Conlaoch and Raevin stand around as the Bell forces them to remain calm, soothing their nerves from the imminent death that was surely to overtake most, if not all, of the party.
Bevek disappears as he consumes the potion and moves around the pacified elemental as Fingalad continues to bleed out on to the ground.

Raevin peeks into the room, relaxed now, not so terrified of the earth monster and views the situation... He gulps, but seeing the creature pacified, he overcomes any lingering fears and moves back into the room. He rushes to Fin's side and tries to use his wand on him.

Amon feels a strange calmness flow over him as the bell rings.
Please let them be alright..... Amon rushes over to his companions and pulls his wand out.

GM Bold Strider |

We are still in rounds, folks.
Bevek moves to Fingalad and saves him from death as Raevin returns to aid the group as Amon rushes forward, just as the initial compulsion wears off.

As the man runs from the citadel to the fallen Pathfinders, the earth elemental seems to overcome the compulsion of the bell.
He made his subsequent save. :(
The kitsune feels the brunt of the attack as he is slammed in the chest by the creature, nearly knocking him out in one punch! This shakes the spell from the kitsune as he draws his wand in his off hand.
Conlaoch stands still as he waits in quite contemplation, probably thinking that he should flee.

Elemental's turn
The elemental slams into Bevek and Amon in an attempt to subdue them, dealing non-lethal slam damage, but knocking them both unconscious as Raevin and Conlaoch feel the peacefulness of the bell.

I am afraid Conlaoch is fatigued for 2 rounds as well, having used rage for 1 round before being calmed.
Conlaoch withdraws, moving south as quickly as he can manage.
Perhaps it will follow so the others can survive...

![]() |

description of calm emotions: This spell calms agitated creatures. You have no control over the affected creatures, but calm emotions can stop raging creatures from fighting or joyous ones from reveling. Creatures so affected cannot take violent actions (although they can defend themselves) or do anything destructive. Any aggressive action against or damage dealt to a calmed creature immediately breaks the spell on all calmed creatures.
note the last sentence... wouldn't that mean we are all no longer calmed and can act normally?

![]() |

Yikes. We're not out of the woods yet, but at least no one is in danger of imminent death any more...

![]() |

yay for being stabilized. Thanks for coming to my side folks.
The spell is broken for "all calmed creatures" when one calmed creature is attacked. Seems pretty straightforward to me.
wouldn't the elemental also have to correctly guess Bevek's location?
-Posted with Wayfinder

GM Bold Strider |

Oops... I misread that. You are right Raevin. You are all freed from the Calm Emotions upon that attack.
As to Bevek's location, he isn't stealthing and is actively casting spells which requires speaking the command word for the wand. If anything, this puts the DC between sounds of battle and details of a conversation, so -5. The elemental has a +11 Perception, so it knows where Bevek is pretty easily, I would think.

![]() |

also, unless they changed earth elementals, they have or at least had tremorsense
Raevin grabs Fin and runs out of the room again (if that's possible)... If he can't lift Fin, he'll just run...

GM Bold Strider |

Oh yeah! That to! :D
@Raevin: Also, you would not want to go up there and rescue Fingalad as he is behind the elemental and you would provoke.
Conlaoch flees from the room as Raevin flees as well. The pair rounds the corner and hides by the doorway.
The pair hears voices coming from nearby. "Did ye hear that? Sounded like someone banged on the bell. Let's check it out!" says a man, likely a cultist. You think you have enough time to hide.
You don't hear any more sounds of battle inside the building, however.

Conlaoch, not as adept at hiding as Raevin, takes the long way around and hides around the building, completely obscured from view.
Raevin, due to her proximity, can hear the guards just inside the room.
"Damn... Looks like ol Rocky got some intruders. Ye gonna go check em out?" asks the cultist.
"Hell no! That crazy elemental attacks everyone 'cept the bleeding summoner. It already got four of the little, blue biters." the gruffer man states with a laugh.
"Well, I say we forget we even saw this." says the man.
Raevin's keen ear can hear a dog whine near the men as its shuffling gets closer and the snout twitches along the ground, following the scent.
"Oi! Half-rat! Get yer bloody ass over here!" the second man bellows as the dog yips and returns to its master.
Raevin can hear the men and dog leave and go back the way they came. She calls out Conlaoch quietly and they return to see their friends scattered about near where the earth elemental came from.

Conlaoch says "Lasso isn't really in my skill set. Can you do it?"
"Otherwise, is there a way to pretend to be the summoner?"

rope use is based on cmb and yours is probably higher than mine, but if it's based on simple bab plus dex, yours might still be higher.. my cmb is +2, ranged attack is +5... whoever is highest in the appropriate skill should roll...

![]() |

I think we're gonna try it yes... it's just a question of who should do it
Raevin tries to use his rope as a lasso to grab whoever is closest of the those who are down.
to snag with a lasso: 1d20 ⇒ 14 +2 if it's cmb, +5 if it's a ranged attack...
If this doesn't work, we could try running in, each grabbing one person and getting them out... waiting for the elemental to go away again and running in for the last folks

GM Bold Strider |

There is no rush at this point.
Raevin and Conlaoch toss the lasso around the area with the people and, after a few attempts, catch the leg of Mariel. They end up dragging her back towards them once they've snagged her, but it doesn't look like it would have been a pleasant journey for the unconscious woman as he head drug against the ground.
Over the next few minutes, the pair gets all four compatriots well away from where the elemental hangs out.

"Welcome back, Mariel... perhaps you should use this wand to heal the others, if you would, and yourself if you need more."

![]() |

Mariel looks bewildered when she regains consciousness. "I remember the elemental striking me, and then everything went dark. And there were so many voices! My armor apologized for not keeping me safe. And the marble on which I lay apologized on behalf of the elemental. I heard the bell sound, and the music was mocking me, telling me I had been wrong all this time. And there was a voice running around, chattering that there was so much work to do, and urging me to help. But I couldn't..."
She looks around and sees the carnage around her for the first time. "Oh Gods, I led us into a trap. I got them all killed!" She puts a hand in front of her mouth in horror.
When she realizes the situation is not that dire, Mariel stands up, brushes dust off her armor and assumes command. "Well, we have to get them back up. Conloach, stand guard, warn us when you see anyone approach. Anyone who's back on their feet can hide in the chapel for now. Raevin, the trick with the rope was great, I think I can help with that."
As Raevin throws the rope to the next unconscious Pathfinder, Mariel stares hard at it, muttering under her breath and willing it to loop around Bevek's foot. Cast Mage Hand. In this way, they retrieve their companions one by one. Using her wand, she heals them enough to stand on their feet, then urges them into the chapel.

Fingalad sees the cultists with the hound and thinks that the dog's ability to smell might give them away if they get too close, even if they are hiding.
I gave you a pass on the scent with only two players up because I didn't want another massacre, but I will do it now if you get too close.
They seem to be patrolling and not standing in one spot, so you will have to somehow evade them to reach your target, seemingly the main building of the prison that is surrounded by 40' high walls with parapets and the like.

![]() |

Could we try to pick the dog off from afar? Or just straight up fight them?

![]() |

I think Fingalad wants to try to snipe the dog from a stealth position at least 110 feet away. More if necessary to evade the dog's scent. This is what I built him to do after all. He has a few buffs he'll utilize. Anyone care to add additional buffs?
I'll be doing Studied Target, Magic Weapon, and Arcane Pool.

I don't really have a buff for you, but ready to watch your back if things go south.

![]() |

Sounds good. I have a Bless to add. The rest of us could probably use the bonus as well, if the guard come after us from that shot.

![]() |

I think I could throw on a guidance for +1 competence bonus to the attack roll. I don't think that interferes with any of the other proposed boosts.

After sharing his plan and casting his spell, Fingalad keeps a wary distance from the dog's scent but otherwise tries to get as close as he can but no closer than 110 feet. He finds a bush, tree, or corner to hide behind. Stealth: 10 + 8 = 18
