Right now I still have to assume everyone's actions and predict my round 2 actions based on 0 information.
If we were using block initiative, I would know how the enemy acted as well, without anyone having to wait for me. Right now I'm taking a second action without knowing the placement of any NPC's which is particularly tricky with low level archery.
GM Giuseppe |
As Catina said, we're already using block initiative. This time I asked Sev to post two turns worth of actions only because I noticed that in the last week or so Sev was always the last one to post, so I assumed it would happen this time too, thus allowing him to know his companions' actions. Anyway, if it's too confusing for you, then just go with one turn of actions, no problem. It was just a way to speed up the fight and to avoid losing pace as Sev posts; knowing that we belong to different time zones, it makes sense, because Sev usually posts when in Europe it's night. Catina, just like me, it's from Europe, and we share the same time zone. Thus, if Sev posts at night, Catina would have to wait a whole day before being able to post, and Sev must wait another day in order for Catina to post. It could seem like a minor issue, but in fact it causes us to lose two days/turn. Something I would not define as very immersive and I would rather avoid in order to make combat a fun experience instead of the painful experience it somehow turns into when playing PbP, so much that I've personally suggested to sacrifice realism and knowledge for pace's sake. Anyway, as I said above, if it's too confusing for you, then we'll just go with block initiative, even though it will cause combats to last a few RL days more.

So I'm confused...
⁞⁞⁞⁞ INITIATIVE ⁞⁞⁞⁞
▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔
① Sev
② Armigers & Shanwen
③ Lorenzo
④ Catina
⑤ Faustinia
I'm assuming this is Round 1.
Did the armigers already act? I think not but it's not clear to me.
ARMIGERS DID NOT ACT
If the armigers did not act, then Lorenzo, Catina, and Faustinia have to guess what the armigers are doing.
If that's the case, and Lorenzo gets skewered by the ballista then Catina's action might be different. This is what I'm talking about.
ARMIGERS ACTED
Then only Sev was being asked to guess our actions only.
I'll play whichever so just let me know.
GM Giuseppe |
Sev acts first. Than the hellknight. I've posted their actions before Sev's post in order to save some time.

Got it.
Thanks.
Posting now...

I've got a busy Sunday ahead of me guys, so I'm not so likely to have the time to post (demanding post with such a high number of foes).

I hope it's the fun kind of busy. :)
Enjoy your Sunday and thanks for letting us know.

That's totally understandable. Looking forward to your next post, hope you're not overwhelmed today!

Er, this is a tough fight so everyone be careful.
May the dice gods be with us. :)

Apologies again, but for my A.M. posting, I can't currently see the map. I want to use my bonded object to cast color spray, but I can't tell what my positioning will be. Is there room for me to 5-foot step away from being threatened and catch a bunch of armigers in the 15-foot cone (without hitting Lorenzo)? I'd also be open to trying to cast defensively, if that would give me a better position.

Thanks, all!
Also, I just took a look at my previous combat posts after my latest natural 1. Faustinia's attack rolls are all either under 10 or 18+. It's very odd...
Lorenzo Mancini |
Questions...
Which armiger attacked Lorenzo?
Is #2 flat-footed, threatening?
Are any of the armigers standing hurt?
Lady Faustinia Xerysis |
Could I get another look at the map?

I'm not sure if I'm not supposed to look under the 'GM Rolls' or just not under the 'skill checks'. I don't care what my players do but I understand that some GMs have rules about that.
In any case, I did look and found out that the dice rolled do not correspond to what you wrote.
What happened?
Did you roll on another website?
Anyway, I'll post according to the written narrative...
GM Giuseppe |
Lorenzo: Somehow I failed to notice your Improved Shield Bash feat and applied a -2 penalty to your AC. You can ignore the last damage Lorenzo took.
Sev: As I understand it, you can't just make a Stealth check without having a proper source of concealement. If I remember correctly, there's an option to use Bluff in order to distract an opponent in order to allow to make a Stealth check. Anyway, given Sev current position, I can't see anyway he could possibly hide behind or any source of concealment. As such, I've ignored your sneak attack damage, but if I'm missing something (which is completely possible, given my current conditions) just let me know.
GM Giuseppe |
Lorenzo: Action economy would prevent you from doing that in a single turn. Move action to move. Move action to draw your potion. Standard action to make Catina drink the potion.
Also, your hp should be 9/12. You took 3 points of damage before.

OK, it sounds like I would take a whole bunch of attacks to do that now so I'll attack instead.
Sorry Catina. :(

Sorry for that critical :(

GM Giuseppe wrote:Faustinia, please roll for your eagle attacks. Also, Lorenzo, please roll for your attack and damage.Ah, sorry, I meant to include a line about the eagle disappearing. I don't have anything special that makes it last more than 1 round per level, so it's gone now.
Summoner's Charm: Whenever you cast a conjuration (summoning) spell, increase the duration by a number of rounds equal to 1/2 your wizard level (minimum 1). This increase is not doubled by Extend Spell. At 20th level, you can change the duration of all summon monster spells to permanent. You can have no more than one summon monster spell made permanent in this way at one time. If you designate another summon monster spell as permanent, the previous spell immediately ends.
The best part of it is that you have it already :D
Lady Faustinia Xerysis |
Oops! This is the first time I've ever played a wizard, and I also forgot about that the first time I summoned something. I should double check and see if there's anything else really neat I'm missing that I can do!
GM Giuseppe |
Guys, just wanted to let you know that I'm going to be away from home in the next few days, and without any internet connection available, I'm afraid. I'll be coming back on April the 6th, and resume my usual posting rate from that day on.
Hope you'll understand. Sometimes university calls and you can't refuse.
Lady Faustinia Xerysis |
Thanks for the heads up! Hope everything goes well with your university stuff!
GM Giuseppe |
1. any damage on the passed save?
2. Let me know if I can attack...
3. I'm trying to move my token to on top of the wagon but it keeps going 'under'. Please help. :)
1. 1 fire damage.
2. Attempt a DC 10 Climb check. If you succeed, you're able to attack.
3. Done.
GM Giuseppe |
Lorenzo has reached the top of the wagon. He couldn't take 10 even if he wanted to, because he's in combat. Succeeding at the check would have allowed him to attack in the same round of his climb, but failing the check doesn't mean he failed to climb atop the wagon.
As far as Catina's potion goes, I've ignored the part where Lorenzo speaks about the potion because that would have denied him the whole round of action he declared. Giving the potion to Catina and performing the other actions were contradictory options: I've given precedence to the one he rolled for.
Lorenzo Mancini |
I was hoping that dragging Catina was not a full round action and my intent was always to give her the healing potion. See my subsequent posts today.
If that was not possible during the last round, then Lorenzo would stay where he was and administer the potion now.
And I'm sorry I forgot to roll for the potion, which seems to have made that more confusing.
Giuseppe: Your call on to whether Lorenzo administered the potion during the last round or during this round but he's doing that. :)

Are any of the armigers obviously carrying any means of restraint? Manacles, rope, etc.?

Nope :)

Hey guys, sorry again for my absence. I've been called to an accademic interview in Turin (which is not exactly near to me) last weekend, and I didn't had the time to inform you before leaving.
I'll post today as normal.
Thank you for your patience.
Lady Faustinia Xerysis |
You've been gone a couple of times for academic stuff now; I hope that means good news! Glad to have you back, as always.

Hey guys, what happened? It's been 24 hours from my post and no one replied.
Lady Faustinia Xerysis |
Hey, sorry, it was a long week for me and a busy Friday, and I think I just lost track of time. I'll get a post up soon, thanks for the reminder!
Lady Faustinia Xerysis |
I've deducted two potions during the combat: One for myself and one for Arael. We found six: I propose Catina takes 2 (which brings her back up to 3), Lorenzo takes 2 and Sev and Faustinia one each. I've also added the letter to Catina's inventory.
That sounds good to me!
