Novennia winces at the foul slime coating her blade, glancing around for something to clean it off with. "Well, thanks for helping, guys," she teases, grinning as she does so. "So, why do you suppose they linked this place to the crypt?" she muses, "and who was this poor sod?" She rolls the grub off the half-eaten corpse, searching it for any identifying marks - and, yes, she's not too proud to deny herself looking for coin.
Once you've fought this horrible bug and smelled it's burning flesh, handling a half-eaten corpse seems relatively normal.
You find a small emerald in his left pocket and estimate it is worth about 350 gp.

Novennia Wintrish |

Novennia whistles as she pulls the emerald from the unfortunate soul's pocket. "Nah, it's just a bug. I'm fine," she replies to Krokod, showing him the gem. "But finding this little beauty's taken my mind off the smell!" She can't help grinning at the Varisian man, standing and wiping her hands on her trousers. "So, shall we go see where that corridor led?"

Brand Firestorm |

Brand takes a look at whats left of the bug, studying it and attempting to figure out how it may have gotten so big and how it killed its victim. As the party begins to move on, he reluctantly follows, resuming his place in line.

This appears to be typical of the species - you presume it's been fed regularly to achieve this size. You suspect it's something of a guard-dog (or guard-bug).

Delgata Pesur |

Del will search the ground floor he is in then move back to the underground connecting tunnel to keep lookout.

Novennia Wintrish |

Tucking the emerald in her belt-pouch and cleaning off her sword, Novennia notices Brand attempting to discern more about the grub. The grub she'd hacked into several pieces. Several oozing, gross pieces that were little more than clumps of half-formed blobbiness.
"Eh... sorry about that," she offers weakly, scratching the back of her neck. "Guess I got kinda carried away." Offering a sheepish smile, she makes her way back downstairs and follows Del at a respectable distance.

Brand Firestorm |

Brand gives Novennia a smile, "I'd rather inspect it in nice sizable chunks than one large one latched onto my arm. You're overzealous is much appreciated. Lets hope this little one wasn't guarding its big brother."

GM Birch |

You exit the house and go back to the tunnel. You continue around the right-handed bend and are presented with three options:
There are two other flights of stairs leading to doorways to try - neither are barricaded this time. Or you can continue along the tunnel, which takes another sharp right-handed turn.

Novennia Wintrish |

"Well, since the last staircase led to a house, perhaps we should clear out the others?" Novennia suggests, keeping her voice soft as low. She nods to the closest flight of stairs as she does so, already starting to make her way towards it.
Gonna take the nearest door if nobody suggests otherwise.

Delgata Pesur |

Sounds good, I can keep scouting.
When everyone is ready to keep moving Del will stealthy scout the new passages they open up.

GM Birch |

As you reach the door, you hear the familiar tapping of bony nails on a wooden floor. From the volume and frequency, most likely two wolf skeletons.
Again logistics are key here. You can only enter the room one at a time and there will be a point where I'll say enough have entered. You suspect if the room is the same size as the last house, four of you can fit inside the room with one in the doorway. Two can enter per round and engage the creatures. You'll need to decide who goes in and who stays out.

Novennia Wintrish |

"Alright. Me first. Neb, send your buddy up with me - he seems almost as good with a blade as I am. The rest of you can decide who goes up next - if we have skeletons up there, I'd like them taken down as quickly and quietly as possible. I haven't quite got you all figured out yet, so you tell me - who's going to be the best up there?"
After taking a few moments to determine a quick marching order, Novennia lifts her greatsword and ascends the stairs. She takes a deep breath, and swings the door open as she exhales, fully expecting the skeletons to leap out at her.

Delgata Pesur |

Pulls out his mace.
Gets in the queue of doom, plans to be 3rd or 4th.

![]() |

"Well struck Novenia." Yix steps down into the battlezone, poking at the dead enemies to make sure they're dead. Yix gives the gem a respectfully curious look. Yix remains in the back of the marching order should they be attacked from behind.
Yix is decent in melee but nothing special so he can watch our fragile casters.

Krokod Firetongue |

Krokod assumes a position where he can hopefully still heal others. He gets the feeling that's going to be his niche in this little performance group.
If he can't arrange so, he'll just take whatever spot is left.

Initiatives first
Delgata: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (17) + 9 = 26
Brand: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (7) + 9 = 16
Eidolon: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 2 = 18
Novennia: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (19) + 3 = 22
Skeletal wolves = 10
So - round one is: Novennia, Eidolon then the wolves. Round two and subsequent rounds will be: Delgata, Novennia, Eidolon, Brand then the wolves
You swing open the door to find the wolves have clearly sensed you and are ready to attack. Novennia and the Eidolon step forward and engage them.

Novennia Wintrish |

Novennia steps into the room to allow the eidolon to move in behind her, taking a swing at the closest wolf as she does so. It seems her lungs have cleared of the burning bug smell from the last room, allowing her to swing her greatsword in a powerful sweep at the skeletal beast.
Attack: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (17) + 7 = 24
Damage: 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (5, 4) + 6 = 15

GM Birch |

DM, I know the corridor is too cramped for us all to engage in melee but can we shoot a ranged weapon in?
I'll have to say no. You're on a flight of stairs and at the top the ground levels out (the floor of the building they're in). So you'd have to shoot up at an angle and then the arrow would have to change flight to horizontal to the floor. Plus you can't see the wolves.
I said this was something of a dungeon-crawl, never my favourite for PbP - but there will be opportunity for you all to get attacked sooner or later!

Novennia Wintrish |

Suppressing a whoop of excitement at seeing the first skeleton collapse, Novennia steps in to swing at the other.
Attack: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (15) + 7 = 22
Damage: 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (6, 4) + 6 = 16

GM Birch |

Before Delgata can act, Novennia finishes off the skeletal wolf.
You then have a chance to take stock of your surroundings.
This two-story building is similar to the last one. The windows and door are boarded up tight, but a miniature chair hanging above the doorway from large hooks suggests this was once a carpenter’s shop, probably one specializing in chairs.
The ground-floor window is boarded up, but the boards are of quality wood and cut very evenly.
Tiny nails, a finishing hammer, and several incomplete wooden chairs clutter the corners. The upstairs level has a well-crafted bed (slept in no later than a month ago), chair, and small table.

Novennia Wintrish |

"Team Danger?" Novennia chuckles, raising an eyebrow at Del. "Well, I suppose it's appropriate enough." She brushes a few bone fragments from the flat of her blade, inspecting it to see whether it was blunted by the skeletons. "Tell you what, if we'll be fighting more of those in our quest for liberation, I'll need to pick up something blunter. I want to see how far the bones fly when you smack 'em."
She smiles faintly at Krokod's tone, before busying herself looking around the shop. Finding... well, what one would expect to find in a carpenter's shop, she shrugs, nodding bak the way the group came. "Well, while we're on fire, should we check out that other stairway?"

Delgata Pesur |

Believing that the opportunity to be quiet is gone Del will inspect the stairway for traps and things out of place.
Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (11) + 5 = 16

Novennia Wintrish |

Novennia starts motioning for the others to get into the marching order - the same one as before if possible, with herself and Neb's eidolon at the front, followed by Del, Krokod, Yix, Brand, and then Neb himself. She makes a few gestures at Del - walking her fingers to suggest someone setting up a flank, then making stabbing motions with her hands. She points at Krokod next, but rather than attempting to mime, she just mouths, Keep me standing. She then waits to see if everyone's ready.
If we're ready to go in, she'll kick in the door and start knocking heads together.

Delgata Pesur |

Del will also make funny hand signs until he realizes what Novennia is trying to communicate, then he will gesture slapping himself on the side of the head in a duh motion, followed by a thumbs up lets go gesture.

Delgata Pesur |

That mental image is hilarious. Thanks for that; it made me chuckle despite the bad flu I've come down with. :P
Flu has vulnerability to chicken soup, attack with that! :-)

Novennia Wintrish |

My mother won initative and took a full-round action to cook up chicken noodle soup. She took Virus as her favored enemy, she's got this covered. =)

GM Birch |

As a prompt, you will all fit in this room - two per combat round
Initiatives
Delgata: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (2) + 9 = 11
Krokod: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 2 = 12
Brand: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (18) + 9 = 27
Neb: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (15) + 2 = 17
Eidolon: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (15) + 2 = 17
Yix: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5
Novennia: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (16) + 3 = 19
Tiefling 1 12
Tiefling 2 12
Tiefling 3 12
Tiefling 4 12
Novennia and Delgata get to act in a surprise round. Then we add in Brand and the Eidolon and the tieflings then...I won't go on as we'll all forget. I'll keep track each round.
