@Aspex: You can play if you wish, it will be incredibly dangerous. I won't force you.
And if we have Gob Thinking of Arrested Development now... c'mon!, then we'll do the Scions series.
I'll be ready by Friday at the latest.
So far, welcome to the group Gob (and maybe the foolhardy/brave Aspex).
Aspex |
Eh, if you'd be willing to let her play I'd be happy to play her again. A first level wizard isn't much more than a crossbow specialist, but I enjoy her personality. :)
What's the worst that could happen, right?
Saitama |
Well, biggest risk would be dead PC, and since I see this is an aasimar, you'll have trouble replacing her. Unless someone else objects, then I'll allow it. If you want to use a pregen and apply the credit to Aspex, though, I can do that, too.
Marduk the Pale |
What's the worst that could happen, right?
THE line that spells person is asking for it.
Then again, you've got Wyeth and Marduk along. ;) So there's a decent possibility you won't be target #1.Shasta Lux |
Could you review the characters that will be in this?
I'm thinking about whether to play Shasta (bard 4) or Benson (Fighter 2 Rogue (Pirate) 1.
Looks like we will have Wyeth (Oracle 3), Marduk (Monk 3), Gob (Wizard 4), Hakimi (Paladin 2).
So it looks like two dedicated fighters and two spellcasters who are competent fighters in a pinch.
I'm thinking a bard would complement the group in some interesting ways, but I'd be willing to run Benson if the group thinks we need the extra combat prowess. Shasta's not too shabby with a longsword and whip, so I'm inclined to play her instead of Benson.

Oh I dunno, "What could possibly go wrong?" could give it a run for the money. :o)

While I really, really wish it weren't true, Wyeth does tend to be the preferred punching bag. :o/ (Though not as bad as Kwin, mind you...)
Thanks for responding to the ping/rising to the occasion, guys. This is a good group and I think you'll ("we'll all") enjoy teaming up.
Shasta's not too shabby...
I think Shasta will be fine and, like you said, that could lead to some neat interplay. But Benson's great, too. I think either will work.
Aspex, speaking of hoots: Look forward to the day you get to play alongside Saitama. :o)
Saitama |
Either or Benson/Shasta. You were up for playing the bard before :)
The APL is 2.6, which rounds to 3. Because it's a 6 person party, it'll be high tier, but with 4 player adjustments, which helps somewhat. Regardless, I do suggest planning accordingly and preparing additional countermeasures.
Shasta Lux |
All right, I'll play Shasta. She has a wand of CLW with 50 charges, so that can help keep people healthy in battle. If we are concerned about water, perhaps we can get a pack animal (donkey, mule, camel?) and load it up with full waterskins and extra food.
Wyeth Riceak |
Wyeth's wand was down to 11 charges so he invested in another after Azlant Ridge. That's 111 charges between us (plus native CLW (up to 6/day) if things get really bad). So, as long as the rate of healing can keep up with incoming damage, the quantity shouldn't be an issue.
I'd be more concerned about accessibility, to be honest. Wyeth has pretty significant skills for avoiding AoOs but that only goes so far, and he doesn't have Stabilize.
Having been in the situation (not with Wyeth), I can tell you that watching a comrade bleeding out on the far side of a skirmish where you can't get to them with a wand or touch-based cure is a pretty sickening feeling.
So, let's not do that. :op
Shasta Lux |
Shasta's pretty agile, with an acrobatics of +7, so she can probably keep out of harm's way most of the time. She does not have stabilize either, but a zap with the CLW wand should handle that also.
Gob Master of Greed |
Looks like Gob has the means to purchase a quarterstaff of intertwined serpents. I think I have a drop box link for the GM to prove my sin magic user archetype is pfs legal.
Aspex |
If you want to use a pregen and apply the credit to Aspex, though, I can do that, too.
I didn't realize that was an option. I wouldn't mind playing a pregen. Do you have a link to the writeups?
Saitama |
@Aspex: That is an option as long as your PC is level 1. At level 2 plus, you either have to hold the credit or apply it to another PC (or think you'll have the survivability at level 2 and play Aspex).
Scions 1:
Weeks have passed since Venture-Captain Nieford Sharrowsmith departed for the Bandu Hills, and having not heard from him since but learned of an Aspis Consortium expedition bound for the same destination, the Society and local allies have grown worried for the aging explorer’s safety. As the PCs travel south on Sharrowsmith’s trail, they must track the venture-captain to the ruins he sought while also dealing with the aftermath of his actions.
Scions 2:
A powerful guardian stands vigil over the ancient ruins where Venture-Captain Nieford Sharrowsmith disappeared recently, yet the beast has a weakness: a prophesied talisman now in the possession of an elusive grippli tribe deep in the Kaava Lands. The PCs must win the reclusive people’s trust and claim the prize—all before the Aspis Consortium does!
Scions 3:
Having bested the Aspis Consortium and recovered a powerful weapon, the PCs return to the Bandu Hills to delve into its ruins, confront the ancient guardian within, and find their missing venture-captain. Even greater secrets lie below, and the Pathfinders soon find that there is more to the so-called Golden Guardian than legends suggest. Are the PCs resourceful enough to survive the mounting danger and find Nieford Sharrowsmith?
Gob Master of Greed |
@Saitama: This character does give a few hat tips to arrested development. Like his noble clothing that seems to magically gain value and his willingness to admit when he's made a huge mistake.
I just peaked at the game play thread for the first time and I'll try and have Gob fully prepared soon, hopefully tonight.

I wouldn't mind playing a pregen. Do you have a link to the writeups?
Were you looking for a write-up of the story arc scenarios, or the pregens? This download has the latter.
I do enjoy that staff; got it on my Envoy of Balance :)
We so need to get him in a party with my "Agent of Entropy." :op
Aspex |
Yes, I have the pregens. The first description looks like it could use a ranger or slayer. I've never done a dual wielding crit monkey, so what do you think about Zadim, the pregen Slayer, DM?
Marduk the Pale |
It's just a question then of how many wights I can stick in here.... mwa ha ha ha.
You know you're asking for it now, don't you?
I mean, after i caught the escaping invisible imp by jumping out the window in a most awesome way, some psycho nurse pulled it off successfully.
Fyi, you haven't seen the last of her...wuhahahaha.
Yes, pardon to the others, that was totally unrelated.

Thread's up! Not much else in there, but the thread's there. Get all situated and we'll get started soon!

Just FYI, it looks like the Gameplay link points back to this iteration (unless it gets fixed before the edit window closes).
But one can go to Discussion via the second link and then tab over to Gameplay.

As noted before, we'll be doing 4-5 tier, but with the 4 player adjustment as the APL rounds to 3 and there are 6 players. When everyone has posted in the new thread, we'll get started and I'll let GM G know to close this one.
