You have spent some long, mostly uneventful months on a ship, sailing south from the frosty Lands of the Linnorm Kings, although it is always a bit nerve-wracking until one has passed safely from the relatively-dangerous Arcadian Ocean, through the Hespereth Strait and beneath the remnants of the Arch of Aroden - both of which are currently under Chelaxian control - and into the relative safety of the Inner Sea.
With your home base of Absalom 'just around the corner', the ship makes dock in Almas, the large and bustling capital city of Andoran - a special thrill for many of you.
As it happens, new orders from the Pathfinder Society are waiting for you at the dock. You are to go straight to the immense Cathedral of Aroden, which has been converted into a Pathfinder Lodge by its current master, Venture-Captain Brackett. The apparently singularly-named Brackett, distinctively hawk-nosed, is a former swordsman of note, now middle-aged and the man responsible for converting the cathedral into a lodge.
This is where the new adventure begins!

Farg is back on board. Thanks for having me Zoog.
Just purchased the following:
For 2 PP MW +4ST composite Shortbow (costs 675 gp)
For 305 GP MW longspear.
For 1 GP 20 arrows.
Can anyone recommend any useful level 1 Bard Scrolls Farg should look to pick up?
Also debating whether I should burn two more PP on a Wand of Endure Elements.

Farg - I wouldn't burn the points for the wand unless you have a number of desert/winter scenarios up ahead.
Besides CLW, I am not really sure which wands are worth it. I asked as much on a messageboard and got some advice, and I think (depending on the character, of course), there are arguments to be made for mage armor, shield, protection from evil, magic missile, and, yes, endure elements.
As for scrolls Scroll of Comprehend Languages has helped me twice, one time getting the group the second PP. Diagnose Disease, too, just helped me heal a found NPC of their blindness, getting the group the second PP. It is really hard to tell what you are going to need, but I suggest stocking up on scrolls of 1st level things that seem useful, but probably not ones you are going to have prepped. I even bought Ream Magic (12.5 gp) since I don't generally have it prepped as a cantrip. (Of course, this may explain why I don't have as good of gear, generally, as other people.)
On another thread, I just found out about Oil of Daylight which, although one use and special purpose, might make sense if you get into a magical darkness situation, possibly even a Deeper Darkness situation (yes, both actually happen at Tier 1-2).
Storn - The Ghost Salt blanch is actually 200 gp all by itself. The d20pfdrd site has an error where it calls it 20 gp in one place, but it is 200 in the other places and in the source, The Pathfinder Society Field Guide.
I don't see other campaigns doing it, so you really don't need to 'publish' every purchase, although it is interesting. :)

He certainly has the most interesting inventory of anyone I've ever played with...I imagine him with a big white labcoat full of little pockets with vials and powders all over in them...and not quite remembering which is which.

I think we should request the goblins to join us from here on in for all our adventures. I'll buy the masterwork poo-flinger if it helps.

Shhh! Wuliem, no criticizing the scenario's contrived plots! Actually, Major Maldris and Brackett each called in some of the Prestige Points they earned on another scenario, so magically transporting you here. It goes both ways.
Edit: Well, more seriously, it is probably the only reason the PF cares about some random kidnapping - no lore or Pathfinders involved. But, you come into town (in my telling) and happen to be free and the Pathfinder Society sees a somewhat cynical opportunity to curry some favor with a noble.

I actually chose comprehend Language as a known spell for precisely that reason. First level bard spells sorta stink for low charisma dudes like Farg. then again Grease was a winner last game :)
One of these days I have to write a background for Farg...

Thanks, Farg!
I never played RuneQuest, although it goes back to my era. And Chaosium, too - I was a big Call of Cthulhu player.
I think gratuitous rolls could have a role here, too, though. I've debated about the best way to do some rolls, especially Diplomacy (Gather Information), and whether I should have more role-playing involved or whether it would just be more time consuming. I think sometimes the best way is to leave the fluff to the players, though: You found this out or remembered this, you can tell us how or why. I've heard that that is really the best way to do chases, for example, allowing the players a creative aspect in the otherwise very mechanical chase system. (It might just be my laziness, though!)

I think that I would like a class that blends Alchemist, Bard, and Inquisitor!
What about the investigator or what it was called from the advanced class guide playtest?

I have looked at the play test version, but i am really interested in the final product.
But yes, I am definitely interested in it!
It is based on the Bard and Alchemist classes,
so it does sound like what i like.

Originally it was supposed to be a cross over between alchemist and Rogue but they removed the Sneak Attack.
| Dorian 'Grey' |
Yes, you are right. I wanted Bard instead of Rogue.
I didn't like the sneak attack and I thought that the Bard
would be a better RP fit, along with the Inspiration that they were
going to be using.
Did they go that route?

I am thinking that Storn should use his diplomatic skills...lol...
to introduce ourselves to the Mayor while he is distracted by his meeting?
and if I am out of line by suggesting stuff like that, please let me know.

It can be tough being 'on the other side of the screen': What seems obvious to the GM (or the scenario designer) isn't necessarily going to be obvious to anyone else.
I think I might have got it because I watched a lot of mysteries growing up, and questions come to mind like, "What does she look like? What was she wearing? Who last saw her and when and where? Was her behavior any different recently? Had she been in communication with anyone recently?" (Although probably none of those would really help you along here significantly, which is why I can mention them.) (Although I gave a fair hint earlier ... which, again, may only be obvious to me.)
The servant(s) also can be good sources of information, not just obstacles, especially since you are not so sure about the Consul Mayor.
