Until I post the briefing, you can redo spells/perform any purchasing/etc as needed, as the scenario hasn't actually begun; this is pretty much just a "waiting for everyone to check in" time. Then it becomes the "if there's travel time, then prepare responsively. If emergency response team, not so much, unless you're a Wizard because they don't have to prepare at the same time every day."
On the meta level, I have zero qualms with coordinating with the rest of the casters because deities, omnipotence, and whatnot.
I'm just recycling a now-irrelevant faction mission to give you a reason to be in-game posted in Fantasy Egypt, get some practice posting in, and getting the common map-looking difficulties out of the way. You'll start with a full spell list, HP, etc. etc.

@ GM Burglar. I've got a copy of the Player's Companion Pathfinder Society Primer, which I believe allows the following bonus to the party if we set out from the Sothis Lodge. Is that correct?
Bonus: Your research into ancient afflictions and malign artifacts decreases the DC to identify a cursed item by 2. In addition, you gain a +3 bonus on Linguistics checks to decipher Ancient Osiriani.

GM Burglar |

That is correct and will be the case for the entirety of the written scenario.

Hey Aakif! I didn't get a chance to say hello in the other thread.
What is everyone's level now? I'm feeling like bringing in someone else, probably Ryster, who should be level nine. (Musket Master 5/Alchemist 4) or perhaps Caradeum, (Wiz 6 /Fight 1 / EK 1)

![]() |

I think we can make whoever you bring work, Ander.
Ryster brings serious ranged damage, I’m thinking. This would be able support for Cleaver – just from a distance. Two clerics = some flexibility. Luisila could stick close to Cleaver to keep him up and buffed – similar to how she did in Port Godless. In addition, Linnea, Luisila and/or Aakif could help keep multiple enemy front-liners from ganging up on Varg.
If you bring Ander or Cara, we have a tactical situation quite similar to Shadows Fall on Absalom, which worked well.
Luisila is Level 9, so breath of life is in play.
TL/DR: Play who you want, buddy.
EDIT: Aakif has silence prepared in a second level slot. I currently have it too, but am thinking of changing it for a THIRD burst of radiance. (I also have silence on a scroll). Thoughts?

![]() |

Silence is great for disrupting casters and is very versatile. I like to ready an action vs enemy casters or silence a front line fighter who can chase a Mage. I do have some other options that are good for spell disruption, so you can lose your silence if you want.

GM Burglar |

Who is this new Hamburglar and why do I enjoy the fact that opinions on him are evenly split between "hot" and "creepy"?
Oh, my data plan resets on the 10th, so I'm on "WiFi only unless I'm feeling Dangeresque" levels of online-ness since I'm at the 9.8/10 GB range. New job is great, but actually time-consuming, so you've got time to pick because I have less time to post right now. (Why does nobody want this "sit for 8 hours punching numbers and investigating lost PCs" job; its so mediocre-ly great and I love that.)

![]() |

Congrats on the new job, Burglar! Sounds like you’re enjoying it.
EDIT: D’oh! I just realized when you wrote ‘look for lost PCs’ you meant ‘personal computers’ NOT ‘Player Characters!’ ;)
So we’re looking to start für realz on about the tenth? Sounds good.
@Aakif, I’m going to keep that silence spell. Thanks! Cleaver didn’t mind when I cast it on him in a previous game.

GM Burglar |

The 10th or whenever Tektite picks a dude; whichever happens first. Just "EST late afternoon and later" posts will be rarer and map updatage will be nil until the 10th. This scenario can be one that I might not have to touch the map until the weekend, even if we progress.

![]() |

Sorry to do this - but I'm going to have to bow out. Life just got really super busy and I just won't be able to handle another game at this time.

GM Burglar |

No worries; not like we actually started yet or anything. Just lemme know when you're good for more if I'm still running.
If folks want a 6th, I trust y'all's judgements on bringing in folks. Or if you want to keep APL down, that works too. Schedule remains unchanged; Tektite picks a dude or the 10th (though I'll hold off if he does pick someone but majority wants a sixth.)

![]() |

I'm going to go with Ryster, as he's my semi-Osirion based character. I'm leveling him up, and basically finished. Just need to pick a feat and make some purchases.

![]() |

It happens, Lin. Don't be a stranger when things settle down for you.
... and then there were four ;)
@Burglar, I’ll PM the others and sort out some options, and let you focus on the game prep.

![]() |

The cleric convention is right here! ;)
We’re at 5. I have another invitation out, but haven’t heard back from him.

GM Burglar |

Story Burglar-rata: Where Balentiir says "last week" and "days", he should say "Last night" and "hours." Making this fit the pbp group's narrative is hard, three seasons later.
-Posted with Wayfinder

![]() |

Don’t sweat it, Burglar. Perfect compliance with setting canon is impossible three seasons later.
You’re making it work just fine.

![]() |

Burglar, I just opened the handout with your “again!” text box.
Those little details really make a difference. Bravo!
Also, I dunno about you guys but during the course of the adventure I’m hoping we might get a chance to visit the ‘Kalthet Family Tomb Protection Services’ and meet Ernest’s mom and/or dad.
Such a shame Lin can’t make this one. I can only imagine the roleplay between her and Mrs Kalthet.

GM Burglar |

House Map, not to be confused with House Map.
Handouts are probably the #1 thing I both LOVE and HATE about PFS simultaneously. For things like Eyes of the Ten, the old Faction handouts made almost no sense, but are needed to keep yet another Cakewalk in Babytown from being just a Boring Cakewalk in Babytown for anyone who is even mildly optimized (and not Core Campaign). Thus, for the new factions I had (Silver Crusade, Scarni, and Grand Lodge), I made entirely new handouts with the same exact mission in a different fluff shape in some cases. Mostly "Eagle Knight = Generally Good Person" and "Steal from the Grand Lodge = Ambrus Orders a Surprise Inside Audit Because Trust Nobody Who Changes Their Entire Name Between Scenarios." Taldor missions were usually stealing something or threatening someone, so that wasn't really... difficult to transpose over.
On the downside, they have to exist most of the time and require owning scissors with all RP sessions and can be somewhat inflexible and often unreadable (thanks, Amenopheus! I vote the new chick because maybe she won't underling half your words for no reason.) Plus, when they have a DM going back and forth between the scenario and the handout, it was often distracting in Faction Mission days (not that that's an issue anymore.)

![]() |

Burglar, you did a great job with Eyes of the Ten. I enjoyed getting a chance to play Jander again, and it was interesting to see the different faction goals. I still have several mission briefing handouts that you customized to my character. The time & effort is appreciated!

GM Burglar |

Thing I forgot to note explicitly for Aakif; Initiative for PBP (when I run) is slightly more fluid; if your block of players is up, you can post. I'll sort out the course of actions once I do a big post, trying not to bone anyone over while keeping accurate with cover and stuff.
Actually waiting for proper order would take AGES to do, though it pains me to alter turn-based methodology. Though I rationalize it as assuming a "I'll delay for you" type dialogue happened in the shuffle. The only time I'm strict about it is Poisions/Burn/Confusion/Other "when your round happens" things. Retcons aplenty otherwise, though.
I'll also do mini updates when dependant things (like that dispel magic happened) to help make swingy decisions easier and so folks don't attack stuff that isn't there.

GM Burglar |

Apologies for the semi-railroad on the showing the guard the scene before doing anything and the paperwork, but with your collective Wisdom, y'all know that's the best-case result (and I didn't want to take a few days asking "are you suuuuure?" There's enough trade checkpoints that you'd probably get caught eventually, given your general skill-sets (though Aakif would have actually made it possible, bringing bluff to the table.)
Though, theoretically, if you were all REALLY GOOD at playing Weekend at Bernie's by sheer GM Entertainment Points, you'd maybe alright... but being caught with a dead body is definitely a no-no. Even then, a follow-up investigation later would point toward a conversation later at the guardhouse...
"A fight happened at an old lady's house."
"Well, who was here?"
"Church said some Pathfinders."
"You mean those guys who keep trying to smuggle relics out of here?"
"... Yeah..."
"..."
"Book em, Dan-o."

![]() |

I'm fine with this sort of semi-railroading, it might have been fun to play it out until we caught on out of character..but yeah, our characters should know when it's bad to be caught in a city with a dead body (some cities will have more of an issue with this then others)..while I as a player rarely think about the follow-up/clean-up of dead bodies

![]() |

No problem, Burglar.
I think the ‘crowd control’ is a good move, Brachus. Pretty unlikely Luisila will hit with a -7 penalty.
I might try blasting with burst of radiance once the crowd clears a bit.

GM Burglar |

Oh, as per my face-to-face games, I'm a "You can roll Sense Motive and ID rolls at your own discretion, preferably in a format to the following
Knowledge: 1d20 ⇒ 17 +10 Arcana, +3 Nature, +7 Planes (+1 vs Devils/daemons/demons)
... though you can pare out any obvious options (like, say, rolling Arcana here since this is some kind of dog-thing.)
For Sense Motives, I'd like to pretend I'm lenient about how often one can roll them. PBP is pretty good about it, since blocks of text happen and I can get past "things you guys failed to sense" if everyone failed an initial one (a VERY common occurrence with this group. They'd see a sniper on a ridge 300 yards away no problem, but have issues believing if Gurail is actually selling them magic dust to get rid of headaches.)
This may or may not be prodding to the Tektite to rolling Nature to see if he really needs to waste use a reroll.

I’m off on a planned overnight business trip.
I should be back posting by 10am Thursday Mr Burglar time.
Until then could Aakif/Brachus: 1d2 ⇒ 1 Aakif please take Luisila’s combat turns? I will accept the consequences – good or bad! ☺

![]() |

Sadly, no Cleaver. Head Office in Perth and Power Point Presentations await! *blech*

![]() |

We’re taking a short, family break but daily posting should be no problem.
Back home approx 8am Thursday, GM Burglar time.

GM Burglar |

My confusion was with Blessed Fortitude (Warpriest {Sacred Fist}) and its better phrasing. One of these days, I'll play that Rogue2/Warpriest X with beast saves.
RAW and PFS are clear: "she's is Dazzled", though in a home game I'd Executive Decision the other way to throw the Rogue a rare bone and count " being Dazzled is halfway to blindness."
There's a person around the corner that will require me to actually change up the map, so no new content post yet.

Just came back from seeing Ant Man with another family.
All ages enjoyed it – including those who don’t know Ant Man from Batman, and those that do! :)

![]() |

I'm guessing it's time for:
PFS# 69095-1
Faction: Grand Lodge
No Day Job
Thanks for running, Burglar!

GM Burglar |

You're a bit early (like a whole section early), though it is in The System. My ability to turn the "Red Herrings" two-line section into almost a page of content is baffling.

Oh, wow. OK then, move along people - nothing to see here. ;)

GM Burglar |

Data plan is reset, so I'm good to go now. Seeing who gets ambushed by Ninja mummies, currently... Use of both the words "Stealth" and "Quickly" are kinda opposites.

Discussion about Unbreakable Heart from gameplay ...
Yeah, it does seem like a good spell for first level. I believe James Jacobs designed it, who really likes clerics.
Maybe it's another way for clerics to support fighter/barbs with low Will saves in the game??
Or perhaps it's to encourage more people to play clerics, because goodness knows you don't see very many in PFS play!
*Looks left*
*Looks right*
;)

Thursday is my live game anyways, so no worries. Thanks for the heads up anyways.
