Lara shakes her head.
"I see no point in split our group... If there is indeed twenty or thirty men inside this room, there is no way we three can hold this door if they hear you jamming that door... "

![]() |

"I can try to jam the door quietly. Here's some toys to help keep this door a bottleneck." Kazamir pulls a couple bags from his belt and hands them to Yalandlara.
two bags of caltrops and two bags of marbles. the marbles are kind of like caltrops, but more amusing.

Ow, sure! I didn't remember that.

Important questions. From our side, are the doors a push or pull? What's the gap below the door and above the floor? What do the handles look like?
Kaz looks in his backpack and tries to figure out what he can use.

A sound erupts behind you, near Erasmus, as you all fortify yourselves in the throne room. "You bloody idiots should have fled for your life!"

The bolas clatter useless along with Raman's first arrow along the cobbled stone floor, but Raman does find an arrow bypassing the man's magical barriers with her second arrow.
It pierces his shoulder and the man cries out. "How dare you harm me, peasant! I shall burn your flesh from your bones!"

Xavilon shakes his head but soon discovers that he bleeds really bad.
"Oh, the joy of suffering at your service, dangerous Vildeis!" says the inquisitor with a face showing... pleasure.
After some time rejoicing, he asks nevertheless if someone can heal him.

Erasmus takes his bolas back, then he goes close to Lara and tries to wake her.
"Hey, Lara, speak with me. Are you ok?", he says while gives light slaps on her face.

![]() |

Raman keeps her bow trained on him a few more seconds, an arrow nocked as if she believes he might be attempting some kind of ruse. Finally, she releases the tension on her bowstring and steps closer to the man.
”All that confident talk,” she remarks, but says nothing more. She steps over to Xavilon, eyeing the man sideways as she offers him her healing wand. ”Maybe you should follow one that does not require such suffering?”
Wand of CLW, on Xavilon: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
I think that takes care of all but 1 hp, Xavilon.

![]() |

Unfortunately not, Xav took full damage from the burning hands.
Xavilon bows in front of Raman.
"Thank you very much, gracious and oh... dangerous lady!"

![]() |

Ah, gotcha.
CLW, Xavilon: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7
Raman relaxes her bow. "I think he might have been alone. But we should act as if he did send someone for flame reinforcements."
So you said he came from a secret door. Do we still need to go through the double doors? Or have we explored everything under that left covered area?

![]() |

"Wha... What happened?"
Lara says with her eyes still dazed by the bright colors. When they finally focuses, she looks around and sees that the combat is over.
"Sorry for being caught like that but my eyes are really sensitive. Oh, and thank you Erasmus. Well, shall we proceed?"

GM Bold Strider |

The group moves into the last room and finds what looks to be a trophy room. Although formerly full of finery, this large hall has been completely ransacked. Scarlet drapes lie in tatters on the floor, obsidian pedestals are smashed, and shards of red and black clay cover the floor. The southeast corner is the only exception—a large table sits there undisturbed.
On it, the cultists have reconstructed an idol of Moloch: a large, armored flame creature with the head of a bull. This appears to be what you seek. Three torches line the chamber, but they are near the end of their lives when you enter, casting only dim light. As a result, it is easier to see the light shining through the viewports from the Secret Spine (the hidden room). The viewport is concealed as part of a torch sconce.

Kazamir sighs, "Some people don't know how to conduct a proper pillaging."
Perception: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (3) + 0 = 3
Why do I bother trying?

Xavilon, wary, looks everywhere in the room.
Perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (15) + 8 = 23

![]() |

"Well," the vudrani woman says as she gives the idol a suspicious scowl, "there we go."
How big is it? Too big to fit into a backpack?
She looks around at the crew, "So do we just take it? Or do we suspect a trap of some sort?"

![]() |

Kazamir responds absently to Raman while looking around, "It's probably trapped. What's with the one clean table, though? That's odd too."

![]() |

"Oh good question!" Xavilon scans the room with detect magic.

![]() |

Lara looks closely at the idol.
"It is indeed smaller than we expected... well, maybe there is another one, a bigger one, and this is just a trinket... If I was a horned huge bad demon lord, I would like a bigger idol."
