Once he's sure everyone else is out, Torrosk steps back into the doorway, setting himself so only one zombie can get into the doorway, so the group can take advantage of numbers.

The undead creatures advance as the party pulls back, stepping forward and pounding on Torrosk. He avoids most of the blows, some falling harmlessly on his armor. One however catches him between the seams, injuring some ribs in a burst of pain.

Torrosk grunts with the impact of the blow to his ribs, and then growls deep in his chest. He lashes out with his long sword, trying to dismember the zombie.

Unable to hit the creature with anything but a ray of acid, Jonnie fires the ray into the melee.

Ravin shrugs and whispers a spell, giving his hands a warm glow. He reaches foward and whispers, "Healing touch, Torrosk," before touching the paladin and discharging the spell.

With little left she can do for now, Viniana tries to attack the zombie in front of Torrosk once more, but simply can't get a satisfactory swing and hits the floor instead.

No need to mark it off, sometimes these things happen in PbP that would be more obvious around a table.

The parties attacks fall off the mark, though some needed healing is granted to the paladin as he faces his foes. The undead continue their assault on Torrosk, with one landing a solid slam that likely cracked some ribs and leaving the half-orc breathless.

With the beating the paladin is taking, Viniana steps forward and casts a spell, her hands covered in golden energy she touches him causing his wounds to knit closed and bruising to fade.

Jonnie, unable to fire the burst of acid without hitting the paladin, settles for the perpetual ray.

Torrosk snarls at the undead mockeries of life, slashing at them in order to send them back to the death they already earned.

Ravin quickly casts another Cure Light Wounds spell, trying to keep Torrosk on his feet.

Torrosk drops one of the creatures with a solid blow. Jonnie's spell goes wide, and the creature swings back at the paladin, slamming him a with a forceful blow.

Viniana, using the last of her available magic, casts one final prayer to heal Torrosk so that the undead monstrosity can be killed.

Viniana, realizing the need to take down this last undead, tries once more to stab it while missing Torrosk.

Having little else to do, Corpses are just too stupid to taunt.., Ravin steps forward and takes another swipe with his dagger, readying himself to step back out of harm's way if the talons start reaching toward him.

Dagger: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (19) + 5 = 24 Ooh! Threat!
Dagger: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (16) + 5 = 21 Nice. That might work.

Critical: 2d3 ⇒ (1, 1) = 2 Really need to get Arcane strike...


As Torrosk continues to hold his own against the creatures, Jonhilda sends a bolt of acid that hisses in a foul stench as it dissolves undead flesh. Ravin darts in and slashes at its leg, nearly hamstringing the undead brute but instead just making a light cut along its leg. Viniana swings her glaive and misses, as does the paladin with his sword.

GM Dice:

Slam: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (19) + 4 = 23
Damage: 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7
Slam: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10

The creature strikes back at Torrosk, again slamming him hard enough to ring his ears.

Party is up, Torrsk takes 7 hp of damage.


Frustrated, the mage keep up her fire of acid, but the line of sight and aiming to miss the paladin keeps her shot well wide.

Torrosk lets out a deep chuckle at the blow after a grunt. "Is that all you got?" and then slashes down at the zombie.

Ravin darts forward and slashes again, hoping his speed and small size keep the zombie's attention away from him.

Dagger: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (17) + 5 = 22 for 1d3 ⇒ 1

Torrosk responds to the blow he took with a vicious slash, cutting deeply into the undead flesh... the last of the creatures falls to the ground inanimate once again.

Radavek is barely breathing with blood coming from nose, eyes and ears. Without magical healing assistance it is unlikely he could recover from what is surely a fractured skull...

COMBAT FINALLY OVER... we are no long in rounds. Phew.


Did he get hit since the channel? I didn't think he did.

Viniana quickly moves up to Radavek and casts her last bit of healing magic on him, preying to her goddess that she isn't too late.

That was a tough combat, with some good luck on their end and unfortunate positioning it was closer than it should have been. By my calculations, Radavek is at -3/28 hp, Torrosk is at 12/23 and Jonhilda is at 9/14 hp. Let me know when the party is ready to move on...


Ravin shrugs at the comment, "Most cemeteries and catacombs are sanctified, I thought, which is supposed to prevent instead? Between last night's show and the lack of that magic here, I'm thinking zombies may be the least of our problems... ", then whispers a spell to try to bring his Varisian friend back to the land of the ambulatory.

Torrosk sighs heavily, "It pains me to admit, but we may need to rest and gather our strength before going further. Let's take stock of our potions and resources, and make sure we are out of options.


"Yes, our forays leave us depleted quickly."

We do need to rest. I need to pick better spells, color spray has been worthless so far.


I can't taunt the mindless, so I get it.

Ravin nods, "That may be the wisest course of action."

Even with Ravin's magic, Radavek comes around slowly and when he wakes he cradles his arm to his side. "Thanks. Those things were tougher than I thought. Thought I'd meet Pharasma today."

He looks at the bodies on the ground beside him and at the battered half-orc.

"Think there's any chance Juriendor is still alive?"

4 hp for me. Torrosk's at half. Seems the casters are running low on spells. While I'm not a big fan of the 15 minute adventuring day, it looks like that's what we've got. I'm all for retreating topside.

Torrosk grunts and nods, "We head back then, and continue unraveling this mystery later. I have a sneaking suspicion we'll find Juriendor sooner or later.


The group returns to the main cathedral chamber, helping the injured along the way. Two acolytes are busy restoring the chamber to order after the fights and fires of the evening before. They quickly look to you upon your return. "Did you find him? Where is Juriendor?!?"

"Not yet. Were you aware of the undead under your temple?" Torrosk snarls a bit at acolytes, My friend almost died at the hands of the risen. You need to tell us what you know about what lies under there, NOW!


The acolyte appears offended at your tone, "Until today there has never been undead on this sacred ground! This is a Cathedral to the Light!"

"Well you've got them now. Packed like sardines and clawed like dragons." Radavek holds up an arm to show some of his wounds.

"How many rooms are down there? Just how big are those catacombs?"

Looks like we fell into one of those PbP holes where everyone is waiting for someone else to post.


Turning to Radavek the acoylte says, "I do not know... we were only allowed to go a few chambers in. I can help you with your wounds however."

The acolyte pulls a short, white wand from a sleeve and begins to administer to your wounds, saying the words "Eirien ne falso" as a warm glow of healing spreads through you.

The party is healed to full

Once he finishes he adds, "This is nearly spent, but you may take it with you if you continue the search for Juriendor. We must find him at all costs!"


Ravin says, "That will be most helpful, thank you. "

He looks to the others and then back to the catacombs balancing the end in his hand as if weighing it.

He looks around at the others. "Back into the pit?"


Ravin says, "Probably a good idea if we actually want to save Juriendor rather than recover him."
