May the holiday season bring a fluid and gentle calm to the roiling outside forces of the world for one and all!

Merry Christmas/Holidays/Monday everyone! :)

Happy New Year, guys! I proved just how exciting of a life I lead when I came home from work last night and (more or less) promptly went to bed :P
Kriklishik

Quick question - Did Rennec move at more than half speed? If yes, did you account for the +10 to the DC? DC, as I understand, would be CMD +14. At that rate, it looks like everybody would get an attack as he went by (unless you count Ray as being +10, Fran +12, and Thomas +14, which is certainly one reasonably way to rule it.)
Kriklishik
|
Up on the dias! Ah; I didn't realize that was traversable space. Very good, carry on! :)
Kriklishik
|
Ray, I don't see any way of doing it either. On the up side, you have IUS, so you can still attack if you do decide to drop the mace.
Thomas Hasoshi
|
I'm keeping my fingers crossed.
Aside from playing the special the Sky Key, i think it was, this is the most tricky fight i've had in a while. :o
Ramon 'Ray' Azure
|
...well, it was a decent enough run. Sorry I couldn't do more to help.
We probably should have tried to figure out a way to get the information we had out first. Ah well.
Thomas Hasoshi
|
Bad luck strikes every so often.
The GM rolled up 3 hellhounds, bad luck for us.
We tried, it's all we can do, i suppose. :)
Fran Belmont
|
Well, we've for sure got Shayna and Vlazis down and now possibly Krik. Fran's only other spell available is a Burning Hands, hence why she's not used it yet. Even if the hounds are summoned and (hopefully) will poof soon, the BBEG throws some nasty punches so I'm not sure how well we would fare trying to wear him down while Fran bops people with her healing stick.
So...I don't really know how things work for PFS when the group gets into dire straits like this. I guess we should discuss what to do? I'm loathe to say 'run for it' but... :\
Ramon 'Ray' Azure
|
...except we locked ourselves in and the only way out is through the gauntlet with the summoned hellhounds and Egarthis.
Well, investigating the two side rooms quickly will at least mean we investigated the place if you're looking for a good hiding place? I mean, Egarthis may not look there immediately?
Fran Belmont
|
Fran checked one door and found it locked, though maybe not all of them are. And we locked ourselves in? Guess I forgot about that.
Ramon 'Ray' Azure
|
We barricaded one door and there's gonna be sleep-deprived angry Razmirans on the other side of it.
I've been trying to run the numbers to figure out what if anything would be viable as an option and coming up with crap.
EDIT: If anyone has ANY ideas, even if their character is down, please provide them because I'm drawing a blank and may be missing any glimmer of hope for us here?
Thomas Hasoshi
|
I wonder if this guy was scripted to run if below a certain amount of HP?
Switching to false life, and sending goons for reinforcements...
Even if we take this a-hole down, those hounds are tier 4 lvl summons.
That's 7 rounds of evil doggy troubles at the very least.
On ideas..... i can hope to deal SA if i use another ki point to vanish.
I can only suggest we try gang our last efforts on him, and hope the hellhounds go poof before we all go down.
| GM Bret |
Correction:
Egarthis didn’t send Rennec for reinforcements.
Rennec came out, saw the situation, and told Egarthis that he would go get reinforcements.
Ray may want to reread Rennec’s motive as well.

Or have Fran give you flank — either by switching weapons or moving.
I had to check, but Kriklishik has a dagger. It would allow him to fight defensively.
I think it is still possible to survive this.
Fran Belmont
|
Oh I'm definitely all for continuing to fight the good fight - especially if a tactical advance in the opposite direction isn't feasible at this point. Fran's still got her one spell after all, plus her wand, the reach of her longspear, and a couple vials of alchemist's fire :)
(Though if things start getting really ugly, she's going to tell Mr. Sunshine to run/hide and save himself.)
Ramon 'Ray' Azure
|
I did read the spoiler because the Sense Motive was made.
Which means that if Rennec gets down there, he's going to... open the door and let them in, right?
Or am I thinking this out too much?
Thomas Hasoshi
|
Except the guy and hounds are highly resistant/immune to fire, it seems.
Fran, do you have a dagger on you?
If you can threaten him with a close weapon, i can flank and SA.

I'm going to wait for Fran's post, if i check in tomorrow morning (for me), and she hasn't made her post yet, i will assume she joins in on the plan to provide me with flank.
Which seems the best option right now.... :S
(She's in a different timezone, i think?)

Maybe? I've been asleep most of the day and I'm about to head out the door for another couple of hours but I'll get a post up later tonight!

I was pretty sure we were about to TPK out. That was rough. I traded away my Ifrit fire resistance. I don't remember what for, but I def missed it just now!
Ramon 'Ray' Azure
|
Your initiative modifier.
Kriklishik
|
Yeah, I knew it was either that or the bonus to hit after catching someone on fire. I couldn't remember which and wasn't in a position to look it up. :)
Initiative modifier is far more useful. There's no potion to get you +4 initiative for half an hour (or 20 mins or whatever). But when you need fire resistance, you need it!
Ramon 'Ray' Azure

I'm quite okay with anyone else identifying stuff before me, just don't want to be an 'action hog'...
Ramon 'Ray' Azure
|
Please someone chime in here, hate to see us bomb this part because everyone was too polite and the die roller sucks. Or what the GM said earlier today.
| GM Bret |
At this point you feel you have enough evidence.
If people want, I can wrap things up with a summary post. I could add one more fight, but I do not think you would find it much of a challenge at this point.
I have a game most of the day tomorrow—playing Curse of the Riven Sky.
Let me know if the group wants a last battle to escape or just a summary.
Ramon 'Ray' Azure
|
I was thinking we could avoid the battle entirely and just *walk out* because we have all the resources we need to do that?
Unless I missed something pertinent?
Vlazis 'The Beloved' Chibuzo
|
I'm good for a simple escape personally.
Fran Belmont
|
Yes, a simple escape summary sounds fine to me :)
Kriklishik
|
Yes, a summary is fine by me. :)
Ramon 'Ray' Azure
|
In case there's any confusion, simple summary is good.
Ramon 'Ray' Azure

What is the level of the next module after this in thematic linkage?
| GM Bret |
City of Golden Death is for levels 4-6. I have not read it, but that is the reason you were given the third tome — so you would have the information to chase after Iramine and her crew.
Ramon 'Ray' Azure
|
Awesome!
Thank you again for running!
Do you need anything else from us for chronicles?

My chronicle looks good (and dang, some nice goodies to access on it too)! Thank you again for running; I'm short on time tonight but I'll try and send you some feedback either tomorrow evening or Saturday when I've got more time to properly order my thoughts :)

Chronicle looks good.
You did fine, imo. Gj on your 1st PBP.
Thank you for your patience with Thomas' eccentric actions at whole play dead thing.
I'm too busy atm, but if i'd have a shorter amount of games, i'd sign up in the future.
