Balance and Concentration are gone as well. Use Rope can also be Profession (Sailor). Its a very GM-fiat territory.

I need to add Desmond's Dodge to his CMD. Thanks for the clarification on that.

![]() |

The character sheet I use automatically adds dodge and deflection to CMD but I was not aware that other AC bonuses added in as well (other than a monk's bonus because I think that specifically says it adds to CMD. . . maybe. . . now I'm second guessing myself).

Is that DYK - Shipyard Rats you're running, Omrax?
I lost my bard in that one to a TPK. Our "tank" was a negative channeling cleric wielding a quarter staff, though.
One positive out of that was I created my fighter as a knee-jerk reaction to losing the bard. So if the bard hadn't died, Eadie would probably never have been born.

![]() |

Yep, that is the one. Party had a couple level 2 bruisers I had run for before. Although one is running away afraid, but the other just polished off the big guy, despite DR. So TPK not likely at this point.

A friend of mine just picked up the Pathfinder Adventure Card Game and we gave it a try last night. Very fun time.

It just dawned on me that while Wayfinder can't output text after bullet points and I'm neurotic enough about standardized formatting to not care that I can't see entire posts, other folks might.
Does anyone else use the app and are forced to a mobile browser because of it?

"The southern end of Taldor's current holdings is almost entirely flat, so tectonic plate overlap isn't quite as common. On top of that, many Druidic lay lines run through the Verudan Forest to the north (which houses the largest concentration of Druidic activity in all of Avistan), so there's a big enough druidic community nearby to maintain defenses from such disasters. Though were Oppara to be hit by such an event, it isn't exactly the strongest of foundations, given that it was built on the remains of every old generation of the capital! It'd probably look like all the stuff we saw that time we saw Musello, isn't that right, Snouts?"

Nice one!
I GM'd some PFS yesterday. I think everyone had a good time, and I certainly had them worried for their characters at times.
So, do I qualify to join the evil GM club or not?

Heading to airport for business trip. If I am slow posting this week and holding up progress, feel free to keep Omrax swinging at same target or have Lady Luisila tell him what to do next.
I will be able to post mostly at night from the hotel (probably not update map though).

The short on nonlethal damage (from what I can remember off the top of my head, I could be wrong):
Nonlethal damage in excess of your current HP makes you fall unconscious (but not bleeding because you're not actually below 0).
Nonlethal damage in excess of your maximum/normal HP becomes lethal damage.
So in order to do enough damage to cause someone to bleed from nonlethal you'd need to do twice as much as their normal HP. I have seen someone kill with nonlethal before though (not me).
Nonlethal damage is healed by magical healing at the same time as regular HP damage. i.e. If someone has 20 HP damage and 20 nonlethal damage and are hit with a cure light for 8 points, they now have 12 HP damage and 12 nonlethal damage.

![]() |

And on the Merciful/Bane combination, I think Merciful trumps all:
A merciful weapon deals an extra 1d6 points of damage, but all damage it deals is nonlethal damage. On command, the weapon suppresses this ability until told to resume it (allowing it to deal lethal damage, but without any bonus damage from this ability).
So the extra Bane damage becomes nonlethal because all the damage the weapon deals is nonlethal.

Linnea was almost killed with non-lethal damage on her first outing. She was within 1 point of full-on death. Yeah, she had failed a will save and attacked a fellow Pathfinder. He responded by dealing a non-lethal blow with his stonebreaker or earthbreaker hammer (I don't remember the exact name).
So, he got a confirmed critical hit on Linnea and then felt really bad.

We have had family outings to see Frozen and Cloudy with the Chance of Meatballs 2 this week. Both kids and grown-ups enjoyed them very much!
We also went ten pin bowling, which is something I haven't done in years! I learnt even little kids like this activity - provided the gutters have bumpers on them.

![]() |

My mom was in town visiting. She and my wife took our boys to see Frozen a couple of days ago. Apparently they both sat still the whole time - must admit I'm surprised. I didn't think they would sit through the whole thing.

![]() |

My three loved the frozen movie - saw it in 3D. Excellent

So, the groups:
1 - Des, Sahrek, Baz and Chelsea
2 - Varg, Omrax, Luisila, Yushua
Mostly because I think Varg and Omrax are essentially the odd couple and I think it's funny to put them together.

![]() |

Definitely. :-)
If you can't have fun watching a paladin try to fit in with a team comprised of a courtesan, a barbarian, a demon and a vampire, then you need to lower your expectations!

![]() |

And you don't know Yushua is a vampire!

![]() |

Hey Des, I think Omrax called you normal and fit company for a paladin! :)

![]() |

And in this group, never was there a higher compliment! :)
(and which by extension applied to our sorceress, Chelsea. Although I could have thrown the term "pyromaniac" in there for effect)

Happy Sarusan Australia Day! Virtual pavlova for all!
I’ve just been reading the first act of Wrath of the Righteous Adventure Path #5.
I thought Omrax might appreciate this passage BUT Spoilers!
After the introductions She says to them: “You are bold to look on me and I favor boldness.”

Pavlova? But it's not Pavlova Tuesday. (Anybody else watch Moone Boy?)

WotR looks awesome but I think I'm even more excited about Mummy's Mask, as Osirion is one of my favorite regions on Golarion. Hopefully I'll get a chance to play that one but I don't have any plans for it yet.

![]() |

Yeah, I don't understand why they didn't sanction that one other than being swamped sanctioning the old ones, Wardens, and (presumably) Mummy's Mask as it comes out. As long as nothing mythic showed up on the chronicle sheet, it should be fine. There's nothing stopping someone from running a mythic Rise of the Runelords in campaign mode and getting PFS credit for it. There was some concern about people playing it with PFS characters and getting slaughtered against the mythic baddies but the general response I heard was 'ok, just sanction it in campaign-mode only' but the staff never really responded to that proposal (as far as I know).
--
I've already got an AP subscription and it's going to be really tempting not to read through Mummy's Mask when I get it but I want to save it in case I play it. Unfortunately, I probably won't start it with a group in Bloomington since I'll be moving in a few months. This summer would be ideal because I should have plenty of free time but I don't know anyone back in LaPorte who plays. I might try to jump in one of the many PbP versions that will inevitably pop up but I'm going to have to vet the GM so I don't have another Skull and Shackles experience* (or Reign of Winter gameday experience**).
*GM disappeared a few weeks into the game; still hasn't reappeared on the boards. We found a replacement GM who is decent but it's still moving pretty slowly
**SLOWEST. GAME. EVER. Days go by without an update.

![]() |

@Endless Have you got your results yet?
@Des Was there a Sports Bar in the Overlook Hotel?
The Superbowl being less than a week away, I thought the football fans in the group (I believe our GM may not number among them) might get a giggle out of this.
**Warning** SAFE for work, but DON’T take a mouthful of your favorite beverage before watching this.

![]() |

Funny stuff. I think there was one of those bad lip reading videos where they spliced a bunch of clips of Game of Thrones to make it a show about a renaissance fair in financial trouble or something.

![]() |

@ Luisila: Glad you caught my Shining reference.

![]() |

Super Bowl? Ahhh, nix dat. We got the Winter Olympics coming up, BA-BY!
OH YAH! Partner figure skating is where it is at! Get your quadruple axle on, snitches! Whose with me, eh, eh?!? chest bumps Des
Curling. That's what I'm talking about. Everybody's shuffling. does funky dance, then slams stones with Ormax
L-U-G-E. You don't know me without my Lu-gie. Oh yah, my Lugie. Uh-huh my Lugie
Shotguns a beer, then crushes the can on his head. Nearly passes out.
That's it goodnight!
crawls back into his hole

Don't forget the Biathalon. Skiing and shooting - the way God intended it to be done.

What is this foot-ball you speak of? Seriously, I'm so out of touch with sports that for the past five years I have attended a school with one of the most celebrated basketball programs in the country and have not gone to a single game. I should probably be ashamed of myself, especially because my grandpa was one of the biggest IU bball fans ever and my brother continues that legacy, but I honestly don't even pay attention to sports. I got invited to a superball party a few years ago and didn't even know who was playing until I got there. (I don't have cable so that doesn't help the issue.)
--
@Luisila: By results you mean grad schools? I've been accepted into Ohio State and nominated for a university fellowship there but it's not likely I'll be going there because they were my backup. I haven't officially been accepted to IU but my research adviser already agreed to take me on-but again, I'm not going to be going there. The one I care about is University of Wisconsin and I've got a graduate recruitment weekend there coming up next Thursday-Saturday; I'm about 90% accepted-I think the recruitment weekend is more about them schmoozing us and giving us their pitch than anything. I'm still waiting to hear back from University of Chicago; they've got the #4 biology program in the nation so that'll be pretty tough, although Wisconsin is in the top 20 and things are looking good there so you never know.

Played HS and College Football and Baseball. Yes, I am the little known, and difficult to find, Jock/Gamer. LOL...BTW - A bleeding Black and Gold Steelers, Pirates and Penguins fan - being born and raised in Pittsburgh, and all.

![]() |

Baz, I checked in on that 2-3 weeks ago. Dodged the biggest bullet there.
I'm a casual football watcher. I was a big Raiders fan when I was a young'n - before they left LA. More into baseball - especially my much maligned Dodgers.

![]() |

Yes, I am the little known, and difficult to find, Jock/Gamer.
I wouldn't call myself a jock but I certainly don't fit the gamer stereotype. I've run a half-marathon and probably exercise more than all of the GenCon attendees put together*. I just can't catch, hit a ball, dribble, make a basket, etc. And I certainly can't swim, lol. I also grew up on a farm, so there's that against the stereotype too.
*not that that's setting the bar very high, lol
