Expectations for Players

Welcome to our PbP game together. Here are my expectations for players that I find make the experience easier for me as GM, and better for all of the players. :)

Have a complete stat block in your profile:

I will only accept characters who have a complete stat block in their profile. You should be able to run your character entirely from your stat block. If you need your character sheet or ITS in front of you also, then it is incomplete. Feel free to apply in Recruitment threads with a character that isn't up to date, but make sure to have a completed profile before the game starts.

Post every day:

One to two posts per weekday and once per weekend is about the average pace of games. If you will be unable to post for a few days, please let the group know.

Move your minis on the map:

I use Google Drawings and/or Google Slides. If you are unable to manipulate the maps (iPhones have this problem), just indicate in your posts how you want your character to move so that someone else can do so for you.

Make posts interesting:

Most of your posts should include both dialog and descriptive text. Dialog should be bold text in quotes.

Make your dice rolling clear:

You attacks and damage should be on separate lines, and in blocks. They should include any bonuses. You can add the bonuses yourself or you can leave them separate (which is what I tend to do so that I make sure to count them all). Here is an example:
"Take that!" Elska says as she fires 2 arrows at the ghoul with her composite longbow.
attack 1, rapid shot, Point-Blank Shot: 1d20 + 4 - 2 + 1 ⇒ (18) + 4 - 2 + 1 = 21
damage, Point-Blank: 1d8 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 3 + 1 = 9

attack 2, rapid shot, Point-Blank Shot: 1d20 + 4 - 2 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 4 - 2 + 1 = 11
damage, Point-Blank: 1d8 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 3 + 1 = 10

Let me know if you have a wonky ability that I need to know about before I need to know about it:

Is your character built around some unusual ability or combo? Let me know about it up front so I can learn how it is supposed to work. Is your ability somewhat up to table variation? Let me know that, and I will try to rule as fairly to you as I possibly can.

I know the rules pretty well, but I don't know everything. If I mess something up, don't hesitate to bring it up (in the Discussion thread or via PM). PbP has the advantage that rules discussions don't bog down the game like they can in face-to-face games.

Explore, Report, Cooperate!:

Remember that we are all here to have fun. Try to share the spotlight with other players. I don't care if you can one-shot every encounter; many of my own characters are built that way too. Just make sure that everyone else gets to show off too. :)

I'm gonna start things off with the introduction and what not in the gameplay, we have 5 players, so the 6th player can join in when they can!!

I'm excited to begin this adventure, just a reminder, we are starting with the Confirmation, then Master of the Fallen Fortress and then Wounded Wisp!

A little about me, my name is Cody, I don't mind people on the internet knowing my name, I work at a Harley-Davidson dealership. I've been doing Play-By-Post for about a year now and have really fallen in love with it.

Its a great medium and really slows down the pace of all aspects of a scenario allowing for role play. I will try my best interact with your characters, bringing to life the scenario and encounters.

I'll post here instead of gameplay as it subtracts from the game.

Well that sucks, I'm not use to full round actions, and yes I assumed it was just a full turn. I'm use to 5th edition were every spell including enlarge person is just an action, unless it is ritual of some kind where it takes minutes. It was probably a bad idea to enlarge the Dwarf in that area anyway, but hey, gotta roleplay the character. Anyway I assume I can't do anything for round 2 since I'm using up all of round 1 and 2?

No worries, I understand, full-round action spells can be a hassle.

So it takes all of your actions for 1 full round with the spell firing at the start of your next turn.

So you still get all of our second round actions.

Kind of imagine that its an intense spell that requires 6 full seconds of chanting and gesturing.

Mordack will likely switch out enlarge spell when he is done with this scenario, since any number of ajustments can be made at level 1. Given the problems it is causing him, he will have an incharacter reason to do so too.

We fought the minotaur instead of running into the cave (which is something I've done successfully many times.) It opened with a 38 point crit, and I don't think it missed at all, or hit for less than 25 damage in the next several rounds.

Your players must have been very dumb or very brave. The in characters would not know the Minotaur is CR 4, but in characters do know they are fairly new adventurers and that the big bulky Minotaur should be tough for them.

I think it was a mix of new and brave players. Since I have played it many times, I ran with whatever decisions they made, and tried to keep them alive (by getting in the way as a speed bump) as long as I could. It was a comedy of great saves, hits, and damage for the minotaur, and bad tactics/builds from the party.

Alright, some house keeping.

Mordack, I dropped the ball as your PFS GM and didn't do a thorough audit of everyones character sheet, its a known failing of mine.

However in this most recent combat you used a spell, Mudball, which is unfortunately an illegal spell in Pathfinder Society. It appears in the Goblin Player Companion and the additional resources states that only those with a Goblin Boon may use spells from that resource.

Because of that, I'll have to ask you to change your spell to any other legal first level spell. I strongly suggest magic missile, while not a ton of damage, the reliability that Magic Missile brings to an arcane spell caster's repertoire is unmatched.

Yeah, it slips through on the best of us. I too as a player missed it that it was illegal and I check the additional resources as well. Most of my books are PDFs and the computer can load those slow sometimes or it takes a few seconds to scroll down, so I usually reference the Dsrd20 website for quick easy use while still only creating the character from books I own.
Mordack is not your classic sorcerer however. I replace said spell with Hydraulic Push, found in the Advanced Player's Guide. Spell failed anyway though due to spell failure chance, you can just assume he tried that instead.

I picked to use my boon character here, because I thought pulling that out would be far more fun in this medium than in my tabletop tables or roll 20. Very glad we are playing 3 parts together with this group to see where this goes (although part of me wishes the 3rd part was a 3xp mod to get to 2.2).

I'm not going to push that. I just like doing evergreens to 2.2 with most of my characters. It means I only have to burn a single 1-5 scenario to get to level 3. I will be perfectly happy with the schedule as is too.

Similarly, I don't like using up "real" scenarios for my level 1 characters. Evergreens are too useful and real scenarios too valuable to play them at level 1 IMO.

As far as GM cody saying new posts aren't showing up, or for some people campaigns aren't showing up under the tab, it seems to be happening on the entire site, best thing to do is PM people if you start to see them going inactive.
