"I'm all for preserving this thing, but if it keeps attacking I'm in favor of just carving into tiny harmless pieces."
Thran draws his falchion and moves up to be near his comrades in arms. He get's ready to swing at the banner when it comes close enough to hit if it looks like it's coming in for another attack.

Gang should we use the aid token?
Atticus gapes as the banner flies up in the sky, Look at that! He gets ready to grab it if it comes his way.
readied grapple: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8
GM Fuzzfoot
Tolinath puts an arrow through the banner, leaving a small hole. As it is out of reach for everyone else, I will assume Mavin readies that attack.
The banner flaps around and comes over Thran (not within 5', but within 10'). This is close enough for Mavin's attack, and she makes a rather large cut in the cloth.
The banner snaps at Thran, wrapping around his neck, strangling him and trying to lift him off the ground.
Reach attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (17) + 5 = 22
Grab: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (17) + 9 = 26

Thran and the banner are now grappled.

Huh, I thought reach weapons could reach 2 squares diagonally. Maybe I'm reading the map wrong.
Mavin smirks as she hears the banner rip along her glaive's edge. "Guess it's just cloth. Only one way to deal with that!" She sidesteps to better see the banner opposite Atticus, raises her glaive, and swings at the construct again.
5-foot step to flank with Atticus using the glaive, then Power Attack. I moved my token to what looks like the correct square to do this, but if I messed up the map spacing again please just put my token in the adjacent spot to facilitate this action.
Attack (cold iron glaive, Power Attack, flank): 1d20 + 4 - 1 + 2 ⇒ (15) + 4 - 1 + 2 = 20
Damage (cold iron glaive, Power Attack, sneak attack): 1d10 + 4 + 3 + 1d6 ⇒ (5) + 4 + 3 + (5) = 17
GM Fuzzfoot
Mavin - I am not sure what you are referring to about reading the map, but if it was you first attack, I think you missed that it was also 10 feet above your heads. But now it is closer.
@Gaia - sure, climbing on the furniture is fair game. 2 movement squares, but that shouldn't be a problem.
Gaia jumps up on the display table and slashes the banner.
Thran struggles to breath, and uses a dagger to try and cut himself free. Unfortunately, being caught up in the sheet prevents him from effectively attacking. (-2 for being grappled)
Mavin then steps forward, intent on finishing this nonsense. She swings and cuts the banner in half, and it falls limp to the ground.
Combat over.

Ahh yes, I did miss that info. That explains my confusion. Thank you, GM!

Tere pokes the fallen banner with his sword, then looks around. "Thran, are you all right?" Without waiting for an answer he steps forward noiselessly (or nearly so), looking to the left where the great exhibit hall opens up for more animated hazards.
Atticus Atkinson

Shall we move on and see what else is amiss? Atticus begins moving toward the next exhibit hall to his left.
Thran

Thran sags on his knees and catches his breath
"I'm not doing that great...but I think I should be fine after I catch my breath...but let's keep going"
Thran pulls out a wand and uses it on himself before putting it back
Cure light wounds: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
15-4=11 non lethal damage left, I might go unconscious if I get hit again..but I should be fine for now
"Let's quickly do a scan of the immediate area in case it gives us some clue on what's going on and then continue our investigation"
Thran casts detect magic and takes a look around
If needed, taking 10 on perception for 10+3 = 13, with darkvision and detect magic for a quick scan
GM Fuzzfoot
As Atticus moves toward the next room, long shadows cast by ruined displays and broken furniture litter the floor. A humanoid-shaped figure made of shattered clockwork lies slumped over a bench. Above, an elaborately painted sign reads “Crusader’s Chronicles.”
Mavin stops him, and points out the angry looking dogs apparently guarding the exhibit.
They are more confused and afraid from the chaos around them. Nonetheless, they are aggressive.

no handle animal so diplomacy won't work..I could try intimidate..but that could be counter productive, no spells that would be of use ..so free styling it here..
Thran pulls out a few pieces of beef jerky from his rations and waves them in the air to draw the dogs attention (savely from behind someone else) before tossing them into a corner.
Let's say the corner where the yellow dog is now

I applaud your efforts to avoid combat, and actually, there was a way to do it, but none of you are even close to having the right skills (DC 18 Handle Animal, or DC 15 wild empaty check), so we might as well roll initiative.

Whatever they are doing outside seems to be working, quickly let's head up. Atticus urges them on.
GM Fuzzfoot
You head up the stairs, and find gears, glass, and chunks of wax litter the polished wood floor under a sign that proclaims “Scars of the Lich.” The corpse of a Kellid warrior lies in a pool of blood, her furs soaked through. A constant ticking and whirring sound echoes in this area.
An odd looking crusader comes rushing for you!
The proud crusader who is rushing toward you is not alive. He is made of wax, you see. Also, there a crenellated tower and chisel symbol encrusted on the back of both hands. This is the proof that you are against a golem made by Golemworks. Luckily for the party, it looks like Nigel didn’t add weapons on him.
Still, a slam of a one thousand pounds of wax hurts quite a lot.
