Grimjaw finally gets a blow in and gives a nice slice to the goblin commander. Ursion comes in to finish the job, slicing into the goblin and his mount to kill them both with one mighty swing.
With the battle over the noble takes a moment to steady himself before standing up, shaking off his fear and dusting off his lavish clothes as he quaintly strolls over to the party. Throwing up his arms is cheer "My friends! What marvelous work you made of those foul beasts!" He kicks one in the head for effect. "I can't thank you enough for your aid. You know, of course, had I been better prepared I would have easily dealt with these vile creatures, but alas with the festivities I did not have the proper equipment with me." He puffs up to try, in a false demonstration of his own prowess. Smiling he continues "I shall be very certain to reward your heroic deeds. Let me put you up at the Rusty Dragon inn. I'll send word that you are to have the accommodations you desire and I'll cover your expenses there. Perhaps on the morrow we can meet to talk further, as tonight I am very exhausted." He continues his smile, extending his arm to shake on it.

"Thank you, sir. I, for one, will be delighted to accept your offer. Before we retire, however, there are four sleeping goblins tied up by the chapel who need some...questioning...I intend to find out from where these nasty creatures came, how they were able to infiltrate the town, and who put them up to it."
Rhanloi checks each of the goblin corpses for clues (and loot!) - here and back in the town square.

I also have Knowledge Arcana and Nature if those are useful...
Ursion Ratarion
Ursion pulls a scrap of cloth from some hidden pocket and wipes down his blade before returning it to it's sheath. The young paladin takes a moment with his head lowered, uttering words too quiet for anyone but himself to hear.
Looking up, he says "Thanks, sir, I will also be glad to accept your offer. I am new in town and don't have permanent lodging as of yet, and I am glad to extend my search by another day."
Turning to the wizard, he continues "I would also like to question those goblins. This can't be allowed to stand."
GM Dak
Aldern shakes with the dwarf and grins, "Ah, no I'm not in charge around here. I actually hail from Magnimar, but I visit Sandpoint often and I certainly couldn't miss the opening ceremony of the new cathedral. I would suggest you seek out the Sheriff, or perhaps the Mayor if you have such concerns."
He nods to the others and waits for any other words before walking toward the White Deer Inn.
Rhanloi

"Well, here's what I managed to scrounge off the little greenies...Didn't bother pulling the studded leather armor off of them, though. Ewww!"
Rhanloi displays several small, junky short swords piecemealed together to make their 'dogslicers', a shortbow, a whip, and a nicer quality (but still small-sized) pole-arm that looks like a halberd with an enlarged hook opposite the blade.
GM Dak
The sounds of battle have all but stopped. You hear the common sounds of after battle, some crying, people cursing and efforts to clean up or ensure there are no further threats. Most citizens have gone indoors with a few guardsman taking care of tasks. With a break from combat you notice you were not the only ones fighting as there is damage and goblin corpses all around town. You seemed to have caught the initial attack and provided time for most of the civilians to seek shelter with little to no harm. The four goblins you captured are still tied up where you left them.

Rhanloi squats down in front of the four goblins, ensures they are awake, and speaks to them in theor own language...
Rhanloi will wait a moment to let their situation sink in, then continue in their gutteral tongue.
GM Dak
Ursion Ratarion
Ursion observes the questioning and does his best to keep his face grim as Rhanloi gestures to the group of men while speaking in the goblins' strange tongue. When they seem finished, he addresses the wizard.
"Any useful information?" he says with a hint of doubt in his voice.
Rhanloi
|
"These are useless - meat shields at best. The only useful, but the most troublesome, bit of information they revealed is the mastermind is one of us...a 'longshank.'"
"I recommend we turn these over to the local guard to do with them as they will. Now, I would like to bath and eat and then spend some time in reflection."
Rhanloi
|
"Oh - and would any of you like to have any of the weapons from the goblins? If not, I will attempt to sell them tomorrow for whatever coin I can get for them."
Rhanloi will then collect all of his gear and go to the Rusty Dragon Inn, partake in the meal and a glass (or two) of Varisian wine or ale, find his room and get cleaned up. For the next hour or so he will attempt to discern what the two potions are that he took from the goblin commander. He will cast Identify (+10) and then use his Spellcraft skill (+10) to determine the properties of the potions. 1d20 + 10 + 10 ⇒ (13) + 10 + 10 = 33
GM Dak
Heading back to the inn you find a warm welcome from the inn keeper Ameiko Kaijitsu who greets you. "Well done all! I welcome you to the Rusty Dragon Inn. Aldern sent word he will cover your bills so order so food and drink and enjoy yourselves. I glad you were here to assist in the towns defense against those retched greenskins. Would you prefer individual rooms or a private communal room?"
Ursion Ratarion
Ursion steps forward and smiles at the Tian woman.
"Thank you for the welcome. I wasn't expecting to see action today but I am glad these capable men were around as well. Please... I'll have the special and the house ale." he says over the noise of his stomach complaining. "As for a room, I'm sure you're quite full tonight, so whatever is easiest for you.."
Rhanloi

At some point during the day, Rhanloi will take the weapons he retrieved from the goblins and try to sell them.

When he sees the rest of the group in the morning, he says, "Good morning, gents. I trust you slept well? I found these 2 potions on the goblin commander yesterday, but wanted to identify them for us. They are both potions that will cure minor injuries. (Cure Light Wounds) I think we need to discuss our discovery with the sheriff - and then hunt down the person who planned this awful raid. Any other ideas?"
Prepared spells for today are:
Cantrips - Daze, Detect Magic, Read Magic
1st lvl - Mage Armor, Sleep
Zariel Cailean

If these goblins were following someone's orders, especially a longshank's orders, we should definitely track them down. Unfortunately, the square is probably to frequently traveled to track the goblins back to where they came from. Hopefully when we talk to the sheriff he'll have some idea of where we can start.
GM Dak
*CORRECTION* One of the potions is a Cure Moderate, sorry misread when I told Rhanloi what it was :)
Rhanloi
|
"Good news, my friends! I was able to sell the goblins' stuff - here's your share of the profits. Also, I have one potion of Cure Light Wounds for one of you - I will hold on to the other potion I found."
Rhanloi hands each of you 65gp and sets a potion bottle on the table. "Are we supposed to meet with Aldern? Has anyone seen him since yesterday?"
GM Dak
Inquiring about Aldern the halfling woman notes that a messanger did stop by to provide you with a message. It reads "My friends, I shall be by around noon and we can talk further. I look forward to seeing you then!" it is signed Aldern Foxglove. It is currently around 9AM.

Getting details on the town you're directed to the Town Hall as the likely place to find the Mayor and Sheriff after such an ordeal. Heading there you are brought to the Mayors office and asked to wait a moment as the Sheriff and the Mayor are talking. The assistant sticks his head into the room and lets them know you are here. He quickly comes to get you and bring you into the room.
Mayor Deverin motions for you to come in, Sheriff Hemlock stands to the side of her desk as you enter. The Mayor address you "Ah, the glorious heroes! Please come in, we were actually just discussing you as well as the events of last night." She waits to see what you have to say before continuing.
Ursion Ratarion
Ursion steps forward to greet the city officials. He extends his hand to first the Mayor and then the Sheriff. "Ma'am... Sir. Nice to meet you both. I am Ursion. We've come to see how we can help Sandpoint meet this sudden threat."
Rhanloi

"Greetings, honored ones. As you may have heard, we were able to capture and question four of the goblins who attacked your fine town yesterday. They were, unfortunately, rather dim-witted foot soldiers and knew little of the reasoning or planning behind the attack. The one piece of information we were able to extract from them, though, is particularly troublesome and the subject of our visit this morning. When asked who planned this attack and helped them covertly enter the town, they remarked it was a 'longshanks' like us."
Rhanloi pauses a moment to allow this information to sink in with the Mayor and Sheriff. "We were able to determine that some of the goblins were hidden inside one of the merchant carts around the square, but have not attempted to determine the owner of the cart nor if they had any knowledge of the stow-aways. That, I believe, is best left to you, sheriff." Rhanloi will then describe the cart, where it was located in the square, and the details of the hidden compartment as best as he can. He then looks around the room at this colleagues to see if they have any other observations or facts to add...
Being a researcher, Rhanloi watches the two of them closely as he relates his story, attempting to determine if their reactions are honest or if they are hiding something.
Grimjaw Stonebrow
"And one other matter I need to bring to your attention. Ogres destroyed a village a few days to the north of here. They're on the move, and Sandpoint could be a target."
Also curious of the reactions of the mayor and sheriff, Grimjaw tries to pay close attention.
Sense Motive: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (14) + 1 = 15
Archeak
Archeak snorted while the others had gone who knows where he had followed a suspicious blur, or thats what he could make of it. He had learned one thing in Nidal a true feint was a series of feints, not just one or two. The question was where did the third feint come into play?
GM Dak
The sheriff and mayor nod as they listen, seemingly already aware of the information you are providing, until the dwarf speaks up. The sheriff looks to the mayor who addresses you "Well, we had similar luck with the goblins we've captured. Thank you for your efforts in delving deeper into this. I agree it is most grave news that someone from town may have helped orchestrate this incident and we would gladly accept your assistance in tracking down who that may be. Furthermore, there has been a disturbance at the cemetery that the sheriff here would like your assistance with. I'll let him speak more to that, but in the meantime, I'm interested to hear more about this Ogre threat you speak of master dwarf."
GM Dak
The mayor looks at the dwarf for a moment. "Grim news indeed. Sheriff, please dispatch a few guards to patrol the area around town and alert them to this potential threat." She turns back to the others "I have some other matters to attend to for the moment. I'll leave you in the capable hands of our sheriff for the time being. See what you can find about these goblins, and thank you again!" Unless otherwise stopped, she will gather a few papers and head out the doors. Leaving you with sheriff Hemlock. He waits a moment for the mayor to leave and for anything the heroes have to say.
GM Dak
Sheriff Hemlock nods to Rhanloi "Well, as the mayor said there has been an incident at the cemetery. Father Zantus sought me out this morning when he noticed the door to our former priest Ezakien Tobyn’s vault adjar. I'd like you to accompany me to the scene so we can see what has happened. Worse case, I imagine a goblin got stuck in there after last nights raid, but we'll see."

So, which one of you all is carrying the Potion of Cure Light Wounds? I kept the Potion of Cure Moderate Wounds for the group...
Rhanloi gathers all of his equipment, but leaves his small collection of rare books behind in the care of the Rusty Dragon's proprietor. Since he had previously marked them with his Arcane Mark, Rhanloi knows he would be able to find them even if the innkeeper turned out to be not so trustworthy...
So with his light crossbow hanging from his belt, his quarterstaff in his hand, and an assortment of scroll cases, belt pouches, and a canvas backpack filled with various spell components and his spell book, Rhanloi heads to the cemetary.
He is suprised to find Archeak slumped against the church walls, wiping his brow and loking as if he had run all night. Perhaps he had stepped into a faery circle and cursed to dance until the moon set and sun rose? He would have to ask later...
Ursion Ratarion
Ursion waits outside the Dragon while the wizard and others retrieve their gear, his face clearing showing the worry he is feeling about the possibly desecration of the cemetary. This town has been through so much, they do not need another tragedy right now...
When the rest of the men emerge, the group heads to the cemetary.
Intentionally left the potion for someone else, as of level 2 I'll have my LoH...
