Pregen - PW |

Mavaro, seeing a weak place on the spire, attempts to climb the building and push over the part that is casting shadow on the statue.
climb: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (16) + 3 = 19

Oloch-Siriak |

Oloch tells Kyra, I don't have a rope, but maybe I can just climb up there.
climb: 1d20 + 4 - 5 ⇒ (12) + 4 - 5 = 11
I don't suppose that is good enough?
As Oloch climbs he says, Must...get...lighter..armor.

Hakon - Spencer |

Hakon watches as two people of the group attempt to climb the mausoleum. Mavaro looks like he is able to get a handle on it, though it seems like Oloch is having a terrible time at it.
"Ha!" Hakon laughs a little at the sight, though Hakon knows enough about armor that moving in such bulky armor can dampen a person's climbing ability quite a bit.
"Ah, Sorry Oloch. But you do kinda look like a shiny beetle trying to climb up on the smooth bark of a birch tree." Hakon says. Still finding such an image funny in his mind. He is also keeping an eye on the noble "girl", though he has a different name for her demeanor.
Still readying to grapple her if she tries to run.

Mavaro has little issue climbing to the roof of the Sarvio Mausoleum. Oloch, on the other hand makes slower progress. But given effort and patience, you'll make the DC 15 Climb eventually.
From atop the Sarvio Mausoleum, you can easily identify the weakest point on the spire, though it will take a significant amount of hacking away (36 HP, Hardness 4) to topple it.
When it becomes clear to Rhiannon that two of you will be up on the roof for awhile, she attempts to escape (gotta be easier to flee 4 than 6, right?), barely evades Hakon's grasp and makes a break for it.

Cries of pain and the faint smell of smoldering hair can be sensed as Yoon's fire connects.
You see Rhiannon duck her head, trying to power through it enough to get free, despite the pain.
Up: Mavaro, Oloch, Hakon

Oloch-Siriak |

Having finally struggled to the top of the structure, Oloch sees combat break out once again down below.
Frustrated after his difficult climb, Olch cries out, Gorum! Why do you test me so!
He takes out his sling and attacks.
attack: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
Oloch throws down the sling in disgust and turns his attention to destroying the top of the mausoleum.

![]() |

If Rhiannon was looking back, she'd have seen Oloch's sling bullet hit the side of the nearby Tullivor mausoleum. She might have even smiled. That said, it seems she has other things on her mind.

Hakon - Spencer |

I was readying for just that! ^_^
Knowing that this would happen, Hakon snarls towards her. "Not so fast girl."
Readied Grapple Attempt: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 11
Hakon tries his best to grab hold of the fleeing girl.
... At least she's flat footed, right? >.>
With missing with is grab, he sees her flee towards the exit of the graveyard. Hakon rushes after her to drag her bag to the masoleum. "Get back here!"
Grapple Attempt: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (14) + 3 = 17

@Hakon: You did ready an action. Here. It missed. (And since there's a 'cannot ready actions outside of combat' rule in PFS, I let you have a surprise round action before she tried to flee. It's all moot, really, because...
Hakon catches up to Rhiannon and makes purchase on his second attempt to grab ahold.
Grapple: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (11) + 3 = 14
"Unhand me, brute;" she exclaims, trying to wriggle to a spot where she has more leverage, but to no avail. She pulls out a short sword that has a bit of dried blood on it, hoping to free herself the hard way soon.

1 person marked this as a favorite. |

Ah, sorry. Completely forgot about it. >.<
Hakon struggles with her, trying to pin her down. "Brute!? My people have more culture and history than you, Galtians at this point!" And when he sees Yoon slowly move towards them, he speaks to her. "Careful, she has her sword out.... Ha! I knew it, you did kill that poor guy!"
Round 2
Hakon tries to pin her against the wall of the Masoleum to stop her struggling. "I. Said. Stop. MOVING!"
Grapple to Pin: 1d20 + 3 + 5 ⇒ (19) + 3 + 5 = 27

Oloch-Siriak |

Seeing the northman has the situation well in, um, hand, Oloch takes out his fury on the weak spot on the mausoleum roof.
He uses a full round action to line up the hit
damage: 2d6 + 6 - 4 ⇒ (4, 3) + 6 - 4 = 9
the -4 in my attack string is for the hardness of the roof.

![]() |

Seeing that Hakon has grabbed the woman Kyra is less worried about her fleeing. She walks nearer and draws her scimitar just in case it's needed.
"You are not one to learn your lessons quickly are you miss Tullivor. We have caught you after your crime and have been very lenient with you. We do not wish to harm you but if you continue to try to escape we will have no choice but to knock you senseless!"

![]() |

I should pay better attention to my NPCs.
Estra's psychic attack on Rhiannon has no effect, this time.

Honaire makes purchase, slamming into the noble while Hakon holds her down.
"You keep insisting that I've committed a crime. There's only one crime and that is the rampant vandalism your friends are enacting on MY family's mausoleum," she shouts, as if summoning all of her anger and strength to free herself.

Kyra, still wounded from her fight with the bird, decides that discretion is the best option for now. She waits to see how her allies handle the situation ready to move in if needed.
"You WILL be brought to justice my lady!"

Rhiannon muscles herself into a better position on Hakon, and Honaire slams into the back of her, knocking her unconscious. She loses her grasp, but collapses onto Hakon.
Meanwhile, the roof team manages to dislodge the spire, which collapses, first with a massive groan, then a swift snap and crash. The shadow cast over Tullivor's bust disappears and the mausoleum door creaks slightly.
Regrouping and (pressing along slightly) exploring the mausoleum the party finds a gleaming tapestry hanging above Laban's casket, depicting the Tullivor family crest and motto: "Never in Shadow." There is no sign of any platinum chalice.
At this point, you have an unconscious noblewoman to decide what to do with. Otherwise, there's not much else in Gralton.

Pregen - PW |

"This tapestry is worth quite a bit of coin," Mavaro says.
"I suggest we turn this woman over to the authorities. I think her confession to us may suffice. But she had the wrong son...she needed sunlight."
appraise: 1d20 ⇒ 17

![]() |

"I think you're right Mavaro, her mistake cost a man his life and she should be turned over to the authorities before we leave."

Oloch-Siriak |

Oloch considers the dead boy and the bound woman, both local aristocrats.
The thing is, what are we going to tell the local authorities? We weren't exactly doing charity work here. Perhaps it is best if we just left her here with a note or something. Someone will discover her shortly. In the mean while, I think we should get out of Gralton as quidkly as possible.

Yoon-Phylotus |

But what about the cup? Should we look around a bit and try to find it? Yoon asks, looking from face to face as she does, the note sounded insistent that we get it.
Her eyes finally come to rest on her stuffed owlbear, to whom she asks, What do you think, Gom-Gom? She then holds the doll up to her ear and pauses as if she were listening. After a few seconds, realization dawns on her face and she seepishly says, Oh... you're right Gom-Gom, it did say that she had the cup. Well, we should still look around for more treasure anyway, just in case!

![]() |

Honaire's thorough (Perception=24) search finds nothing of note.
A nudge:
Oloch leaves a small note on Rhiannon's body explaining the situation as the party knows it, and upon leaving, sound an alarm to call the guards to the Gralton Cemetery as the party slinks away, leaving Gralton, the Tullivors, and the Sarvios in the past (save for a pricey tapestry). Estra will have to go shopping at a later date, it seems.
A return to Ulisha's campsite back in the River Kingdoms shows no sign of the missing half-orc. As a matter of fact, it looks as if no one has been here since you left for Gralton.
You're one tapestry richer but have no more clues than before the trek to Gralton. Where to next?

![]() |

"Well that was rather eventful. I hope our next destination has less birds and less annoying nobles to deal with!"
Happy to go with the majority vote for next destiantion.

![]() |

The trek north out of the River Kingdoms towards Cannibal's Grove takes the group into the southeasternmost Ustalavic county, Varno to a small, rough spread of cyprus, laurel, and alder trees known as the Forest of Veils.
As the last light of sunset dips below the forest, the party arrives at the treshold of the forest. The last bastion agains the forest proper is a small single-story inn, crumbling with age and moss standing at the road's end. Looming over its squat frame, a dense curtain of foliage marks the border of the Forest of Veils. The sign above the door reads “The Restless Bear,” and it seems to refer to a stuffed bear’s head that lolls upon a flagpole near the eaves.
Inside, the common room feels like a cave, its sagging rafters clogged with yarn, shabby ribbons, and odd miniature knick-knacks that reinforce its claustrophobic atmosphere. A spindly widow with a broom hails you, "Travelers usually aren't out that late, hehe," she laughs at a joke that must be only funny to herself. "Get a warm bed and a roof over your head," she instructs, tacking on "Only 5 coppers apiece?" She smiles invitingly, waving you in as she moves to a small stove in the corner of the room and begins cooking a thin stew.
Soon, the inevitable question is asked.
"What brings you this far into Varno?"

Oloch-Siriak |

Perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (19) + 4 = 23
Oloch takes a moment to consider the Bear's head before entering the inn. 'Interesting', he thinks to himself as he looks around.
5 coppers seems a fair price for a place to stay for the night. How long until the stew is ready?
In answer to the lady's question, Oloch sys, We are just weary travelers, looking for a place to rest for the evening. Luckily, we happened upon your establishment.

Hakon - Spencer |

To the Grove we go
Traveling along, Hakon tries to figure out how to add the latest endeavor to the list of exploits he has been a part of. When they arrive at the crumbling in, with a sign on the outside named the "Restless Bear". He shrugs when he sees the name. "I've seen worse I guess." But then he notices the bear's head on the flagpole.
Kn Nature: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8
He shrugs after seeing the bears head. "I guess that is appropriate."
When they entered the Inn, he sees how... Tiny it is. It surely wasn't like being on a longboat from home. Thats for sure. He nods in agreement with Oloch. "Aye, five coppers for a night is alright. And for why we're here? Just traveling through. Adventurers and all that." He thinks a bit and shrugs. "Not much else."

Best Pregen Ever! |

Upon entering the cozy inn and listening to the other woman offer her rate, Estra fumes.
"Five copper!? Why, in my... our day that would buy a whole week's worth of nights! Plus dinner! I tell ya, highway robbery this is!"
Estra eventually does dig into her coin purse and hand the other woman 5 copper... after making a show of it.

![]() |

This place looks a little run down, but i'm sure it will be fine.
Well this place seems nice and cosy. 5 copper it is ma'am. As my friend here says, we are travellers and explorers. My name is Kyra, who might you be?"

Yoon-Phylotus |

Yoon hums a jolly tune along the road and all the way into the Restless bear, seeming fazed by the spooky forest or the run-down inn. She only seems to stop when she sleeps or when she sees the bear's head and blurts out, That's a really big head! I haven't seen them set outside before though, cause rain and stuff.

Pregen - PW |

Mavaro enters the inn with his comrades and looks around casually. It seemed like a fine place to stay.
perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (14) + 4 = 18
DC 50 perception?!!

![]() |

DC 50. Not a typo. Pretty sure it's impossible at level 1, but I figured I'd give you a shot.
"The husband always called me Birdy, and the name stuck," the widow responds to Kyra. "Though he hasn't been around since 5 copper bought a whole week's worth of nights," she tacks on, laughing with an honest enjoyment. "Stew can be ready in about ten minutes, or four if'n you don't mind raw potatoes, eh?"
Birdy hustles off to the kitchen and 2d6 ⇒ (4, 5) = 9 minutes later has a bowl of piping hot stew in front of all six of you. The broth is thin and the meat a little gamy, but the big chunks of potatoes and carrots and a reasonable amount of ground pepper and sage make it both smell and taste delicious.
"Now, I don't mean to pry- -some guests come out to somewhere this remote to get some privacy- -but what exactly adventure are you on? There's plenty of adventure in Varno that doesn't bring your path into the Forest of Veils," she says with genuine concern. "Are you running from something?"
