The skald maintains her sanguine song:

We sought a priceless idol,
But found, to our surprise,
The cult's devil still flies!"[i]
Meanwhile, her greataxe crashes mightily into the foe.

Really sorry for the delay, folks. I am currently working 100+ hour weeks and weekends are my worst time. Sadly, it will only get worse until November. I am caught up now and should hopefully be on top of posting but please feel free to bot me or drop me if I fall too far behind.
GM Bold Strider |
No worries. Was waiting for Gyles to post and then I would bot you.
Sundr cleaves the undead creature in half with her greataxe. It crumbles to dust in the wake of the skald's attack. In the pile of zombie dust, Barley finds a ring.
The mad sorcerer cheers you on! Great job, everyone! Let's keep going! This is exciting and my daughter must be down here somewhere... The man trundles forward looking everywhere in awe and you see him disappear around the corner where the bugbear zombie came from.
Assuming you heal...
As you heal up and move on, you come across a room and Deris is standing in the doorway, frozen in place. His face seems to be one of permanent surprise.
Water drips from the double-vaulted ceiling and trickles down the walls to pool on the floor. Bone shards of a hundred skulls litter the room like shattered seashells. Wide stairs climb to the west. Narrow stairs dive to the north. On the south wall, an open doorway gapes, a carved relief depicting a massive battle filling the archway over the door. The rest of the walls are filled floor to ceiling with nooks that house ancient, but drenched, skeletal remains. In the center of the room sit twelve school children in a circle on the floor. One child seems to be silently telling a story, her arms moving rapidly as she makes scary faces.
Deris points at the ghost telling the story. See! That's my daughter! See! Alive! I knew it! Marlinchen runs forward and sits down to watch his daughter tell a story, enraptured by her presence.
GM Bold Strider |
The children are all clearly ghosts. There is no special magical aura indicating that these are illusions or enchantments. Sam still sees the vast magical aura of the Drownyard however and it is much stronger down here.
But Mad Henry plucked the lass out of the pool of blood surrounding her dead husband and carried her out into the thundering night. Behind him, the army of the dead turned from the grizzly scene and followed their master. The sounds of thunder and lightning faded away as the alchemist and his dead companions disappeared into the dark night... Deris and the children are enthralled as his daughter's ghost continues her story.
Sündr-dögünn |
Sündr withdraws the magic of her song, but finishes out the ballad as inspiration for her companions.
"Burned by sun and ample flame,
We cut and hacked to the heart,
Where lava flowed freely on the floor,
And put an end to Moloch’s reborn corps.
Among the burning stones,
Our idol sat beside shattered walls.
Hell's portal by our hands now closed,
We took it home, unopposed.
Our swords, our might, our cunning carried the day!
To victory! Thus Sündr-dögünn the Spinner doth say!"
CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8 full up 19/19
Next, the skald takes a good look at the ring. Spellcraft: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (18) + 5 = 23 "Ooh! A ring of feather falling! Who's our scout? Barley, perhaps? Maybe you should take it." I assume that this ring does not have a pair of twinned salamanders on it?
Sündr-dögünn |
The skald whispers in conference with the bard. "Notice anything odd about her tale?" A bard can interrupt another bard's fascination, right? Not sure that that what's happening here though.
"Hmm, I wanna try something," says the Ulfen woman without explanation. Unless someone stops her she waits for a few more lines of the story to satisfy Sam and then casts a spell, summoning the image of the storyteller dead on the floor some ways behind the gaggle of children -- and Derris. Using silent image; I am curious as to his reaction and whether we can knock the fantasy from his head.
GM Bold Strider |
The group of ghostly children and Deris gasp at the appearance of a corpse of Liliana, causing the storyteller to turn.
Disbelief: 1d20 + 4 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 + 4 = 13
Deris believes it to be the corpse of his daughter. But that wasn't there... Did I miss it? What kind of trickery is going on. My daughter is right here. This corpse cannot exist... Deris, Liliana's ghost and the other children crowd around the illusion.
Interested to see how you handle it disappearing...

As you line up in the hallway, you are fail to hear anything until it seems too late. Three undead beasts rush out from the various hallways in the area. Two of them attack Deris as he and the children rush to the Silent Image created by Sundr. The other one comes around the corner and lashes out at Sam.
Will change undead actions based on Barley's actions, but this is what they are tentatively. Post your actions. They are going to attack Deris (x2) and Sam unless Barley rushes forward or something.

The skald begins a furious battle hymn and steps towards Derris, drawing her greataxe.

Once again, all allies can accept or decline the effects of raging song on a turn by turn basis.
GM Bold Strider |
Barley hesitates and see the undead lumber into the room and hallway.
He then uses his drawn katana as he moves forward to slash at one of the beasts, but it misses terribly.
Sundr steps forward as well and draws her greataxe as she begins her raging skald song.
Deris begins to freak out as the corpse of his daughter disappears. OH GOD WHAT IS GOING ON! He seems oblivious to the undead menaces behind him.
The ghouls turn on the Pathfinders as Barley's katana bounces ineffectively off of one of their hides.

@Barley: I had no idea what your post meant, so I interpreted it the best I could. Sorry. You couldn't attack the undead that attacked Gyles because it was around a hard corner, so I assumed you wanted to attack one of the other undead. Either way, you are safe from the Disease and Paralysis.
I changed up the position of Sam and Gyles because I didn't want to paralyze you all on the first turn and then be roleplaying with myself (Undead and Gyles).
Sundr falls paralyzed to the ground. Her greataxe clangs on the rough stonework as toxins invade her body. Paralyzed for: 2d4 + 2 ⇒ (2, 1) + 2 = 5 rounds. Sundr does feel her fast healing activate and heal her wounds slightly.

Sam steps around the corner and eviscerates one of the ghouls with his claws, rendering the undead into a heap of macabre limbs.

@Sam: Technically, he went full defense because provoking would probably be bad and you can't swap places without a feat, Swap Places, but I'll allow it since this isn't going that great.
Gyles cowers as Sam steps forwards and rends the ghoul in front of him with his claws, but he doesn't take this one down as quickly as the other.

Sam steps forward, draws his longspear and casts grease on the floor below the remaing ghoul making sure there is only a 5ft area of the spell in front of him so he can safely stab the undead from 10ft away in firm ground.

If I move diagonally to that square south of Sundr that has a torch do I give AoO? If not that is what Sam does otherwise just 5ft step forward.
Sam Drakenfel |
Actually I cant, sorry :(
Just realised I forgot my computer at my girlfriend's house.
/facepalm.
What I want to do is this. Sam stays where he is, draws longspear and casts grease in a 10 ft square including the ghoul, Sundr and Barley. So if the ghoul passes the save and attacks Sam it gives an AoO. If not Sam steps forward next round and attacks it from reach out of the spell's area.
EDIT: Yes I was trying to knock it down.
