I am hitting the road to Hilton Head today. It was postponed a couple of days thanks to Hurricane Florence. I still expect to be on once or twice a day (Hilton Head, while an island, does probably have wi-fi). Just letting you know that it won't be my usual checking 3 or 4 times a day. I'll be back Saturday night.
Nils the Ashen |
This is my take on the plan :
Nils will disguise himself as Barco, a tiefling drunk disguise he uses for gathering information, and act as the bait. Based on what we know about the location of the attacks I'm thinking we pick an area a short distance from a tavern/bar and Nils will stumble about the area...pass out...drink...repeat for a time. Never leaving the general vacinity. The party can take up positions nearby.
As far as prep goes, perhaps some shopping (CI arrows?), prepare some blinds to help the party hide.
What do you guys think?
What time of the day is it?
Mawl Primal |
Great ideas all....er except the arrows, I have to just hit them. I have silver but not cold iron. I will just have to hope I hit them hard enough. What type of save does one need against their bite? Fort? Does Horillo have a Fort buff that he can give out or are there inexpensive scrolls/potions?
Horillo |
Not sure what time it is currently?
Like the idea, was going through my head too. We should do a reccy of the area first to get good places to hide. If it's day now, it's as good a time as any. Then do the shopping, or we split the party into shopping detail and reccy detail, (very military ... lol).
Would like to buy some cold iron arrows, as we seem to be coming up against a fair few beasties that are in this place.
A few Detect evil spells might give us a bit of a warning, 10 mins per level.... expensive but might be worth it... not guaranteed, don't want to wait a day to regain spells.
The only thing I can think to help fort saves is resistance or guidance spells, 0-level. If we think they use poison, then we could buy potions of anti-toxin. There is Pick Your poison which might be effective, but the has quite a heavy cost.
There is a spell called ironbeard, which might be useful.. I+1AC and cold iron armour spikes.
Nothing at 1st level really helps with fort/will saves other than the normal bless, or Swallow Your Fear
Personally think Bless is always a goody, and Ironbeard might also be useful.
If these things go invisible, anything that would help like Fairy Fire
might be of use or even bags of flour....

Ok, I will go with Nils and recon the area, finding good hiding places for us. Probably the others go shopping. Saniel for the face, Horillo and Sorix for the knowledge of things arcane and divine. Just a suggestion.
Mawl Primal |
If you feel it's necessary to hit, please purchase a cold iron weapon for me. I have the money and will give it to you. I am set up for 2H reach so no point in getting the same. I would think a 1H. I don't have access to hero labs where I am. I think if I'm going with a 1H then I could use a small shield? I'm not sure if it's worth it. I would accept some advice and then go with it. Maybe just a 2H CI weapon would save me some money and if it doesn't have anything special...so be it.

Honestly I don't know if I'd bother at this point yet Mawl. You're going to hit hard enough to bypass most DR. That said extra damage is extra damage so it depends on funds and how many weapons you feel like carrying.
Mawl Primal |
Ok,I was thinking the same. I have enough weapons at the moment and I thought that when I hit the last time I could bypass the DR and still do some damage. Let's go with no new weapons for Mawl.
GM Dak |
Sorry that it wasn't clear. For the current situation, the enemy is fleeing right now. Sorix won't have an opportunity to get to them before they fly off unless you chase after them. So currently the two options when it comes around to your turn will be to chase or for those with ranged attacks to get off one last shot instead of chasing.
Just to ensure clarity before I post, currently Mawl has destroyed another one with his AoO and Saniel managed to grab hold of one with his AoO. As such, there is only one left that is attempting to flee. I just want to know if Sorix/Horillo will attempt to take out the fleeing one or if we need to go through the chase scene for everyone.

Mawl is going to be out of town the remainder of the day today with no access to the internet (driving). He is not a decision maker nor a leader, so he is most likely going to decide to do whatever the smarter and/or wiser members of the group suggest.
Sorix Seraxis |
Hey all, it's my birthday tomorrow and I'm having a party tonight which I'm busy getting ready for. I'll try to post this afternoon but it probably won't be until tomorrow evening.
Mawl Primal |
Mawl already agreed to his having a silver raven to keep us informed. Let's move on to the next lead. We can investigate the fires or check out the bar, or possibly both at the same time.
Horillo |
We have hooks to:
- Clenchjaws - other patries disaffected by the Thrune crackdown
- Prisoners being put in the Salt Works ...
- Random fires happening, might get noble support
- One gang being allowed to reek havoc, chaos and violence.
We seem to be heading towards the Clenchjaws hook next, with Mawl, currently doing it tomorrow.
Just my synopsis of where I think we are right now ....
Horillo |
Just so I make sure I am tracking this correct, we are know on day 4 since the Aria Park protests, day 2 since you starting working on the rebellion. Let me know if I am not remembering that correctly.
Sounds good to me :-)

Ok, not sure if I should do this OOC or here in discussion. What do we know about water? How deep is it? Are there nearby beaches and do people swim and boat? Is it just a commercial harbor? Is there such a thing as S.C.U.B.A.?
GM Dak |
As per the map link at the top it is #17. It is basically a huge area of boardwalks in a commercial harbor. Where the shop fell through, the water is at least 10-15ft deep. There are indeed diver kits, air crystals, and various magical options.

I'm up for someone else to suggest something. We have to wait a little while to go back to Clenchjaw's. Can we do anything for a couple of hours like recruit or whatever the overarching campaign is? I've never done anything like that so I don't know if we have to actually spend time doing it.
GM Dak |
As you all may have noticed, Saniel has been away for some time. He mentioned that he was stepping away from Pathfinder for the time being (assuming that means this PbP game as well) so I'm going to be looking for a replacement. Before I do though, I want to make sure everyone else is still planning to continue on with us. Just want to confirm everyone's continued interest.
Sholti Amalasand |
Hi everyone! Thanks for inviting me to your campaign!
I'll be making a few adjustments to Sholti this evening then she'll be ready to go when you want to bring her in.
@Dak: I have a question about gear. Are mundane items that grant bonuses clear to use? For example perfume for the +1 to diplomacy, dancer's garb, etc. Best to know before I buy them.
Also, do courtier's outfits violate the Thrune ban on embroidered clothing?
GM Dak |
Sorry for the delay, I know I usually post earlier in the day, but it was a busy one.
In any case, as there was some discussion about finding alternate routes / clearing the sewers. Don't forget that you have a "team" at your base and you can recruit other teams to do things like that. I mean you are also welcome to spend time doing that kind of thing yourselves, but wanted to remind you there are other options.
Concerning mundane items that grant a bonus, no issues if that is what you want to spend your money on, just keeping in mind the no 3PP. For the cortier's outfit, I would say that it would be against the ban. Though you can always attempt to hide any embroidered clothing with a Disguise check.
