Lady Faustinia Xerysis |
Welcome, Varius (or Korech)! Good to see you again. As you can see, I've traded Shirzon's fumbling UMD attempts for some proper magic. I'm looking forward to whatever trouble we can manage to get into this time. ;)
GM Giuseppe |
Very good first post, Alessandro.
I need to correct you on a point, but don't worry about it. You just joined us, it's normal that you don't know everything about our story. We're giving the Eyes of Westcrown a much more hidden feel than the AP assumes by default. As such, I'm sure Alessandro wouldn't have mentioned Arael during his casting nor when introducing himself to the others. Anyway, don't worry about it. It is completely understandable on your part, and I will just assume Alessandro didn't tell anything about Arael and Janiven at all ;)

@Faustinia - Absolutely! I'm playing a polar opposite of Korech (and frankly a character more typical for my style) so this should be good fun.
Anyhoo. Gear is selected. I purchased one magic item assuming that's okay. The rest of the gear is really just his weapons and armour and a noble's outfit. Varius has never even left Westcrown so wouldn't exactly be brimming with standard adventuring gear. He has around 600 gold in cash handy being idle rich trying to unidle himself and whatnot.
I'm set to go for whenever the game can accommodate me.
Alessandro Esposito |
My bad. Yes, you can assume I didn't say that then.
I'll also do another post with my perform (act) and diplomacy rolls.

Spells copied from Millech's spellbook:
2nd level: minor image, pyrotechnics
Checks: DC 17 Spellcraft (Take 10 for result of 20)
Costs: no fee + 1/2 price inks = 20*2 = 40 gold
Time: 2 hours
Lady Faustinia Xerysis |
I'll give acting a shot as well. Faustinia just picked up a new spell that might help as well...
Petals |
I'm fine with it, though Petals is petrified. While the post I'm writing will suggest otherwise she'll follow the lead of anyone brave enough to jump up there.

Regarding the boon for befriending Calsenica, does the bonus only apply to the final performance or does it apply to the performance rolls during practice as well?
GM Giuseppe |
Alessandro and Catina, can I please have a Perception roll from each of you? You can roll it here in the Discussion Thread.
GM Giuseppe |

It applies to the all the performance rolls you'll be making (as long as you're playing the Six Trials and Calseinica is present, of course), thus also to the rehearsals.

Good evening all, just wanted to I was waiting on the final introduction before posting, but probably won't be on again tonight. I'll try to post in the morning. If I don't make it, I apologize in advance.
GM Giuseppe |
Hey everyone, I'm not feeling good today and I likely won't be able to post. Please feel free to assume that the group has some time to interact after the introductions. As such you can use the time until I come back to roleplay among yourselves, perhaps getting to know each other better.
GM Giuseppe |
Hey guys, I'm feeling much better today so, as you can see, we can resume our usual pace, although your roleplay has kept me good company while I was forced to stay in bed. Well done and thank you for keeping the pace up!

Glad to hear that you're feeling better, Giuseppe!
Hey friends! I also have one quick note as we continue. As pointed out in the gameplay thread, one of the characters Varius could end up playing is "Farus the Traveled, a self-styled gypsy king." However, "gypsy" is a derogatory racial slur in English for the Rroma people - so if you didn't know, now you know! We'll see how relevant this character in the play becomes, but I just wanted to address this before we go too much further. I propose that we simply avoid the slur and call Farus by whatever literary archetype he fills: clown, traveler, etc. Thanks for reading. :)
Petals |
I'm all for not using anything that might offend. That one isn't used much to refer to a particular people anymore, but instead a archetype I think, which is why it is so prevalent in fantasy. I've never really given it thought but you are right as to its origins and how some may still use it, so happy not to use it.
Alessandro Esposito |
I've never considered gypsy derogatory and have no issue using it. But it is unlikely to come up in many of my posts anyway.
GM Giuseppe |
Hey, Varius' post just made me realize that I didn't specify that you can also try and befriend a NPC during the fifth day at the theater. Since Robahl is spending his time with everyone, you are free to choose any NPC you like. For those who have already posted, as Catina and Varius, you can add a smaller post detailing your interaction with the selected NPC.
GM Giuseppe |
The bonus applies to any performance, including rehearsals. But it doesn't apply to Diplomacy checks to befriend NPCs.
Varius Liberare |
I'm out for the weekend at an ice fishing stag party. If I survive, I'll be posting again come Monday. Have a good weekend! That said I may get another post in this evening if so needed.
GM Giuseppe |
Giuseppe, did befriending Millech give me a boon as well? You didn't specify in the gameplay post.
Right, I was expecting this question and forgot to specify it in the OOC section of my post. Yes, befriending Millech gives Catina a boon, but unlike other boons, it won't come into play before the party performs at the Nightshade Theater. You will recognize the boon when you will enjoy it, of course, but at the moment I can't tell you anything more about it :D
Catina Bon Durati |
Fair enough. I'll just await the surprise then. :)
Also, a note with regards to my gameplay post. I am fully aware that it's quite cheeky to place my 'befriending' scene after receiving the circlet. I could fully see that Robahl doesn't fall for it, because he knows that Catina is wearing it. However, it felt in character to do it like this, and it shows that Catina does have a clever/mischievous side to her, even if she doesn't show it all that often.
Varius Liberare |
Although I've read back I'm sure I've missed stuff. Do we have any indication from the material within the play of what kind of dangers we'll be facing? Varius comes intentionally unequipped so this is an opportunity to change that ;)
GM Giuseppe |
Varius, by healing potions you mean potions of cure light wounds? If that's so, they should cost you only 100 gp (50 each).
GM Giuseppe |
Yes. Arael is able to offer you all the potions he can brew at their base cost, that is, at half the total price. Anyway, he does not always have what you need already brewed. He always keeps a few potions of cure light wound, cure moderate wounds and lesser restoration ready, but if you need something specific, you should ask him and wait for him to brew the potion for you (this usually takes 1 day).
GM Giuseppe |
This is for everyone. I was considering the idea of running the play a little better than my initial proposal. Instead of copy/pasting the lines in a single post, perhaps we can agree on a specific time interval in which we can all be checking the Gameplay Thread every 5 minutes or so, and post. I think it would take approximately 20 minutes/act. Thus, i.e., if we agree on being all ready at 18:00, each of you should check the Gameplay post every 5 minutes or so until 18:20, and post his character's lines when needed. Since it is copy/paste, it wouldn't be too demanding and actually very easy to accomplish I suppose. Would you be willing to do that?
Catina Bon Durati |
I would be willing to do something like that, but it might be difficult due to different time zones. Also, I fear it might take longer than 20 minutes. Remember, for each line we're waiting for a specific person to post. Another point: if all we're expected to do is post our line, that might lose some of the personal touch.
Personally, I'd like some time to consider things to add, how Catina feels and delivers her lines. I know I'd feel rushed of I knew everyone was waiting for me...
Maybe another suggestion: We could set up a Google doc, where one of us pastes the text from the current act. We give all players a day or so to embellish our own lines. Then, we take that text, in its entirety, and Giuseppe places it in the gameplay thread to maintain the proper flow of time in the campaign.

This is clearly a much better idea than mine! I propose we do like this, if everyone agrees :)
Lady Faustinia Xerysis |
I do like Catina's idea about the Google Doc. Having us all post the lines in order isn't a bad idea, but the time zones make it tricky; I think the times that would work for me best (after work) are something like 3-8am for Giuseppe!
Having a shared document to work in and adding in some sly looks or internal monologue for our own parts would read more like our usual style, too, I think.
