If any of you have questions that I overlooked in my haste to get this campaign going, please post them here yet again.
Also, all statblocks should be finalized, and I'd like everyone to get the standard:
(AC xx / HP xx / F +x, R + x, W +x / Init. + x / Perc. +x)
down below the names.
Otherwise, if everyone is ready to go, we may begin!

@GM Gluttony: Glad to hear you are still here ;-)
@Erodin: I have no problem with a little PvP, as long as it does not escalate to the point of actively trying to kill one another - being evil does not necessarily mean being incapable of working cohesively with a group (especially if you are Lawful Evil); it just colours how you achieve your goals...
Artorius Pavo |
Indeed.
Erodin, I was thinking, maybe we can link our backgrounds slightly. My character was condemned for the crime of sedition (in addition to a few others) and it could very well make sense that the 'vile and illegal' books that you were smuggling instead of your regular items of interest were a part of the sedition. We wouldn't know each other directly, but it could seek to connect the world a little more. What do you think?
GM - Should we make the sense motive in the RP thread to read whatever spoiler is there?
Erodin Stark |
@ Artorius - I'm all for tying backgrounds together. It seems pretty straightforward to say that I was smuggling vile propoganda for your people, but they got captured/killed. Then the authorities went in to arrest the suppliers as well. Maybe I was also providing weapons for your cause without realizing it. If we just invent the name of a contact person, that'll make it easier to draw the connection. We'll see if an opportunity arises.
Artorius Pavo |
GM - how close are we chained near one another and how much leeway do the shackles and ankle restraints give? If we tried, could we clasp hands or pass something from one prisoners hand to the hand of another prisoner?
GM Gluttony |
You're ankles are only secured to the other prisoners ankles by a chain, so you could move those all you want. Your hands, however, are bound fast to the wall above you, making it impossible to exchange or pick up anything with them. Your hands are bound loosely enough that simple gestures are possible.

Obviously, I posted that OOC comment on a Kingmaker alias by mistake.
Speaking of languages, my character was studying other languages before he was nabbed. Eventually I plan on taking multiple ranks in linguistics. I am personally leaning toward learning -
Giant
Yukai (The half-orcs/orcs)
Halfling/Iraeni (The barbarians)
Goblinoid
Artorius Pavo |
My apologies to any Bengali or Tamil readers. I only used those languages because the scripts are unfamilar in the west and work well for the mystery of the Necril and Infernal languages.
I am not trying to suggest that Bengali is the language of hell or that Tamil the spoken tongue of the dead.
I wonder if elsewhere in the world people use the Latin alphabet similarly?
Artorius Pavo |
Well, nothing left to do but try to escape!
I hope this plan works. I suspect that peeling/ripping off a patch will create the genuine artical, but I could be completely wrong. Considering how our hands are shackled, ripping it off with my mouth seemed to make the most sense. I can potentially get close enough for Erodin to grab. If need be I can even try to dislocate a shoulder - painful, but better than being executed.

Artorius: Aaaaaah! I just dislocated my shoulder but I'm halfway towards Erodin. If you just dislocate your shoulder I should be able to pass you the picks.
Erodin: Aaaaaaah! There goes my shoulder but I still can't reach! Jethryk, help us out!
Jethryk: Aaaaaah! Ok I've dislocated my shoulder as well, but now we can get Erodin the picks! Finally!
Ezra: Um, guys... I dunno if is is a bad time to bring this up but, I can cast Mage Hand...

Hilarious! Yeah, I know Ezra has mage hand, but my character certainly doesn't. It could be extremely useful if someone drops the lock picks. It won't be me. No sir, not with my fine hand eye coordination and steady hands...
Artorius Pavo |
Using grease on the area in front of the door is a really good idea. My character will comment as much once the whole situation with the veil and (hopefully) tools are resolved. He's a little focused on the matter at hand at the moment.
I guess we wait on the GM now.
Ezra Winter |
Thank you! It will be a better idea if it works.
The matter of the veil and tools is certainly a pressing issue. I don't think anyone wants to be shackled a moment longer than necessary. Hopefully, all will go well.
Artorius Pavo |
Glad to hear you are better.
Considering that we wish to taunt the guards and anger them enough to enter the cell and attempt to silence us, do we need to make rolls for that or can we deliberately fail our diplomacy rolls to decrease their attitude to hostile (or blood thirty)?
During out watch period did we happen to hear the name(s) of the two guards outside our cell on this watch or any tidbits of information about them (married, seeing someone, hates another guard, had a child, etc)?

When I made the group perception check it wasn't quite good enough to hear much through the heavy door, however you could try listening now if you'd like. Also remember that there's a rotation of guards, and you don't quite know how many or who's who.
As far as diplomacy checks, those would be unnecessary. You've all been such good quiet prisoners that you haven't had the chance to learn that the guards will enter the cell at the slightest hint of raised voices (which I'm telling you now because I'm assuming that's what your next course of action is.
Artorius Pavo |
While I am loathe to use my limited spells so freely, we do need to get out quickly and quietly and the chance the guard will fail his will save is rather high. It seemed prudent, especially for the added bonus of making him taint his soul with (maybe) the slaying of his friend before we send him to his own death.
Artorius Pavo |
I try.
Ezra, since you go first, you could probably move to the door and close it - or alternatively you could ready an action in case Wencelas doesn't fall under the effect of the murderous command (or just delay till after his turn anyway, since after he tries to murder his buddy, we need to murder him)
Artorius Pavo |
How delightful! He chopped the hand from his friend in a gruesome display.
A question on initiative for PC's - When a group of PC's are clumped one after another in the initiative order should we just post when we are able or should we post in order? I know the former has the advantage in speeding things up in large combats to prevent waiting.
