Saitama - I laughed out loud several times now this morning, thanks! :)
"A Shield spell! That will be tougher, but it is only personal..." Merevelyn says, redirecting her wand to the southern goblin.
I assume she would know that, using her Shield spell for just this purpose.

Marduk and Darmut are both covered in filth, but do not think they got anything into their mouths.
No disease for you
Sterelin tries to lull the bard in sleep, but this goblin has more willpower than the average goblin. Merevelyn's spell reaches the target this time, her assessment seems plausible.
The sleeping goblin wakes and tries to stands up. Shersht is not pleased with the goblin's behaviour and bites it as he stands up, resulting in one goblin down. The spellcaster takes a step back, removes a wand from its clothing and heals himself. The last goblin also takes a step back and removes a flask from it's belt. Seeing how hard it was to hurt Shersht with conventional weapons he tries alchemical ones, but misses the Roc.

Sorry, I, too, have never done that, though I have a system set up on my sheet.
Merevelyn fires another magic missile, this time at the other non-shielded goblin.
MM: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
43 charges remaining.

Darmut moves round the pipe and stabs at the goblin near the swewer with his trident driving it powerfully home. Shersht flaps forward, but is less successful in his assault upon the spellcaster.

Merevelyn, the reminder for Sterelin is because of me GMPC'ing him. I trust that everyone is honest with their charges and consumables.
Darmut and Shersht fell the evil bard and Merevelyn takes care of the last goblin.
Combat is over, if you want you can stabilise the bard and/or the other goblins

![]() |

Ah, I see. No problem either way, though. :)
Merevelyn will cross the small bridge, carefully testing it for strength before she does so. "Healing isn't my skill," she calls out.
Conveniently leaving debates about the downed goblins' well-being to others, Merevelyn casts Detect Magic and scans around the room and the fallen foes.

"'Ware the caltrops," Wyeth calls out to Merevelyn.
Wyeth has one 1st level invocation left (read: CLW) and it's reserved for party bemefit.

![]() |

No one has a Wand of Cure Light Wounds? O.O Oh my... It is usually my first purchase - even as a wizard - but I've gone with wizard stuff so far. :-\
"We have the one potion, from Ekkie," Merevelyn suggests, "... and," she adds, a little begrudgingly, "I have one, too." "How did we survive this long?"

GM G |
Quick post from phone:
Merevelyn finds:
- wand of CLW (29 charges)
- brooch of shielding (39 points)
- 3 alchemist's fire
- 4 caltrops
- weapons & armor
- other minor loot
Fun fact: when I ran this locally the party had no healing left after this encounter and failed to identify the wand. In fact some players were convinced it contained scorching ray...

![]() |

Darmut casts create water a couple of times over Marduk to, waiting while the others examine the loot and then using a charge from the wand on Shersht then himself.
Merevelyn should be able to identify by taking 10 I believe.
CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 1 = 9
CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2

GM G |
Merevelyn identified everything with her rolls
Merevelyn also identifies a potion of resist energy (fire)

![]() |

One charge used, thanks!
Sterelin breaks his silence with more of his typical complaints... These are trickier vermin than most I've encountered. Alchemist fire, magical songs. I've had about enough of this...

![]() |

"Hmm... goblin sticks of divine recovery are much cruder looking than Iroran ones."
Then looking at Darmut and Marduk, Saitama can only then say, "That went swimmingly!"

![]() |

Merevelyn hands the broach of shielding to Sterelin, "On the rare chance we'll be attacked so, and I have my shield spell to protect me."
She then picks up another alchemist's fire for herself, and discusses something quietly to Ekkie.

GM G |
Merevelyn, you are nailing the Silver Crusade Faction mission ;-)
Next update tomorrow, needs some map work and I am now (local time 21:00) returning from the lovely green island called Ireland.

GM G |
The pathfinders carefully continue to explore, they pass several empty rooms and in the distance can hear some fleeing goblins. After turning several corners they squeeze through two pillars and enter a large hall. Two rows of pillars support the arched roof and when Marduk enters he sees a bugbear sitting in front of a makeshift throne constructed from the broken remains of a smashed statue and other cracked blocks of masonry. Marduk immediately motions the party to stop.
The bugbear stands up and looks at Marduk "well, well, what have we got here? You must be the ones that caused such an uproar in those stupid goblins."
Keep in mind that it is still dark in here, Merevelyn has a light source that projects bright light in 20 ft and dim light to 40ft.
My understanding is that lowlight vision does not double these ranges, as the light source does not carry that far.

![]() |

I would argue your understanding of low-light vision is incorrect low-light vision specifically allows you to see double the distance in, "...torchlight, and similar conditions of dim light." Your argument would invalidate this statement. I would certainly count light spells, "This spell causes a touched object to glow like a torch," - Darmut has one running to - as similar conditions. Though that said its possible light rules have been FAQed after that was current
A creature with low-light vision can see twice as far as a human in starlight, moonlight, torchlight, and similar conditions of dim light. It retains the ability to distinguish color and detail under these conditions.
There is a good PFS guide to lighting effects - which also disagrees with your interpretation HERE.

GM G |
Thanks to Sterelin's spell the entire area is lit, you notice two goblins standing at attention flanking the throne.

"Are we waiting for something?" Merevelyn whispers, before casting shield from her wand then stashing it in her belt.Round one.

"Imma supposed to punch that thing? Challenge accepted!", speaks Saitama before quickly chanting, "Oh Irori, gives us the aim so that our muscley blows may succeed in knocking the evil out of our foe. And may our courage be steadfast in the process of doing justice. Let our foe see the power of our athleticism and wisdom of our do-goodery so that the baditude may be unbroughten from this place!"
Cast bless for +1 to attack rolls and +1 to fear saves for a minute

Wyeth mutters "గైడెన్స్" as he makes a subtle hand motion. Casting Guidance. Since it's a touch spell I'd have added "and then touches himself" but that just sounds naughty. :op

Wyeth....you should have seen how a RotrL i'm in went thusfar. We've had that sort of stuff too, but i'm sure that with our cleric or Calistra and 2 other women the AP will feature more wordplay.

"Are you here just to gawk at me? If you want to fight we can arrange that, just send your champion to me"
"And if you want to talk, you can send your diplomat forward, the rest stays there."

Somewhere a vein on the calm half-orc's head is pulsing.
"And some say half-orcs are barbaric brutes who crave combat?"
Diplomacy: 1d20 - 2 ⇒ (2) - 2 = 0
"Darmut, be reasonable!"
Lol, this is enjoyable, a half-orc monk of the fist who'd prefer diplomacy prior to combat. :)

GM G |
Darmut, demoralize has a range of 30 ft, does that mean you move towards the brute?

![]() |

"For a creature of his sort," comments Wyeth quietly, "he seems too... I don't know... Smart? Calm? Rational?" He shifts his grip on the staff of his fauchard. "Watch for trickery. There may be someone else involved too. Or he might have traps and schemes set."

![]() |

"A key to successful diplomacy, however, is knowing when not to use it. For example, I would suggest not doing so with the leaders who see themselves in a position of strength, with brute-strength murderers, or with the chaotically evil. This seems to be all three, and a bugbear," Merevelyn speaks softly to the group. "Please act with the signal."
After Merevelyn gives her short discourse, she retrieves a small golden sphere from her necklace and moves ahead 20 feet where she says, "You wronged the Pathfinders and tried to have us killed, so here is our counter offer -"
Round 2, 2 move actions.
She tosses the fireball sphere directly at the bugbear, then moves east behind a column, letting her wand of magic missiles spring into her hand.
Round 3, StA and MA and a SwA.

Broken into possible rounds, in case they begin to act earlier.
Merevelyn identified the necklace, but, looking back through the thread, we never said who it should go to, so I'll presume it would still be with her.
"Hmm. Not the precise statement I was hoping to make..."
