Just fluff …
Luisila looks from the gunslinger to the servant of the Cleansing Light. As she tugs gently on one of her pointed ears, the look on her face shows one part amusement + one part irritation.
Hello! Half-elf. Do they think I can’t hear them?
“She's ... a little bit crazy.”
*Exasperated eye rolls* WHY does EVERYONE say that?!?

Aakif looks a bit surprised by the pillar of fire. "Where I come from, we do not cook our tea so much..."
A take ten perception of 30 should be able to see the ear tug.
"It was a compliment Luisila - even the crazy part. We all have to be a little crazy to barge into strange houses and face burning creatures that are clearly not made out of tea. Oh, and everyone, please try not to kill this lady. I think Sarenrae would like her back."

Only Varg has a standard action in surprise! Mind the hard corner, though
Also, you're still applying Furious Focus to your iterative. Though I'd figure you'd've kept within a 5' step and not against the wall were it easier to ask if you could 5' around it (i.e. Real Life Games) and existed a square south instead of where you watched from, so I'll apply the first swing once I get a post formulated unless you've got any alteration. Gotta get to work now, though.

After much solo deliberation (and realizing that the woman here's going to have to draw her weapon), I also realized Varg'd have to actually draw his axe as well. So, 5' + Axe Draw is his surprise (plus, since the attacks didn't actually hit after applying the -4 for nonlethal anyways, it's not that much of a loss. At least your magic items don't need activated to work...)
- Varg steps into combat, preparing the less kill-y side for combat!
- The woman proves quick, however, drawing her own blade! She also steps to the north-east and states a command word (the word "Purge" in Kelish), setting her Scimitar alight with more flames!
- Meanwhile, the big, existing fire goes for the flanking attack on the Ulfen!
Slam 1: 1d20 + 12 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 12 + 2 = 261d8 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7 Plus Burn

It takes two rerolls, but Luisila dispels the CL11 effect, and moves closer to the fight. Fun fact time: Sovereign Glue is CL 20... what kind of caster sits down and exclaims "Finally! I have achieved the ability to stop time! Let's make some 100gp glue,"?

Brachus starts to cast a spell and summons a burst of sound at the back of the room
Sound burst, centered so that only the woman is in it. DC 19 fort save or stunned for 1 round. No save vs 1d8 ⇒ 6 sonic damage

GM Burglar |

Driving so I can't quite look it up, but there is an entry somewhere in the core rulebook about tie up maneuvers. It's some grapple check at a big penalty if you do it in 1 round, but she's stunned... So yeah... Don't roll low!
Edit 228 slow enough to edit; grapple at -10 vs her stunned (no dex bonus) cmd
-Posted with Wayfinder

![]() |

I'm guessing her CMD without dex at about 12.
-10 penalty, means you have to get a CMB of about 22.
With your raging CMB, I'd say you'd need a nat 12+ to be sure.
If it was me, I'd prefer to take two rounds of full attacking with your ax flat - I plan to move around to flank with you, and aid another melee for a +4 bonus.
However, I am not you, Cleaver. Do want you want to, buddy!

![]() |

"Ok lady, your burning tea monster is gone, you have no weapon, and you're outnumbered. Surrender. As a former servant of Sarenre you must know that we will not harm you if you surrender.". Aakif spins the fiery scimitar appreciatively.

![]() |

And ... I forgot to add BAB to my CMD estimate. D'oh!
That would make her CMD about 18 without dex + 10 penalty = 28
You'd need a nat 15+ roll, Cleaver.

![]() |

I just figured we wanted to take her alive since I saw penalties for non-lethal being mentioned. If we just want to take her down..yeah, full attacking is better. Also we could just grab her this round, then tie her up next round if she doesn't break the grapple..that avoids the -10 penalty I think

GM Burglar |

No Dex Bonus <> Dex Score of Zero, though Stunned also does impart a -2, though that's not quite enough including the 10 difference.
- Brachus drops a stunner, fully affecting the woman! She drops her burning blade!
- Ryster shoots the fire monster...
- ... which Luisila dispels though a profound expenditure of luck!
- Aakif double-moves towards the woman, expecting to disarm her/the floor of her only obvious weapon!
- Varg goes for the hog-tie, but doesn't quite have the agility to get it done in six seconds!
- The woman enters the final stages of recovering from the burst of sound! Since Brachus is first, she's not stunned anymore immediately after losing her turn.

@Varg, there’s a wall there so you can’t see her from NW of your current square. It’s also a hard corner so 5’ steppin’s out. Good news is if our wise and noble GM allows you to stand your ground, taking -2 off for “NO FLANK” should still hit her no problem.

Aakif sighs. Seriously? Half the followers of Sarenrae that I meet are either crazy, evil, or given up their faith. It makes you wonder... oh well, back to the fight!
Aakif casts an empowered cure moderate wounds (on Varg) defensively, then draws his own scimitar to provide the flank for Varg (at least, that's the plan).
Casting Defensively: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (13) + 12 = 25 (I should need a 19)
CMW on Varg: 2d8 + 8 ⇒ (7, 3) + 8 = 18 (this will be multiplied by 1.5, but I don't know the commands to make this work on the message boards).
Aakif then draws his weapon.

Aakif smiles as his spell is completed. Thank you, Sarenrae. I will try to bring this woman back to you. . That's 27 healing towards Varg.
"Upsia, let's talk. If you were ever actually a follower of the Dawnflower, you know that your blade can't keep up with Sarenrae's healing. Do you see the dwarf with the gun? He and our warrior have been very patient with you so far, and have not tried to kill you, despite your being such a poor hostess. You have it wrong - this is our test, not yours, and I have every intention of passing. Put down the blade, and you will live to see tomorrow's dawn.

GM Burglar |

After removing the flanking bonus and applying the -4 for Nonlethal, Varg's first misses (I'm pretty sure). I believe Varg is at 100% after the Emp cure. She'd be up either way, regardless. 25 NL, 6 L from my half-awake on-mobile count.
The woman laughs, after grunting from getting brained by Varg's second swing. "For a moment, I suppose; I presume you're curious. Well, I was raised a seedling of the Dawnflower and looked to the rising sun every day for over forty years."
"But last night, I was awoken with an epiphany. I looked around my hovel and had to ask myself; 'How did I get here? What have I done to deserve this hovel?' And it dawned on me."
"Every decision I made was wrong, and I don't have a lot of time to spare catching up." She makes a few steps, preparing for further attacks, like she has the short combat thus far. "I'm going nowhere; I deserve better than a three-room shanty and whelps like you pitying me. You'll both be forgotten ashes by morning."

"I don't pity you. No one makes ALL the right decisions - especially me. I was raiding caravans when a follower of Sarenrae gave me a second chance - and all I deserved was a blade in the gut. But I'm trying to make the right decision NOW. Do you want money to buy a new house? I will help you with that."
And now that Everclear song is in my head, "I will buy you a new house..."
"At the end of the day, houses and gold do not compare to the value of a soul. Thank you for testing me and giving me the opportunity to pay back the second chance that was given to me. Put down your blade, please."

![]() |

Luisila scrunches up the side of her face. “Pity you?!? Hoo boy. You’ve picked the wrong deity with this half-elf, sister.”
Luisila looks sideways at the dwarven gunslinger. “Ryster, be a dear and move 10’ to my right so you can draw a bead on this most vexing cow without that …" *deep breath* "... bothersome wall getting in your way.”
“Cleaver, I think you should still go non-lethal but the rest of us should try to kill her. Note, Upsia I am VERY tempted to JUST LET YOU DIE! Orders or no orders. I'm a little on the flighty side you see – ask anyone.”
