Oh, by the way I just wanted to express interest in receiving PFS credit for this. My PFS number is 76446, but I haven't decided yet which character will receive the chronicle sheets. Is that okay with you, GM?
GM Derek W |
That would be just fine with me. Assuming we can finish the whole thing, you'll get 4 chronicle sheets. If anyone else is interested, just let me know your PFS number (which can wait until we finish if you'd prefer).
Emraeal Briskfury |
Yes, I'm also interested in the PFS credit. My number is 55162 but I'll have to wait until later to decide what character to put it on. I imagine you'll wait until we're done to hand them out.
Having a good time with this group so far. Can't wait to get deeper in the ruins and figure out what's going on. I own this one but purposefully didn't look through it in case I ever got the chance to play it so I'm glad to finally be playing. Thanks again, GM DW!
GM Derek W |
Happy Thanksgiving to those who were celebrating yesterday! We hosted the dinner at my house this year, so I had limited time for posting.
GM Derek W |
Sundays are tough for me, especially this month. Also, I need my work PC to really edit maps decently. So I'll get a new post in the morning tomorrow. Good news though - you're in the same room as my own Dragon's Demand character who's been in his game since very early September!
GM Derek W |
Good question - let's just use PFS rules for HP for now (half HD value rounded up). I really don't like rolling for it, and max HP probably is a bit much for the way this was designed.
Milloy Hearthstone |
Oh really? That sucks. Well, not really since I could always put them on a new character all at once. I'm going to a con tomorrow so I was thinking I could use the chronicle on someone who might need a boost to get into a higher-tier game or something. Doesn't matter though.
I guess we need to see how things pan out as far as earning the reward money and splitting up the loot? Just making sure before trying to purchase anything.
Jalthan Arvandru |
That's actually a very good question. I'd propose we focus on vital needs (a wand of CLW, the frontliner's heavy armor, some basic spells' scribing for the wizard) first, then split what remains afterwards among ourselves for more personal choices. How about it?
GM Derek W |
On the chronicles, I think Jalthan has the right of it. I could perhaps hand them out piecemeal, but this first segment is actually not part of the PFS sanctioned content. The NEXT dungeon is where you earn the first chronicle.
Kurth "the Fist" Chandler |
Kurth is leveled. Took Cleave as his fighter bonus feat, +1 hp for favored class bonus and put skill points into Intimidate and Perception.
I'm fine with spending some of the loot on group supplies, ie. wand of CLW, armor for the meat-shield (wait, that's me ...) spells, etc. It's probably worth grabbing a potion of CLW for each of the PCs that can't use the wand, to use on the cleric if he goes down.
If there's money beyond that, I'd like to pick up a masterwork longsword or maybe a battleaxe. Maybe a missile weapon, but I'm not as concerned about that if we're going to be underground clearing kobolds out of their warren.
GM Derek W |
I really need to get a loot spreadsheet together for both groups. I'm hoping to have time before the end of the week to help with that.
Milloy Hearthstone |
I'll be attending Space City Con/Winter in Galveston this weekend. The place has wi-fi so I might be able to post each day but I still wanted to give a heads-up while I thought of it.
I've leveled Milloy, not much to add except a couple of spells to the book. I'll update my stat block in a bit. Once the loot thing is figured out I'll look into that as well.
Kurth "the Fist" Chandler |
Crap, lost my post. Here goes again.
I kind of feel like we should hold onto the mithral daggers, at least for now. If we do that and can get our hands on a wand of CLW (assuming fully-charged for 750 gp) that leaves 298 gp each, which is just shy of the amount needed for MW chainmail or a MW weapon.
What kind of shops are there in town? Smithy? Alchemist? And is there a temple where we might look for a wand or potions?
GM Derek W |
Belhaim follows the rules for a small town's marketplace: 1,000 GP base value, 5,000 GP purchase limit. I'm not entirely sure what that means.
Therea re certain specific magical items listed for sale in the module. The town has two temples (Abadar and Shelyn), a tanner, a tinker's shop, and a smithy. You can have any mundane equipment made even if it's not "on the shelf" and minor magical items should not be impossibl eto acquire. A wand of a CL 1st spell counts as minor, so I'd say a wand of CLW is definitely something you could get.
Alice Weatherseed |
Kurth's plan sounds good to me. I'm saving up for a masterwork composite shortbow, so if someone wants to borrow my share, they are welcome to do so.
Alice will buy 20 cold iron arrows (2gp), 20 regular arrows (1gp), 20 blunt arrows (2gp), 10 durable alchemical silver arrows (30 gp), 10 torches (1sp), and 50 ft of silk rope (10gp).
Alsterro |
Character updated to level 2. Still have to spend my share of the loot, but otherwise good. Also, realized I had forgotten to spend favored class bonus, so spent those two points here on Knowledge (religion).
Jalthan Arvandru |
I completely agree with you on keeping the mithral daggers. There are worth a lot, but it isn't easy to find a silver weapon early on to bypass DR. Moreover, alchemical silver weapons have a -1 penalty on damage for piercing and slashing weapons, whereas mithral has not.
Let's buy the wand of cure light wounds (Alstero and me can both use it) first.
I actually have 51 gp, 9 sp left from starting gold and I could sell my studded leather armor for half price (12 gp, 5 sp), so that's a total of 64 gp, 4 sp. I'll buy 50 cold iron arrows (5 gp), so I have 59 gp left. If the shares are at 298 gp, I can buy my masterwork chain shirt (250 gp), and I'll have 107 gp, 4 sp left. Great!
51 gp, 9 sp - Leftover gold
+12 gp, 5 sp - Selling Studded leather armor
- 5 gp - Buying 50 cold iron arrows
+298 - Share of the loot
- 250 - Buying Masterwork chain shirt
-------
107 gp, 4 sp - Leftover gold
Milloy Hearthstone |
OK, kept it fairly simple.
Sold Backpack (gain 1 gp)
Buy MW Backpack (lose 50 gp)
Buy MW Darkwood Light Crossbow (375 gp)
Buy 20 Bolts (2 gp)
Should have 7.89 gp left.
GM Derek W |
Right, the 298 GP means that you're keeping the mithral daggers (probably a good idea) and buying a CLW wand for the team. The remaining GP of 1,490 is then split 5 ways for 298 GP each.
GM Derek W |
For simplicity's sake, we'll say the following about equipment. Mundane and masterwork items will be consdiered "always available". As a small town, Belhaim would have a cap in Minor magical items, but let's address that when we ge there. There are some specific items listed in various shops around town, and I'm not sure if they should count against this limit.
Kurth "the Fist" Chandler |
Ok, assuming I can get 25 gp (half purchase price) for my scale armor on the trade in, Kurth will buy a suit of masterwork chainmail.
298 gp
+25 gp trade-in
-300 gp new armor
Leaves me with 23 gp that I'll hold onto for now. I've made those updates and should be good to go.
GM Derek W |
Hey guys, I realized that you got some stuff off of Seserak.
You get 3 potions of cure moderate wounds and and addtional 225 GP! (in gems and platinum)
