Welcome!
I always do my best to run a friendly game. I want people to have fun and everyone to be able to laugh when something crazy happens.
I try to run a reasonably fast game and like everyone to be able to post at least once a day. If you are going to be away from the game for a short period (such as attending a convention, on a short vacation, or needing to do some business travel), I would ask that you please post that here so everyone involved knows. Please also indicate if you have a preference for who runs your character.
Please have a profile displaying a brief overview of your character's current status. At the least it should include current/maximum hit points, AC (including flat footed and touch), saving throws, and any pools of expendable resources such as panache, grit, arcane pool, rounds of rage, rounds of bardic performance or other things like those that get expended as you use powers.
In the character profile, please include a complete stat block. You may put it under a spoiler if you wish, but if you do so please put it under a single spoiler. I do not want it split across multiple spoilers.
Please include botting instructions in your profile and a general tactics in case someone else needs to bot your character. It is alright if you put this in a separate spoiler from the stat block, but once again please don't split it over multiple spoilers.
In general, if we have been waiting for a character to post and it has been 24 hours, I will be looking to either bot that character myself or have someone else bot it for the player.
If there are rules questions, please post them in the discussion thread rather than interrupting the gameplay thread with rules debates.

Alright, we are still missing Paladin of Baha-Who? I'll attempt another PM, see if they respond.
@Everyone: I would like some sort of botting instructions for your characters.
@Evil Minion: Are you going with Dr. Strang or did you decide to switch characters? I don't need an immediate answer, but I do like to collect the player Initiative, Perception, and a few other things so that I can just cut and paste them when needed. Also, would you mind collecting all the Defense/Offense/Statistics stuff under a single spoiler? I dislike having to open multiple spoilers just to see a complete statistic block.
@Chaul: Since it appears your main character sheet is out on Mythweavers, could you put a link to it in your header. That will save me a click when I want to check something on your character. If you do that, I don't care so much about your character's profile on Paizo.
Thanks all! I look forward to running this.

GM Bret |

It appears that Paladin of Baha-Who? is missing. They have not mustered their own table yet.
The Online crew is attempting to contact them.

I've added some bot ideas and a link to my header.

As some of you may have noticed, there are now links in my header for multiple campaigns. The link for the Flesh Collector will take you to the Google Slides we will be using for this scenario. Right now, all that is there is a title page.
If you want to add your avatar images to that title page, please feel free to do so. You will need to request edit permission first.
I will be starting the mission briefing soon!

Checking in to make sure the information in my header is sufficient.
I am using a Google Sheets character sheet for Lurgh. You should be able to view it by clicking the Sheet link in the post header. I added to the sheet by creating a page to automatically format dice rolling macros. Whenever I add a buff or condition to the character sheet, the macros will automatically be updated as will the header information when I mark off the use of a tracked resource. I just have to copy the results into my post/profile.
The tracked resources account for the fact that Lurgh begins each day with an extended mage armor (18 hour duration).

GM Bret |

Those of you who haven’t yet, please go to the game slides and request edit permission. If you don’t know how to do that, please ask.
I see Charles and Grimaldius on the map. I would like the rest of you to place an avatar there as well.

GM Bret |

Thank you for bearing with me on this issue.
I am asking people to have a login in order to edit the slides. That does not require a gmail address, but it does require some sort of authentication.
I do not like allowing anyone with a link to be able to change things in my account. I consider it a major security issue. That does not sit well with me as a software professional.
If you can suggest another option that doesn’t create a publically writable area, I would consider that.

![]() |

Opening up the document to all doesn't open up other things as well, just the document. I generally set permissions to allow anyone with the link to make changes. While in theory people could mess around with the maps, in my four odd years of using google for mapping I've never noticed anyone doing this maliciously.
There are woopsie moments from time to time, the biggest being when the background image is moved sideways accidentally, but that happens with the legitimate people accessing it.
That said, each person has their own comfort levels for these things.

![]() |

If it's really an issue for players would it be an acceptable compromise if I created an open copy of the map on my account that we could play off of?

![]() |

I have my home game tonight and then I will be on the road tomorrow due to a death in the family. Expect nothing further from me until Monday.

GM Bret |

Since locks, traps and doorways can slow things down a lot in PbP, if you want to establish a standard procedure I will automatically use that when you encounter a door.
Right now, I'm assuming that as the group moves about Grimaldus is concentrating to detect chaos and Dr. Strang is visually looking for any signs of active magic. As I understand it, Dr. Strang doesn't have a Detect Magic spell active, instead depending on Knowledge: Arcana to tell when there is something magical or manipulated in the past by magic.

![]() |

Chaul can keep up a detect magic if that would be helpful. His perception is okay, but he is no trap spotter.

![]() |

Johann will keep an active lookout for traps and check any doors, boxes, or other such things for traps before opening them.

![]() |

Grim keeps a watchful out for tell-tale tripwires, pressure plates / stones, odd colorations of the floor, and cracks in the floor or walls. And, since he usually pretty close to the ceiling, he looks up for holes or traps that might be above them! But he is no rogue and so will let others test doors for traps, or disable anything he may find. He is a good door unlocker / unsticker (with a good kick or shoulder!) He is also ok with being the point man in formation.

GM Bret |

In Play by Post combat, I allow all players without an NPC acting between them to post their actions in any order. This maintains the groupings of player vs. NPC actions. The equivalent effect could be achieved by use of delay actions.
I do this in order to speed up the combat. If we waited for each person to post in order of initiative, it would draw out the combat much too long.
I am fine with someone saying something like 'I delay until after Lurgh and then...' so as to allow someone else to do something (such as take advantage of a flank), but I would prefer people post as soon as they can.
I try to respond to posts as quickly as I can to resolve each players turn, so as to minimize the chances of needing to retcon a turn because that NPC died.
If you have questions, please feel free to ask.
Those of you with spells active, please update your headers for those spells. If it gives a bonus to saves or AC, I expect to see that in the header.
Thanks!

Dealing with a dead boiler in my house and a lack of heat or hot water. I probably won't be online much today, so please bot as needed. I will try to check in tonight.

![]() |

Hmm, yes, that rule for season <4 scenarios where parties falling between tiers must play down with 5 characters.

GM Bret |

Supernatural are still magic.
I was under the impression that they weren't.
Sorry, my mistake. Checking, it does say:
Supernatural Abilities (Su): Supernatural abilities are magical but not spell-like. Supernatural abilities are not subject to spell resistance and do not function in areas where magic is suppressed or negated (such as an antimagic field). A supernatural ability’s effect cannot be dispelled and is not subject to counterspells. See Table 16–1 for a summary of the types of special abilities.
I had thought that they worked in an anti-magic field.
I apologize for my mistake. It was a supernatural special ability.

This is one of those room descriptions that spans 2 or 3 pages where the room description is first, then there's the creatures, then there's various developments that happen when you do this, or that, or the other thing, then there's stat blocks, then there's faction mission-related notes, and THEN it lists treasure that should have been included when you describe the room to the players, eh?

GM Bret |

Ok, if this is going where its hinting at... that's kinda cool. Or I'm completely misreading it, but now have a great idea for a home game!
I didn't want to comment on this until we got through a little more of the parley. That allows me to fill in more of the background information.
I do think this is a really great plot. I love that the villain in this is a tragic figure with an alien viewpoint. Hopefully I'm carrying it off well enough for people.
I ran through this with my character Omar, a cleric of Shelyn. Not exactly a nature god, but she does love the beauty that can be found in the wilds. Omar empathized with the villain on the destruction that had been wrought, even knowing that some of it was used to record art.
I look forward to seeing how this group will handle the situation.
