Especially to us smaller folk, my dear dwarven friend. However, it is not something that is not easily overcome. Might take us a little longer to make the walk, is all.
Once the party reaches their destination, Hmm, so what is our play? Do we try to sneak into one of the towers?

Contilo Takes the wand from the fighter, uses it once to heal him and ands it back.
cure light wounds: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7
Afterwards he heads outside the cathedral, jumps up onto Hayhead for the first time with no difficulty. Ha! did you see that guys! i didn't even fall!
After their short journey to the "pyramid" he dismounts Hayhead.
well i can be very sneaky, so i could try to slip in. If all goes well i could even try to put some asleep and then you big fellers can come rush the place! I should be able to cast it again today.. Contilo drifts off in thought as he tries to remember the spell.

GM Derek W |

The collapsed towers look very similar to one another. Belvica can see only one door into the place, right behind the guard dog. She can also see that no more than two archers can target a given approach to the main tower, due to the center tower being higher.
There is precious little in the way of cover between the boulder and the towers, however - it's mostly loose stones, dirt and gravel.
You might be able to sneak in if someone distracts the guards.

Belvica walks over to the guard dog, smiling, and the dog starts to bark at her in a confused manner.

Wild Empathy 1d20 + 1 - 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 - 1 = 5

GM Derek W |

The dog snaps up the meat, but still is unsure what to make of Belvica. The two guard look over to see what's happening, and one shouts:
"Halt! Who are you, and what are you about?"
Their attention is somewhat diverted from the group. Contilo, you can try to sneak past, but you'll be at a -10 penalty to stealth due to there being no real cover - you just have to try to hurry by.

GM Derek W |

Guards' Perception check: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (7) - 1 = 6
The guards are completely oblivious the Contilo's movements, as he slips quietly by in all the commotion Belvica has caused.

Telurion approaches the guards, trying to remedy the situation - "Belvica! Where are you?" - he shouts - "Ah! There you are!"
Turning to the guards he continues - "Apologies for my friend here boys, the girl just can't keep her hands of animals - she has lived in the woods as a youngster or something like that... But she is as tough as nails, I've gotta admit it" - he finishes with a hearty laugh.
"In any case, we dug around in town and heard this was the place that two fellas like ourselves should come for employment - any opportunities for two strong weapon arms like ours?"
Bluff: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (18) + 4 = 22

GM Derek W |

Contilo sneaks up on the farther tower while Telurion and Belvica have the guards' attention.
Guard Will Save: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (11) - 1 = 10
The guard drops off to sleep!
Sorry, they're too far apart to get both.
The second guard sees his friend fall down, and a look of shock comes over his face. MAndorin senses that he might raise the alarm, and looses his arrow. It flies true! The second guard slumps over in a heap. So far, the guard on the far side climbs down from his post and begins to move around to see what the first guard was shouting about.
What now, guys?

Contilo Climbs up the tower closest to him up a ladder if possible if not he will try to scale the wall?

Once the third guard leaves his post, Loram moves casually out from behind the boulder and moves up to Belvica and Telurion.
Greetings, travelers! I was just passing by and saw this most interesting tower. Have you any idea of its provenance?
He stands with the two front-liners between himself and the tower, engaging them in small talk as he tries to watch the tower without being noticed.
Bluff, if needed: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (13) + 1 = 14

GM Derek W |

Contilo climbs the tower and shoots! His arrow grazes the guard, leavign a gash on his arm. He also hears the commotion up front. he shouts:
"Intruders! Nessian, get out here, and bring some help!
The main door bursts open and three tough-looking men come out.
Xavian sneaks up to where Cintilo had been earlier.

Nessian: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (11) + 1 = 12
War Hounders: 1d20 ⇒ 4
Belvica made the dog friendly enough to stay out of the fighting.
The order: Contilo, Loram, Insnare, Telurion, Mandorin, nessian, Xavian, war hounders x3
Map coming soon.

![]() |

Yeah, I think I need that map. At least we got Nessian's attention.

![]() |

I thought I had moved to where Contilo had gone but the map still has me behind the rock. Where should I be?

![]() |

Okay! Contilo is going to run and jump from the tower to land in the middle of the three bad guys!

He moves forward as possible, striking the first enemy in range.
Attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (18) + 6 = 24Damage: 1d8 + 6 ⇒ (5) + 6 = 11

GM Derek W |

Sorry again, Xavian - I'm not really out to get you! The map shows your correct location. I also moved Contilo and Mandorin. Insnare, I moved you partway, but I didn't want you yo get in Contilo's sleep spell.
Nessian Will Save: 1d20 ⇒ 14
War Hounder left: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (12) - 1 = 11
War Hounder right: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (18) - 1 = 17
Nessian and the thug on the left fall fast asleep. Belvica surges forward and slashes the War Hounder on the right. Her blow connects, leaving a deep gash in his chest. He falls down to the ground, motionless.
Telurion, would you like to re-direct, or coup-de-grace one of them?

GM Derek W |

Insnare, you attacked, but Contilo was first in the initiative count, so I applied his action 1st. Sorry if there was some confusion! I'm really trying to keep it al straight, but it hasn't been easy for some reason - this has been my toughest PBP game so far.

GM Derek W |

You are right in that all three in front of you are down. There is the enemy on the north side of one watchtower still up. Contilo hit him with an arrow for 1 damage. I will have Telurion move that way, if it's ok with him.

![]() |

Contilo jumps in the air and does a fist pump!
hoohaa!!! im glad i didn't die on that one!
so its just the last warhounder dude to go? and then we can interrogate nessian?

![]() |

I will double move with weapon drawn toward the last enemy. If I can Stealth: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (10) + 12 = 22 as my standard action I will, even if I must cut down my movement.

In all honesty, I believe you are doing a great job so far GM Derek - I have not felt confused in any way, and I believe the pace of the game is running quite smoothly.

GM Derek W |

The remaining War Hounder rushes towards Telurion and strikes!
Attack: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 2 = 18

![]() |

Ack, didn't realize we had people over that far. My next turn I will double move so I can attack the following round, if needed.

GM Derek W |

Yeah, sorry - since Telurion and Loram weren't trying to stealth they moved a lot faster. If you want, I can go back and apply a non-stealth double move or run this turn for you (at a table, you would have had the chance to see their actions first, of course)- you would at least get in bow range and be ready to attack at the start of next turn.

![]() |

Yeah, I didn't realize exactly where everyone was or where the baddie was after figuring out where I was myself, LOL. Let's split the difference and let me have to make a move action before I can turn the corner and fire an arrow next turn. That way I can use my action this turn to swap to the bow.

Insnare |

Belvica will play with the dog some more making sure noone appears out of nowhere to free them or Nessian gets all escape artisty..
She also checks them for gear and items.
"Hereszz boi, mese gives youse more treats... and throws anothe piece of venison to the dog.

GM Derek W |

War Hounder Will Save: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (17) - 1 = 16
The warrior flinches, but shakes off the effects of Loram's spell.
Telurion, thanks for the vote of confidence earlier! I hope you don't mind if I GMPC you for a round - you guys almost have this!
Telurion strikes with his longsword.
Attack: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (7) + 7 = 14
damage: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6
It was not his best blow, but it hits just hard enough to drop the thug to the ground, unconscious.
Combat is over! You have two bad guys tied up, one asleep on the watchtower and two more at negative HP.
Meanwhile, Belivca continues to make friends with the dog. He is becoming very happy, and enjoying all the attention and treats!
