blue body of the winged woman is dusted with specks of snow which glitter in Anara's light. Anger fills Tunuak's visage and were he not restrained, he would probably vet this anger upon the imposter's corpse. The bundle of ceramics she'd carried contains a cup and small pot. A portion of tea remains in the pot. No magical auras can be seen.

At some point of this investigation, Tunuak lifts his head to the sky and a new concern paints his wrinkled face, How long have the winds been moving north?

Rennyn sighs loudly. Let me guess. You and your "young apprentice", the one you have only had for less than a year, the one who wasn't "ready" or "didn't have a connection to the spirits", are the only ones who can perform the chanting to protect Iqaliat? Just the two of you? An elderly man and a child?

The paladin does not let up. Did you not have an apprentice before Katiyana? If so, where are they? If not, why not? Did it not occur to you that only having one apprentice to fulfill such a vital duty, should something befall you, might be putting the village in needless peril? Seems a little late in the game to be training up an apprentice. Your decision making continues to boggle the mind.

Is this like a Sith thing. There can only be two? Master and apprentice? :P

As I have said, none have come forward until Katiyana, (which is one reason he leapt at the chance) Tunuak adds carefully so as not to upset the paladin further, and I have looked for many years. Being shaman is a life long commitment, not something to be forced upon another. We Iqalait do our part to see to the village's needs but we also put our faith in spirit to provide when the time is right. (You mean Sithhud, right? Yeah, the AP pretty much screws Iqalait over in the "Who will replace the only Shaman?" department.)

Every child in Iqalait knows the words to call upon Adlartok . Na'nook used a children's song, there is the hint of a smile, I can teach it to you if you like. The trouble is, (*cough, Use Magical Device, cough*) a certain knack is required. Long since a child displayed such a trait.

Draeven's comment raises Tunuak's eyebrow and he regards the big man with a renewed respect, Your instincts are good! The shift in direction is one of the signs of morozkos stirring. I fear one could be upon us within the hour.

No one showing an aptitude towards horrific decision making or astoundingly poor judgement? Preposterous. A village seemingly completely reliant upon the protection of a shaman doesn't make every effort to ensure its own survival by requiring apprentices? Sounds like there should be plenty of viable candidates. Young and old alike.

Use Magic Device is a trained skill. No knack "required".

And no, I meant Sith. As in the adversaries of Jedi.

A storm is coming. Surely that isn't uncommon in this part of the world.

Anara nods in response to Draeven's interception of the staff. Probably a good call.

Listening to the Shaman answer the questions, and statements, put to him, Anara cchews on the pieces of information. So the change in the winds direction is a natural occurrence? Hearalding the oncoming morozkos? I had assumed it marked the presence of some of the beings we are finding out are among us. The sorceress quiets for the moment, thinking.

Staring at the remaining fluid in the reclaimed teapot she asks of the group Although there are no signs of magical auras, I'd like to study this further to ascertain what type of substance, specifically, was used. Might point us in a better direction.

Rennyn will have noted Iqalait is comprised largely of guides and rangers. Hearthmistress Sonavut looked to possess a talent for telling stories, qualities inherent of a bard and could probably activate Adlartok.
*GM shrugs* When Tunuak says none have come forward, it is not that Iqalait depends upon children to decide. What he means is no child, youth or adult with any magical talent has come to his attention. He's been looking, but if the barrel is empty...Besides, if there have been numerous candidates for apprentices in the past, why would Tunuak have been so willing to accept the first kid to express an interest and fallen into this pit?

No longer willing to continue what clearly is a loosing argument, Tunuak sighs in surrender. He is surprised however, and a little impressed, by Draeven's remark, You have seen a morozkos? They are far more than just a storm.

Focusing upon the tea cup and pot, Anara's spell reveals traces of poison upon the cup. In her periphery she can also see Tunuak himself as having been exposed to the same.
Anara Wisdom Check: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (18) + 1 = 19 Let me know if I've missed a modifier.

You want me to explain the inexplicable to you? The guy making this up? O_o ?!

Clerics/oracles are now a rarity? Magical aptitude is a requirement to being a cleric/oracle? Use Magic Device is also a requirement? Why?

A cleric/oracle of Sithud functioned undetected alongside an experienced cleric/oracle of Gozreh while presumably casting spells. Even most minor spells require the use of a holy symbol. That would be awkward. :P

What are the requirements for activating the Adlartok? Divine casting it would seem. Rangers are divine casters. The town can produce boat loads of rangers but curiously no other divine casters. Bard's aren't divine casters. But they can probably activate it. It's all very contradictory.

Everyone thinks their local weather phenomenon are extraordinarily unique, Draeven shrugs. You travel across the breadth of the land and everyone tells the same joke. "Don't like the weather here? Wait five minutes!" like it is somehow a unique feature of their local environment.

Now I'm not saying these, morozkos, aren't major storms, but unless you tell me something else about them, like they are full of arctic great sharks in a tornado, I'm just going to assume they are a typical arctic blizzard.

If it would be helpful, Fenra here is also a divine caster. Perhaps you could teach her the words to call upon Adlartok and protect the village. At least until things get sorted out.

On the path down...

An ingested knock out poison similar to the Blue Whinnis employed against us. Has this happened to you before Tunuak? Or was this the first time she spiked your tea?

Sorry Draeven, I couldnt tell as much as I'd like about this one. The sorceress admits dissapointedly, swirling the remains of the tea. I'm not even sure if it was a knockout type of poison or if he just got a light enough dose to survive it.

Turning to the shaman she continues. Either way, you were poisoned. Draeven's right, has this happened to you before? Or do you you remember working to a point of exhaustion where you passed out and assumed it was your fatigue?

The bug man shrugs, Knowing the exact type isn't critical. We didn't find any poison on Katiyana. She probably has more hidden wherever she prepares the tea normally.

At least we've established that Iqalait isn't in danger as far as activating Adlartok goes. Way to go Na'nook! The problem is everyone has just left the responsibility to the shaman for so long, they've forgotten what to do.
The AP is pretty vague about how Iqalait copes with or without the shaman so, I don't have all the answers. As I said, Iqalait is screwed over in this regard. :)
True, Katiyana would have trouble casting Virtue. Sonavut can make a use magical device check to activate, can't she?

Tunuak nods agreeably to Draeven's suggestion to teach Adlartok's song to Fenra. As to the big man's curiosity about the storm, the shaman adds, Morozkos are not just typical storms. Morozkos is the living scourge of the high ice! The old tales of Morozkos say it seeks out living things to satiate an ancient hunger and is powerful enough to devour an entire village! Tunuak continues to describe a storm with hurricane like winds (75-174mph) and extreme frigid temperatures (well below -30C plus windchill) lasting up to four days. (Those protected by Endure Elements won't be troubled by these temperatures. The affects of difficult terrain and poor visibility will be harder to overcome without additional magic. Wagons cannot move in a Morozkos.) No one walks with Morozkos. Erutaki stay indoors, that is the safest place to be. Morozkos comes once or twice a year, during Kuthona or Abadius. Yet what's been heard from Unaimo, Morozkos has struck early there. Very unusual. The group should recall Unaimo, the more frequented trading town to the east, has been snowed in and is impassable. No traders have come through Iqalait from there for some time.

News of having been poisoned shocks the old shaman. He has already spoken of working to near exhaustion on several occasions (admittedly more times in these last weeks with these latest long sessions having become increasingly harder) but remembers little about how long he may have been incapacitated, if at all. Up to now, he'd been sure it would only have been for a short time, less than a minute. Each time Katiyana has been there to help him down the path. The disappearances of villagers isn't tied to his being poisoned. The demonic attacks, as Tunuak now accepts demons were to blame, happened randomly one week to the next, sometimes skipping a week but always when Iqalait was asleep (save for a few guards) and never in daylight. Tunuak didn't spend every single night chanting in marathon sessions (please don't ask how often) but can recall at least one of those nights when an attack occurred, not including tonight.

Draeven holds up his hands, Whoa there boss! You've already got the job, you don't need to convince me. Tornado-blizzard-hurricane arctic storm with ancient demonic hungry village eating sharks in it. Got it.

Speaking to the group, the sorceress starts to narrow in on forming a plan. So, any idea where these deamons are actually coming from? Are we safe to assume 'Katiyana' here was there gateway and we have now closed it? Anara looks at the faces of Tuniak and her companions, My arcane studies have not included much dealings with deamons and of those, I was certainly not in combat with them. My limited knowledge is that they must be called or summoned to our plane and with 'Katiyana' no longer looking after that are we now deamon free? Pausing to think as she speaks, the twin continues, Do we just have an evil, hungry, people devouring winter storm to contend with in order to stay on our original path? An obvious smirk softens her facial features, Easy peasy.

Draeven just shrugs in response to Anara's questions. If I can't eat it, drink it, fight it or f@%k it...

We can't know for sure at this point given our limited knowledge of all parties involved. Clearly we have dealt with one threat but another looms. Could there be others? Almost certainly. I think we should return to the village and report on all that has happened this night to Chief Nalvanaq and the others. They need to be informed and warned.

He turns to address Tunuak directly. Your fate will be in their hands, not ours. If they choose not to punish you and return you to your duties then I will abide by their wishes. However, I will warn you that should it be discovered that you are in fact in league with the forces besieging Iqaliat, I shall not hesitate to permanently deal with you.

The paladin then bends down and grabs hold of Katiyana's remains, intent on taking them to the village.

Iqalait

A stony faced Chief Nalvanaq sits before the group listening to the last of the paladin's testimony. Despite the early hour, it didn't take much to persuade her guards to wake her - the fiend's corpse was enough. The old Chieftain had barely moved throughout the interview, grey eyes taking in every detail of the evening's encounters without interruption.

When at last the elf* finishes, Chief Nalvanaq remains unmoved, but her grey eyes study him like a seasoned player in a game of Towers before the final call. Then nostrils flaring the old warrior spits at Tunuak's feet. Her Erutaki response is sever but Rennyn's ears can discern, Your skin is full of holes! Your flesh diseased! Iqalait judges you unsuitable! Take your soul from here! Let morozkos scour those bones!
*Am using Rennyn to deliver the report but could be anyone.
With her pronouncement, Nalvanaq's guards confiscate Tunuak's possessions (the staff, cloak and his furs included) leaving him clothed in nothing but a loin cloth before unceremoniously dragging the old shaman from her tower. Outside, the men toss Tunuak to the cold ground and without losing stride march the feeble looking senior down, kicking Tunuak to get up. The old shaman does not waste time resisting but quickly manages to find his feet. He does not need to be shown the way but makes straight for the high ice path once more, the chieftain's guards close at his heels.

Before Tunuak and his escort reaches the stables, the once steady winds pause. In its place, a roar builds to the north and seconds later, snow and flecks of ice plunge over the ice cliff with the force of a great waterfall. The temperature plummets sharply and a deafening wind howls above Iqalait like a predatory animal. Morozkos!

Anyone following the guards outside does not notice any casting from Tunuak - the storm is not his doing. The Chieftain looks mildly pleased with herself as if her judgement were divinely supported by the timely arrival of the morozkos. The group has time (approximately 1 min or 10 rounds) to retreat to the safety of the caravan or stay sheltered in the Chieftain's tower before the full strength of the winds hit the village and reduces visibility to 5ft. (as obscuring mist), movement to 1/4 and the possibility of cold damage for those not protected.

GM Notes:

Cold: 1d6 ⇒ 1
Fort: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (19) + 9 = 28
Morozkos: 1d4 ⇒ 4

Rennyn is quite surprised by the swift condemnation of Tunuak and his subsequent immediate banishment. Given the village has no replacement for his duties, nor do they question the man to learn all they can about "Katiyana" the paladin's opinion of the chief is greatly eroded.

Perhaps other co-conspirators remain, he thinks to himself.

As the storm blows in, Rennyn steps outside, protected by his sword, and intent on returning to the caravan to ensure everyone and everything is prepared for the coming calamity.

As the guards move to confiscate Tunuak's belongings, Draeven relinquishes everything except the staff. Keeping a very firm grip on it, he growls out a warning, I think I will keep this for the time being.

Draeven will follow and assist Rennyn.

Admittedly I did glass over the whole chief asking questions. This was in part to save time since there was a break in posting. We can retcon a bit to answer some more questions if you like, however between the detailed testimony provided by the group (this will have included everything Tunuak said and what the group witnessed) and the evidence of "Katiyana's" body, the case is pretty cut and dry in the chief's eyes.

As Tunuak is being stripped of his possessions Chief Nalvanaq senses Rennyn's disappointment and questions, You have something to add?
...
Before Draeven can leave with his prize, two more guards step to block the big man's exit and Chief Nalvanaq calmly asks, Of what use to you is our shaman's staff?
