Reynmal Oldscolm |
Yeah, sure, Croakie, I understand. Now you owe me two favors...yeah, right. Take it easy, man.
Reyn hangs up the connection and speaks to the party.
My connection fell through. We'll have to buy our copy from a store.
Okay, so maybe I didn't hear right...we're going to go kill a feather duster?
Kiylee Boughdancer |
"If getting the new release is anything like the winter holiday gift-buying rush, we should pack a lunch when we go, we could be in line a while." Kiylee offers cheerfully.
"Who knows, we may have to fight our way to the front of the line in *cough* glorious battle?" ...it's hard to tell if she's being serious or not.
"Feather stalker. The bigger cousin of the feather duster, not as keen on cleaning spaces, bigger on getting feathers into everything? If it's anything like a raptor it'll prob'ly try to pounce us? Spitballing here, if anyone REALLY knows what they're about please speak up." The Nuar can't hide her mirth on that response, though.
Sarangari Shadowsmash |
The Vesk speaks up from the back of the office, "Lets take care of the album. The feather stalker isn't going anywhere, but I'd hate to disappoint 2 faction heads by not securing the album." He himself was unfamiliar with this band but perhaps this would be an opportunity to learn a little more about the culture of Absalom Station through its arts.
Titus-33 |
"I do not know anything of this creature," Titus-33 replies, missing Kiylee's joke entirely.
"Where can we obtain the music from? Is there a specific retail outlet we need to visit?" he asks, unfamiliar with the artist in question.

Apolgies for the delay folks. Was ill then travelling with poor internet
You make your way to the store where the Strawberry Machine Cake promo is in full swing. Hordes of squealing teenagers from all races line the streets around the store. From what you can see, there are a mix of races, a few Shirren, Ysoki and a whole bunch of human teenagers humming along. The entrance to the store is manned by two burly vesk who are keeping the giddy teenagers in order and letting a few in at a time. There is a coffee bar across the road.
You estimate that queuing will take around 6 hours to queue. Who wants to queue up?
Reynmal Oldscolm |
Reyn looks with dismay at the long, long, looooong line.
I'll wait in it if that's what's needed. Isn't there a better way?
Gorjhect the Watcher |
"I guess this is what we need to do." The Vesk Mystic looks about and stands in line. "Am I doing it right? Just stand like this?" Gorjhect stands holding his Battle staff which is also hold him up.
Kiylee Boughdancer |
I think I've SEEN this quest before! Well, let's see if it works!
The Nuar heads over to the coffee shop before the line or the security people and orders up two large cups of coffee before bringing them over to the guards.
"It looks like you could really use this." Kiylee begins, holding the cups out to the two guards hopefully, with a ten-credit slip held against each cup as she presents the cups as an improvised 'holder'.
If the guards accept, she'll give a meaningful glance towards the front of the line and a smile. If they don't, then she will implement Operation: Bursting Bladder when she takes her place at the end of the queue.
GM Darren |
Aside from Kiylee you all join the back of the snaking queue. People are jostling for positions as basic decency threatens to boil over into teenage rage. You wonder about your life choices.
DC 12 Fort Save or you suffer from fatigue
A few spotty human girls spot a young Shirren trying to edge her way forward with her father and a scuffle breaks out. The human girls start to push and shove at the Shirren whose father retaliates. The scuffling group push into you
DC 12 Reflex save or take 1d4 of bludgeoning damage
The larger of the two vesks glares at Kiylee as she approches with the two coffees. I don’t drink coffee and even if I did, it wouldn’t do you any favours. Get to the back of the queue!
The other vesk isn’t so quick to dismiss and takes the coffee
Kiylee Boughdancer |
"Fair." Kiylee says with a nod to the larger of the two, heading to the back of the queue. She's even further back than the rest of the team because of her diplomatic effort.
-10 credits
I could take her, but that'd just be bad for everyone. She's probably also NOT getting paid nearly enough for this but it's her job. I feel you, Gorn-woman!
...it's worse than launch day picking up the next expansion. *THAT* wait was only an hour or two. At least they seem to have better hygiene?
I couldn't hit that Diplomacy number in my dreams... :P
She passes the time sharpening the end of her tactical pike while humming one of the *painfully* catchy sub-bass-line of one of the featured songs -- not the actual song itself. That is, after she finishes her cup of coffee.
"It'll take someone far more diplomatic than me to get in there, or someone who knows someone. No. Don't start a fire. It won't help and it's a bad idea for everyone." the Nuar snarks a bit as she moves along in line.
"Also don't say that you have a bomb -- that's definitely a non-starter."
Guessing I missed the brawl due to trying to get in and failing?

Fortitude DC12: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6
Gah. We've moved 3 feet in the last hour. I'm gonna die of old age before I get to the front.
Fatigued.
Reflex DC12: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (19) + 5 = 24
Hey, hey, whoa, whoa! Cool down. We're all trying to wait peacefully here.
Reyn manages to avoid the scuffle, but the endless waiting wears on him.
Gorjhect the Watcher |
Fort: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7
Gorjhect succumbs to the long wait and he can be seen heavily leaning on his Battle staff. "Ugh, is it over yet?" the Vesk priest struggles to stand in line further.
Ref: 1d20 ⇒ 10
His apparent fatigue has gotten the better of him further as he tries to move out of the scuffle yet her went left when he should of went right.
NL Bludgeoning: 1d4 ⇒ 2
Titus-33 |
Joining the queue with the others, Titus-33 entertains himself by reviewing the newswire then beginning a level 4 diagnostic of his exocortex's core processors. He stands stock still and completely silently, moving only when the queue does.
Fort save vs DC 12: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7
The diagnostic uses up more energy than expected, and combined with the long tedious wait Titus-33 feels drained. He notices a brewing brawl as some Shirren try to jump the queue. He is considering the reasons that the Shirrens might have for breaking the rules when he gets caught up in the agitation and buffeted around.
Reflex save vs DC 12, fatigued: 1d20 + 5 - 1 ⇒ (1) + 5 - 1 = 5
Caught in the middle of the trouble, Titus-33 is unable to defend himself from the hordes of screaming fans.
Damage: 1d4 ⇒ 4
GM Darren |
After what seems like an interminable wait, you manage to get to the front of the queue. The two Vesk smile at Kiylee as they allow you, and a few spotty Ysoki teenagers into the store.
You make your way to the counter where an exhausted looking Kasathian looks like she's thinking that not even four arms have been enough today. Bless the Pact Worlds, is this day not over yet? Right, how many copies you after?
Sarangari Shadowsmash |
Catching up on my saves
Fort 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6
Ref 1d20 ⇒ 6
Damage 1d4 ⇒ 4
The Vesk does not weather the line very well. Although he doesn't complain, it is evident that the fight took more out of him than originally suggested. As the doors open, he is knocked around as the line surges forward in the ensuing chaos.
Reynmal Oldscolm |
Sure, why not? I got a buddy who's a big fan, but she's offworld right now. Probably has a copy lined up already, but who knows?
Kiylee Boughdancer |
The Nuar will give a polite nod and smile to the two guards as she makes her way in. Man, I hope I never get stuck on a detail like yours...
"Two, please. One in the Comprehensive Collector's Edition, and a Basic Collector's Edition, please." Kiylee says with an eager grin, having had similar experiences in her past.
GM Darren |
That’ll be fifty creds each the exhausted Kasathaian says to no-one in particular, whilst a filler track blares over the tannoy. You can’t buy my love with berries/‘Cos you’re not extraordinary/But I’m not blessed with looks so hey just/Try again and I’ll be ready . The Ysoki teens bop along at the top of their voices.
Assuming that you decide to buy the albums, you have a few hours until you make your way to the warehouse and you are free to explore the few shops dotted around the megastore to replenish any equipment that you might need
You then make you way to Downlow to the abandoned warehouse. A bone moon shines down on a well-constructed but not-very-loved warehouse, the doors to which have been broken open and swing lightly in the early evening breeze, creaking with menace. There are no lights that you can see from the outside and you’ve probably got an hour or two of dying sunlight before the shadows take the warehouse.
You gather on the outside of the warehouse. I will reveal map shortly....just need to switch to laptop as can’t do it on the ipad
Gorjhect the Watcher |
Getting to the Kasathaian. "I'll Take one please. Maybe I should get one for our friend Ziggy too. What do all of you think?
Titus-33 |
"I did not realise that music of this sort was so popular," Titus-33 muses on seeing that all of his colleagues had purchased a copy of the album. "I will purchase a copy for myself and review the music at a later date." He hands over his cred stick for the deduction before making his exit, feeling substantially worse for wear.
A brief period of rest and an intake of nutripaste perk Titus-33 up slightly and he makes his way to the warehouse with the others.
I'll take 10 minutes and spend an RP to get my SP back.
"We should reconnoitre the area before we do anything else," he suggests.
GM Darren |
You file into the warehouse. Map revealed . The ceiling runs about 30 ft above you and there is a catwalk that runs about 15 feet above the floor. A large pit in the middle of the warehouse drops about 10ft.
You see several crates, approximately 5 feet tall, and several cylindrical containers crate-filled scaffolding are 10 feet tall. DC10 Athletics Check if you want to climb . On the far side there is a set of scaffolding with a bunch of crates on.
Somewhere in here...a feather stalker waits.
Location: 1d4 ⇒ 3
There is scattered junk on the floor which looks like it will be tricky to cross treat as an area
of difficult terrain. You see the faint glow of blue lights on the catwalk but they are not bright enough to illuminate the area, and the entire warehouse is bathed in dim light.
1 - Battery
2 - Flare
3 - Flashlight
4 - Medpatch
Reynmal Oldscolm |
Reyn engages his infrared sensors and moves quietly up the catwalk to the left, readying his pistol as he goes.
Double move, treating the stairs as Difficult Terrain.
Stealth: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (14) + 8 = 22
Perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (20) + 8 = 28
GM Darren |
Reymal moves silently through the warehouse but senses nothing other than the light fall of rain and a distant rumble of thunder. Motes of dust, undisturbed for years, float through the stale air as you move.
Kiylee Boughdancer |
"Well, there's two ways to handle this. Like our human friend over there--" Kiylee begins, moving forward with purpose with tactical pike extended and ready. "--or grabbing the bull by the horns. Why don't the rest of you spread out on the flank between us to provide cover?"
Single move but stealthily so double cost, right?
Perception: 1d20 ⇒ 19
Stealth(Hahahahaha Right!): 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (20) - 1 = 19
...wut just happened? That's unpossible! :P
Titus-33 |
Titus-33 readies his laser rifle, the whine of charging capacitors barely audible. He pulls the stock into his shoulder and moves forward between the cylindrical containers and the crates. He moves carefully, using his exocortex multi-spectral visual systems to pierce the darkness, looking for evidence of the creature as he walks as quietly as he can.
Single stealthy move between the crates. As an androind I have darkvision and low-light vision.
Perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (13) + 8 = 21
Stealth: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (18) + 3 = 21
GM Darren |
Titus moves slowly and purposefully between the crates, the faint hum of the charging capacitors barely breaking the quiet. Meanwhile Kiylee moves quietly toward the centre of the warehouse, a menacing 10ft hole to her right. The quiet continues
Gorjhect the Watcher |
Gorjhect moves into the Warehouse wearily checking to see about the Room if anything is out of the ordinary. "Lest we be careful danger is sure to arise."
Perception: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (16) + 3 = 19
GM Darren |
Sarangari and Gorject stride into the warehouse. Up ahead they see the faint glow from Titus's rifle and the faint outline of Kiylee but the warehouse remains silent.
The catwalk is up ahead on the left, and in the far corner, beyond the pit, is a scaffolded area that looks like it has crates on the top.
Reynmal Oldscolm |
Reyn moves farther down the catwalk.
Titus-33 |
Titus-33 continues to tread carefully and quietly through the crates, coming to a stop near the edge of the hole in the floor. He realigns his visual systems to try to penetrate the darkness of the pit.
Stealth, fatigued: 1d20 + 3 - 1 ⇒ (18) + 3 - 1 = 20
Perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (3) + 8 = 11
GM Darren |
Sarangari throws the rock into the pit, and after a few seconds it hits the bottom with a dull thud, reverberating an echo around the warehouse that soon blends to silence.
Titus peers over, his visual systems penetrating the darkness better than any natural vision. The pit is empty.
Meanwhile, Reynmal sneaks along the catwalk, whilst the wind creaks the windows next to him. The broken chain rattles gently on the warehouse door in the wind before returning to rest.
Silence again, fills the air....
Kiylee Boughdancer |
Kiylee squints and then glances up at Reynal. "We need more elevation to this..." she grunts then starts running to jump onto the forklift's broad back area and then up to the platform above it. "HHHHNNNYYYYAHHHHH"
Athletics(Running Jump, SPD greater than 35'): 1d20 + 5 + 4 ⇒ (14) + 5 + 4 = 23

Arrows and note may be removed after the results have been applied.
GM Darren |
Kiylee bounds onto the platform, the sound of clanging metal reverberating around the warehouse, followed immediately by a high pitched Crraaaaawwwwwghhhhhh! as the Feather Stalker emerges from behind one of the crates. It rises to it's feet, plumes raised in agitation and hisses into the night air

Feather Stalker Init: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8

Titus Init: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10

Dyukela Init: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (11) + 1 = 12
Kiylee, Gorjhect and Sarangari may act!
Kiylee Boughdancer |
The warrior in Kiylee wants her to just jump into the middle of things and slash up the creature.
However, the Nuar does have some intelligence and experience in these things, and attempts to take the 'long way around' to prevent blocking line of fire to the target.
"RAAAAARRRRR!!!" she bellows as she spins her pike around and jabs protectively from the action.
Tactical Pike(Fight Defensively: +2 to AC until next turn): 1d20 + 4 - 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 - 4 = 5
Damage: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10
Yes, she more than likely missed... ...
Sarangari Shadowsmash |
I'm taking a double move to get lined up for combat next round. Let me know if I need more than one athletics check.
Athletics 1d20 + 9 - 1 ⇒ (8) + 9 - 1 = 16
The vesk runs around the "south" side of the platform and quickly pulls himself up using the crates to cover his climb.
Gorjhect the Watcher |
Gorjhect moves up into the warehouse ready to take a shot at the feathery beast.
Double move
GM Darren |
The feather stalker shrieks in rage as Kiylee jabs at its body with her pike, but the creature is quick and swats away the pike as if it wasn’t there. The creature rises to full height, spreading it’s wings in a show of defiance, some 8 feet in span.
The creature is so focused on Kiylee that it doesn’t notice Sarangari creeping up the south side of the platform.
Reynmal , TItus and Dyukela are up whilst the creature curses its dice roll :-)
