Alie calls an audible, and pulls her vial of alchemist's fire, tossing it at the swarm.
Ranged touch 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9
Damage 1d6 ⇒ 4
Consumed: vial of alchemist's fire.

Curses! I knew it was too good to be true. Thanks for the heads up Killian. As lame as it is, this is the first character I've used that had 3rd level spells, so my experience with such things is pretty limited. Will you let me ret-con GM? If so, I'll chuck an alky fire at it instead.
Alch fire damage: 1d6 ⇒ 6

Yep, that's fine. You technically still need to hit them though.
alie's miss: 1d8 ⇒ 3
ranged touch: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9
oswin's miss: 1d8 ⇒ 4
Alie and Oswin both toss some alchemist's fire at the rats but miss their target. They still take splash but do not take the direct hit or catch fire.

Hey Forms, I was hoping you'd let me save my ranged touch roll from when I tried the spell. The modifier's the same and I got a 17. If you want to stick with your re-roll, though it's ok. Next time I'll be more clear in my posts.

Baern calls a bane against these rodent creatures and steps forward to slice one of the rats apart.
Bane!: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (20) + 7 = 27
damage: 1d6 + 2 + 2 + 2d6 ⇒ (4) + 2 + 2 + (3, 3) = 14
Confirm!: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (5) + 7 = 12
damage: 1d6 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 + 2 = 8 added damage

EndlessForms |

@Oswin: ah, ok-I forgot that you had already made an attack roll earlier. I'll use that instead, which will hit directly. I'll adjust the damage accordingly.
@Baern: I assume you meant animal-bane but don't forget that inquisitors are supposed to identify creatures first (with a KN check) before they can know what type of bane to put up. You as a player might know the right type of bane but the KN check is needed for the character to know what type of bane. Baern might have put up vermin-bane on accident without the KN check. You have to choose a creature type (from the ranger favored enemies list as the easiest reference).
Baern hits one of the rats so hard that it stops existing. No mess, no blood, no gore-it just pops out of existence at the might of Baern's blade.
@Kilian: not enough to worry about. Everything looks pretty damp, moldy, and somewhat rotten.

Thanks GM!
"Thanks for the warning Alie!
Oswin swings his sword at the rat directly in front of him.
I guess I wouldn't have my sword out since last time I threw the achemist fire. So I can 5' step back, and draw as part of moving forward, then attack. If we need to get technical.
Longsword: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (3) + 7 = 10

But ye can't 5 foot step and move in the same turn. Drawing a weapon doesn't provoke, though, so you should be fine.

Rather than try to reach past Oswin with his guisarme, Kilian steps around the cleric and smashes the dire rat with one heavily-armored fist.

Edited after I noticed Baern's post. If the dire rat is down, Kilian will instead move up and chop at the other rat with his guisarme. Add +2 to the roll to hit, and damage would be as follows:
Base: 5 + 7 = 12 points (from the 2d4 already rolled). Crit damage, if applicable:
Additional crit damage: 4d4 + 14 ⇒ (1, 2, 4, 2) + 14 = 23

With the fight over, you see emerging from their defensive cowering positions in the corners six apparent kidnap victims. One of them is unconscious but is identified as the missing Aspis Consortium agent named Kafar, one is an Imperial Navy guard, three are wealthy Cassomirites, and the last is the auctioneer.
The kidnap victims are hog-tied with thick rope and then tied to each other by the neck. Kafar is not tied to the others. His abdomen is exposed, bloody, and bruised.
The victims are able to tell you that the cult involved in these kidnappings recently removed several victims from the inn and took them to a ship called the Prancing Prince that’s moored on a dock on the other side of the shipyard. The auctioneer reveals that he heard one of the cultists saying, “Once Ismacco arrives, we’ll make a lot of money for the cause by selling these slaves into the Chelaxian market.” The auctioneer is certain he saw a Pathfinder with them, as one of the guards had his wayfinder.
The auctioneer tells you, “Your Pathfinder friend was guarded by some half-orcs—big, burly brutes. We don’t usually see their kind ’round here. Not sure where they was from, but they sure smelled bad—like they was stomping through the sewers before they came here.”

"Ismacco on the Prancing Prince...that's what we need to know.," Alie squeaks as she uses a Detect Magic cantrip, looking at the druid's gear.

EndlessForms |

Alie does not find anything magical. The druid had leather armor, heavy wooden shield, club, and 50 gp.
On to the Prancing Prince then? Anything else you want to do with the druid or the prisoners before you run off?

Kilian prods the druid with one booted foot. "I think the city guards can find something to do with him. If the rest of you are healthy, you can take him there. We have other things to do."

![]() |

"As much as it would please me to see this fiend brought to justice, you are correct, Kilian. We must attend to the matter of the kidnappers. Especially if they still have one of our own."
Onward!

EndlessForms |

Kafar begrudgingly thanks you and admits that he owes you one. He agrees to take the druid to the authorities and ensure the safety of the rest of the captives.
The sun has set, and streaks of red and orange lace the clouds as you approach the Prancing Prince.
A tri-masted galleon, the Prancing Prince appears to be in good condition and floats lazily against its mooring along a wide, crate- and barrel-filled dock. No one appears to be aboard her, however, and the standard watch typically found at the gangplank of a docked ship is nowhere to be seen. Atop her bowsprit is a gaudily painted wooden man that appears to be the exact likeness of the Grand Prince of Taldor, Stavian III, hands on his hips, a huge smile across his face, and his legs bent as though he were dancing a jig.
Map has been updated. It is moored to the dock so you can access it easily, even though the dock is not shown on the map.

![]() |

"I suppose we need to go introduce ourselves, don't we," Alie nervously smiles. "Don't worry though, nothing bad ever happens when a ship seems deserted."

![]() |

Kilian grins suddenly. "Of course not! Just in case, how many of you might have trouble swimming?" The Andoren looks around the area. Any wharf rats around who might have seen anything?

![]() |

Oswin's smile back at Alie is just as nervous.
"No, nothing bad...Well, not much for it but to baord her and see what we find."
Oswin carefully crosses over onto the ship's deck.
