I had a post get eaten...

The lead tengu sees the bloodied bodies, and says "Ok, then - I see you already have things well in hand. Do you know who sent these men to kill you?" Apparently, this is the city guard come to rescue you.

Once you all sort of wrap up the situation, you can finally get some rest and recharge spells, etc.

***OVERSEER ANNOUCEMENT***

Overseer thread

The first rays of light creep into the inn’s window, accompanied by a loud knocking at the door. Someone in the hall screeches, “The sun is up! Time to gather your tickets and head to The Opera!”

***

Arriving at the opera, you are greeted by a trio of actors dressed in the garb and makeup of a traditional opera from Lung Wa. They seat you in the first few rows. Looking around you see a few others also in attendance. Strangely, there are no sets and the unlit stage is empty except for three plain wooden chairs. Then Kiang Zhen strides onto the stage and addresses the audience.

“Today I am treating myself to a display of opera, which all of you shall perform for me! Backstage, you shall find traditional costumes that will determine the roles you will portray. You may choose these roles yourself, but be forewarned - you must act within the limits of your role. Your objective is to perform an epic combat against a rival group. However, there must be no bloodshed. Any shows of lethal force will result in your immediate disqualification from the event. The troupe able to force its opponents to yield is the victor. Now go and prepare yourselves for the evening’s performance. It starts in 10 minutes!”

"Well, at least we don't have to kill anybody. I guess we are supposed to wrestle or something. Let's go see the costumes."

Cuethric will help guide the group back stage.

Knowledge | GSC | Mummy's Mask | WftC | RotR$ | Carrion Crown

There are 8 costumes available to you. A trio of aasimars stand by to assist you in readying for the performance, helping you don costumes, apply makeup, etc.

The costumes are as follows (all damage listed assumes Medium creatures; reduce by 1 size category for Small PCs):

Leading Male (Sheng)
There are two leading male roles for the performance, the General and the Monkey King. The General wears a long beard and fights with a wooden sword (1d8 nonlethal) and armor (treat as splint mail). The Monkey King wears an elaborate monkey mask. The Monkey King is portrayed as an acrobat and trickster and is permitted to cast spells.

Leading Females (Dan) There are two leading female roles, the Warrior Woman and the Wizened Crone. The Warrior Woman wears full armor (treat as splint mail) and peacock feathers, and fights with a dulled, bladed polearm (1d8 nonlethal). The Wizened Crone wears long robes and walks with a cane. She is permitted to cast spells.

Painted Faces (Jing) The Jing role represents a strong and forceful male. The two choices for this performance are the Noble Warrior and the Cruel Bandit. Noble Warrior wears red face paint and full armor (treat as splint mail), and wields a large club (1d10 nonlethal). The Cruel Bandit wears blue face paint and wields a long wooden knife (1d4 nonlethal), specially balanced to allow a capable individual to make nonlethal sneak attacks with it.

Clowns (Chou) These humorous characters are allowed to speak with the audience in order to make jokes at their opponents’ expense. Chou are also permitted to cast spells. Male Chou identify their characters by painting wide white circles around their eyes. Female Chou paint their faces red with black circles about the eyes. Clown costumes do not include weapons; however, Chou can carry and wield a broom or stick (treat as an improvised weapon dealing 1d6 nonlethal damage), claiming it to be whatever weapon they desire for the sake of performance and comedic value.

Sorry. I'm sure I posted yesterday but apparently it didn't take.

Bambang has travelled through the regions of Lung Wa when he come to Absalom from the Isles of Minata. During that time, he has attended a few performances of the Lung Wa opera but never did he expect to actually be part of one.

Clearly looking uncomfortable with the whole enterprise, Bambang examines the costume of the General. With this beard, perhaps no one would recognise me. He gestures to the attendants that he would take that role.

Ditto, can we cast spells before going on stage?

As you get into your costumes, the aasimars explain some specifics to the rules.

"Once you assume the role given, you must obey the rules. This is a test of endurance and stamina, but there is to be no bloodshed. If you cause your opponent to bleed, the combat automatically ends and the offending group forfeit the match."

All the costume weapons are designed to deal nonlethal damage and thus do not impart the normal penalties for using a lethal weapon to deal nonlethal damage. If an attack deals lethal damage, the combat automatically ends and the offending group forfeit the match. A team wins by dealing more nonlethal damage to each member of the opposing team than those characters possess, until all opponents are staggered or unconscious. The sparsely set stage contains only a four chairs, a stick, a broom, and a small table. Those playing roles allowed to cast spells may augment these props with illusions or conjuration magic, so long as none of the spells deal lethal damage to the opposing team.

I see nothing in the rules that states any existing spells must be released, so I think buffing ahead of time is ok.

Before going on stage, Bambang draws two of his wands to activate on himself. The first one he does so with ease, while the other he takes a bit of concentration before he gets it to work. Then, just before curtain rises, he lays his hand on his greatsword, calling on its spirits to strengthen his weapons, including the wooden sword he is wielding.

Activate wand of heightened awareness, UMD wand of longstrider, and cast lead blades.

UMD:

UMD wand of longstrider: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (4) + 12 = 16
UMD wand of longstrider: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (10) + 12 = 22

When we enter combat, Bambang will dismiss heightened awareness to get +4 to initiative.

As you enter, you see similarly dressed people join from the other side.

Regarding healing: I looked back, and no one did heal after the last fight. Adrasteia - you menetioned using CLW after the sewer, but never rolled the amount. I did heal everyone 1 pt overnight - I am not sure why Yarricki would heal 4 for a single night's rest, though. In any case, if you want to retro healing before getting started, that is fine - just roll it (or otherwise explain it) and subtract charges as needed.

GM:
I think the reason whey Yarricki healed by 4 is that under the Healing section in the combat section of the CRB (weird it is the combat section)

"Natural Healing: With a full night's rest (8 hours of sleep or more), you recover 1 hit point per character level. Any significant interruption during your rest prevents you from healing that night.

If you undergo complete bed rest for an entire day and night, you recover twice your character level in hit points"

Also it is completely my bad for not rolling and assuming to take average I should have asked first for this I apologize and will roll for in the future and I am willing to take minimum which should still get me maxed out with the full night of sleep.

@Adra- yes, I missed that you were the target of the barkskin. With me unsure of status bars being updated, I have had to go back and reconstruct AC and stats for both parties now, so hopefully it will go smoother.

The Cruel Bandit (green) strikes again at Adrasteia.

Attack: 1d20 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 4 + 2 = 18
Non-Lethal Damage: 1d4 + 1d6 ⇒ (2) + (4) = 6

Adrasteia starts bleeding as blood splatters from the hit.

The General continues to wail on Cuethric.

Attack: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (12) + 9 = 21
Damage: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7

The Monkey King continues to be a thorn in Adrasteil's side, kicking at her.

Unarmed Attack: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (7) + 0 = 7

I don't know why this is her tactic, but I believe it draws an AoO from you...

aoo: 1d20 + 5 - 2 ⇒ (5) + 5 - 2 = 8

Adrasteia is far too creeped out by the clown to form an effective swipe towards the shin kicking monkey king.

Are the aasimars watching the show? Is there someone to appeal for a violation of bloodshed to? If there is, Velinov will attempt to draw attention of the foul to them.

Kiang Zhen is watching the show from mid-theatre. The aasimars are back stage, and don't seem interested in the performance.

Velinov screams, "I call foul! They drew blood! Our Blue Bandit is bleeding!".

If pretending to be a professional soccer player doesn't get us anywhere...:

Velinov casts grease (DC 16 Reflex) on The Cruel Bandit, hoping to disarm him.

i am not sure, but i think Cuethric's damage got put on red and not yellow. I think i contribited to this as i thought yellow was the monkey king and not the general. I guess cuethric should have studied his tian opera costumes more in school.
