Perception DC17: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (1) + 8 = 9 Dammit.
Reyn is distracted by the talk of a "secret weapon".
Kids, what is this "secret weapon"? We need to know so we can protect Snoodles.
Titus-33

Titus-33 steps up to the door and reviews the relatively crude 'trap' installed by the children. "I will attempt to disable this device," he states, pulling out a toolkit from his belt.
Engineering, fatigue: 1d20 + 8 - 1 ⇒ (20) + 8 - 1 = 27
| GM Darren |
With consummate skill, Titus disables the crude fire extinguisher trap so well spotted by Dyukela, saving Reynmal from an unwelcome foam party.
You leave the children and walk into the next room. This area consists of two adjoining chambers. Four large containment capsules fill the fore room, three of which hold stasis-locked objects, including a tablet, a strange curved sword, and an odd spiral of bioluminescent coral. A crack leaks fluid from the fourth capsule, which displays a foot-wide breach near the bottom, large enough for a creature to have escaped from. The aft room contains several desks, each hosting a deactivated computer terminal.

Unfortunately whatever has escaped has accidentally increased the area’s gravity to unpleasant levels. You all have an additional –4 armor check penalty, even if you are not wearing armor.
Their is a computer terminal in the south easter corner that could help reset gravity in the chamber DC16 Computer Check or you could try a ranged attack against the gravity module on the ceiling.
Skills you might want to use here are Culture/Perception (to check around the room) and Survival (to try and track the missing creature)

"Ooof. Someone please check the computer to try and reset the gravity in here, I'll keep overwatch." the Nuar finally manages to grit out as she unlimbers her beast of an assault cannon and makes a slight adjustment as the capacitors hum.

The crushing level of artificial gravity is uncomfortable to Titus-33 but doesn't affect his core systems significantly. Kiylee looks around but sees nothing of interest, clearly distracted by the crushing weight of the gravity. Meanwhile, Titus tries to reset the gravitometer but fails, and is presented on the screen with a talking paper clip, that says It looks like you are trying to reset gravity. Can I help?
Dyukela takes over and with a swift stroke of some key commands, the paper clip is gone for ever and gravity returns to normal, the pressure easing from your bodies instantly. It's then that Dyukela notices that the pot plant on the desk next to the monitor looked, for a split second, like it had moved.
Upon closer inspection, you realise that the pot plant isn't actually a plant at all, because it has small eyes that blink nervously as Dyukela stares at it.
What you have here, ladies and genetlmen, is a very nervous 'Shapeshifter', native to the Sun and capable of imitating anything in form. It's leaves shake in fear.
You've managed to reset gravity (Computers) and track the creature down (Perception). Dyukela has also rolled a successful survival skill so you can go ahead and handle the nervous pot plant ...

Reyn is careful to make no threatening moves, but tries to recall what he knows about shapeshifters.

Kiylee limbers her big gun and approaches the plant-shifter-entity VERY slowly.
"Hey. Hey now. It's okay. We're not here to hurt you. We're here to restore the power and find out what's going on. Please help us?"
She even throws in the 'puppy dog' eyes for extra points, ready to give the thing the horns if it doesn't go for the diplomatic overture.
Yeah, I think Kiylee is going to be going Steward Officer Archetype...

| GM Darren |
The shapeshifter notices Reynmal looking longingly at its leaves, and in a natural defence mechanism, the leaves start to turn from green to brown. The plant grows taller as the leaves start to stitch together. Hair starts to sprout from the object as it grows quicky from a 12 inch pot plan to a four, five and then 6 ft brown mass. Then, from the brown mass, a shape starts to appear. Human. Bearded. A smile.
Within a minute, you are all looking at an exact replica of Reynmal. It winks at Reynmal with a mischevious grin, and then the creature starts to retreat in size, and within a few seconds, is no more than a 6 inch blue slug, white stripes across it's body.
You quickly put the slug into a glass jar and seal the lid. The slug looks out at you, then slowly and harmlessly starts sliding around the canister.
The children come in to the room Thank you for not hurting him the girl says although I know we will be in biiiiig trouble with daddy
You radio up to the control room and within a few minutes engineers move back into E-Deck and begin to fix the damage done.
Fitch takes the jar Hmm...so much trouble for something so small. Still, I'll hand this over to our experts. Maybe we can learn more of this little creature's habits with a view to him not eating my ship anymore.
One of the engineers is Kieu Kein, reunited with his children Thank you for helping to find my children. Needless to say they will be grounded for the remainder of their natural life. Here, take this as a token of my gratitute
Kieu hands you a mk 1 ring of resistance.
Yeah, good job says Fitch/ You've earned this He hands you a credstick with 400 credits on
it.
By the way Fitch says I just got a call from Radaszam of the Acquisitives. Seems he has a bit of a problem he could use some help with. I told him I doubted it was as significant as having your ship eaten but you know these Vesk...it's all about them. Anyway, suggest you get over there.
Well done everyone. One last mission to go! Will update later today....

"Do you kids know how lucky you are? That thing could have eaten a hole in the hull and THEN what would have happened? When your parent gets here you apologize to them and you do whatever they tell you to." Kiylee admonishes the children, but keeping it just *out* of 'Mom' voice range -- she's not their parent but they need to learn to not let just any old thing out of containment -- things are in containment for a REASON.
There's a nod to Fitch and the engineers as they arrive.
"Well, at least they didn't turn into a moon beast or a bear or a stag or something. That could have been messy. And if it'd been a cat we'd probably never would have found them if they are good at hiding." the nuar offers off-handedly with a bit of a smile.
"You'll definitely want to look at the secondary and tertiary wiring subsets, please don't be pissed I really had to take some shortcuts to get the lights back on, and while it's stable and I have faith in it, it's going to be a gawdawful mess to untangle."
"Oh, I'm not so quick to judge, Fitch. I've had to do running around step-and-fetch-it quests for goblins in the past -- long story -- and even having to pay out the tail for them they generally were decent folks. I've heard that the radiation in space did something to their brains, though. All rabid, now, like the aquatic version."
Yayyy! New mission!

| GM Darren |
You return to Absalom and enjoy a relaxing evening. The next morning you make your way to the Nyori Pallasades, one of the more luxurious neighbourhoods in Absalom. On the way, you hear people whispering in deference about your exploits for the Starfinder Society.
You soon find yourself at the offices of Radaszam - the leader of the Acquisitives. The plain white doors of the office slide open to reveal a stark, dimly lit room. The chamber is bleak and expressionless in its emptiness—no vanities line its smooth black walls, and no signs of use mar its smooth black furniture.
The only occupants of the suite are a bug-eyed tadpole wriggling in a glowing blue aquarium and a reptilian vesk, stood at the tank, one scaly finger gently swirling the water around the tadpole. Without turning to greet you, he gestures to a number of chairs in front of a large onyx desk.
He remains stood by the tank Nothing quite captures the fragility of life like a tadpole, don't you think? Safety is of vital importance during the tadpole stage. They must survive this weakened state if they are to thrive.
His features are sharply illuminated by the light of the tank's green glass.
Eventually, he turns and sits down at his desk. The new graduates, he greets, in a low and pleasant voice. Your growing reputation precedes you. Good work so far. I am Radaszam, though since you are here, I should hope you already knew. I trust you are aware of our Society’s traditions, so I will cut to the point. I have a minor situation that needs resolution. One of our members, a human named Laboni, had a rather public altercation with a junk scavenger from the Spike.
He leans back and cracks his scaly fingers. You might be more familiar with the scavenger than I, actually; he is a ysoki who fancifully calls himself Ratrod. I am told he runs a popular racing competition that has, hmm, several hundreds of thousands of viewers on the station’s infosphere. For some reason, Laboni felt the need to tell him that any ‘real’ mechanic could easily beat the garbage
that Ratrod and his associates slap together. Now that Ratrod has issued an infosphere-wide demand that she race him and prove it, Laboni doubts she can back that claim up.
He stands and walks to the large floor to ceiling window overlooking the Nyori Pallasades
Embarrassing, isn’t it? Not really the sort of troublemaker that suits our Society and if she were a tadpole, her chances of survival would be slim. Perhaps she would be better suited to the bottom of a trash compactor... Well, we cannot afford to throw her out, not after so many Starfinders were lost in the Scoured Stars. Besides, we can’t let people think we are so weak that we can’t control our own members, or that we cannot stand up to a scrapyard junker.
He turns to survey you all. No, I would like you to assist Laboni in winning this race. Show our detractors that even the least of our Society is not someone to be trifled with.

"We all had to start somewhere. Whether we're calves learning at the sides of our parents, lizards fighting other over the shells we were hatched from, or carried by their parents for months -- we all need room to grow, learn, and make mistakes." Kiylee offers diplomatically, then smirks as she adjusts her stance a bit.
"So, unofficially, if this Ratrod takes ill before the race -- not saying this should be a thing, just trying to get a feel -- that'd just be par for the course, as it were?"
The Nuar glances over to the human with an upraised eyebrow. I wonder if this Ratrod got a nice laxative shortly before the race...

Heh. I know a guy who knows a guy could help us out with this. Might be best for everyone if that's all I say for now.
Where can we find this Laboni, and how much time do we have?
Titus-33

"I am able to provide technical and engineering skills to this endeavour," Titus-33 states, not having fully understood the point of the tadpole analogy.
| GM Darren |
No doubt yiu’ll find her at the racetrack. She won’t be difficult to spot. She will be the one sweating under the weight of her own stupidity the Vesk spits.
How you win the race...well...let’s just say that I value your creativity. Now go, time is not your friend. The race starts in a few hours and no doubt Laboni has an abomination of a racer
After a few pleasantries about the breeding habits of tadpoles and political manoeuvrings in Absalom, you depart and make your way to Ratrod’s racing circuit. It is a hollowed-out section of a mountain of spare parts in Botscrap, and the smell of ambition and diesel hangs heavy in the air. Already, the crowds are building.
You are met by a small drone that tells you to Press the Green Button on the drone's body for the rules if you want to know them.
Greetings fellow Petrolheads! This track has been specifically sanctioned by the ysoki-dominated Salvage Union that controls most of the yards.
The rules are simple. Racers and their pit crews are to build and improve their vehicles from the available scrap around the racetrack. Vehicles built at previous junkraces can return. Racers can fire upon other competitors during the race, but firing into the audience is grounds for immediate disqualification; racer weapons must be nonlethal and may affect only opponents’ vehicles. You may each take four actions before the race, which you may
use to improve Laboni’s vehicle or engage with the other racers. After this time, the race begins, although you can still assist Laboni from the sidelines. If you are new to the Absalom racing scene, you may ask any further questions of this drone.
The drone sighs... Why don't people just follow instructions?
The drone whirrs and a small compartment opens, revealing track-side access badges with your faces on and marking you as Laboni’s official pit crew.

"Reyn, do you think you could do a health and wellness check on Ratrod, make sure he's really up for this race?" Kiylee inquires as the party is heading to the circuit.
Her attention is drawn to all the different bits of tech and how they're put together, despite not being an engineer proper by most Absalom standards she does a bit of hobby work. She's kind of excited by the prospects.
"Hi, we're the folks Rad sent down to help you out! Whatcha got?"

You take your badges and make your way through the crowds, over the tannoy are the warbling sounds of Strawberry Machine Cake -it seems there is no escape.
Laboni is easy to spot, probably because she is the most stressed looking person in the crowd. Wearing paisley clothes and bright white lab coat, she looks like she is in her late teens but should be at home eating her mamma's cookin'. She couldn't look any more out of her depth. She looks around furtively, and spots Kiylee towering over most of the crowd. She makes her way over.
Are you...are you here to help? Radaszam said he was sending some people to take care of me. I'm desperately hoping that doesn't mean 'take care of me' in the more final sense of the phrase. I really have put my foot in in with this Ratrod . She looks at you all
I'm sorry. Where are my manners? I'm Laboni, Chief Instigator of this mess and I would be every so grateful if you could all help me. I didn't mean it to get this far but my mouth shot off as always and now I'm worried. I mean, have you SEEN the other racers' cars and they are still working on them even this close to the race. Oh gosh, this is really baadd.... She trails off, floundering in her thoughts.
Your next steps:
You can each take four actions before the race. What you choose to do is up to you, but if you are stuck for ideas then consider the following:
1. Laboni's vehicle is pretty basic, at the moment but the Botscrap scrapyard is a mine of potential. Computers, Engineering, Perception and Physical Science are skills you can use to find components to install on Laboni's racer. All are DC16.
Components you find can be used as below:
• The vehicle’s base speed increases by 5 feet.
• The vehicle gains a +1 Piloting modifier.
• The vehicle gains a +1 attack modifier.
• The vehicle gains a +2 bonus to its EAC.
• The vehicle gains a +2 bonus to its KAC.
• Install a basic energy weapon on the vehicle (imposes a
–4 base Piloting penalty on a hit).
• Install a basic kinetic weapon on the vehicle (imposes a
–4 base Piloting penalty on a hit).
• Upgrade a weapon to impose an additional –2 penalty to
enemy Piloting checks on a successful hit
2. Laboni isn't going up against Ratrod on her own. There are other racers involved and we all have strengths and weaknesses, right? Engineering and Sense Motive could help you check out the competition's vehicles and motives. A successful DC15 will allow you ask a question about the pilot or their vehicle
3. You are in Botscrap - not exactly the most ethical place in Absalom. Who says all is fair in love and war? DC20 Stealth Check and a DC 15 Engineering Check are needed to sabotage an opponents racer - to either reduce speed or take a -4 hit to EAC or KAC.
4. You can socialise with other pilots. [ooc] This might include trash talking, making alliances, getting tips etc. The check will depend upon what you want to do.
There are five other pilots in the competition: Lemgem, Nyizin, Orsis, Ratrod, and Velocity. Let me know which one you are targeting/talking to
Prerace Actions - You each getfour actions. Feel free to grab a burger and dance along to Strawberry Machine Cake as you decide amongst yourselves your strategy in the 'Discussion Bar' on site. Unfortuantely, Ratrod has an iron constitution and will take part in the race, even if he has to wear a diaper....
Titus-33
|
Titus-33 stands awkwardly in the bar as he sees patrons drinking, eating, and dancing around him. Uncomfortable with his surroundings he focuses on the task at hand. "I believe that I am most suited to modifying and tuning Laboni's vehicle," he says, the tone of his voice making it clear what he think's about the 'vehicle' in question. "I would be able to direct my efforts more appropriately if we had more intelligence about the vehicles of our competitors, however."
Dyukela

Dyukela takes a look at the junkyard to find parts to accelerate the vehicle.
Perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (12) + 8 = 20
Perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (11) + 8 = 19
Perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (3) + 8 = 11
Perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (20) + 8 = 28
He finds three parts that will speed up the vehicle.
"Here you go guys. With this we can speed up this vehicle."
Kiylee Boughdancer
|
"Oh, hey, it's prettier than the turbo-charged flying machine I put together back home in my spare time. That thing cost so much.... I'm glad we've got this nice and handy pile of spare parts to kitbash some things." Kiylee notes with a hint of excitement. She gives Laboni a look.
"Kid, and I don't mean that in the insulting way, if you're going to help, need you to focus on what you were working on before we showed up. If you can't do that, or you were at a complete loss, help me work on the handling. We can't have our driver dying because they have a rocket brick, right?"
Kiylee is looking for Speed, and hoping that Laboni can provide Handling. If Laboni cannot, then she'll move to adding Piloting skill to the vehicle. The Nuar does not anticipate being able to go to the other pit crews and talk to them, though she could be persuaded to do so.

Nice rolls so far folks!
So far, you have boosted speed considerably via Dyukela's fine efforts and piloting by +2 from Kiylee and Reynmal. Reynmal has also boosted the Kinetic and Energy shields.
Will wait for others to post but will bot rolls tonight (GMT 20:00 ish). Having run this scenario before, it can get a little slow if there are no alliances with other racers so what I suggest to make it more interactive is that I ask each of you, when the race starts, to roll for the other racers anyway, if that's okay with you all.
Titus-33
|
As the others bolt on new components Titus-33 gets to fine-tuning the control systems. The architecture is relatively crude but with a few adjustments it could be improved.
Engineering: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (1) + 8 = 9
His first attempt temporarily makes things worse as he shorts out a whole section of control circuitry.
Engineering: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (18) + 8 = 26
Replacing the fused parts with spares from his kit, he overclocks the control surface response pathways to act more quickly to pilot input.
+1 Piloting
Engineering: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (3) + 8 = 11
Engineering: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (12) + 8 = 20
The interface between Reyn's new laser and the racer's hardware is basic but effective, and it takes Titus-33 longer than he would like to follow the connections and maximise their efficiency by decreasing the refractory period between weapon activation and weapon firing.
+1 to attack with the laser.

The Nuar wanders over to check on Ratrod's racer, curious as to what makes the ysoki such a good racer. They'll be respectful of distances and won't jump into the actual pit-crew area (no need to start a pit-crew fight before the race, though the idea is TEMPTING).
Engineering(Ratrod's Racer): 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (10) + 5 = 15 Speed of Ratrod's Racer?
Engineering(Ratrod's Racer): 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (19) + 5 = 24 Any 'weak points' in the design that could be targeted directly? If not a valid question, then how much of a piloting boost does the racer provide?
She really gets into the questions, asking a LOT of in-depth ones and TOTALLY revealing her inner gear-head...
Engineering(Ratrod's Racer): 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 11
"Hey! You're from that Human's team! The heck? GET BACK TO YOUR FARM, space-cow! MOOOOOOO!!!!"
...because Kiylee is NOT attempting to start a fight here, she resists the urge to tell them to 'make her'.

"Well I can try my best." the rather observant vesk says outloud.
Rumaging through the parts he attempts to pick out a few good pieces of armored platting that havent degraded to much.
Physical Science: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10
But he fails to find the right types
"Thats not quite right." Eyeing a small electical shielding unit he sees if that can fit.
Physical Science: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9
But apparently he reversed the electrical current needed.
"Why must these complications be taking place."
The vesk yanks on another small slug thrower he finds in the scrap piles
Physical Science: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (14) + 5 = 19

I will attempt to make alliances with the other racers in an attempt to turn them against RatRod. I will try to persuade them or maybe work out a trade if necessary. These rolls are assuming diplomacy.
Lem Gem 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (9) + 5 = 14
Nyizin 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (20) + 5 = 25
Orsis 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10
Velocity 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (17) + 5 = 22
| GM Darren |
Titus, Gorjhect and Reynmal continue to get greasy and filthy tweaking the racer whilst Laboni paces around nervously.
Sarangari approaches LemGem, and after a friendly chat about the race ahead, Sarangari mentions that Laboni has managed to annoy Ratrod. Lemgem leans in to Sarangari's ear and whispers You should know that Ratrod has some advanced tech on his racer. He can't do it all the time, but I've seen him be hit by an energy weapon once and it actually made him go faster. You might want to be aware of that. Tell you what, I'm not so fussed about this race if I'm honest. My racer needs more work than I have time to give it, so I'll help you out. I won't try to beat Laboni and I'll just try to weaken the other racers ahead of her. I'm sick of Ratrod winning anyway
Once per round Ratrod may absorb a successful energy attack against him and convert the Piloting penalty imposed by the weapon into an equivalent Piloting bonus.
Nyzin has no intention of working with you, but over conversation, she reveals that ...you know, if you twist the magnemometer around twelve degrees and align it with the sub-level drive inertia mod you can get a big kick. You want to be careful though. Get it wrong and you'll end up crawling for the rest of the race. Good luck She returns to her engine tweaking
during the race you can double Laboni's speed for one round, but there is a 50% chance the engine could have an internal malfunction on the next round that permanently reduces the vehicle’s base speed by half. Might want to save that for toward the end!
Orsis has no interest in a converation with a Vesk. Velocity would be willing to talk, but she can see that you are all busy so just shrugs her shoulders and says See you at the start line, losers
Meanwhile, Kiylee manages to find out that Ratrod's racer moves at an impressive 55ft per minute, which is quick, but now matched by Laboni's racer with it's fuel-injection cut off and chrome plated rods, oh yeah.
Kiylee also discovers that Ratrod is a skilled pilot +8 piloting

With a squeal, Laboni hugs you all Thank you so much for all of your help. I'll need your help to pilot this thing, she says as she straps herself in See you at the finish line!
The racers line up, the horn fires again and the race is on! The racers all get a good start of the blocks and the crowd roars in anticipation.
You will control both Laboni and Lemgem vehicles and I'll switch it each round. For Round 1, Reynmal (Laboni) and Titus (Lemgem) will control.
LEMGEM STAT BLOCK

As the horn blows, Ratrod fires off a volley from his energy weapon straight at Laboni -it's clear he wants to make her suffer.
Ratrod vs Laboni: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (19) + 5 = 24

Her rounds spark off Velocity's rear, snapping parts off her control surfaces.
I'm unclear on the distinction between base speed and full speed.
I think that Piloting check means she moves 30ft (50ft base + 10ft bonus /2 = 30ft. Is that right GM?

Laboni launches off the starting line with a hard acceleration, firing the slug thrower at Ratrod as she goes.
Piloting: 1d20 + 5 - 4 ⇒ (3) + 5 - 4 = 4
Slug Thrower: 20 + 5 = 25
Her foot was too heavy on the accelerator, and the racer stalls! While she waits a moment for the fuel injector to clear, she takes careful aim and gets off a good shot at Ratrod.

@titus = Correect Lemgem moves half of her speed but it will be 300ft in total.
velocity piloting check: 1d20 + 6 - 4 ⇒ (17) + 6 - 4 = 19
Ratrod piloting check: 1d20 + 10 - 4 ⇒ (4) + 10 - 4 = 10
Orsis piloting check: 1d20 + 2 - 4 ⇒ (13) + 2 - 4 = 11
Nyizin piloting check: 1d20 + 6 - 4 ⇒ (3) + 6 - 4 = 5
Nyizin and Orsis are distracted by each other's blast. Nyizin stalls the engine, and is left on the starting line with Laboni! Meanwhile, Ratrod gets overexcited at seeing Laboni hit and hits the barriers, slowing him down but Velocity shows ice-cool reactions to the attack from Lemgem and streaks into a an early lead.
[ooc] Round Two! Map updated! Kiylee and Gorjhect, you are up for Laboni and Lemgem respectively!

"Easy now, don't gun it until it catches!" Kiylee shouts in encouragement at Laboni.
Piloting(Laboni): 1d20 + 5 - 4 ⇒ (18) + 5 - 4 = 19
Slug Thrower: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (10) + 5 = 15
In desperation Laboni lets off another round at Ratrod.

Kiylee's aim is good, and it strikes Ratrod left wheel. He glares over at Laboni, and furrows his Ysoki brow in anger.
Botting Gorject for this round, hope that's okay
Lemgem lets loose at Velocity with a blast from her Kinetic weapon
Lemgem attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (18) + 4 = 22
and strikes Velocity straight on the pillion. The crowd roars in excitement Folks we have a real race on our hands here! screams the overenthusiastic announcer.
Velocity vs Orsis : 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (4) + 7 = 11
Ratrod vs Velocity: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (19) + 5 = 24
Orsis vs Ratrod: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 11
Nyizin vs Lemgem: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (17) + 6 = 23
Meanwhile, the other racers take aim at their nearest threats. Ratrod strikes velocity and Nyizin takes out Lemgem with a well-aimed hit.
velocity piloting check: 1d20 + 6 - 8 ⇒ (13) + 6 - 8 = 11
Ratrod piloting check: 1d20 + 10 - 4 ⇒ (4) + 10 - 4 = 10
Orsis piloting check: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5
Nyizin piloting check: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (18) + 6 = 24
Lemgem piloting check: 1d20 + 2 - 4 ⇒ (8) + 2 - 4 = 6
lemgem: 1d4 ⇒ 3
Only Nyzin and Laboni manage to move full speed in this round! Map updated - Sarangari and Dyukela are up for Laboni and Lemgem respectively

Lemgem
"Now you will see!" Lemgem too quickly goes through the curve and gently slips and loses some speed.
piloting: 1d20 + 4 - 4 ⇒ (15) + 4 - 4 = 15
He tries to shoot Velocity.
to hit: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (19) + 4 = 23
I didn't include Modifiers +2 Piloting, –3 attack

Laboni
Looking over her shoulder, Laboni decides to fire at her nearest competitor by taking aim at Nyizin since Lemgem is firing at Velocity.
To hit 1d20 - 4 ⇒ (1) - 4 = -3
Piloting 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (20) + 5 = 25
I'm only adding the raw modifiers from the racer stat block.

Gorjhect cheers on lemgem as she lets loose a volly of fire at Veloctiy "Yeah! Go go ... Gorjhect steadies himself "Ahem" calmly he goes into a soft clap watching the race.
