Shaeda Stormborn |

Shaeda moves forward into the room, just so she has a clean shot at the closest specter.
Shaeda takes the +2 to hit from Blessing of Fervor
She casts searing light at that one.
Searing Light: 1d20 + 15 + 1 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 15 + 1 + 2 + 2 = 38 vs touch
Normal DMG: 10d8 + 2 ⇒ (8, 4, 7, 7, 5, 5, 5, 7, 1, 7) + 2 = 58 vs undead with light vulnerability

Searok Ironbeard |

Searok will step next to Shaeda and attempt to hit the spectre that just touched her.
Attack Serithtial: 1d20 + 25 ⇒ (13) + 25 = 38
Damage: 1d8 + 9 ⇒ (8) + 9 = 17 + Evil Alignment: 2d6 ⇒ (3, 3) = 6

GM Kamro |

Searok hits the spectre, who is somewhat resistant to the physical damage, but not the holy damage.
Another spectre floats over and tries to touch Shaeda.
Touch: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (11) + 10 = 218 = 8 Plus Energy drain.
This one gets a hit.
Asyra enters the room and attacks that spectre.
Spiked Chain: 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (7) + 18 = 252d4 + 11 ⇒ (1, 3) + 11 = 15
She hits.
Mithrodar darts forward and attacks Asyra.
Perception: 1d20 + 23 ⇒ (11) + 23 = 342d4 + 7 ⇒ (4, 1) + 7 = 12
He hits her...but then suddenly is pulled back to where he was before he moved, as if attacked there by an elastic rope.
A third spectre glides over and attacks Searok.
Touch: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (5) + 10 = 158 = 8 Plus Energy drain.
Ziranu's up.

Shaeda Stormborn |

Fortitude: 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (15) + 18 = 33
Can we get you to roll those d8s for damage?
Shaeda will try and BG Searok…
Whip to Aid AC: 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (11) + 18 = 29 vs DC 10 to give +9 Dodge to AC
There are other bonuses for my two rolls, but only rolling 1s were going to make them fail. I probably saved Searok from getting hit.

Ziranu Barova |

Armed with layers of arcane and divine magics upon him, Ziranu steps back and turns his storm of arrows upon this chained spirit Mithrodar, using Clustered Shots to mitigate damage reduction beyond a single instance...
Manyshot-Rapid Shot-Deadly Aim-Invisibility-Haste-Blessed-Fervor-Enhanced Longbow Attack 1 against Undead: 1d20 + 15 + 6 + 2 + 2 + 3 + 1 + 1 + 1 + 1 + 2 - 2 - 4 ⇒ (17) + 15 + 6 + 2 + 2 + 3 + 1 + 1 + 1 + 1 + 2 - 2 - 4 = 45

Attack 5 Damage: 1d8 + 1d6 + 8 + 2 + 2 + 3 + 2d6 ⇒ (5) + (3) + 8 + 2 + 2 + 3 + (6, 5) = 34

Ziranu Barova |

Ugh, some poor rolls to attack after the first volley...only the magics can salvage any of the rest.
Post-shots analysis:
Damage breakout, assuming Attack 3 has no hope of success, and against which DR can count once:
- Against AC 28 or lower: 62+25+33+34 = 154 points of damage.
- Against AC 32 or lower: 62+33+34 = 129 points of damage.

Shaeda Stormborn |

I'm on it.
Anastasia will channel to harm undead as a Move action (using 2 daily uses and her Quick Channel Feat)...
Channel: 9d6 ⇒ (6, 5, 4, 3, 4, 6, 2, 1, 5) = 36 30' radius DC 24 Will Save for half damage
Anastasia will channel to harm undead as a Standard action (using 1 daily use)
Channel: 9d6 ⇒ (4, 4, 3, 5, 6, 5, 1, 5, 6) = 39 30' radius DC 24 Will Save for half damage
I believe those channels will hit every spectre, except the one far to the NE.

GM Kamro |

Four spectres within range, 8 total saves.
Spectre 1: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (6) + 9 = 15
Spectre 2: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (15) + 9 = 24
Spectre 3: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (4) + 9 = 13
Spectre 4: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (9) + 9 = 18
Spectre 1: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (19) + 9 = 28
Spectre 2: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (1) + 9 = 10
Spectre 3: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (19) + 9 = 28
Spectre 4: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (15) + 9 = 24
Spectre 1: 55 Damage - Toasted
Spectre 2: 57 Damage - Roasted
Spectre 3: 55 Damage - Burnt to a Crisp
Spectre 4: 55 Damage - Obliterated
4 Spectres down, including the one who was up next, so Tronar's up.

Tronar HanFrum |

@gm there should be 3 large tokens for the Azata, Lillend bards
Tronar will speak in Draconic to his new allies "you two please pursue the boss" and he will point at Zirannu's target with arrows in him.
Tronar will then cast Disintegrate at the primary target and green sickly ray protrudes from his finger
range touch attack on flat footed AC +2CL: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (7) + 10 = 17
disintegrate damage: 34d6 ⇒ (6, 3, 6, 3, 4, 3, 3, 2, 1, 6, 3, 1, 2, 1, 4, 4, 4, 4, 4, 3, 2, 6, 2, 6, 6, 3, 4, 5, 5, 2, 2, 2, 2, 2) = 116 DC 26 fort save only takes the first 5d6
SR if needed: 1d20 + 15 + 2 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 15 + 2 + 2 + 2 = 23 CL boost and Greater Spell Pen
He motions to the 3rd ally to prepare to cast invisibility after Tronar attacks.
The other 2 Azata, Lillend being hasted can now fly through the target area at a speed of 100' and attack.
ally 1
attack +1 longsword attack: 1d20 + 12 + 2 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 12 + 2 + 1 + 2 = 19
damage +1 longsword: 2d6 + 8 + 2 ⇒ (4, 3) + 8 + 2 = 17
ally 2
attack +1 longsword attack: 1d20 + 12 + 2 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 12 + 2 + 1 + 2 = 35
damage +1 longsword: 2d6 + 8 + 2 ⇒ (3, 6) + 8 + 2 = 19

Shaeda Stormborn |

It looks to me like the two summons are flanking the BBEG, so no way for her to hit him with this, so...
Shaeda, believing that the other party members can handle the boss, decides to try and end the spectre threat by dropping flame strike on the last remaining one.
Flame Strike: 15d6 ⇒ (3, 2, 1, 1, 4, 6, 1, 6, 3, 6, 4, 2, 2, 4, 1) = 46 DC 19 Reflex save for half damage. Bahhh, that's below average!
I screwed up earlier as the spectres moved in, Shaeda should have gotten AOOs on them, so if that last one survives and moves in Shaeda will take her AOO.

GM Kamro |

Reflex: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (14) + 5 = 19
The spectre floats towards Shaeda for revenge, provoking from both her and Asyra.
Spiked Chain: 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (18) + 18 = 362d4 + 11 ⇒ (4, 3) + 11 = 18
Hits, but it still "lives"
Touch attack if it makes it to Shaeda:
Touch: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (12) + 10 = 22
Damage: 1d8 ⇒ 7 Plus Energy Drain

Shaeda Stormborn |

+1 Shock Whip Hit: 1d20 + 18 + 1 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (19) + 18 + 1 + 2 + 2 = 42 Disarm, Reach, Trip
+1 Shock Whip Damage: 1d10 + 5 + 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 5 + (5) + 2 = 14
Is it still up? Either way, a 22 will miss me.

GM Kamro |

Searok just barely hits, due to Serithial's special powers against followers of the Midnight Lord.
Mithrodar again surges forward toward the center of the room (provokes from Searok and the Lillends) and strikes out with multiple chains at multiple people.
Chain against Asyra: 1d20 + 23 ⇒ (16) + 23 = 392d4 + 7 ⇒ (2, 2) + 7 = 11
Chain against Shaeda: 1d20 + 23 ⇒ (15) + 23 = 382d4 + 7 ⇒ (4, 3) + 7 = 14
Chain against Ziranu: 1d20 + 23 ⇒ (18) + 23 = 412d4 + 7 ⇒ (4, 2) + 7 = 13
Chain against Tronar: 1d20 + 23 ⇒ (8) + 23 = 312d4 + 7 ⇒ (3, 3) + 7 = 13
Anyone hit must make a DC 25 Will save or take 1 Charisma drain.
Asyra Will: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (5) + 8 = 13
And once again, after he does this, he is somehow sucked right back to his original spot, as if anchored.
Ziranu's up.

Tronar HanFrum |

@gm can you confirm he can see the invisible Tronar? my thought was the 3rd lillend would cast invisibility on Tronar after the offensive spell so he would stay invisible

Shaeda Stormborn |

Will: 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (10) + 18 = 28 +2 vs Fear
I believe Shaeda can BG on Astra...
Whip to Aid AC: 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (3) + 18 = 21 vs DC 10 to give +9 Dodge to AC
Asyra also has +1 AC from Haste, and maybe +2 deflection from spells.

GM Kamro |

@Tronar & Ziranu: He has this ability:
Spiritsense (Su) A chained spirit can detect both the living and the undead. It can detect living creatures within 100 feet, just as if it had blindsight. It can also sense the dead, as per detect undead, to a range of 500 feet.
It works like Blindsight, and Blindsight can see through invisibility. So yeah, unfortunately he can perceive you.
@Shaeda: With the spells, the BG will be enough to negate the hit on Asyra.
@Searok: Yes, I'll apply the extra damage.

Shaeda Stormborn |

Upon reflection, Shaeda is missed completely. She took the +2 to hit from Fervor, so she gets +2 to AC as well, instead of the +1 from Haste. Her normal AC is 35, and she has her amor blessing up for +2 (Light Fortification), so she's at a 39!

Tronar HanFrum |

will save DC25: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (1) + 14 = 15
Now that is a way to fail with style!!! loses a point of Chr as
well
AOO ally1 attack +1 longsword: 1d20 + 12 + 2 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 12 + 2 + 1 + 2 = 35
damage +1 longsword: 2d6 + 8 + 2 ⇒ (6, 3) + 8 + 2 = 19
AOO ally2 attack +1 longsword: 1d20 + 12 + 2 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 12 + 2 + 1 + 2 = 25
damage +1 longsword: 2d6 + 8 + 2 ⇒ (6, 4) + 8 + 2 = 20
oh and technically I think they each get a +2 I did not count for flanking if that makes a difference

Ziranu Barova |

Ziranu steps back to gain some partial cover, in surprised pain from the supernatural lash of the chain, and with a swift action to cast his second and last Instant Enemy spell, unleashes another storm of arrows using Clustered Shots to mitigate damage reduction beyond a single instance...
Manyshot-Rapid Shot-Deadly Aim-Invisibility-Haste-Blessed-Fervor-Enhanced Longbow Attack 1 against Undead: 1d20 + 15 + 6 + 6 + 2 + 3 + 1 + 1 + 1 + 1 + 2 - 2 - 4 ⇒ (2) + 15 + 6 + 6 + 2 + 3 + 1 + 1 + 1 + 1 + 2 - 2 - 4 = 34

Ziranu Barova |

Rapid Shot-Deadly Aim-Haste-Enhanced Longbow Attack 4 to Confirm Critical: 1d20 + 15 + 6 + 6 + 2 + 3 + 1 + 1 + 1 + 1 + 2 - 2 - 4 ⇒ (14) + 15 + 6 + 6 + 2 + 3 + 1 + 1 + 1 + 1 + 2 - 2 - 4 = 46
Additional Attack 4 Damage if Confirmed: 2d8 + 16 + 12 + 4 + 6 ⇒ (2, 1) + 16 + 12 + 4 + 6 = 41

Ziranu Barova |

Post-shots analysis:
Successful critical hit. Damage breakout, assuming Attack 2 is a miss from prior experience, and against which DR can count once:
- Against AC 31 or lower: 68+33+82+33 = 216 points of damage.

GM Kamro |

Nice. Allowing for incorporeality halving all damage from a physical source, you did 108 points of damage. He had 106 HP left, so you just pulled it off.
Ziranu's onslaught of arrows pierces Mithrodar, passing through, but each one nevertheless tearing away a bit of his essence. At last it is too much for him to hold himself together. The chains that envelop his ectoplasmic form snap, and he collapses into vapor.
With Mithrodar's death, you feel something change in the air around you. The walls of the castle begin to shimmer and brighten, as the shadows that clung to them recede. The sounds of countless sighs whisper in your ears, as if in relief.
A small bit of luminescence appears before you, before growing larger. Soon it takes the form of a ghostly man, middle aged with long hair and a sad expression. He looks around in confusion, before seeing you.
He raises a hand in greeting, and speaks. His voice is marked with a strong Ustalavic accent.
"Well met, Liberators of Scarwall. I am the Count Andachi. And everything that has occurred here, the evil you have vanquished and that you have yet to face, is my fault."

Shaeda Stormborn |

Shaeda is very wary of this man, but she figures talking can't hurt, for now. "Keep on with your tale Count Andachi of Tamrivena."
Is there some knowledge skill about this guy?

GM Kamro |

History or Local would do it.
Sial speaks up: "You're the one who set Kazavon on his path to power."
Andachi nods regretfully. "It was more than eight centuries ago. This land was still recovering from the rule of the Whispering Tyrant. His armies of orcs, now unrestrained, rampaged across the land. I led troops against them, but had no mind for strategy, and we suffered horrible losses. Even my prayers to Desna went unanswered. In desperation, one night while I was in my cups, I cut my hand and offered up a blood sacrifice to he who was patron to my ancestors, Zon-Kuthon. It was a moment of weakness, but the next day a sellsword appeared at our gates like none I had ever seen. He fought like a rabid beast, and bested dozens of my men to prove his credentials. He was called Kazavon, and he offered me his services as general."
"Soon he had whipped my armies into a force to bring terror to the hearts of all who faced them. The orcs fell before him in droves, and eventually were driven into the Kodar Mountains. I ignored so many signs Kanavon was a madman, rumors of entire villages burnt just to prevent the orcs from obtaining supplies there, of people horrifically tortured on the mere suspicion that they may have aided the enemy under duress. The land was safe at last, and I accepted these tales as the price of victory. And all he asked for in return was a minor title, and a fortress from which he could guard the borders against further incursion. It seemed too good to be true. I gladly constructed Scarwall to his specifications, around a spire sacred to his faith. Tolerating one faithful to the Midnight Lord seemed such a small price to pay."
"All too soon his true nature became clear. Diplomats and traders disappeared. He went through servants by the dozen. In secret he was no man at all but a dragon, and denied the ready supply of meat war provided, he consumed his own subjects. At last I was forced to act, raising an army against him. But Kazavon was too strong to be bested. I was captured and flayed alive. For over a decade Kazavon ruled a land of depravity and horror, killing thousands. Eventually the paladin Mandraivus came, wielding the very sword you do, friend dwarf. He revealed Kazavon's true form, and slew him. But his evil didn't die with his body, his remains had to be separated to prevent his resurrection, and a curse fell upon this castle. Only now has it been lifted. But still Kazavon's black spirit does not rest, and all because of a fool who couldn't see what was right in front of him."

GM Kamro |

"Not here. You have done a great deed today, and purified this place of his evil, and in doing so unlocked the restraints on the sword that slew him. Yet I sense that your quest is only partially complete. I have dwelled in Kazavon’s echo for too long not to feel his strength, his influence, take root in your queen, so far away. Strange names that I do not know are in my head. Korvosa. Ileosa. Sabina. Your own. Kazavon quickens in your home, and you must cast him down as surely as you have cast down his presence here."
"As for myself, I am finally free to join the River of Souls and face judgement for what I set in motion so long ago. I can only hope that what little aid I can give you will cause the Gray Lady to look upon me with mercy. Farewell, and above all, make that bastard lizard pay."
He fades from sight.
Okay, couple of rewards for you!
First of all, Serithial is back to full power, If you don't recall, here is what it can do, and it now has access to all those abilities. It's also an intelligent item, although it communicates only via empathy, so if you want to consult it let me know and it'll try to make its feelings known.
Second, each of you gets the Marked For Glory feat from Andachi's remaining power as he fades (no need to meet the prerequisites). Once per day each of you can add 1d6 to any d20 roll.
Finally, searching the room you discover a hidden panel in the floor that leads to a small magical laboratory. It seems that in his earlier days, before he lost what remained of his sanity and became little more than a foul presence that permeated the castle, Mithrodar railed against his inability to leave the confines of the place and schemed to escape, though was never successful. The walls are covered in scrawled notes on plane shifting and teleportation, half-written scrolls lie torn up or crumpled, summoning circles have been chalked all over the floor, and hanging on a rack is a Staff of Travel that Mithrodar completed but was never able to use (no need to identify, it's described in the notes).

Shaeda Stormborn |

"It's never as simple as, 'great job, take some shore leave' is it?"
Items added to the loot list. I assume Searok keeps the longsword. Despite being CG and wielding a LG weapon. He's still doing what the sword wants, so it won't take him over, yet. We've got a LOT of money tied up in a couple staffs and some prayer beads! We can discuss loot in Discussion.
