Ground Rules
1. Maps are on Google Drive. Pleast tell me if you have trouble accessing maps there.
2. I will roll initiatives for you, and often perceptions and saves. I like to keep the game moving, and nothing turns a PbP into a slog like waiting for 6 people to make rolls.
3. I expect you to be able to post once a day or once over the weekend. I have no interest in rushing a delicious RP scenario like this, but I do like to keep things moving. That said, please don't sign-up with a character you need to finish it with by a certain time.
4. Please let me know if you have any weird mechanical things ahead of time.
5. As with the rest of the GM's and the Venture-Officers in my region, I allow scrolls in spring-loaded wrist sheathes.
A few things about me and how I run things:
This run is my third run of the scenario and my first in PbP. This scenario is easily in my top five ever. I have played in PbP for a couple years now, and this is my first forray into the GM seat in PbP
I consider myself an RP GM, but I also am very well-versed in the rules, and I check everything. I will be looking over your character sheets and telling you if anything is wonky. Any disagreements should be handled in the discussion thread.

1) Urban barbarian; I always rage for STR unless I specifically say otherwise;
2) When it's feasible I'll probably have extended heroism up on myself (100 minutes a pop using the lesser rod, 3x day), but I'll try and remember to keep my statline updated accordingly so it's accurate as to saves etc.;
3) Conan has Crowd Control; his AC goes up by 1 if adjacent to 2 or more enemies. I will also try and note that when it happens, but if he's adjacent to one foe and a second one comes in to hit him, his AC will be one higher, etc.
4) Acid resist 5, in the unlikely event that will ever matter
5) Trap sense +1
6) Uncanny dodge, cannot be caught flat-footed
7) Well-versed, +4 on saves vs language, sonic, bardic
8) +2 on saves vs enchantment
9) Immune to sleep
aaand that's all I can think of right now! Anything I'm forgetting should still be clearly noted on his sheet.

Luisila is a vanilla healing ➞ buffing ➞ archer cleric. Mind you, her damage output is meagre for this level. Her standard combat tactics involve keeping the heavy hitters up and buffed to the gills.
Her player loves roleplay and tactical combat, and I’m looking forward to playing this scenario with you all.
Lady D has made some cameo appearances in Luisila’s previous adventures. The two do not play well together.
I will of course not let any animosity affect the mission or others’ enjoyment, but thought mentioning it might add another dimension to the roleplay.

Greetings!
Wei Ji is a 'nuanced' member of Liberty's Edge. This makes him a bit of an 'odd bird', as it were.
Rather than the typical rabid rabble that comprise the apparent bulk of the Edge, he's very much a philosophical freedom sort. If someone wasn't under a compulsion to be a slave, for example, and they *wanted* to be one? Well, that's their *choice*. But they have to be able to make the *choice* free of any coercion.
Being a follower of Irori, everyone should have the right and ability to follow the path they choose. In the context of this given mission, the chance to learn from one's alleged 'opposites' is an insanely amazing opportunity that one rarely gets.
Amongst Andoran and the Edge, he's been whispered to be the Valiant Wing of the Edge (Eagle Knight Vanity).
He also has a Nexus Crystal. The interaction of those two particular items means he takes 20 points less of negative energy (such as channeling or 'injure' spells) and has a 25% chance to negate negative levels from any attack.
In addition, he has a +1 Bashing Heavy Darkwood Shield.
With his weaponry, he usually uses a shield bash as his 'main-hand' attack, then an 'off-hand' attack with a variety of sawtooth sabres (cold iron, +1 mithril, adamantine). He does have Improved Shield Bash, so he will get the benefit of the shield even if he does bash with it.
His typical melee tactics are to 'tank'/fight defensively, and if he can apply 'sneak attack' damage to his opponent, he can deny them the opportunity to AoO for one turn.
With the Liberty's Edge Faction cards check-offs, he gets a +1 to attack and damage against known slavers (the first award)
There may be other things that come into play in extremis, but I can't think of them at the moment.

I myself have never actually played any of the First Steps games, so I can't get detailed in her response. Sorry D:
Linda Zayas-Palmer mentioned in this recent blog post the possibility of un-retiring the First Steps series.
… we have heard the feedback that people would like to see First Steps Parts 2 and 3 unretired, and we are looking into that idea as a team.
So maybe you will get the chance to play it!

I'm in kind of a tough spot here.
I know *of* the Slave Pits, but Wei wasn't in that scenario (played with a different character).
I don't want to stomp on anyone that may have any sort of benefit or awareness of that situation on their characters here.
However and unfortunately, out of the remaining candidates that's probably the best one *for* Wei to talk to, since he's played Rebel's Ransom and could at least use that as a 'starting point'.
Lady Darchana seems like she'd be a better fit for a wizard/mage/sorceror/arcanist?
Lady Vaelia doesn't seem to be accessible?
Scion Lord Kerkis is like, *the ideal* target for someone that may be from the Exchange, so don't want to stomp over there..
I'll go on 'Social Delay' until everyone else takes a target.
Well, regarding Darchana at least, we have no such classes with us. ;) Conan's two levels of bard are the closest thing we have to an arcane caster, unless I missed something. I certainly won't begrudge anyone talking to Darchana, but I'll also do so if nobody else does.

@Wei Ji Lady Vaelia is accessible. Her manservant just refuses to allow the Blakros staff to do anything for her. Also, Lord Rothos is the easiest to influence (I've always seen him get influenced first), so don't expect that other targets will be quite as easy!
@Luisila there are always circumstance bonuses for good RP available.
I'll get the response posts up when I get home tonight.

It's the Merchant's Wake all over again! Aieeeeee.
Wei came up with insanely amazing 'sales pitch' to one of the people, so much so that the two Exchange (Qadira) people at the table stopped and stood up and said "SOLD!" to me, and the GM looked at me and said "Okay, now roll it with modifiers. Don't worry what you roll, you've more than sold me as a GM. Just don't roll a..."
We don't need to discuss what the die came up as...
Given what the party's reaction was, and the GM, it didn't go quite as poorly as one might suspect, but it was still a heart-stopping moment in gameplay.

I'm going to allow you to use the boon if you wish.
I will also allow you to edit your post to change it to Lord Kerkis, but I will have to say no to letting you Bit of Luck a diplomacy check. Bit of Luck lasts one round and a diplomacy check takes at least a minute, unless you are taking a -20 to rush it. The general rule is that such effects and bonuses must apply for the entire duration that you are making the skill check, not just when you initiate it.
Don't worry about it in this case anyways, as thanks to Wei Ji's assistance, you will be perfect :)

There's nothing actually wrong by the rules with having two people target one guest, but given the format of PbP and the nature of the mechanics, it's better to split up (and makes my life easier).
For those having bad luck with rolls, don't stress about it! You guys are doing great, and you've got a number of rounds of Mortal Influence Kombat left throughout the evening :)
