In process of building an Arial Stormborn Sorcerer.

If this bloodline is going to be a "'meh' at best" character in this setting please let me know and I will alter to a different bloodline.
(basically trying to get at if you will be using weather in the campaign as it is vital to the bloodline arcana of this class)

Contributor

I'm going to try again with Adelai Marketh, insane cleric of Groetus.

You can go with the Advanced Race Guide Playtest entry until the actual race guide would come out, then that would be mandatory change. (Which I am sure could be provided to you) Assuming you get in that is.

Lizardfolk
Type
Humanoid (reptilian)
Size Medium
Speed 30', Swim speed 30'

Ability Score Modifiers (+2 Str, +2 Con)
Languages Draconic - With high intelligence can pick from Common, Boggard, Giant (from Marsh Giants), goblin)

Racial Abilities
Bite (1d4)
2 Claws (1d4)
Natural armor (+2)
+8 to Swim checks

(Tilnar Here)

Built the alias and posted the sheet -- I've not put in the full background and history, though I do know where I'm going with it (and the Adopted Trait and choice of deity do sort of make clear where that is), but I will work it up into something (hopefully) impressive and post that tomorrow (tonight's my in-person gaming group).

I would go with something else as I am thinking through the first half of the AP

All right, mechanics completed as well now. I went with the bite. It seemed that mechanically the +2 CMD would just be better, but when trying to get it to feel right, it just wasn't as great as the bite attack. I figure that'd go well with her sense of humor (a big grin with a row of sharp teeth). Plus to explain accelerated drinker trait, just bite the top of the potion off and spit out the glass.

Might submit a human cavalier.

Submitting Lina, a human Oracle of the Heavens. Crunch was created for another AP with 20 pt buy - if selected I can update to 25

Lina is a young woman of slight build, with slightly olive skin and features which betray her obvious Varisian heritige.

background:
I was there the day the goblins attacked. Barely 16, I was celebrating the Swallowtail Festival in Sandpoint with my parents, as we did every year, but little did I know how different this year would be. I spent the entire morning loitering near Ameiko’s booth, trying not to get caught staring at the mysterious and beautiful woman while enjoying the fragrant aromas of her cooking. All my life I had watched her in her tavern and wished to be her – courageous, outgoing, fearless - everything I was not. The furthest outside the town I had ever been was the occasional delivery errand for my father to a farm in the hinterlands, but I dreamed of glamorous adventure like Ameiko told in her tales.

All that came crashing down when screams erupted through the crowd and green death cut down my parents before my very eyes. The hideous creatures laughed as blood filled the streets – and all I could do was stand frozen and watch. I was carried away from the town square by the stampeding crowd, and by the time I clawed my way back they were just two lifeless cold dolls as if discarded in the street. I stood there for what seemed like hours lost in despair, having lost everything. Finally I started walking, not knowing where to go, and soon found myself on the road south from Sandpoint.

My head was spinning, and images of death and butterflies seared into my mind as I trudged onward into the night. By the time I stumbled into Magnimar, I was ragged, exhausted, hungry, and cursing Desna for my loss. Four years passed like a blur, working odd jobs to keep myself fed, but never staying in one place long, as my hatred of Desna got me thrown out of taverns and inns all across Varisia.

It was on the lonely road from Korvosa, on a clear starry night that I was suddenly blinded by a light brighter than the sun. My vision began to clear only slightly, and I saw what looked like a giant butterfly floating in the air above me. A voice spoke to me, “Why must you hold such anger? Desna holds no malice towards you, and never has wronged you. We have clouded your vision that you may one day see clearly. Now go Magnimar, where The Great Dreamer has an important role for you.”

The darkness of the night returned, and I collapsed in the grass next to the road. When I came to, I felt changed – though my sight was nearly gone, a heavy weight seemed lifted from my heart and I began the long journey back to Magnimar.

@Azure_Zero: for clarity I am only using the name of Shaman as fluff not the archtype. Urthain is from the Hawk tribe of the Shoanti. Sorry for the confusion.

Azure_Zero:
Glad you're enjoying her. I figure she's the merciless type, based on her upbringing, and it's been fun to have a... more cheerful... Aasimar as a foil.

Presenting the alpha version of Dror Bronzeshield, Dwarf Aberration Sorcerer.

Comments and criticism? I will clean up the statblock tonight, as I mentioned earlier, but wanted to get it out for initial feedback.

Here is my kobald sorcerer. I will post my background and minor details tonight. It got erased the first time I tried to save and now I'm out of time.

If you decide against kobalds I will simply change race to half-elf(rp wise half-drow)

Here we go, I am maybe... 85% done with my sorcerer.

I have a decent idea for his background, at least his young years that will tie in my spell choices later in game. Between ages 10 to "present" I am less sure about but I will come up with something.

Re-reading some spells I have noticed I/we never use them right in our tabletop games.

Some thing's I'd be curious about with the people involved here:
Grease, does it burn? will spark (APG) set it on fire if it does.
-we played this way in ou home game, mainly because the spell is so lack in it's description and there are many forms of grease, some burn at high temps others, depending on what nasty stuff they are made with, can burn from a small spark

Things like Silent Image, I reread and found it can move within the spells effect range, we had played before where it moved within the spells castable range. I am to understand with that you could make a small image that can move around in it's 10 x 10 x X area (X being variable of sorcerer level and not the 400 x whatever area you can cast the spell??)

There are many more, and I know this is not really the place for those so I will leave it at that for now. a Simple no/yes thats how grease and/or spark work on the first and a simple "Silent image moves like you first mentioned. or It moves within the full range of the spell" will be enough for the second all assuming anyone feels the need to answer, if not no big deal.

Anyway, I need a break from putting this Alias together and will check back in later.

Rizarch

I would say Grease does not burn

Silent Image you can move it around. I believe it is four 10' cubes plus a 10' Cube per level. So at 2nd level it could move in a 20' by 30' room or a 60' Hallway

I don't mind answering questions on how I would rule things. I probably rule some things different than they should be anyways. When I play at a table as long as I know how it works ahead of time, I'm usually fine with it.

Thanks everyone so far. Getting 10-12 completed submissions in 24 hours is quite surprising. Looks like it will be another hard decision come Tuesday.

I'll casually be looking at entries this weekend. Between NCAA tournament and game night where I play on Saturday and game night for my home game on Monday, some of the time to really look at these might be scattered.

I already did, on my last post under the Rutilos alias I withdrew him from consideration (first page of this thread). I am only submiting this sorcerer.

Lizardfolk look great for fighters and barbarians (even druids).

Nice to see them come back -- us old-schoolers remember the awesome lizardman fighter from Quag Keep. Nice to see the lizardfolk get some love again after all these years. Andre Norton would be glad.

I would like to present Raven Hawthorne, a LN Half-Elf Cleric(Separatist) of Pharasma for consideration :-)

Let me know what you think!

I would like to be considered if ye please.

Emmy is the daughter of a successful dwarven merchant. She was raised, like most dwarves with an battleaxe in hand and an eye for precious gems. Unlike other dwarves, Emmy also had a passion for arcane magic that could not be suppressed. Being the only girl and the gem of her father's eye, she was allowed to study magic with a human wizard. Emmy may not have been his brightest pupil but she is as tough as most fighters and more than willing to "take a tumble" with her battleaxe. Typical of a stubborn dwarf, Emmy refuses to set aside her armor and buckler and this sometimes causes her spells to fail. She figures that she will eventually get the knack of casting in armor.

Dotting this for interest, I see there is a long list of applications already, but the campaign looks cool. Will have something up tomorrow. Most likely Human Witch.

Here is my finished kobald. If anyone has questions about the background I'll answer them. Questions always seem to help make my descriptions deeper.

Worveseth Couatlmir

I'll have the rest of the character up shortly, but I need to dot this before I forget...again

Here is Zerrosk. I still need to get his gear together, but other than that he should be good.

I've put in the background and stuff for Kilthan. Not wanting to up his post count, just in case, but it's all in the alias.

Lantern Lodge

What is dot? People say they dot posts but I dont know what is meant by that.

so 20 is the max ability score only for character creation? It can go higher after that correct?

Rizarch Correct as you level your score can go above that

Darklight Dotting is posting in a thread so a little dot appears at the end of the title when you are looking on the main page. If you look at this thread under Recruitment it should have a dot for you.

Lantern Lodge

Interesting, thanks.

Finished!

Profile is now finished. If anyone cares to give me any critiques or feedback I would be most grateful since this is my first PBP "character sheet."
Sticking with stormborn. My favorite out of the bloodlines.

GM_Blood I think it's time to do a Cut Off of accepting more recruits as the list in getting into a unmanageable state.

Heavy on the human/half-humans isnt it. Thats an unusual thing in my experience.

Tirion's Submission. Background still needs some work, but figured I would put it up for a start.

Aarakess - Human Witch(Hedge Witch Archetype)

Yeah I agree with Azure. Wasn't expecting this much this fast.

I'll give another 24 hours from this post to submit a character. Anyone under incomplete is still eligible as long as they get it done by the deadline of end of Monday.

I was not going to submit a character, with the growing list, but I reworked this character from another campaign that did not last long.

Rohara (see profile) is a Cleric of Desna.

(Main posting name is Songdragon. I am in for a long term campaign. My longest, and counting, play by post game is just over 2 years now.)

I would love to get in on this pbp adventure. I've got some experience in pbp. The first was a Kingmaker path where the GM kind of vanished so the game dried up. The second was my own home brew campaign I made to play with friends from work but they got too busy to keep committed so that too dried up. I am itching to get back into another so I hope the recruitment is not closed despite the volume of applicats.

If it fits with your campaign, I would love to play an elven alchemist. I know its not core classes and all but it is most definitely not broken.

I've posted his profile as one of my alias.

Cheers

Background:
Some are born mediocre...

Some achieve mediocrity...

And some have mediocrity thrust upon them...

Though he never knew his father, Cainon has always suspected that the circumstances of his birth were far from ordinary. As a young boy, Cainon grew up in the statue haunted streets of Magnimar, always dreaming of a life of adventure and greatness, wandering the roads and living by his talent with the blade. Nevertheless, there are things we cling to and others we abandon for a steady salary - as the only son of a single mother, Cainon turned his focus to more mundane concerns.

The Magnimarian Guard seemed like a good place to start for a young man he thought - perhaps he would see some of the adventure he dreamed of in his youth and perhaps do some good for the city while earning enough to feed his aging parent.

The passing of his mother to a fatal blackscour taint which destroyed his savings in a vain attempt to fight it has dulled his idealism and hope for the future. Likewise, years of walking a beat have taken the luster of his work. A life of doing little more than rousting the occasional drunkard or apprehending a stray cut-purse have convinced him that if he ever made Watch Sergeant, it would likely be the high point of his seemingly bland career.

Despite exemplary (if uninspired) service in the city watch though, many have chosen to read his even temperament as a lack of drive however, and the sought after promotion continues to elude him, much to his personal frustration.

Cainon had hoped that receiving a new posting would be the first step to promotion, though deep down, he suspects that his career is effectively being put on ice. Being posted to the garrison of a small backwater mining town has done little to convince him otherwise...

A well built man with a shock of unkempt dark hair, Cainon moves with the economy of motion of one who has spent too long in the service. Though servants of the 'Drunken Hero' are rare in Magnimar, compared to the staunchly Iomedean clergy, Cainon respects Cayden Cailean's call to action and will on on occasion raise a tankard in his name after hours. On duty, he is always calm and playing the straight man though years of service have instilled in him a natural caution and wariness of others. Still, his belief in the better nature of man and his natural politeness manages to shine through and though jaded with his dead end position as he is with his job, he has yet to abandon his job out of belief that he is still making the world a better place.

Cainon was not intended as leader of men, hence the reasoned I opted to decline Tactician and keep vanilla fighter.

It doesn't give additional skill points, but I'm substituting the feat Additional Traits as a partial fix for the disallowed War College variant Fighter. Although he is a casual follower of Cayden Cailean, Ease of Faith is tied to his belief that the Good Gods serve a common purpose, each in their own way. Suspicious and Reactionary are both tied to his background as a medieval beat cop.

If it's okayed, I'll go ahead and put up an alt. If not, back to the drawing board.

Couple questions as I begin to go over these. Mainly just thoughts or questions that popped into my head as reading.

Dryn'taka Devilschild:

I see you rolled three time and got 80 twice, did you want to try for a new third roll?

Kilthan Hammerstone:
You have favored enemy goblinoids and I think you will be disappointed in how often you'll get to use it. If picked, how about instead taking Humanoid (Elf) which would still work with being raised by dwarves (as the alternate racial trait in the APG is Ancient Enmity)

Rohara Acharya:
Your trait is Eyes and Ears of the City. How do you blend that with a live of travel? If the trait is for having perception as a class skill I would be fine with a reworked custom trait giving you the same mechanical benefits. (maybe something along the lines of with your love for travel you were always on the lookout for new sights or something)

Aarakess Halcorn:
You took a trait to make Sense motive a class skill yet took no ranks in it. What is the thought behind that? Also you get to pick only one trait and I assign the other, though I plan to tal through those picked and the one chosen would be fine.

With your low strength you are pretty much already at max for light load. What are you thoughts on the future with that? Willing to go down to even a 17 to ease up on that? The 8 could then be a 12 or a 10 with an extra point in Con or Dex?

Dies Irae:
Entry looks fine though I wonder does the description or title of the archetype bother you or the mechanics (or both). I guess what I am saying is that if the mechanics are fine I don't mind calling it something else and changing the descriptions.

I don't see much in terms of being a leader of much of anything. Most of the abilities in combat are to make others shine. (obviously by your characters grasp of tactics). 5th level is about where anything like that starts. I think that no matter what, if you are picked, you will be the main fighty guy and probably be looked to in combat situations anyways.

Need to pick a trait, and write backstory, otherwise Solanar is done.

Right...I need to submit my character tomorrow...

GM Blood wrote:

Couple questions as I begin to go over these. Mainly just thoughts or questions that popped into my head as reading.

Mostly, it's something imperceptible about the class that just annoys me on some level. There's just something about Tactician that doesn't seem to resonate well with me as a player for some reason.

There's also the consideration I had that lots of the 'party coordination' abilities like Tactician and Teamwork Feats work much better at a table face-to-face than over a PBP.

Solanar Thanks!

Dies Irae Fair enough, just trying to find a way for it to work for you.

GM Blood:
I'll go ahead and throw up a roll to see what I get for the third.
1d100 ⇒ 28 +3 rounds to summon monster.
I'll stick with the bite. I've kinda started to grow attached to the idea :)

GM Blood:
I was hoping it would be justified with the stopping in zone of conflict and lending a hand. Perhaps it does not come across as well as I had hoped or really work with this concept. If you really do not see it, I can easily work something else out that might fit better with travel (Perhaps World Traveler or Starchild)

GM Blood:
One of the cantrips I took is Root, which after further research is a "rare cantrip" that was published on the 5/24/11 Blog and therefore not "officially supported". I wanted to check to make sure it's OK so I can change it out if necessary, but I feel it's very much in character given my background and anticipated developement.

Bimbur's profile updated to work dark elf enmity in his background.

I picked two traits but expect one to be replaced if selected. Rich parents if it offends, Wisdom in the Flesh if Rich Parents does not offend.
