"When I must kill, I aim where there are not bones," he says, slipping Kujirosou out from under Nox's paws and sheathing it with a practiced motion.
What could he say to her? It was clear as day that something was very wrong with this child, and he wanted to help, but had no idea how. One thing he felt certain of was that she needed a friend, no matter how terrifying that prospect was.
Maybe... maybe that was a start.
"Where is your destination, Miss Nox?" Hideaki asks. "It is possible we travel to the same place. Perhaps I may keep you company on the way."

He pauses. There are so many questions he wishes to ask Nox--about the nature of the Nightmares she has spoken of, about what had happened to make her as she is--but they seemed rather like asking a tiger if it was hungry or if it thought birds tasted good. No, he would ask something related but hopefully less perilous.
"You have spoken of magic. Are you trained in the ways of wizards, or do you have another sort of magic?"
I figure they can talk for a little while longer and then wrap it up. I'm setting things up such that they could have traveled together to where the mining outpost is--basically, they went to the university, got the job, and then traveled to the mining outpost. Sound good?
Oh, one thing. I think it was mentioned that we lack any kind of divine caster. Who has good enough UMD to activate wands?

Pretty sure that'd be me or Nox.
Well...a +8 is at least enough to get the wand familiarized in the first place. If I pick up a brand new wand, it make take a bit to convince it I'm a divine caster.

*Checks stats*
Go figure, 27 charisma helps your UMD. I only have 1 rank, but I'm still rocking a +12.
Gameplay and prologue posts coming later.

Just as an FYI, I'm working the next 4 nights in a row, so my posts are likely to be pretty brief in the morning. I'm not currently scheduled for any long stretches like that through the end of August, though.
Nox Umbrae
Sounds good. This seems like a natural place to finish.

"I believe such magic is called 'sorcery', though I am unschooled in the ways of magic myself, so..."
He is interrupted by the captain's call that they're about to cast off. Hideaki settles himself a bit more in his seat.
"There shall be more time on the journey to talk, I suppose. But for now, I do find the sight of casting off fascinating. Shall we watch?"
I think that's a good end point.

As I read the updates I was surprised that Finrik hadn't answered Reinhardt after being directly addressed yesterday... and then I noticed my post wasn't there.
This is a mistake I shan't repeat, alas the night has fell and I must rest now, so I'll type up my 'long' post again in the morning.
My most sincere apologies.
Yamauchi Hideaki
Random side note: I imagine Hideaki is dressed similar to the man in the center in this image, though with a darker-colored outfit.
Tarja Steelcutter
All right, I should swap out Elven for that language, then. Any idea what to call it?
Daoish, perhaps? Or just Feicui?
Tarja Steelcutter
By the by, I use Chaotic Shiny's Language Mixer for the linguistic verisimilitude. It's got a few different options for linguistic mixing; I used Harsh 1 for dwarven, but there's some really interesting stuff to play around with in there.

Oops, my apologies. Had some pretty sudden things to take care of (mostly taking care of my sisters' home and grandpa deciding to fail a Fortitude Save), posting should get back to daily as of tomorrow.
Finrik "Fivepieces" Overdale
I'll be out of town for the next week. I'm not sure if I'll have access to reliable wifi (I might try to make a few brief posts if I do), so feel free to GMPC Finrik during this time.
Yamauchi Hideaki
I could just RP forever, but we should probably move things along for the sake of those who want to get to some action. :D
Nox Umbrae
My thoughts exactly. Plus, I'm not entirely sure how to keep our conversation going at his point. My post would essentially be "Thanks mister!" before I run out of ideas.
Yamauchi Hideaki
No problem! We'll just have to figure out what comes of Hideaki's resolve to help Nox face the Nightmares. I like the idea of it costing him something, perhaps injuring him somehow, but ultimately giving Nox some small measure of relief.
Nox Umbrae
The thing is, though, what Nox doesn't fully understand is that she's the one causing the Nightmares. While they still occasionally haunt her, the 'following her around' is actually just herself not grasping the full implications of her powers and occasionally her control slipping. So, it will be interesting in that regard.
Yamauchi Hideaki
Well, coming to understand that might well be what Hideaki helps Nox realize. One of the first steps to solving a problem is understanding it, after all. So while the realization that she's the source will probably shock her at first, I'd imagine it would be essential to make any headway into improving her situation.
...or at least coming to better control her powers. Up to you, of course. I'm just throwing some ideas out I think might be cool.

I was actually waiting for the others to chime in, didn't want to hog all the spotlight in a spotlight hogging team with Nox and Hideaki.
That said, I should have been more proactive pushing things forward. Sooo, sorry for that GM, move us onwards!
Nox Umbrae
Agreed with Yamauchi and Nox being a good pair.
Tarja Steelcutter
Please, Miss Steelcutter, you will make this old man blush. I accept, of course.

Finrik "Fivepieces" Overdale
I guess this would be the time for a few The Iron Giant references. :p
Nox Umbrae
Are we doing block/group initiative? That is, after the Riders and the wyvern goes, can the rest of us just post in whatever order? It makes PBP combat go so much faster.
Yamauchi Hideaki
I got a picture done of Hideaki. :) Look at the hilts of his blades!
Finrik "Fivepieces" Overdale
Hey, that looks pretty good, Hideaki! That artist did a very good job of illustrating your character's physical description, and I think that the art style used looks surprisingly official while maintaining a unique charm.
On a different note, I would like to throw in my support for block initiative.
Yamauchi Hideaki
Thanks! The artist is Jacob Blackmon, whose style you might recognize if you're into some of the 3rd-party Pathfinder supplements (at the least some Everyman Gaming stuff). It turns out he has a Patreon, which includes a tier that gets you a monthly character illustration. :)
Oh, and I'd vote for block initiative, as well. Additionally, if I understand correctly, our first normal (non-surprise) round will be entirely consumed by getting up on deck?
Finrik "Fivepieces" Overdale
Ah. The only 3pp I'm familiar with is Path of War, and I don't think I see his name in the credits, but it still seems oddly familiar. That quality of art seems like a pretty good incentive to support his Patreon (and better than quite a few I've seen).
-------
Hey, GM, can I roleplay my emergence onto the deck, or would you rather handwave the process?
Finrik "Fivepieces" Overdale
So...it's been almost a week since we've heard from Tarja, and it appears that we're all waiting on her. Should we just bot her so that we can continue the game?
Finrik "Fivepieces" Overdale
Nah, I think I messed up. I was unsure if we made a decision on using group initiative, and I was further tripped up by the existence of a surprise round. Sorry, Tarja!
