At the question of magic, Raman squints at the idol. While she has no ability to discern magic, the gods have gifted her the ability to sense Evil.
Detect Evil on the statue.
Regardless—unless Xavilon or Melody detects it as magic and warns her against touching it—Raman will try to put it in her pack.
"More exploring is smart." And, as always [ooc](unless someone else does so), the Vudrani woman will push forward, checking out the door behind the throne (which I believe is locked).

GM Bold Strider |

The idol does not appear to be magical, nor does the table. Raman easily grabs the idol and puts it into her pack.
Weight of Idol: 5d6 + 30 ⇒ (6, 2, 6, 5, 1) + 30 = 50
As she shoulders the pack, she notices that she moves a bit slower due to the weight of the idol.
You are now at Medium Encumbrance.
You take your time to pick the easy lock on the door leading behind the throne room. The secret door opens onto a covered bridge forty feet across. The entire structure appears to be carved from a single red stone, but the centuries-long burial in sand has levied its toll. Long cracks line the walls and ceiling, and twenty feet along the bridge a seven-foot gash splits the floor in two, through which the dark orange stone of the valley below is visible. Spaced every ten feet on the walls are a series of massive carved heads: a pair of screaming fire elementals, a pair of humans clad in armor, and a pair of bull-headed men, each flanked by massive torches. The arch’s far end is carved into the shape of a massive leering face, with golden double doors in place of its mouth.
The carved faces are actually stylized windows. The numerous openings to the outside make this chamber relatively cool compared to the rest of the Citadel and provide bright illumination. The gash in the bridge floor is 7 feet across and opens onto the valley floor 30 feet below.

Xavilon leads the group with Kazamir but stays alert, as he doesn't want to fall prey to a trap.
Perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (5) + 8 = 13
Pointing at the gap in the bridge, he says "Do you think we better jump over it or should we do otherwise?"

![]() |

Raman struggles with the weight, uncomfortable with how it restricts her movement. "does someone stronger want to carry this?" She eyes the gap. "I certainly don't want to jump that with it on."
If no one volunteers, she'll just stay out while others scout ahead a bit. We may be able to just toss it across.

![]() |

Sighing, Xavilon slowly nods to Raman. "Okay, okay, I'll that pathetic thing on my back."

![]() |

"I hate to set down our prize once we have it in hand."
Feeling much lighter without the heavy pack, Raman pulls a length of rope from the pack now on Xavilon’s back. Then she loops it around her waist and gives the other end to Xavilon.
”Don’t let me fall.”
Once the strange man signals he’s ready, Raman gets a running start and tries to jump the gap.
Taking 10 on this jump is now a success.

GM Bold Strider |

Xavilon is now staunchly burdened with the metal idol and grasps the rope as handed to him by Raman as she jumps the crack in the bridge.
Xavilon is now at Medium Encumbrance.
As soon as she lands, a fearsome creature teleports to just in front of her. This four-winged beast opens its toothy jaw and screeches violently as it hovers in the air, ready to spear her with its trident.

It takes all of a heartbeat for Raman to decide this thing—whatever it is—is Evil.

"Do not worry over me!" she shouts resolutely to her teammates, "Take it down!"

Kazamir-Stabilize Check-DC 10: 1d20 + 2 - 3 ⇒ (1) + 2 - 3 = 0
Kazamir continues to bleed out on the stone-worked bridge as Yalandlara's arrow veers wide.

Leaving only one option, the devil turns to Raman and tries to claw her with its feet talons.
@Raman: It looks like you two-handed the scimitar since you posted 4 static damage which would be 3 (1.5x Str) + 1 (Paladin level), so no Buckler to AC, so 20 AC (+3 Dex, +4 Armor, +3 Charisma)?

It wasn't my intention to 2-hand. My understanding is that Smite damage is doubled against Evil Outsiders, which I was assuming/hoping this is.
Raman curses as yet another ally is slain, then grunts as it claws its way through her divine protection. She stays focused on bringing it down, though, despite the momentum of the fight.
Another scimitar attack. I'm still gonna assume it's a Evil Outsider (and double the Smite damage), but just remove 1 from the damage if that's incorrect.
