Will Save: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (8) - 1 = 7
This time, the red orc is dazed.
Since Tolinath still hasn't checked in, he will continue up the path. As he does so, the Green archer fires at him (readied attack), but he drops the arrow as the bowstring leaves his fingers.
Attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4
Red, dazed, stays grappled.
The orange orc leader stomps up to Mavin, intend on cutting her down.
Falchion Attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (18) + 5 = 23
Crit Confirm?: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (20) + 5 = 25
Damage: 4d4 + 8 ⇒ (3, 2, 3, 3) + 8 = 19 Ouch!
Mavin almost falls from a single blow, but she manages to hold on.
Round 2: (Bold may act)
Mavin (grapple, 19 dmg), Tere, Gaia, Thran, Atticus (no climb), Tolinath
Orc/Orange
Archers: Red (1 dmg, grappled, dazed), green, blue
Thran
|
Thran continues to climb, but looking down decides not to push his fate and carefully climbs up a bit and ends up behind Mavin
Climb: 1d20 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 4 + 2 = 13
He then concentrates his arcane powers on the orc leader hoping to daze him for a few seconds giving us the time to regroup
Casting daze on orange, Dc 13 will save..now let's hope he isn't above 4 HD..and will fail his will save
Thran

I just remember we have a boosted healing aid token from Chaosorbit..how do we use that? Is it an action..or can we just say we use it and we get 1d6+2d6 healing for Mavin now?
Tere di Montefeltro
|
I'm assuming that red can't take an AoO since it's dazed; if that's not the case, move Tere back 5' to the left and resolve the attack against red instead of orange. Note, btw, that using the token will heal us all.
Tere drops from the wall and closes with the orcs, drawing his sword and aiming a quick slash at the orc leader.
Cutting the Orange: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (13) + 5 = 18
Damage, if that hits: 1d10 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6
Atticus Atkinson
|
The wording says "Once per encounter, any character at a table can use an Aid Token to assist the group in one of the ways described below." It doesn't say what if any type of action it is. But I think it doesn't count as an action, so I suggest Mavin roll the 3d6 healing!
Realizing running around the path will take to long, Atticus tries yet again to make the climb.
Climb 1: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (19) + 1 = 20
Climb 2: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (20) + 1 = 21
A 19 and 20 that outta do it.
Pride hurting from the failed attempts, Atticus digs deep and rushes up the hill!
Double move
Tolinath "Red" Bronzebeard
|
I am so sorry for the no show. Taking athletics as well.
Tolinath makes a B-line draught up the cliff towards archer with the green hat.
Climb, Str, ACP, Athletic, fast climb: 1d20 + 3 - 3 + 2 - 5 ⇒ (20) + 3 - 3 + 2 - 5 = 17
Climb, Str, ACP, Athletic, fast climb: 1d20 + 3 - 3 + 2 - 5 ⇒ (5) + 3 - 3 + 2 - 5 = 2
Stopping short of his intended Target.
Double Move that fails :(

Mavin cries out in agony as the orc's falchion cuts deep across her torso, releasing the archer in her shock. Her pain swiftly converts into vicious rage, however, and she unslings her halberd from the strap on her back and swings it at the orcs with all the fury of a northern winter. "I WILL NOT DIE IN MY HOMELAND AT THE HANDS OF ORCS!"
Free actions: 1) drop the grapple, 2) rage, 3) activate Mavin's Martial Tradition (Northern Fury) convention boon, granting her the Cleave feat for 3 rounds (since this is an adventure associated with the Realms of the Mammoth Lords and the Holds of Belkzen, I believe I can use the boon once without checking a box?), and 4) declare use of Pathfinder Excellence (Combat) boon from her Siege of Serpents Chronicle sheet, checking a box to roll her Cleave attack twice and take the better result (I assume it doesn't apply to the second Cleave attack too?).
Move action: Draw masterwork halberd.
Standard action: Cleave for days.
Alternate Attack vs. Red (mwk halberd, rage, Power Attack, Cleave, flank): 1d20 + 5 + 2 - 1 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 5 + 2 - 1 + 2 = 12
Damage vs. Red (mwk halberd, rage, Power Attack, Cleave, sneak attack): 1d10 + 7 + 3 + 1d6 ⇒ (8) + 7 + 3 + (4) = 22
Attack vs. Orange (mwk halberd, rage, Power Attack, Cleave): 1d20 + 5 + 2 - 1 ⇒ (11) + 5 + 2 - 1 = 17
Damage vs. Orange (mwk halberd, rage, Power Attack, Cleave): 1d10 + 7 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 7 + 3 = 16
I know no one else is hurt, but if everyone's cool with Mavin cashing in the aid token that'd be most helpful.
Aid Token – Burst of Healing: 3d6 ⇒ (2, 3, 3) = 8
Mavin's Current Health (raging for +4 to HP): 14/24
Rage Used: 1/6

@Table GMs: Encounter G is still available, but there are no further benefits for it.
So GM, since we don't get any benefit for finishing this encounter at this point and I spent some limited use boons on my last action which posted 16 minutes before the Overseer GM announcement, any chance I can take that action back and hold onto those boons for another day?

There is still benefits for completing THIS encounter, there is just no need for people to get more successes on the Leaders Encounter (G). Still need lot more successes on this one we are on.

Sorry, busy night! Yes, this encounter counts - the leader one no longer does.
@Tolinath, you made the first check, and since you used -5 for accelerated, you do get half way up. But since you failed the second one so bad, you fall back down, and actually take 1d6 dmg unless you have a way to mitigate it. However, I think we can say that the aid token was used after that and call it a wash.
Mavin cuts red in two, and fatally wounds the orc, but that darn orc ferocity kicks in and he just won't die. Well, that is until Tere finishes the job! @Thran - I didn't bother with the daze due to the imminent death of your target, and the other two are out of range.
Blue turns and shoots at Tere. Blue and green should not be called archers. They both suck.
Attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4
Green continues to shoot at Tolinath.
Attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6
Round 3: (Bold may act)
Mavin (10 dmg, rage), Tere, Gaia, Thran, Atticus, Tolinath
Archers: green, blue
Passing on aid token - NICE use of it!
Tere di Montefeltro

Blade still dripping with the orc leader's blood, Tere closes silently with the blue putative archer and cuts it deeply with a swift slash.
Slash: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (20) + 5 = 25
Ah-ah?: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (14) + 5 = 19
Base damage: 1d10 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5
Crit damage, if applicable: 1d10 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7
Mavin Krane
|
Blood still dripping from both the blade of her halberd and her own injury, Mavin sprints toward the near archer, taking a flying leap to bring down the point of her weapon into his back.
Full round action to charge the archer.
Attack (mwk halberd, rage, Power Attack, charge): 1d20 + 5 + 2 - 1 + 2 ⇒ (15) + 5 + 2 - 1 + 2 = 23
Damage (mwk halberd, rage, Power Attack): 1d10 + 7 + 3 ⇒ (10) + 7 + 3 = 20
HP (+4 for rage): 14/24
Rounds of rage used: 2/6
Thran
|
He didn't get an action..so that's fine by me ;)
Thran makes it to the top and looks around to see if there are any enemies left standing
Casting daze on any of the archers if they survived the damage they just took, dc 13 will save
Climb check: 1d20 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 4 + 2 = 20 not sure I need a climb check for that last square, but just to be save
Atticus Atkinson
|
Finally at the top Atticus surveys the battlefield, seeing Mavin's halberd raining blood on the hilltop, he rushes to Tere's aid, who also seems to have things well in hand, as he goes he draws his longsword.
Double move and draw weapon
| GM Fuzzfoot |
Yah, they didn't survive that.
Mavin and Tere each put an archer down in the blink of an eye as Thran and Atticus jump into the clear path, ready to rumble.
I will report this a success. You now can either protect the caravan or rush into the vanguard to help there. You can also track down the leaders if you like, but it won't count for the overall goals.
It's a couple minutes to cleanup and get to the next encounter, if you want to do any healing or rebuffs during that time.
Thran
|
I'm fine with any of them..all though going after the leaders seems to be ..not the best choice. So just picking one unless someone has a different idea
"An army fights on it's stomach, let's go make sure the caravan is secure."

Clw: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
he then casts detect magic and goes over the orc bodies, searching them hoping to find anything of use.

How long is Mavin fatigued? More than a minute or two?
The most vulnerable part of the caravan travels near the base of a cliff where the sounds of ever-louder chanting echo from a shadowy cave.
These are 3 separate checks on the various enemies here.
These orcs, while formidable, appear to be more interested in making off with loot than they are with fighting.

Mavin catches her breath from the vicious orc attack, panting as Thran heals her using a wand and clapping him on the shoulder in thanks once her wounds are closed. She stows her halberd and pulls out her glaive as she approaches the rear of the caravan, but she moves slowly as she is still reeling from the earlier attack.

Tere wipes his blade clean on the last orc's cloak and sheathes it before following the others back to the caravan. There, he stops for just a second, shaking his head, at the strange sight before heading to the front of the caravan and looking for signs of what's carrying the barrels.
Perception check: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (11) + 8 = 19
How smoothly do the barrels seem to be moving? Are they bouncing up and down a little, as if being carried by a concealed creature, or are the floating at the same level?

The barrels look like they are being carried by invisible individuals, because they bounce as they go. They are pretty large, meaning the carriers are likely very strong.
The raiders are basic orcs - AC 13, HP 6, but they have orc ferocity, so 18 pts before they fall. They have scimitars rather than the normal falchions.
The brigand is a level 2 human warrior, AC 13.
The barrels go barreling up the hill. Two more raiders appear at the top of the path (bottom of the map).

Will save: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4
Thran is deeply effected by the hurtful words the mean orc said to him.
"Nooooooo, not the food!"
Thran responds by casting a large square of grease underneath the retreating food and the human
Casting grease, 10 foot square on the floor. Everyone in the area needs to make a DC 14 reflex save or fall prone (currently the human and the 2 barrels). It's there for the next 2 minutes and people moving through it can only do so at half speed and need to make an acrobatics check DC 10 or don't move (and if they fail by 5 or more they fall as well) and need to make a new reflex save or fall. If they don't move nothing happens to them
Thran then moves to stand between the newly advancing orcs as he draws his falchion
"You shall not pass!"
He then looks over his shoulder and gulps
"..uhmmm..guys....back me up here? If one of you can hold this bottleneck I can cover the path and we hopefully slow them down"
It's going to take all my lvl 1 spells..and another 2 rounds..but I think I can grease the entire length of the pass..one to the left and one to the right of the current one...might slow them down enough to buy us some time
Tere di Montefeltro

Unaffected by the spell, Tere approaches the spellcaster and hurls a javelin at it. The missile sails past its target, though.

I think Gaia (and perhaps others) has misinterpreted the map. The caravan is down hill from the raiders. So you have to climb up and then fire (which is fine - DC 10 climb)
Climb: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (16) + 1 = 17
