Sarangari misses by a country mile, taking out a track-side seller of hot dogs. Popcorn flies into the air.
Whoa folks! Did ya see that! exclaims the race host
Dyukela has more luck, striking Velocity on the tailpipe. Ratrod takes aim at Laboni but misses and curses the air. Nyizin tries also to take out Velocity and hits her front wheel. she retaliates at Nyizin and strikes him hard on the back axle. Orsis takes a shot across at Lemgem who he sees as his nearest rider, scoring a direct hit
Velocity with incredible skill manages to stay on with two hits! the tannoy screams. Ratrod also manages to stay on track but Orsis and Nyizin are both left slowed. Lemgem and Laboni also move at full speed! And we have a new leader folks and...and...it's Laboni!

Velocity calculates the vectors for the remaining length of the race and determines that the best option is to eliminate the two entities that are any sort of a threat to their mechanical dominance, namely Laboni and Ratrod.
However, as is often the luck in these races, both shots miss by a wide margin.

Orsis decides that the best way to win is to be the only racer left intact. He opens fire with his frag cannon at Nyizin then fires his laser at Lemgem, hoping to make headway past the other two stragglers.
Both his shots go wide so he concentrates on winning the race the old fashioned way.
Frustration is clearly limiting his skills and Orsis continues to limp along.
Lemgem and Velocity both hit the barriers at the side of the track, and Orsis has an equal nightmare. Lemgem moves at half-speed as does Orsis
Velocity moves a full 400ft
Meanwhile Ratrod takes aim at Laboni
He misses! but Laboni still only moves at half speed this round
Ratrod, with great skill, manages to avoid all fire and full speed.
Nyizin successfully slams into Ratrod with one weapon but misses with the other Curse you you freak! Ratrod screams.
He fires at Laboni
and ensures that she doesn't move at all this round.
Unfortunately, in all the excitement he doesn't see the pothole in the track which sends a judder through his bike and he slows to half pace but still enough to overtake Laboni Ha! Not so confident now are you! he screams on the way past.
Aargh curse your Shirren bones! Ratrod screams as the double blast from Dyukela knocks him sideways
He manages to stay upright, but hits a huge pothole and is slowed for the round
he's not finished though, letting off a volley at Velocity first
He hits!

Lemgen hits a switch, injecting a dangerous but volatile fuel component into her engines, and
the component fails to ignite. Her engines glow a bright green for several seconds, but she gains no additional speed.
She tries again to fire at the new leader, Velocity.

It's confusing that there's two sets of modifiers for the same tasks -- which ones are the correct ones to use? I see different other players using both it seems. I think I've been using the wrong ones. Using the other ones this round and going forward. I hope GM is able to keep track of all this. :-)

Still at the back and still fuming about his situation, Orsis again unleashes everything he has at Laboni.
His frustration has clearly got the better of him and his shots go very wide, sparking off the barrier at the edge of the track.
He refocuses and tries to boost his way into the race.
Finally finding his groove Orsis nails the perfect line across a corner and makes ground on the other racers.
Cursing his position in the race, Ratrod takes aim at Laboni and fires. If I can't win, then I'll make sure that wretch doesn't he thinks
As he does so, he is slammed sideways by Kiylee's accurate blast
The blast is enough to send Ratrod into the hoardings, slowing him down. He screams in rage as the crowd start chanting Laboni's name.

His palms begin to sweat and his mouth begins to dry up Gorjhect says "Almost got this in the bag. Just need to not choke." hoping this is the last time he will ever have to pilot something Gorjhect pushes the throttle in one last time...
...the vesk is shocked at the outcome of his piloting skills. "Is that it? Did we win?!?" excitement can be heard in his voice as he exclaims
Seeing Laboni speed toward the finishing line, Ratrod closes his eyes in calm, switches off his targeting computer, and takes aim at the exhaust pipe on the back of her racer. Somewhere, in his head, a voice says Use the...sorry.. never mind.
It's not enough, and the projectile fires wide
Ratrod races forward, but it's only good enough to come in joint third, as Laboni races over the line. The crowd erupts We have a winner and a nneeeeeewwwwwwwwwwwww chaaaaammmmppion screams the energetic Ysoki on the tannoy. and it's Laboni! All around the stadium, Laboni's name is chanted. Ratrod comes to a stop and slams his helmet down on the floor and watches it bounce away into the dirt.
Shortly after the trophy has been presented, you all walk over and find Laboni at the bar, and overhear her conversation with Ratrod ...and I know I shouldn't have said what I said. I actually think you're a great driver and it'd be a shame if Botscrap lost you. This place needs personalities like you. Please, let me buy you a drink
Ratrod looks her up and down before softening a little I suppose it was a good race, and if I quit now then I'll never get my trophy back. Look after it for me - I'll be taking it back from you next month! For now, I'm going to make some improvements to my racer, so don't get cocky kid Where have I heard that before? he thinks as he walks away
Laboni bounds over, hugging you all.
Thank you so much for all of your help! I couldn't have done it without you and I've definitely learned my lesson. Here, this is for you. Ratrod said I deserved it, but really, it should go to you guys. I got my pride back, that's enough for me.
And that is that folks! The Commencement is complete. I'd like to thank you all for your patience over the last few weeks. It's been a pleasure to GM this for you and I've learned a lot over the journey. I'll be doing the chronicle sheets over the next day but please check them carefully as it's the first time I've done them for a group and I won't be offended if you point out errors. For now, relax at the bar, enjoy an ale,and rejoice in your victory. You are truly the saviour of the Starfinders and many adventures await you

Kiylee bellows in victory as Laboni crosses the finish line, thankful that no one was hurt and also copying the telemetry from the human's racer for possible ideas for her own racer should the Nuar decide to build one in the future.
However, when she sees the unattended helmet from the Ysoki, she carefully walks over and picks it up, and hands it to the diminutive racer.
"It'd be kinda hard to race without this. You seemed to have dropped it -- just check to make sure that the cushioning matrix wasn't shattered by accident, okay?" Be humble in victory, gracious in defeat.
The bovine entity is cautious with Laboni, so as not to crush the new champion with a full-on hug. "There is an old Human saying I heard once -- 'If you write a check, make sure your ass can cash it'.
I don't know why one would need a mule to handle something like that, but... just be smart and careful, okay? Enjoy the warm glow of victory, and realize tomorrow much like Ratrod you'll have to get back to work on improvements to your racer."
"Good job, folks, but I think we've missed a Human tradition here in celebration...." The Nuar's mien takes on an air of mischief as one of the celebratory beverages is shaken up thorougly and sprayed in general over folks! Example

The vesk hangs back for a bit allowing the team to revel in the honor of their success. He quietly takes stock of his personal triumphs and failures, glad to contribute in the glory of combat but also glad he had capable teammates who were able to make up for his short comings outside of battle. He would have to find some way to grow in that rather large and diverse department in hopes of furthering the Society's cause.
He comes around to each of his fellow starfinders, including Laboni, and bids them all farewell and thanks them for their aid.

"Now that was an accelerating experience." the punny vesk looks at the group with an open maw waiting for the laughter that may never come and then finds some composure. "Alright it seems we have completed out missions adequatley. It was a pleasure to work with each of you, including you youngling." Gorjehct motions to Laboni at the end of his statement. "See you all around." Going up to the Nuar Gorjhect offers a see you later with a "Well Met Dawntreader. I suppose We may meet sooner than you think at the Emerald City bathed in the purple of the Paizoians."
