Gabriel will strike a dramatic pose, point at the goblins and in his deep voice shout:
"Foul creatures!"
before moving over to the base of the central stage.
Inspire Courage (Su): +1 morale bonus on saving throws against charm and fear effects and a +1 competence bonus on attack and weapon damage rolls.
Ioxeia Androdaixa |
Depending on how Gallus covers the last bit of space, Ioxeia will take a shot at the closest goblin with the least cover, or, in the absence of a clear shot, close and stab in melee.
Fortunately, it's the same modifier in either case. Spear attack: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4, and (fingers crossed)damage: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6. Piffle.
Chimaeryus |
Chimaeryus will let fly a magic missle at whichever goblin has the most cover, that is still visible.
1d4 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7
Gallus Domitus |
Gallus will rush past the cart. Are we supposed to move our characters ourselves? I did hope that is ok? And swings his glaive across his body attempting to cut the goblin in half.
Galive Attack: 1d20 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 4 + 1 = 81d10 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 4 + 1 = 12
Unfortunately the creature dodges underneath his swing.
GM Dak |
Gallus rushes forward swinging at one of the goblins who dodges the blow. Ioxeia closes and jabs with her spear, the lucky goblin avoiding the attack by hiding behind the cart. Gabriel strikes a pose that boosts everyone morale. Thorfinn moves into position for the oncoming goblin attack. Chimaeryus lets a magic missile of force fly to hit a goblin killing it in one blow.
The goblins move to attack. The one casts a spell on Gallus. Will save DC12
The other goblin moves up to strike at Gallus while one attacks Ioxeia.

Round 4
>Gallus, Ioxiea, Gabriel, Throfinn, Chimaeryus, Goblins
Ioxeia Androdaixa |
Hearing one of the little monsters answer Chimaeryus’ spell with its own, Ioxeia tries to figure it out, hoping it’s not so dangerous that she should try to overrun her current foe to focus on the caster. Spellcraft: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (4) + 7 = 11 As the goblin in front of her takes advantage of the opening left by her miss, Ioxeia desperately parries its low blow, just catching it on her dependable shield. She stabs back in turn, Attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (18) + 3 = 21 with Gabriel’s performance factored in, and hopefully damage: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6.
Ha! If that's good enough to take the little beggar down, Ioxeia will spend her move action to cautiously close with the spell-casting goblin.
Gabriel Cailean |
[b]"Stop these filthy creatures from despoiling our festival.
Gabriel will maintain his inspire courage, move up to the edge of the platform and take a shot at the goblin in front of the casting goblin.
Crossbow: 1d20 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 3 + 1 = 7
Damage: 1d10 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8
6/8 Bardic Rounds Remain.
Thorfinn Feigrsson |
The dwarf closes the distance to the goblin Gallus struck [ooc]or the one behind it, if Gallus killed his) and swings at it; his blade cleaves only air, though, as the goblin parries the blow. Thorfinn growls and shakes his head in disgust.
Attack on nearest goblin, incl. hatred and inspire courage: 1d20 + 4 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 4 + 1 + 1 = 8
Chimaeryus |
Chimaeryus moves 5 feet & launches another magic missile, this time at the goblin on top of the rock pile.
1d4 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6
Why am I helping these strangers?

GM Dak |
Gallus seems uneffected by whatever the goblin did, and he returns a swing at the goblin tearing into him and dropping him to the ground. Ioxeia skewers a goblin with her spear, kicking it's lifeless corpse off the tip of her spear. Gabriel takes a shot with his crossbow, but to little effect as it crunches into the wagon rather than the goblin. Thorfinn swings again, only to miss the little greenskin menace. Chimaeryus launches another magic missile which strikes it's foe, but doesn't quite put an end to him.
The goblin takes a shot with his bow before dropping it and pulling out a dogslicer.
Attack Chim: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 6 = 10
Damage: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
The arrow flies wide and strikes the ground before hitting Chimaeryus.
Round 4
>Gallus, Ioxiea, Gabriel, Throfinn, Chimaeryus, Goblins
Chimaeryus |
If the goblin still stands by the time Chimaeryus requires an action, he will cast acid splash at the little bugger.
Ranged Touch (Dazzled) 1d20 + 2 - 1 ⇒ (7) + 2 - 1 = 8
Acid Damage 1d3 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4
Thorfinn Feigrsson |
Thorfinn closes with the final goblin and swings on it, but glances off its armor. "Next time, you little maggot."
Attack on last goblin, including hatred and inspire courage: 1d20 + 4 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 4 + 1 + 1 = 14
Ioxeia Androdaixa |
Ioxeia skewers a goblin with her spear, kicking it's lifeless corpse off the tip of her spear.
Thanks for that last bit, Master Dak... it's a vivid image that's helping me get into the spirit of things.
Behind her mask, her lips curl slightly in a mix of grim satisfaction and revulsion at the bloody scent of death. Coming around from behind the wagon, Ioxeia leads carefully with her shield side before striking out with her spear. Attack, with inspiration: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9Damage, ditto: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8Well, I rather doubt that will do it. It would be a nice blow if it hit - I guess Ioxeia's overthinking it, as opposed to "do or do not" and all that. She'll have to work on her warrior zen. :)
Gallus Domitus |

Gallus seeing his goblin drop quickly circles around behind the last goblin cutting off any chance of escape. Do not let them get away!Swinging his glaive high into the air then down in a blow intended to sever the goblin in two. Luckily for the goblin it dodges to the side in time to avoid the vicious blow the glaive biting into the ground where it stood only moments before.
Standard Attack: 1d20 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 4 + 1 = 101d10 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 4 + 1 = 6

Standard Attack: 1d20 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (17) + 4 + 1 = 221d10 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 4 + 1 = 12
Standard Attack: 1d20 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (11) + 4 + 1 = 161d10 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 4 + 1 = 13
Standard Attack: 1d20 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 4 + 1 = 91d10 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 4 + 1 = 6
GM Dak |
Gallus moves around to try and cut off any route of escape, lunging at the goblin with his weapon to no effect. Ioxeia strikes with her spear but, similarly, is unable to hit the wriggly goblin. Gabriel continues to cheer on his compatriots in an attempt to aid their resolve. Thorfinn swings and misses. Chim lets a glob of acid spring forth at the goblin, but it also sizzles in the dirt as it misses the intended target. The goblin strikes out at the nearest foe, which happens to be Thorfinn.
Attack: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 2 = 20
Damage: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
It slices at Thorfinn's arm drawing blood.
Round 5
>Gallus, Ioxiea, Gabriel, Throfinn, Chimaeryus, Goblins
Ioxeia Androdaixa |
Let's end this, Ioxeia thinks, seeing the group move in. Trying to correct for her miss, she jabs quickly, hoping to find an opening.
Attack: 1d20 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (18) + 2 + 1 = 21 and damage: 1d6 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 2 + 1 = 8. Take that!
That should help!
Gabriel Cailean |
Assuming the goblin is still up after Ioxeia's blow Gabriel will continue to inspire courage and take a shot.
Atk: 1d20 + 3 + 1 - 4 - 4 ⇒ (20) + 3 + 1 - 4 - 4 = 16
Damage: 1d10 + 1 ⇒ (10) + 1 = 11
Confirm 1d20 + 3 + 1 - 4 - 4 ⇒ (4) + 3 + 1 - 4 - 4 = 0
4/8 Inspire Courage Rounds
Chimaeryus |
Chimaeryus stops and looks around, his eyes squinting due to the excessive rays of the sun.
His voice is harsh and gutteral, yet strangely melodic at the same time.
"What could possess such a small group of goblins to attack such a large gathering of... people?"
Gallus Domitus |
Gallus Seeing the other goblins fall lifts his Glaive in a poerful overhand chop intended to split the creature in two. Bringing the blade down with all his force he feel sit bite deep into the goblin.
Standard Attack: 1d20 + 4 + 1 - 1 ⇒ (16) + 4 + 1 - 1 = 201d10 + 4 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 4 + 1 + 2 = 8
Whatever the reason the ones won't be coming back again
GM Dak |
Gallus brings down his glaive on the goblin nearly killing it in one blow, but as the creature hunches over bloody and nearly dead Ioxeia has no problems stabbing it through the heart to finish what Gallus started.
After dealing with the last goblin in sight the sound of battles around town have mainly stopped. However moments after finishing binding the creatures you hear a loud scream coming from the north west.
Ioxeia Androdaixa |
“Likewise,” Ioxeia answers, her eyes avoiding the bloody ruin between her and Gallus as she pulls her spear from the dead goblin’s shattered breastbone. She looks around the square as she searches for a more expansive reply in the Common tongue, but a scream interrupts her planned introduction. As the other fighters eagerly set off to investigate, Ioxeia falls in a half pace behind with a glance towards Chimaeryus. “My thanks for your magic…”
She breaks off, realizing that she’s not noticed any spell armour on him or other obvious means of protection, and takes a moment to see how everyone’s doing. Seeing the mailed man and dwarf ahead, she calls out, “Master Dwarf, your arm's been touched – is it at all serious? Everyone else?”
Of course, Ioxeia doesn’t mean to mock, but the melee was clearly not the place for introductions, and there are too many people about for “Hey, you!” to be effective.
She picks up the discussion as to the goblins’ recklessness in attacking the interestingly motley group. “An exciting day indeed. I worry, though, that if these were so bold to attack us, they must have been confident enough in their numbers, at least. I wonder how it goes through the town?”
Chimaeryus |
Experiment 39 was the product of a masked elf, I wonder if she is related?
Chimaeryus suddenly realizes that one of the goblins was a caster and immediately looks through it's effects.
GM Dak |
Just east of the White Deer, near Sandpoint’s north gate, a goblin mounted on a goblin dog has bravely attacked a noble and his hunting dog. The noble cowers behind a rain barrel where he calls for help, while his dog fights against the goblin. As you arrive on the scene, you're just in time to see the goblin kill the dog with his horsechopper. The dog crashes dying to the ground as the goblin's kin (who were themselves cowering nearby as the dog was handled) throw up a cheer and emerge from hiding.
The goblins are still distracted by their kill, and as they turn their attention to the noble, you have an opportunity to attack with surprise.
Surprise Round
All players get one standard or move action *Note* For a surprise round charge is considered a standard action
Ioxeia Androdaixa |
As the group approaches the site of the standoff just in time to see things turn to the goblins’ temporary advantage, Ioxeia weighs her options, her observations flashing through her head. 1) The mounted one is likely the greatest threat. (Question: Why do goblins hate dogs so much?) 2) I doubt I can easily reach the others before they notice us.
As Thorfinn charges the scrum of unmounted goblins, launching a vicious swing from his axe, Ioxeia immediately adjusts her assessment of the situation. Steeling herself to fend off a possible defensive swing, she slips quickly through the gap that opens between Gallus and Thorfinn to confront the mounted goblin, a prayer in Elven rising unbidden to her lips, "Guiding Hand, steady my aim, and I will offer you fragrant incense."
I've moved my token on Roll20 - risky business, I know, but the positioning precluded a charge. Here’s hoping that “no guts, no glory” doesn’t spill Ioxeia’s.
Gallus Domitus |
I assuming that the surprise round occurs in the same Initiative order as before so that Ioxeia moves after my charge? If not then Gallus just moves up to his current location.
Seeing the Goblin rider distracted by his recent victory Gallus lowers his glaive like a lance and charges the beast. The five pound sharpened mass of steal rips into the goblins back leaving a horrendous wound. Stinking maggots!! You are no better then the dirt on my shoes!
Charge Attack: 1d20 + 4 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 4 + 1 + 2 = 211d10 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (10) + 4 + 1 = 15
Attack: 1d20 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (12) + 4 + 1 = 171d10 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 4 + 1 = 7
Attack: 1d20 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 4 + 1 = 91d10 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (10) + 4 + 1 = 15
Attack: 1d20 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (17) + 4 + 1 = 221d10 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 4 + 1 = 9
Current AC is 14
GM Dak |
Thorfinn charges in and takes a chunk out of a goblin, not enough to take him off his feet however. Gallus charges at the mounted goblin, slicing through him and into his dog, dropping them both in one brutal attack. Ioxeia moves up to engage in the battle. Gabriel starts an incantation, while Chimaeryus heads his instructions and blocks off any path further into the town.
Chimaeryus: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7
Ioxiea: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 2 = 16
Gabriel: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (10) + 6 = 16
Gallus: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (19) + 3 = 22
Thorfinn: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (13) + 3 = 16
Goblins: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 = 9
Round 1
Gallus, Ioxiea, Gabriel, Thorfinn, Goblins, Chimaeryus
Ioxeia Androdaixa |
Alternatively, goddess, if it please you, send a giant to do the work for me, Ioxeia ruefully concludes in silence, impressed by Gallus’ brutally effective blow. As he presses the attack, she keeps an eye open for where she might lend her support.
I’m posting out of initiative order, I know, but my modifiers are the same, so here’s a tentative plan. Assuming Gallus follows through to the nearest goblin, Ioxeia will throw her spear at the furthest goblin (I marked it with a blue cross on the map) if she still has a clear shot, otherwise she’ll close to melee. Either way, here's for her Attack: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 2 = 20 anddamage: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8.
Gallus Domitus |
Gallus wrenches the blade of the glaive from the goblins corpse blood splattered across his chest and face from the vicious blow. Turning towards the remaining goblins Gallus steps forward and levels his glaive in a horizontal swing attempting to hit both of the goblins nearest him. Unfortunately his hand slips in the blood ooating the shaft of his glaive and he misses both badly.Who is next to meet my blade? I promise a swift and painful death!!
Standard Attack: 1d20 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 4 + 1 = 121d10 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 4 + 1 = 7
Cleave Attack if necessary: 1d20 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 4 + 1 = 61d10 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (10) + 4 + 1 = 15
Standard Attack: 1d20 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 4 + 1 = 131d10 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 4 + 1 = 11
Standard Attack: 1d20 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (12) + 4 + 1 = 171d10 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 4 + 1 = 8
Standard Attack: 1d20 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (20) + 4 + 1 = 251d10 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (10) + 4 + 1 = 15
GM Dak |
Gallus attempts to slice through the two nearest goblins, but they escape his swing. Ioxeia move up to the closest goblin, lunging her spear through it's abdomen and pulling it back out with goblin guts attached as the goblin drops to the ground.
Round 1
Gallus, Ioxiea, >Gabriel, Thorfinn, Goblins, Chimaeryus
Gabriel Cailean |
Gabriel will finish casting sleep. Centered on the purple X, will save DC 16
Gabriel will then move around to the noble and reassure him.
"Are you okay sir? I think we got these."
A sleep spell causes a magical slumber to come upon 4 HD of creatures. Creatures with the fewest HD are affected first. Among creatures with equal HD, those who are closest to the spell's point of origin are affected first. HD that are not sufficient to affect a creature are wasted. Sleeping creatures are helpless. Slapping or wounding awakens an affected creature, but normal noise does not. Awakening a creature is a standard action (an application of the aid another action). Sleep does not target unconscious creatures, constructs, or undead creatures.
